1 star -- absolutely unacceptable. The pharmacy at CVS Pharmacy is a complete mess. My prescription was transferred, and somehow it just vanished. No one can tell me where it is, why it's not filled, or when I'm actually going to get it. I've now been sent between locations being told it's ready, only to show up and hear "we don't have it." Meanwhile, I'm without medication I need, getting worse, and the staff offers zero real answers. One employee (Rita) looked up my prescription and couldn't give any clear information or timeline at all--just confusion and attitude instead of solutions. At this point, it feels like no one knows what they're doing. This isn't a small mistake--this is people's health. Figure out your system, communicate properly, and stop leaving patients stuck chasing their own prescriptions. read more

Customer service is awful, that's if your lucky enough to get to the pharmacy when it's open. For some reason the whole pharmacy portion still closes for lunch every day, like it's Covid times still. Or if you make it by 6 on a Saturday evening they will deny service because "we close at 6". But I was here before that waiting in this long line, sorry folks 6 is closing time. Oh and the drive through, well that's a toss of a dice if they decide to open it , at least at the Essex st location anyway. CVS used to be a good reliable store where you can rely on the service, and call and get a person on the phone but now it's all automated spam calls and long lines. Some of the locations might still be decent but the Essex st one next to the auto parts store in Salem is absolutely horrible. read more

It was pretty crazy here since there was some sort of Halloween event around downtown Salem, most notably near and around the Salem Witch Museum. It was wild. Lucky me, I guess. Once I was done sightseeing and needed a few things before heading to the hotel for the night, I stopped by this CVS store along the main strip here in downtown Salem. It was nice to have this place here for anyone and everyone to purchase everyday items. Whether they are a tourist like me or a local who works in the area, it's a nice spot to get things you need. I arrived here around 4:30pm and the store was packed. Thankfully I just needed a few things and I was good to go. The start itself was fairly large, but small enough to stock everything that you wanted to. There was plenty of people here when I was here which made it quite interesting. The only things that I bought were drinks and snack items. Many people don't really touch that stuff, but it was good for me because it was nice and cold for the drinks and the snacks were very nice and delicious after purchasing. CBS is your typical convenience store with everything and everything you could possibly wantwithin reason. Only Walmart is probably six or seven times larger than CVS store. I probably circled the store maybe once before locating my items of choice. Then I secured them. Then I walked towards the cashier to pay my items, but before that there was many lines of 5 to 6 people deep waiting to check out also. That's when it got kind of nuts waiting for thepeople to clear and I could check out myself. The over experience here at this particular CVS location in Salem, Massachusetts was pretty good and typical although the lines could have been shorter and just better, I guess. It is what it is, although it didn't help coming here on they were they had a big festival . For the most part, though, it was a nice place to grab drinks at a reasonable price, as opposed to other vendors who have or could have had prices higher than normal to make a profit. I enjoy these convenience stores because they offer who is a prices and definitely a nice ambience to shop. While they are not a convenient store per se, but they are in a lot of places and definitely a place to get much items when you need them. The staff was very friendly and would help me with any problems and concerns that I may have had, although the lines were nuts anyway so I could not tell them to Keep shopping. The ambiance was OK and quite pleasurable. I did enjoy the quietness in the back of the store while shopping for my items while the rest of everybody else was trying to check out. I could've bought alcohol here, but, I should save that for another time and place. The checkout process was really good and fast enough. I enjoyed that part about shopping here and most other places like Walmart too. To be honest, though it was nice to just be here and not walking through the crowds outside. If you enjoy Salem but need a few drinks and other items that are more reasonably priced, consider coming to this CVS store in downtown Salem, Massachusetts. This particular CVS store is located at 200 Essex Street in beautiful Salem, Massachusetts. It is nearby the Salem, which museum and the Salem witch trials memorial. They accept credit cards as well as cash. As far as parking goes, your best bet would be to find street parking wherever it's available. Or maybe a parking garage if they exist in this town. I'm not sure if Salem has his own public transportation system here, or if it's linked with Boston's own public transportation system. Regardless though, Salem is a walkable city town that you can possibly do after parking your car or rental car. As for me, though, I got here through Uber coming and going. So, if you're here in Salem to see the town, you may want to stop by the CVS store to pick up some stuff to make your day more memorable without feeling dehydrated or hungry. This store has a lot of things for you as a tourist or local to munch or sip bar while you go by your day here in Salem, Massachusetts. This store is right in the center of town, so you can't really miss it. It is definitely a nice stop for you if you need it. While you go about your day. It was kind of wild seeing a lot of people here in late October, but probably way more improved if there wasn't any festival going on. If you're here, it's a good place. I live in the heart of DT Salem and frequent this CVS but whenever I go, they never have the Poland Springs 20 oz water. The store is always in disarray and very cramped. Not a great selection in the food items either. I lived in Boston before moving to Salem and the CVS stores in Boston are far better. The pharmacist manager Herb and the dyed redhead cashier who works in the pharmacy are extemely rude and intolerable people. They should not be working in customer-facing positions. I watched a customer ask if she could check out in the pharmacy and the cashier pointed her to the front without even saying anything. She just stood there as I put my items on the counter and then asked, are you picking up a prescription? I said no and then she just looked at me with her sour face until I pointed to my partner getting a flu shot and said he's getting an immunization. I asked her, can you ring me up? She scoffed and then acted as if it was an imposition on her. I pointed out this is a checkout line (not just a pharmacy) and she called me a bitch. I looked over at Herb and repeated what she said and he immediately said 'no, she didn't. I didn't hear her.' So because he didn't hear her, he immediately says it's not true. And then he said she's filling prescriptions. I said no, she isn't. She's standing at the register (sending customers away in fact). After she denied it, he said he will call the police LOL. I asked why and he said because I was being 'nasty.' Excuse me? This is a seriously unprofessional, rude and ignorant set of fools you have representing your company. All prescriptions transferred to WALGREENS and telling everyone about my horrid experience with this disgusting duo. read more

I live in the area and use this CVS regularly especially for my many prescriptions at the pharmacy monthly. I have no problem with the store itself but , the pharmacy staff has changed with in the last few years and is not helpful at all. Every month there is a problem with my medications being filled or delivered( they DO deliver!) I end up calling several times and have been lied to about their calling me back or leaving me phone messages . They don't always do what they say they will. The stress is not very good for anyone. I am elderly and need my medications - l even have a card on file to pay for the medications. I have been laughed at by an employee, lied to about my orders, and about messages being left. This CVS is perfectly fine. It has the classic carpeting on the floors like all CVSs do. It's organized in a way that makes sense, and it's easy to find stuff. I'm glad this CVS exists where it does because I was in a pinch and needed some "lady stuff" immediately. They had what I needed, and I was able to get in and out quickly so that I could resume my jaunt around Salem. read more

We live near this CVS and shop there all the time. We love the place. The staff - all of them, pharmacists, clerks, managers - are super nice and most helpful. I often take advantage of their frequent sales on my favorite items. it is not as large as some CVS stores so it will not have as many items as the larger stores, but they do have a few versions of most anything you can think of. There are two CVS stores on Essex St. This smaller, family friendly one, is at 200 Essex St on the Pedestrian Mall. There is convenient parking on Church St. read more

As a disabled man who uses a medically necessary service dog; I learned that CVS/Carmark is not up to date on the Americans with Disabilities Act. I was shopping in the store and both a cashier and manager were not only ignorant about the law; but chose to attempt public humiliation and intimidation to discourage my patronage. After the animal was prescribed, I verified my access rights and responsibilities with both the U.S. Department of Justice and State's Attorney General's Office, so that I know I was following the Law. Yet neither the cashier or manager was aware of the Law. The manager asked me for legal advise about the law and I explained, I am not a Lawyer, I do not give legal advice, but as a Consultant I would be happy to assist with Training. The manager wanted the training; but had no authority to pay. "Let me get this right, you want something of value, but you don't want to pay, is that correct?" I'm sorry, I don't have that authority. O.K. so these batteries I have in my hand, should I just walk out without paying. The manager said that would be shoplifting. I said, you just attempted "UNDUE ENRICHMENT" with me, so why should I pay you? The poor fellow didn't know what to say. Look, if you really believed that I broke a law with my animal, you would have called the police. You and your cashier simply wanted to harass an old man with sever health problems. After calling Corporate CVS/Caremark, I learned that a complaint is the threat of a lawsuit. I contend that there is no such threat. Suggesting that the solution is and eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth is a threat; citizen complaints about violation of Civil Rights is simply exercising rights of an American Citizen, not a threat. Most of the store personnel are nice people, but the Corporate CVS/Carmark position is ANTI-AMERICAN. If memory serves from Civics I studied in High School, it is the Sixth Amendment of the Constitution which allows any Citizen to go to court over an unresolved dispute. This is a very old concept as King Solomon in the Five Books of Moses ended the eye for an eye behavior thousands of years ago. If you'd ever set foot inside a CVS prior to 1994 you'll feel like you've stepped back in time at the one on Essex Street in Salem. Sporting the signature weird automatic doors as the old locations and the long, narrow lay out, this CVS is just as dimly lit as any of the chain's growing number of locations were in the go-go 1980s. The only thing missing is the old school sign out front reading "Convenience Value Service" and the faux wood paneling in front of the pharmacy counter. That being the case, despite preferring the Rhode Island based CVS chain most of the time, I suggest you stick to the Walgreens on Derby rather than drive your Delorean to this shop. read more

this is a bodega cvs. it's like a cvs express or something... very small and cramped. i usually find what i'm looking for, but i feel like they somehow have more stuff at the bigger cvs locations, such as the one at the end of essex street. the pharmacy people move quick and are super friendly and don't give me disapproving looks when i pick up my pills. yay! i've never had a bad experience here and it's in super convenient walking distance to home. the other review of this cvs cracks me up. it totally does feel like a vintage cvs. BRING ON THE HYPERCOLOR TEES!! read more

This was the dirtiest and messiest CVS I have ever been in. In addition to that the service sucks. They must hire the folks who were let go from the DMV for being too grumpy. They don't let their customers use their restrooms! Are you serious. The people that tend to frequent drug stores are often older or sick and may need a restroom in a hurry. The staff at this CVS do not care. I will go to Walgreens or one of the local drugstores instead. These people should be ashamed of themselves. read more

I used the automated system over a week ago to fill two prescriptions that needed doctor authorization. Unfortunately, my doctor's office wasn't very responsive, but the pharmacy rep called me a few times to ensure I was in the loop and that they would not make the initial targeted refill date as a result. They kept trying to connect with my doctor's office and eventually got these filled. I so very much appreciate the efforts despite my doctor's less than stellar participation in the process.
