I grew up on the west coast and we have Safeway there (same company different name) so I was thrilled to be close to a Shaw's when moving here. This by far is the most superior grocery store in the area. It's always clean, never too busy (even on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve!) There are a couple of check stands and 6 self-checkout stations for your convenience. The layout of the store is perfect - you walk in and the produce is on the right. Make your way around to the deli, then meat and seafood, then dairy and bread. The middle stuff is well organized and easy to find. They have coupons and sales constantly. The only thing I find irritating, which is a corporate issue, is that you have to click each coupon individually in the app in order to receive your discount. I shop here. I find that the fruits and vegetables are very good. Also, the meat department is pretty good too. The deli has a lot of different choices of meat and cheeses. They also make prepared meals so we can buy mailed to take it home and cook it up later on. They have great values on muffins, bagels and donuts. Give it a try. I'm sure you'll like read more

Went in 11/26/2024, the place was practically empty of any food goods!!! No milk products, any sale items were empty. I didn't check the rest of the store, I was so turned off. I just left. We just got a Market Basket. I'll try there next time. read more

Deli manager was very rude. Came in 45 minutes before the store closed. There was no sign saying the deli was closed. Rang the bell once. No response. Rang again man came out of the door aggressively and said "yea it's a bell we're closed" read more

A Shop Shaws consistently, at least a couple times per month. They have great sales and get some of the sales to me online but things that I buy such as diet Pepsi and particular other products I always find their products to be fresh and well packaged and I have use their pick up Option many times. It's a good company with good employees. If you ask them a question they will walk you over to the product. If you can't find some thing last time I was there I couldn't find any cases of diet Pepsi and the guy actually went into the back room and brought out what I wanted because the floor needed to be restocked. I only shop here because of the sale items/deals, or if I can't find something at their competition on the other side of the parking lot. Their regular prices are very high, but the sale prices are really good, as long as you're careful to make sure to get them. To get some of the sale prices, you have to "clip" the coupons on your phone app or if you buy five of various items. And, since it often applies to only certain items for the brand, you might end up paying full price. So it takes some work and can border on deceptive. So why the one star review? Because of an issue I had trying to find out if something was on sale. They had Smartfood on sale but the price tags weren't on the shelves yet, indicating the sale price. These should be on the shelves before opening. I saw a clerk working at the end of the snacks aisle and asked her if the specific item was part of the promotion. She said she didn't know. I asked if I could find out and she got really agitated about it... said she was new to the department and that she hadn't finished the aisle. But she was very rude and when I asked why she was giving me a hard time, she said it was because I was. Then, when I went to check out, same thing... the cashier said she didn't know. Fortunately, it went through as one of the sale items. She was also acting rather rudely until the front-end manager came up to bag my items and, all of sudden, she became much friendlier. Honest, I'm usually Mr. Nice Guy when it comes to dealing with retail people. I worked in retail for years and know how nasty some customers can be. I know people are on edge because it's the holiday season and because of the COVID scare. But I didn't appreciate being treated as a nuisance when I was just trying to make sure I didn't get overcharged. I'll keep going, but I suppose I shouldn't try to talk to any of the personnel... food's expensive enough without getting verbally abused. read more

Always prefer Shaws to the nearby mad house that is Market Basket. To me the difference in prices is well worth the relaxed shopping environment. As mentioned in other reviews the Deli is always run by friendly staff. Their red bliss potato salad is a favorite. Never underestimate the power of relaxed grocery shopping! Shaws is often running promotions for stamps towards free kitchen ware and Monopoly campaigns for prizes as well. It's an added bonus for getting the shopping that you were going to do anyway. read more

I live close to this location but opt to go a little further for a better overall experience. There have been several instances when I've picked up items to add to my cart only to realize that they were already expired. Spills and messes also go unnoticed, there was a cracked egg on the floor of the dairy/egg section and during my half and our trip, the mess had not been cleaned up. There were plenty or workers on the floor or stocking but only one register was open. When one of the supervisors/managers in a blue polo decided to help the poor cashier out and open another register instead of taking the closest customers (who were POC) he instead called over another customer (who we also Caucasian), some definite bias going on there. I also witnessed that same supervisor yelling at an employee (who was also a POC) to put away a cart that had been abandoned - why the need to yell at your employees? Overall the regular cashiers are friendly but the supervisors or managers come across as rude to customers and their employees. I feel so sorry for any of the nicer workers that have to deal with them on a regular basis. read more

I don't shop here often as I am typically at Market Basket, however, tonight I was running late and Shaws was the one open. I find they are on par with Stop and Shop price wise and more expensive than Market Basket. Their produce section is beautiful and they have a nicely organized and fairly large organic/natural/gluten free section. They have good deals and you don't need a card anymore to get the sales/deals at checkout. The night retail manager, Marie, was so kind and super helpful. I'd give this place a zero star if I could. Went to bring back my cans to the machine in the lobby and a gentleman was there with a huge black trashbag so I brought my two Shaw's bags of rinsed cans to the courtesy desk. The woman quipped at me, snatched the cans away and barked "it's gonna be a while!" I asked why and she replied " Cuz I gutta count 'em!" Then proceeded to wait on the gentleman behind me. I was shocked to be spoken to and treated this way! She counted and then paid me $1.65. 33 measly cans?! No customer should be treated this way. I think her name was Lisa! read more

Produce department stocked well and clean. Nice assortment of salad dressings which made it difficult to narrow the decision down to one. I was super excited to find Pure Organic bars (which Whole Foods didn't have) in Cherry, Blueberry, Chocolate and Apple! I wanted some sorbet but the containers had frosty ice hanging off of the sides so I opted out. The cashier was quick and thanked me for bagging for her. read more

Shaws is very clean, fair prices (often cheaper than the nearby Market Basket), the in-store bakery has excellent products, extended hours - what's not to like ? In contrast, the nearby Market Basket is cramped, crowded, not nearly as inexpensive as some believe. The Deli often smells so bad a maggot would retch. And their in-store bread has less flavor and goes moldy much quicker than anything from Shaw's. read more

Sure, it's a nice respite from the horrors of Market Basket. And sure, unlike MB, it's aesthetically pleasing inside, with details like hardwood floors, non-fluorescent lighting, and no crowds. It just looks CLEAN. Shopping with my toddler strapped in the seat of my cart is almost a calming experience, which is really saying something. So why don't I go here regularly? I can tell you why. The exact same item costs at least a dollar more than it would at Market Basket. At least. This is especially true in the "natural foods" section. It pains me to pay such a huge markup within the same shopping center. Also? Expired food. In all the years I've occasionally done my shopping here, if I'm not 100% careful, I end up with at least one item that is past its sell by date. Last time I went in, to avoid the snowmaggedon crowds of Market Basket, I ended up with a pack of chicken sausages with an expiration date of early January. This was February. And a pack of ravioli that was at least six months out of date. Come on! Seriously. If I'm going to pay almost Whole Foods prices for nothing more than a pretty store, I expect better! read more

This review is specifically for the deli staff at Shaw's. I think they do an awesome job back there. My two favorite items are the deli corn chips and the fried chicken. I've always been a pretty big fan of the Colonel's original recipe chicken, but Shaw's is just as good if not better. I would guess that I pick up a bag of their deli fried chicken at least every other week. Last year I even placed a special large order for a picnic. They made it just right and exactly at the time I wanted to pick it up. If you like fried chicken, give it a try sometime. I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

I want to know why the negative review is not shown unless you scroll all the way down and click on " 1 review not shown" or something like that.. I think it should.be included in the review section because what he or she commented on is true from what I've have also seen and experienced here...especially with the expired food. I told a worker about 4 months ago when looking for guacamole dip, that the ones on the refrigerated shelf were oozing out of the container and way past the expiration date. He took them all off the shelf...but it shouldn't take customers to alert them of the fact. read more
