Adj: extensive but expensive My neighborhood CVS pharmacy/drug store. It's conveniently located in the shopping plaza on Rush River Dr next to the Bel Air. It's tucked into the neighborhood so it's pretty quiet and safe here except that some people drive very aggressively into this parking lot and then they will run you over if you don't dodge them. Watch out for them. But I digress. Anyways, this CVS sees a lot of seniors and retired persons because this neighborhood consists of a higher percentage of older folks who get their medications and other health related supplies here. The pharmacy, located at the back of the store, is always somewhat busy no matter when I go in whether morning on a weekend or afternoon on a weekday. We used to fill scripts here, but now we prefer Parkside Pharmacy. In any case, there's a big selection of all kinds of items here besides Rx. From snacks and candies types of food and pantry stable groceries to alcohol on a particular aisle, all the way on the far left of the store as you walk in, to cleaning products, and greeting cards and stationery items, there's a lot of variety if you're not too picky. I often get my cereals here when they're on sale for $2-3 a box. Otherwise, they're $6-9 a box! Yikes! So look for sales. You can see from my receipt that the regular price of this box of Great Grains cereal is $8.29 :O !!! Thankfully this one goes on sale often, it's one of my favs, and then I had a $2 off anything, so it was free! =D This doesn't happen but once in a blue moon. =P The other side of the store is where all the vitamins, over the counter drugs, first aid, cold/flu relief meds, and body & beauty supplies such as soaps and bodywashes, dental care, makeup, feminine and incontinence products, and baby items are located. Overall, this store has a lot to offer. However, they're usually quite short staffed so the cashier on duty is often stocking and you'll have to find him/her to help you check out if you don't want to use the self checkout or you can't because you are paying cash or buying alcohol. There's usually only 2 persons on the front end staffing the whole store besides the pharmacy staff who are dedicated to that service area only. The prices are quite exorbitant for many or even most items, but they do put things on sale so look for those, and clearance deals could be good, but that would be random and depends on how lucky you are. In short, this CVS is not bad, but not the best either, but it certainly is a convenient stop when you just need to pick up something quickly. read more

This is not about the pharmacy itself but their phone system they use to reorder medicines. What use to take less that 5 minutes to reorder prescriptions now takes over 30 minutes because CVS doesn't let me speak to an actual pharmacy tech or worker. They have so many prompts to go through that it wasted over 30 minutes of my time and I never got to reorder the prescription that I originally phone in for. Furthermore, many of the prescription names are so hard to pronounce that speaking them into the phone confused the stupid computer system. And there is no prompt to go to if I want to speak to a pharmacist at all! Get rid of self serve or go back to the old system where 1. I punch in the prescription number 2 give my date of birth ! That is all that's really needed in the past by using the self serve. Someone or CVS should be fired for implementing this horrible phone system !! read more

A few months ago we were forced to switch pharmacies due to insurance issues. CVS was not our choice. The switchover was chaotic and confusing. Communication is extremely poor and their ability to manage technology is severely lacking. I am baffled as to why they even offer online services. Their messaging system goes unanswered for days. Equally true for texting, email, or voice messaging. It's a struggle to even find someone to communicate with due to their ridiculously strict hours of operation. We have been given six months medication for one prescription and have had to beg repeatedly to get another one filled before running out. We have had language difficulties (we are native English speakers) with a few of the employees. The final straw today was that the computer system was unable to find us , our prescriptions, or our saved payment information. The employee had to have our prescription voided and then we had to be re-entered to be able to access any of our information. We've only been going here for two months and each time it is a compilation of different problems. With the money these companies make, I demand better service!! read more

I have had multiple mistakes on my medications. Often only giving me half the amount of medications that is ordered. One time I got 18 tabs.....should have been 30..... Meds are rarely ready on time. The store itself is overpriced for the over the counter items. The pharmacy staff are nice and helpful. I believe cvs is doing a disservice to its customers by understaffing the pharmacy portion. They are making millions on meds and can't do us the service of giving us the right medicine, on time in the right quantities. I know this is endemic to pharmacy at this time but it makes me want to switch to online mail order meds. read more

Horrible pharmacy. This pharmacy used to be compassionate and helpful. New ppl working and they have purposely and maliciously made getting my prescription difficult to the point I have stopped using cvs altogether. They won't order certain brands and they don't care if your prescription says brand name only. They tell you your prescription must say brand name only but when you get it changed to say that they do not honor it. They are rude with attitudes and make a simple non narcotic prescription difficult to get filled making it an allday event of phone calls. They act clueless about insurance and take forever to get insurance approval. I miss the old staff that worked here the new staff is incompetent and could care less about you getting what you need. Are you kidding me!!!!! Called in 3 times, placed on hold all three times, waited over 30 mins each time and disconnected all three times!!!!! Fix your Pharmacy call in line! You can hire someone to answer calls at home. Horrible!!!! I know Ca is short staffed but WTF. When I tried to talk to them to tell them not to put me on hold, he did it anyways!!!! All of the sudden, they do not fill prescriptions from Planned Parenthood! I've had the same medication refilled by this CVS pharmacy for the last 1.5 yrs. This time I go to pick up the refill, and first the pharmacy manager tells me that the prescription expired 2 days ago, so I can no longer pick up my refill. She says she has to call the physician to get it refilled. AFTER I leave, she calls to harass me about why the doctor's office is out of town, I explained to her that at P.P. nurse practitioners have the physician fill the prescription, but she wasn't satisfied with my answer and continued to treat me like I was lying to her and trying to con her. Like I said before, I've been using this CVS pharmacy, for the same medication without any issues whatsoever ever until today. I will never shop, refill, or do any kind of business with this CVS again. Shameful! read more

I know it's a Sunday, but the service cannot be this slow at a pharmacy! If you can, please do yourself a favor and avoid this pharmacy. The pharmacy technicians weren't very friendly. My grandparents made an appointment for their covid shot, but the pharmacist did not show up till 30 minutes after the appointment time. They didn't even acknowledge that they were late. So I decided to switch to CVS Pharmacy to take care of my pharmacy needs. I must first acknowledge that when I made that first call to speak with the pharmacist there, whose name is Yen. She was very soft spoken and very nice. When I explained the situation to her regarding why I was switching pharmacys. She was extremely understanding and professional. I asked her to call the next day to get my prescriptions transferred, but she told me that she would call that night. When I stopped in the next day to give her my insurance information and went thru my prescriptions everything was not in order so I called the other pharmacy to let them know. I just want to acknowledge the Pharmacist Ms.Yen for her caring professional attitude and patients in this situation. It felt so wonderful to have someone that was so helpful and caring at the same time. Pharmacist Yen had a very caring personality. I also like that the other employees here are all very friendly and helpful as well. They always speak to you when you enter the store. I have never taken the time to look around in the store before. All the other times I've come in the store in the past it was to go back to the pharmacy because I've gotten one or two prescriptions in the past. I found the employees that work back in the pharmacy to be nice, but it was always just in and out so to speak. Now that this will be my new pharmacy I guess I'll get a chance to see some of the wonderful items they offer and start to look out for the CVS coupons. I've notice some pretty unique items which I always thought were odd for a pharmacy to sell but according to some of the other reviews that I've read, which I might add were pretty cool.I feel great about my decision to change over to CVS. Its a new year and what better time to give someone else thee opportunity to please me with my needs. JK.. But I am looking for to doing business with CVS. Thanks to Ms. Yen. Love coupons? Than you'll love CVS. Poor trees, the amount of coupons CVS offers rolls down a foot or two of paper. Do not let it go to waste, most of their coupons give a solid bargain. I mean who doesn't like BOGO offers or CVS bucks? I frequent this location and they often have better deals than competing pharmacies. However, their stock lefts much to be desired. Often times they do not have stock of certain items and you would see empty spaces. I usually come back a few days and they have it restocked but then there are new empty spaces :/ The staff are wonderful though. I recently filled a prescription at CVS and was charged 3X the usual co-pay for the specific prescription. When I asked why the charge was so high, the employee said it was because the prescription was a 3 month supply. I told her I am always charged the co-pay per prescription, not by number of months supplied. She said, if I didn't like it, complain to my Insurance company and ask them for a refund. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Medications aren't refilled on time even on auto refill. You try to call and they just leave you on hold. In fact, they left me on hold past closing which I didn't realize until I looked at their hours. They knew I was there because someone picked up and asked me to hold. Horrible customer service. My husband's prescription apparently needs to be special ordered so they just ignored it instead of taking care of it or notifying him that he needs to use a different pharmacy. I've never had an issue with any other CVS which likely means it's this particular location that is the problem. As a health care provider myself, I find this unacceptable. I have had nothing but good experiences here. I take over 10 different medications, and I've NEVER had a problem with any of them at any point. I come here often and mostly for the pharmacy, but the employees are really nice too. The pharmacist Yen and everybody else at the pharmacy are amazing! The most I've ever waited when I was doing a last-minute refill was 15 minutes. Sad to see how many bad reviews this CVS has considering I've been here hundreds of times with no issues. :( read more

This place used to be good. It had gone so downhill in the past few months. Refills not done, late fills with a very rude staff. The final straw was the doctor faxing in a script two days before it was needed and they didn't fill it. Called to see if it was ready and the lady yelled at us after we asked why it wasn't ready saying they were busy. So... 2 hours later I stopped in and... it still wasn't ready. The staff seems nice .They greet you every time you walk in. However, for the past year or so my parents have had problems with the Pharmacy. None of their meds are ready for pick up when they are told they would be, if they ask for Brand name for a certain medication the staff automatically fills it for generic, a lot of the times they run around looking for my parents medications when my parents go in but can never seem to find them. I called once to see if something was ready and spoke to the Pharmacist Yen, although she understood me well, her English seems a bit off. read more

Their pharmacy has vastly improved over the last several months - I'd feel a bit guilty if I didn't let you know that. What's gotten better? Well, for starters, no more maiden name/ married name confusion and no more broken promises (call-backs). At least two of the folks who work back there can be kinda short at times but I'm not too bothered by that. This place drives me nuts. I do not go here often, but every time I do I am struck but how slow the teller's are. Every Time. I also hate being asked if I am a member of their club. There's something odd about this CVS. Maybe it's the unnecessary, unavoidable, automatic doors that open every time some one walks by them. Maybe it's the fact that the management doesn't seem to care that all this energy is wasted on the AC when the doors open. I had not been in this neighborhood CVS for awhile since they always seemed to be out of stuff, especially advertised sales. Much better visit a couple of days ago. Store seems cleaner. The staff has always been friendly and helpful and still is. I was in for an ad item and they only had one box of the K cups but offered nicely to look to see if they had any in the back. None there but let me substitute another brand for the same price. That was a first and I was surprised and happy. read more

I have been with this CVS pharmacy for 5 years. I was very happy for 4.5 of those years. They shined in the areas of customer service, getting things out on time, and making sure you had your medications filled without interruption. That all ended in January with CVS getting rid of their knowledgeable pharmacists in exchange for a young, inexperienced, and inefficient staff. If it were just the learning curve of getting new people, I could handle an adjustment period. Unfortunately, the people they have hired to take care of the customers are often rude and unkind in general. The pharmacist herself is very nice. She is not fast or experienced, but at least she is a nice person, and is kind to the customers. With some training in managing orders, she could be good. My family and I need several important medications on a monthly basis. In the last 5-6 months, this store has consistently been late on filling my medications or have not filled them at all. I have to call over there to just to remind them that my prescriptions are late being filled. The staff then gets angry at me for asking for it to be filled promptly. When my doctor made the effort to fax in a medication before the weekend, CVS did not fill it. It was very urgent do I called them, and they said they never received it. So, I called UC Davis. They were able to look it up and determine that it was indeed at CVS, and it had been since before closing on Friday night. I called, but was put on hold for 10 minutes before they hung up on me. When I went in for the pills, the tech behind the cash register lied to me and told me the doctor's request had just come in that morning. She told me it would be 15 minutes, then barked at me when I asked if it was ready 45 minutes later. Turns out, they hadn't even started on it. Meanwhile, I was experiencing heart problems as a direct result of not having this medication. I loved this place, and used to do a lot of shopping while picking up my meds. But, it's gone downhill so badly that the supervisors don't want to come out on the floor because they are receiving so many complaints. I kept hoping it would get better, but I can't risk my health any longer by staying with this pharmacy. read more

Incompetence plus indifference equals horrendous customer service. While one of the techs did take the initiative to locate a back-ordered medication after her co-worker (Beverly) assured her it did not arrive in today's shipment, that was the only moment of sense in what was otherwise a nonsensical, Alice-In-Wonderland experience. I don't need to go into details about the 30-minute wait that followed the 3-day wait for a pickup that was happening 2 hours after the prescription was supposed to be ready. I will say that at checkout, Beverly, was there again to try to thwart my ability to leave the store with all my prescriptions. Asking everyone except the conscientious tech from the beginning of this sojourn, she ran around in literal circles looking for a medication I assured her had been pulled and placed to the side. Finally locating the second prescription, she proceeded to talk over her shoulder to co-workers and pharmacist while I was checking out. Ultimately, she snapped at me to sign another screen (that I had already signed) and, upon realizing the delay was on her end, finished the transaction and shoved the bags across the counter at me. On advice from an audiologist, I bought your hearing aid batteries in Nov. 2011, when they were l/2 price. After much frustration, and inability to hear, or even WORK, because I couldn't hear, I called my own audiologist, who advised me that many of the sale batteries didn't work - not just one or two, but THE ENTIRE PACK. This proved to be the problem. Now, what do I do with over $50.00 worth of batteries which are useless. I am writing this review, because I am very disturbed by the shopping experience I just had at the CVS on Rush River Dr. in Sacramento, CA. I went into the store to pick up a prescription, however on the way out I was confronted by the District Manager Ryan Vaughn whom aggressively walked up to me asking if I needed help with anything. If you've ever been to CVS you know that the pharmacy is located at the back of the store so you have to walk through the isles to leave. Apparently Mr. Vaughn assumed that I picked up something on my way out of the store because as I got into my vehicle I saw him standing by the door writing down my license plate number. Once I saw this, I was very shocked, and I exited my vehicle to ask him if there was a problem. He proceeded to say no with a smirk on his face. I told him that it seemed as though he had followed me to the front of the store and had taken my license plate number down. I told him that I had not stolen anything, and asked him to please pull the cameras so he could see that I had not stolen anything from the store. He refused, and I asked him why he thought I stole something, and was it due to my nationality? He said no, however a heckler in line stated yes I was stealing because I am Black. I was very shocked by this as well. Mr. Vaughn appeared to agree with the woman's comment, because he smirked. He did not ask her to leave the store. He proceeded to ask me what I wanted from him, and I told him an apology would suffice. He refused, saying that he did nothing wrong. I was so offended and mortified by this encounter. I will be changing my pharmacy, and will NEVER visit this store again. I have never felt so uncomfortable in my entire life. I am hoping that Corporate can speak with Michael Vaughn regarding how to treat valuable customers, whom spend their hard earned money in CVS. read more

Omg...lost my prescription! Also does not fullfill prescription by promised time. Witnessed others who have been promised their prescription and were turned away because it was not filled...even though they were promised it. My own example, my doctor sent a different prescription to be fullfilled by 3pm but it was not even in the queue when i went to pick it up by 5pm! I give them a 0 because today they lost the hard copy of my prescription and they expect me to remember who i gave it too!!!!! Really? Are you so unprofessional? read more

WOW i went in here to drop off a script for my cousin who broke her leg. After standing in line over 15 Minute no kidding over 15 minutes I was told they do not have the pain pills in stock it would be a week before they get them in. Why did'nt they say that when i was at the drop off window they have two people on staff on a friday in the afternoon. The pharmacist also wrote the wrong DOB on the script so now we have to wait for these dumb asses because no one else will take a new script with the wrong DOB on it. This is my second time at this CVS. I never shopped at CVS till I started "Couponing." I was actually in the area to pick up something from a friend so I stopped by here with my daughter hoping to find some diapers!! Of course, the shelf was cleared since it was the deal of the week. I was able to get a rain check for the items. Maybe someday rain checks will manually print like a receipt.. man the cashier's handwriting is worse then my 5 year old son's writing. read more

In February of 2021, I went to CVS to return a pair of reading glasses and was immediately treated terrible by the store manager Angel Carbajal. She immediately "copped" a attitude with me by saying I needed a receipt and I only can get store credit and proceeded to send me back 3 times to get the exact eye glasses so I could get my money back. She had trouble with the return so she took it out on me and tried to send me back for the fourth time and I refused, there was no other customers at this time. I finally got my money back after 25 minutes because I had my receipt but what's her problem except being lazy and not doing her job. Not once did she apologize for sending me back there and she didn't know what she was doing. I also tried calling the district manager Ryan and his boss John until this is resolved. 2 years later, and the pharmacy still has yet to change. new staff, same old procedures. i went in to fill basic ibu profen and was told 1 prescription ahead of me was still a 30 minute wait. well, that 30 minute wait turned out to be 2 bloody hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. 2 flippin' hours to count 40 ibu profen!!!! wtf. let me be a pharmacist and get paid 150k to take 2 hours to count 40 pills out. time to change pharmacies. asap! read more

I love this CVS! The young male manager is extremely helpful and nice, as are the workers. Everyone here is polite and approachable.

While I was searching for razors at the store today, I saw a clerk who appeared to be the store manager, Glen. After asking him where I can find razors, he looks at me and tells me that I should leave the store and grabs the things which I wanted to purchase from my hands. He told me that I have stolen from that store before and he is not going to sell me anything. I have never stolen from any store in my life, including this CVS. First, for a couple of minutes, he just keeps on telling me that I have stolen from that store and he has seen videos. When I ask to see these recordings, he tells me that it is hard to go back to these recordings and I am not allowed to view them. He told me that I had a similar backpack and the same haircut (short hair) as the girl who stole from the store in the past. That seemed to be good evidence for him to start accusing someone at the store between the isles who is innocent. After arguing for about 5-10 minutes, he apologizes many times (it seemed that he got concerned when I told him that I am going to report about this incidence and also write on Yelp) and gives me a discount. It is unprofessional and unacceptable to accuse and humiliate someone while having no adequate evidence. I am not even sure why I did not leave after that kind of treatment and decided to buy these things. But I am pretty sure that this store lost one of their customers. read more

Unfortunately this pharmacy has swiftly declined over the past 5 years. With online pharmacies much more efficient and the staff turnover, I'll be switching to Walgreens. If your schedule permits long wait times and several trips to the pharmacy for the same prescription because it was mismanaged or the staff was uninformed, go to this pharmacy. read more
