We had to stay in the store for at least fifteen minutes to make sure we didn't have any adverse side effects. That's important bc you just never know what could happen. Bc we receive our vaccine immunization there we both receive 10% off of coupons for shopping at Safeway. We do shop there on occasion. Plus they had complimentary N95 masks there at the pharmacy if you wish to pick one up for yourself. This pharmacy does answer phone calls if you have questions about anything. On 9/25/25, I called to see if they had my prescription, I was told by Nathan that they didn't have it and I should call them back the next day. I called the next day and the phone rang unanswered. Finally, Nathan told me that they hadn't received their shipment yet, but I should check back after 11:00am. I called after 11:00am and he told me that they didn't get it. When I asked to speak to the pharmacist, she wouldn't take my call. Instead, she kept giving instructions to Nathan (who appeared to be very intimidated by her). I was told that this medication is difficult to get but he would try to find it at another Bel Air pharmacy. I finally just told him I would call back on Monday. I called back on Monday, 9/29/25 and was told to call back after 11:00 am. When I called back, again no one would answer the phone. I tried for 20 minutes to talk to someone. I finally got the pharmacist on the phone (that was a miracle). She VERY SLOWLY and indifferently said "Could you please hold". I said "No, I've been trying to get ahold of you for 20 minutes." Then she said, "How can I help you?" I told her I've been trying to get my medication refilled but nobody answers the phone. She told me, "We are two people down and we've got three customers in line." Then, I remembered that this was the exact thing she had told me last month when I couldn't get someone to answer the phone! (If two people called in sick AGAIN, then she is the reason they didn't want to come to work.) She told me that the medication is still not in, and I would have to call back. Not doing this again. I wound up calling the highest rated pharmacy on Yelp and spoke with Martha who answered the phone after the first ring. What a breath of fresh air! She was so pleasant and nice. She took all my information and ordered the medication. My medication will be in their pharmacy by tomorrow without fail. I had forgotten what good service was. As a result, all my prescriptions will be transferred from Bel Air to them and I will buy my groceries elsewhere. With this special package you will know if you took or missed a dose of medication... I love it because I am forgetful. You can also opt for regular bottles as well if you like. The pharmacist are super helpful and treat you with kindness unlike the chain store pharmacist. They offer delivery service for your medication monthly on a schedule so no more trying to set up a delivery run. Going into the store is quiet and not overwhelming packed with sick people waiting for their medication. Should you need to wait a few minutes there is a large atrium with sitting bench and vending machines to boot. I use to dread the pharmacy but now it's not dreadful anymore. They are experienced with insurance issues and working with doctors on POA. They have a store with essential medication you might need for everyday ailments or colds. The way to go is Independent Pharmacy's and this is a good one!

Since that first referral I have been regularly getting medicine for one of my pets there, and have even requested another pet's prescriptions be sent over to them. The staff and pharmacists are exactly who you want on your side when you are dealing with the complexities of medicating pets. And what is cool about this pharmacy is that they don't just cater to pets, but they compound for humans AND animals. After my experiences with them, I would definitely request prescriptions for myself, or my family, to be sent to them, too! They have gone above and beyond, to help me get the right type, and quantity, of medication for my pets. And because of that professionalism and care, I will continue to go to them for my guys' compounding needs. For some context: for years, I had tried to use pills for my guys. I'd give them whole pills, placed them in edible pockets, crushed them up, mixed them in with wet food and broths -- it didn't matter. It was ALWAYS a hassle. And while yes compounded medication will cost a little more than buying tablets directly from the vets. Remember: you are paying for a professionally made solution, designed to taste appetizing for your pet (if given orally) or to be easily administered externally (transdermal). The price is nothing compared to avoiding the likelihood of unintentionally traumatizing your pet, and yourself, when you try to do it on your own. Make it easier on them and on you, it is worth paying a little bit now to save everyone on the chaos in the long-term. And if you have a pet that has a chronic condition, you're going to want to make medicine-time as smooth as possible, because it's going to be a regular part of having them in your life. In the end, there is nowhere else I would rather go.
