Holiday stuff on sale, food, pharmacy and beer. Is this Christmas? No, it's Target!

Target, even an urban mini Target like this one, has it all. Food, clothing, laundry wash, skin wash, tooth wash, pet shampoo and greeting cards. Even booze. What's more to want?

This is the video games section of this target. The endcap of the electronics aisle.

What happens when you open a CVS in downtown Sacramento, but you stuff it with everything from Target and use their branding? You get the Midtown Target. It is the smallest Target store I have ever seen (even smaller than the one in Oakland BY FAR)! But make no mistake, this store features almost everything that an ordinary Target has, but in a tiny package. They also offer parking on the building's roof. It manages to keep the same layout and decor of a full sized Target. The only difference is the grocery section is L-shaped and the electronics and toys sections are in the middle, near the toys and home goods, while the overhead signage that tells you the sections are red versions of what you see in the grocery section. They also were able to stuff a full sized CVS section and Starbucks counter. This place is great for the apartments and hotels nearby, where you simply come in, get what you need and leave. The carts are also mini-sized, even though the aisles are slightly smaller, but not as small as the Safeway in downtown SF. The checkout stand is almost like how CVS does theirs, with 3 checkout stands on the right, and a few self-checkouts on the left. The price is what you expect from any other NorCal Target, electronics are expensive and groceries are similar to Safeway. As a visitor to Sac, I haven't noticed any rudeness from employees, and they were eager to help at the checkout, even when they announced they were other self-checkouts. This is such a novelty of a Target, you should check it at least once.

This is a smaller scale target, but still a very nice one. Very well organized and open floor plan make finding your items easy. Despite the smaller location they did have items that aren't available at other locations. A bonus: Starbucks is on site! Self check out, returns, etc are also all available.

4-16-21: Target midtown open! Of course, a Starbucks.

4-16-21: Target midtown, soft opening til Sunday, April 18. Some shelves still being stocked. Plenty of staff on hand, greetings abound at front door. Already busy, folks are welcoming a mini Target to the neighborhood. Set up in an urban footprint, this small store packs a punch with many items found in a big Target. I guess the store is too small to have an electric shopping cart. There is a wheelchair, somewhere, I was told. There's a CVS pharmacy and oodles of meds, vitamins, makeup and sundries. The grocery section is largish. Refrigerated and frozen foods, fresh produce, canned goods, bread, eggs, milk, they've got it all. No furniture, bicycles, luggage or big items; they just don't fit. There is a row with kitchen cookware, cooking utensils and small electrics, like water kettle, toaster, etc. I came for yogurt and house shoes, a list of oddball items that makes a department store useful. I also picked up a blouse, not on the list. Metered street parking and a rooftop parking lot.

I was very excited for a new Target to open up and especially one that is walking distance from my work. I stopped in on Saturday and it was definitely smaller, think more like a Target boutique! It had a little of everything from groceries to home goods to women's clothes. The store was clean and well organized. Staff was also very friendly! Since this location is on J Street - there is so street parking, but I believe there is also a parking garage since I did see an elevator at the front of the store. Oh, and how could I forget...there's even a Starbucks inside! Self check-out area too! I am very excited about this new location and can't wait to check them out again!

Price range: affordable and lifesaving, specially for midtown locals. To consider: there is a FREE parking garage (keep your eyes peeled)! Wait time: usually not busy. They have like 5 self check outs and like 1 or 2 cashiers. Chaise it's will GLADLY tell the line that there is self checkout available. Food & drinks details: lots of wine, beer, and alcohol to choose from. Shoutout(s): to Target! We needed a grocery store since the Rite Aid closed some months ago. This place is a gem for locals. Location review: amazing. We locals needed this. Thanks for adding the parking garage. Always at least 5 spots available. Service: eh. Sometimes cashiers are jolly, other times not so much. We're all human. Sometimes it's close to closing and they WILL ask you nicely to hurry up. People want to go home, I get that. Expectations: I expected to pay a premium, but honestly prices are what you'll find at any other Target. This store feel like a cheat code. I'm so used to paying a premium in midtown. So cool to have this place in midtown! Improvements: at least 1 cashier at the register at all times. Some of us don't want to fly with the self checkout. Some of us can't physically manage that. Some of us don't want to do that. Last words: thank you for opening this up. We needed it. Lots of fresh food, clothing, toys, and everyday essentials!

The new midtown Target is less a Target and more a glorified drugstore. One corporate brand (CVS) has been traded for another (despite there still being a CVS in the back) with terrific results. This is both what every decaying Walgreens and CVS could be and a much needed midtown shop focused on convenience, in every sense of the word. Walking in, you'll find a clean and organized layout with fully stocked shelves and a larger assortment of products than the CVS before it. There is a drug counter in the back and a Starbucks up front. I walked in just to peruse and ended up leaving with a bag full of goodies I never thought I needed. Also unlike CVS, the customer service is nice. I saw smiles on faces and was asked if I needed help. It wasn't anything to put in the customer service hall of fame, but it was a far cry better than the complete absence of service that came before.

17th and J It's a smaller Target and has it's own parking lot which is marked for those pick up orders, staff parking and us regular folks. There were signs for elevators. There's two! But also, there's street parking. My coworker did bestow a little tip for me though. She said the wheels on the cart lock at a certain distance so if you plan on taking a cart to your vehicle-- you should park in their lot. There's also a Starbucks inside. There's literally one two blocks away but whatever. Self Checkout seems to be the way to go. They have more kiosks than cashiers and that works for me. I'm in and out pretty quickly.. It's clean. It's stocked. Easy to navigate through..

The new Midtown Target is so new, it has a 279 Area Code! They took the old Office Depot building and installed a small Target store common in urban areas. It is much smaller than a normal suburban store, but it does have rooftop parking including their pickup service. Taking an elevator in Target is somewhat different! The store is small, but very bright with lots of windows facing the street. This is somewhat unusual for a Target. Inventory is limited, but they have a grocery section with booze, clothing, drugstore items, and general merchandise. It is easy to find the basics here, and they likely cater to the local residents needing smaller items without renting a Gig or waiting for Amazon. There is even a rather large Starbucks! Access is fairly easy unless the parking lot is full. I would not recommend a large trip unless you are doing pickup or know the lot is empty. On my Saturday morning trip, the lot was rather empty. Approach the store on J Street while in the far left lane for best access. I cannot say I will visit this store much because I do not live in the area, but I think they will do a decent amount of business from the locals. It is much easier than heading to Natomas or the Broadway locations, but the Midtown Target could easily be overwhelmed by the next TP shortage or run on Titos!

Half the makeup and barrettes have been stolen. Like 8-packs have 4 barrettes left. A very sad state. Is anyone in charge here?

We are shopping for a love seat so my husband sat in all of them hoping to find one. He liked the red minimalist one the most. The only thing is it looks like it might fold out to a futon, but it doesn't and we really need one for when my mother in law comes to visit and other visitors. They have so many items that I kept pointing to and saying "We used to have one of these." The most memorial items were the Pyrex, which my parents still have and a rotary phone which my parents still have just in case the electricity goes out. They also have the push button one and my parents have one of those too. My parents request to keep their land line and just have the local plan which they use to call their friends. They are afraid the power will go out and they won't be able to call anyone for help. And the power does go out in the winter on a regular basis where they live so this is really good for them. The new phones all use electricity. This shop also has lots of cases of jewelry and their broaches were on display on a mine mannequin. They were very sparkly, but I didn't have the time to really browse as the furniture took up most of my time. As we were finishing up my husband made the comment that he really needs to bring his sister and her husband here as she loves these types of store. They are planning on visiting so we'll be taking her here and to Zocalo too as shopping bring on a appetite.
