The store always looks like it's going out of business. Most of the shelves are empty. They still have a great beer and wine section and deals. So much cheaper than Raley's. Thus we come here for the Beer and Wine and make a separate trip of it. Inconvenient, but worth the money savings. They also have only one shopping cart. You really score if you get the cart. When I walked in, it was like being transported back in time. They have old school lighting that makes everything look yellower? Maybe it's fluorescent bulbs, not really sure but it made me feel like I was walking back into the 90's. That being said, they have all the products someone of today could want and yes, they're at current day pricing as well. It would have been nice to go back in time to 50 cent sodas and quarter candy bars... We stopped in for some allergy medicine and snacks and were able to grab both very easily. The staff members we interacted with were friendly and we were in and out pretty quickly. They also have a good amount of parking spots AND this location is also a scoop shop if you're craving some ice cream. read more

We went to pick up medications from the pharmacy. Store inventory was incredibly low--so many empty shelves. The pharmacy was also a bit late opening back up after lunch, but it wasn't a huge deal. On the plus side, there is a free blood pressure checker (cleaning wipes need to be restocked, though), and the Thrifty ice cream is well-priced. read more

Considering how much I loathe the other nearby Rite Aid off Folsom Blvd., I was pleasantly surprised to find how different this store is. Drugstore visits can vary wildly depending on a number of factors. My experience, however, was pretty good and worth repeating. The staff member I talked to, an older man, was super nice and helpful by walking me down the aisles to find an item I was having trouble locating. They actually had everything I wanted as opposed to the grossly understocked shelves at the Folsom spot. They serve ice cream here - always a Rite Aid plus. And there wasn't a line when I hit the register; quick in and out service. It's nothing exciting or a reinvention of the wheel, but it's amazing how a few simple things can change a big chain experience from good to bad. read more

I'm going to update my review of this Rite Aid. Because it's just a few blocks away I do shop here with some frequency. First, starting with the Pharmacy, it clearly has gotten better than what I detailed the last time. In fact significantly, and to a level that is very good. The other parts of the store are good also. Particularly the staff here. This would include the Pharmacy. Super helpful and pretty top-notch. Much appreciated Guys, thanks. The one thing that would keep me from giving five stars is their inventory. I guess with Rite Aid going through bankruptcy that creates some problems with having everything in stock. They clearly have a lot of holes on the shelves for the items they sell. But other than that, this is a very good place. read more

So we stopped here to get some delicious Rite Aid ice cream. All that amped up excitement led to the most awkward experience. In case you don't know, a single scoop of their ice cream equates to two physical scoops. Our 2.5 year old grand daughter wanted two flavors and we thought, why not? So we asked the tall guy with the dark hair behind the counter, "would you mind mixing two flavors since you have to scoop up the ice cream twice?" He looked at us like we were crazy and said, "no." I've been getting this ice cream since I was in my teens and never had a problem purchasing a single scoop (two physical scoops) of Chocolate Malted Crunch and Coconut Pineapple Really, Rite Aid? Are you really going to do this not provide proper customer service training. We'll find a happy place for our granddaughter to enjoy ice cream. If you can't, provide the happy place, then don't serve ice cream. read more

I purchased Rite Aid brand whitening alcohol-free mouthwash. I got it on sale, and put it in my cupboard while I finished using my name brand mouthwash. After I started using this mouthwash, I noticed that my lips (both inside and outside of my mouth) were raw and very, very chapped and my teeth felt strangely stripped of enamel like they do if you have ever bitten into something caustic like an uncured olive. I thought maybe it was because I had caught a cold and had been sucking on some cough drops that I don't usually do. So I immediately stopped using the cough drops and got over the cold but continued to have raw lips, which were now starting to crack. I was using lip balm multiple times a day and ointment at night trying to make it better but my lips just got worse. My mouth is red to the point that it is embarrassing. I'm trying to use concealer to hide the chapped skin around my lips. I realized that it was the worst immediately after using this mouthwash. There is something seriously unhealthy and wrong with this mouthwash. I will dump the bottle and buy name brand in the future. Do not buy or use this product! read more

I'm so sad. I love coming to this location for ice cream (I'm super pregnant so this is even more important now). And I just had the WORST experience. The cashier helping me was the most unprofessional and unhelpful person I have dealt with in this setting. Pointed at me to let me know he would ring me up before getting my ice cream. Asked for a price on an item, blew me off. No name tag, but I called to let someone know and he answered the phone as Julian. "Manager was on lunch" with no attempt to help me over the phone or in person. I told him that he was unhelpful and no apology. Disappointing! read more

Initially posted as a two star review because of a problem getting my medication but it was not fair that pharmacist was not being credited for helping out. If you get your medication here then please get staff names because when I showed up to pick up my medication no one had a clue and apparently the staff I spoke with, twice, had left for the day. So odd. The poor pharmacist had to scramble and quickly work on my medication. read more

I'm happy to have a Rite Aid close to our building. Advantages are we can always shop either for work or home during our breaks. But the prices are little higher than other Rite stores which could be due to the rent. Anyways, Halloween stuffs are almost gone and they have a sale right now. This store is nice and clean but I don't like opening their door. I wish they had those sensor doors. That would be nice. read more

Don't try to steal anything here. The metal detector alarm went off as I walked IN to the store. One of the male employees told me not to worry and that he'd tackle me when I exited the store. Points for humour. Since this is a new place everything is really tidy and organised. Nice wide aisles too so you don't have to worry about the nosy people giving you questionable looks when you're in a certain aisle. You know the one. The metal detector got me again as I exited the store but the employees just waved me through. I suggest they look into fixing that problem before someone gets any criminal ideas. read more

The staff at this location is seriously amazing. All of the employees are really friendly, and the pharmacy staff goes above and beyond. I've been a pain in their asses, too! I had a prescription that we knew was covered, but kept getting denied. Nobody at my doctors office or insurance company seemed to be able to give us a reason, and it was two weeks of frustration for everyone. The staff at Rite Aid helped me get it cleared up, and put up with me being a bit of a jerk about it at one point. Not my best moment. They've also helped me get other things covered that my crappy insurance was giving me trouble with, and filled scripts for me five minutes before closing when I realized I ran out and should have called hours ago. They've provided consistently good service, and the store is always clean and organized. Definitely the best chain drugstore in the area. read more

I am from out of town, but lived in Sac for many years and it is my vacation home, especially in the months when the middle of the US is COLD! Anyway I had a perscription to be filled today. I have had great success with this Rite Aid pharmacy. This day was no exception. I had my old insurance card with me, but not the latest information. Mike was waiting on me and went out of his way to save me almost $100 by searching out the correct codes on the computer. Also if you are a member don't forget to use your Welness card. Bunch of ladies on a power trip engaging in questionable practices . Pharmacy refused to fill a prescription despite having my prescription on file, after the date it was supposed to be filled. They told me that they no longer filled prescriptions from my physician but, neglected to tell me that information before it was time for my scheduled refill . I have been filling this prescription with this same/only location for the past year. I had to contact my physician who had to cancel the old prescription held by Rite Aid, and rewrite the prescription which took several days. I could have saved this time had someone at Rite Aid informed me that they don't take prescriptions from my provider. They have also backdated my prescriptions because, they were only were able to fill a few days worth as they were out of the medication. They turned around and wrote on the bottle that they had filled it in its entirety as opposed to noting that it was a partial fill due to their negligence. The state monitoring system should look into them and their training/protocol. The retail/store employees are fantastic, it's just the pharmacy employees who are a mess/rude/questionable in their handling practices. read more

I was surprised by how friendly the staff here were. Especially the store manager... I walked in with my nephew and my niece to buy some Ice Cream, and the manager told us he would be with us as soon as hes finished with his costumer, which was very polite of him. Just passing through town & baby girl got sick. Runny nose & cough. Checked yelp for recommendations. The rite aid closest to our hotel was described at "ghetto-fabulous" in multiple reviews, so I went to this location. The pharmacy was closed, and the store was about to close, but the staff was extremely helpful & friendly! When I worked in retail I hated when customers came in right before closing (this is why I am no longer in retail), but they were great. They understood out situation & were patient and helpful. This is my preferred Rite Aid in the neighborhood. It seems bigger, cleaner and less crowded than the Alhambra location, and I can usually get in and out with ease. I did, however, recently switch a prescription over to Target and found that it was something like $20 cheaper. Hard to argue with that. But they do have a brand of wine that's only $2.79 or so, not quite Charles Shaw, but if I'm not willing to brave the Trader Joe's parking lot, this is a reasonable alternative. read more

Very nice staff and relatively clean. I went in tonite to pick up some hand soap and get some ice cream (LOVE Mint Chip!). I was very happy with the service and the fact the store rarely seems to have more than 5 people in it at any given time. A little hard to get in the parking lot, the entrance just seems to pop up as soon as you go through the light, but easy to navigate and the spots seemed oversized. (which is nice!) read more

I love Rite Aid. All Rite Aids, really, but this is for the one on J Street since it's the one I frequent the most since it's so close to work. Never mind the angry review below. I love Rite Aid not for their friendly service or store cleanliness, or other nit-picky reasons... I love Rite Aid because every time I go there, I am bound to find some incredible deals, thus saving me hard-earned dollars. Today, I got a buy-one, get-one-free shampoo in addition to a 75% clearance on the highly coveted Sebastian line of products. And this is not some special, secret sale, mind you. This kind of thing goes on everyday at Rite Aid. And that's why I love them. These are the kind of specials that will keep me coming back again and again. I've heard whisperings of Rite Aid going under and would hate to see one of my favorites drug stores go the way of many now-defunct businesses. read more

Never go to rite aid ever. Went to fill cough syrup w codine and they won't fill it without placing a verification call to dr office. Well it's after 5 pm so they expect me to go without meds until tomorrow. Nothing wrong w rx. Not missing date or signature. Just a lame policy. They do not care about patient well being. Only their lame policy. Cvs said they would fill it and cvs went the extra step to verify w rite aid that nothing was wrong w rx before I drove down there to drop it off. Also been patient of rite aid store for years. Not like they haven't seen rx from this dr before or know I have no history of controlled substance fills. read more
