I can see why this place is so poorly rated. I've had multiple bad experiences here. The people are nice but just shady practices from CVS I guess. They have filled the wrong meds or overcharged me multiple times and they can't fix it or "take returns" even though I never left the store. The last straw was they charged me $14.99 for literally the medicine I can pick up off their shelf for 8.99. Then they wouldn't let me return it even though it was sealed in the bag and all still. I was finishing up grabbing my items when I heard a lady at self-checkout ask for help. The employee behind the counter said, 'I can't help you, I just clocked out,' and rushed out the door. The lady had to wait for the cashier, who was assisting someone else, to finish and come over to help her. As I was leaving, I asked the employee, who was on his break, why he couldn't be a decent person and at least ask what the lady needed help with. He said he couldn't help because he wasn't on the clock and could get fired. I plan on letting the store know about this situation. If I were in his position, I would have helped to see if it was something simple, and if it required a code or further assistance, I would have let the lady know the cashier currently working could assist her further. I've worked in retail, and we never treated customers like this. read more

First, let me say I haven't taken any pain pills pretty much since March of this year when I got my hip replaced. Within three weeks I was walking and it didn't take too long much longer That I canceled all of my pain pills because I didn't need them again. Go forward to me having yet another kidney stone passing. Extremely painful and I asked my DR. To please get me a prescription. I had to do some other shopping, and o knew my Dr. had sent in the prescription. This was the last thing that went well. I showed up to find out they were out of stock. But the twist is they told my Dr. There was interaction. They lied. So when I showed up I was in intense pain and I couldn't get my prescription. They did the "we can't change that..." which of course is what the Dr. Told me as well. Suffice to say this is the worst pharmacy visit I have ever had. I will never patronize CVS again. read more

I have been a CVS customer for over 20 years maybe 30. I cannot believe the customer service at Nipomo. It's unbearably appalling. I'm from Fresno where there's real crime and I got yelled at for throwing something away in the trash cans and now they have taken the trashcan that was outside and moved all the trash cans inside. Let's start by giving the employees in the pharmacy a class on customer service etiquette. First I pull up behind a truck that's at the window. Windows totally open then truck drives away and i pull up and window is now closed. I know they saw me waiting for 15 min!! Then I go inside annoyed as heck and the cashier looks at me and says " we're closed till one". Go anywhere else, literally any other pharmacy. Let me clarify it's not necessarily the pharmacy staffs fault, there's a very high turn over. I've been using this pharmacy for years and I've never interacted with the same person twice. They are clearly overworked and understaffed. I've had various issues in that time however, I have a prescription that's enrolled in ready fill and about 3-4 months ago it expired or something to that effect. I never received a call or notification about this however, so when I went to pick it up they told me I needed to call my doctor and get a prescription sent over. I've been on this medication for years, I pick it up every month. Never had this problem till then, of course it was on a weekend too so I couldn't call my doctor till the following Monday. I call, get the prescription sent over that Monday morning and it still took CVS another day and half to fill it. I was without a medication I'm supposed to take daily for 4 days. Recently I had an issue again with the same medication, I was told I can't pick it up till a later date because it's a 1 month supply so they can only fill it every 30 days. I take one pill a day, I've run out of the medication while supposedly being within the 30 day supply. Again, this seems to be an issue with CVS as a corporation as I know other locations nationwide are having issues. But when it comes to literal medication this many consistent issues is a disaster waiting to happen. read more

I appreciate the pharmacy itself, but the store feels crowded and understaffed. It ticks me off that the foods in the food aisle are unreasonably expensive and WAY too many of the foods are junk food at that. The parking and entrance areas are apparently never cleaned. It's a real mess! They need to get someone out there with a broom and take care of the garbage. I see the 2021 review by Nora R., who gave the store 4 stars. It's the cleanest CVS I've been to, and the only one from all the ones I've been to that I'll go in to and feel comfortable. Staff is very friendly, they usually greet you as you walk in, and they do not make you feel like you're wasting their time if you ask questions. I think they are very understaffed, and all have to multitask on various duties. It's not the employee's faults. I remember during the first years of it opening, they had double the amount of workers during every shift than they do now. They seemed a lot happier, everything was always stocked, frequent cleaning, 1-2 people dedicated to the photo services, etc. The pharmacy is it's greatest flaw. Some staff is super friendly, some is not, and others are not properly trained. I have been using this pharmacy for over 5 years because there really isn't much to choose from here. Several times I have received text notification that my prescription is ready, I go, and it's not ready. Sometimes I've had to wait 1-2 weeks after I asked for a refill. There are few drug stores in little Nipomo, and this CVS knows it. They know they have no competition, so they don't GAF about ANYTHING! The parking lot and front of the store are just ghetto. Trash and weeds everywhere, broken glass in the parking spaces, and no one EVER cleans it. There is one employee in particular who is absolutely awful, and I think he's the manager. He's rude and unhelpful, and he talks to the customers like they are annoying him if they dare to ask a question. I *think* his name is Steve. The shelves are mostly empty, and nothing is in the right place, so you don't know the price of anything until you checkout. incredibly unreliable. my 3 month old son takes life saving medication. he was running out i called 3 times and was promised it would be there Monday. that i would get a text and i'd be able to pick it up immediately. Monday comes and about an hour before they close i called asking is his medication their i was told no and when i brought up what i was told before i was told "it didn't come on the truck". like if that was an excuse? i asked when they would have it and i was told they don't know. my son had already missed that days dose at this point. i called Costco and they had his medication in Wednesday morning. read more

My reviews usually address some sort of disability issue, and this post will be no different. I'd like to share that this CVS Pharmacy is especially poor at providing customer service. I stopped today to drop-off an Rx - a medication prescribed to me by my Primary Care Physician to address symptoms of the chronic disease I live with. The Pharmacy Manager refused to fill my Rx stating he was uncomfortable due to the nature of the Rx. It's a medication for fatigue. When did Pharmacists start making decisions about our healthcare and stop listening to the prescribing Physician? I spoke with my Physician and she called the pharmacy's behavior "ridiculous" and said that "no state or federal law forbids filling an Rx like this." I believe it's important for these pharmacists to remember that NOT everyone who comes through their doors is drug-seeking. The lack of empathy and understanding here today was shameful. My company would be more than happy to provide healthcare focused sensitivity training, if CVS is interested. I'd say from all of the local CVS reviews, it's definitely needed!! ### read more

Whenever I have to pick up a prescription, I try really hard not to let it be from here. I messed up. I asked my dr to send the prescription to CVS Nipomo. I watched him fax it. Great. Called around 6 (which had been hours after the appt), and asked if they had been able to fill my prescription because OF COURSE I'm going out of town this weekend and need to have it. Woman on the phone was nice enough, but I asked her if my order was processed yet. She asked my information. Awesome. She paused for a bit and said "your office never faxed the prescription." Lies. I watched the doctor fax it. I didn't fight her because what she would have told me was to call the office to have them resend it or some BS. I understand that they're busy and prescriptions are instant, BUT don't lie to me. I also understand that they may have not been able to go through the paperwork, BUT again, no need to lie. I had a 10am appointment for a flu shot. I arrived at 9:55 and was directed to a line of people. I stood there for 15 minutes with absolutely no indication that anything was happening, (no pharmacist, nobody getting shots, no employee explaining why there was nothing happening. I might have well been lined up at a morgue). Anyway, after 15 minutes of standing there in a vacume, my legs were going numb as there was no place to sit and I have a a back injury, so I went home. Update: It seems as though corporate has finally stepped in and hired more staff. The staff did the best they could with limited help and a slew of customers. However, they almost always ran out of my prescription. I switched over to Costco.. This pharmacy used to be top notch. It is absolutely terrible now. Wonderful lead pharmacists have left for better job opportunities, techs come and go, and the wait time is horrendous. As I write this, I have been on hold for 45 minutes just to check on a new RX that the doctor called in three days ago. This has been happening a lot lately. I called the front of the store to see what was going on. The cashier stated that there have been 10 people in line as well as a crowded drive thru all day long. Needless to say, they aren't answering their phonesObviously, CVS needs more employees and/or more competent employees. The one time I reached a tech on the phone to inquire about a daily medication that took almost a week to fill, I was told that they're very busy and have had staffing changes. Customers don't care. This pharmacy has become the WORST in the last few months. They used to be on time always, with good costumer service & I loved the convenience of a drive-through. Now it's all chaos. Medications are NOT ready when promised, the phones are not answered, there's long lines of frustrated costumers at all times, & the costumer service obviously became mediocre with so much complains and lack of professionalism. My antibiotics that I got for my pneumonia from the hospital were interrupted because the pharmacy took days to fill out the order. Wish there were more pharmacies in this town. This is the worst CVS and one of the worst pharmacies I've ever been to. Honestly, if I could, I would give it 1/2 a star. Their pharmacy is completely incompetent and messed up my prescription EVERY MONTH. They need to learn to read the prescriptions off the compute correctly. First Yelp review I have ever left. These people are complete idiots. Whenever I have my prescription called in I need to then call CVS again afterwards for them to start processing it. Every single time they tell me that my insurance doesn't cover it and every single time I am forced to call my insurance company on my own for them to tell me that they do cover my prescription and then they have to call CVS after to tell them the same thing. Every single prescription is exactly the same. Happens every refill. Also got hung up on today when I asked why they couldn't just call my insurance themselves since they are the ones causing the whole confusion every time. Avoid these stupid people who apparently don't update their information on patients at all costs. They could give two ****s about getting you your prescriptions to you when you need them. read more

Today filed a complaint with the corporate online CVS website. Story: my wife went to medical facility and given ( forwarded prescription to our Nipomo CVS ) Couple hours later she called CVs and they said had not received . A couple hours later I called CVS to try and see status of prescription. Went through trunk line and forwarded to Pharmacy and put on hold (of course with music and CVS ads) . Thirty minutes! Hung up Called again 1/2 hour later while on way home ( wife doesn't drive ) Went through trunk line again and forwarded to Pharmacy and put on hold, 30 minutes later same as above so decided to walk into our CVS with phone still on hold. NO ONE ANSWERING PHONES in Pharmacy! Employee stated they were short of staff . After i pressed him why phone line did not say no one would pick up phone or to leave message for call back. I'd give it -5 stars if possible! I called total of 4 times - never got a human - went straight to hold and hold. 3 times I held for 15 minutes then for 26 minutes before giving up in frustration. Went into store and was treated poorly by the first pharmacy employee. No eye contact. No "hello" I tried telling her about the phone calls and she didn't even acknowledge what I was saying. I had a appointment for an RT PCR test today (on Saturday). I showed up on time and was told that their tests didn't arrive on Friday so they couldn't do the test. I had been getting texts all morning about going to the appointment. I was finally notified 3 hours and 14 minutes after the scheduled time that the appointment was canceled. They knew on Friday that they didn't have tests, but didn't bother to notify me. If you are counting on CVS to get a test for travel, I would highly advise that you go somewhere else. I was not able to find an appointment anywhere else so CVS has really screwed me over. read more

Just leaving this review for anyone utilizing this as their travel safe option for Hawaii, since the best alternatives that guarantee results in 24 hours or less are in the Bay Area or LA. They advertise Covid tests back on average of 1-2 days. It took over 72 hours to get my test results back, which under normal circumstances is fine. Traveling to Hawaii though where tests need to be within 72 hours is not acceptable. Just an FYI to anyone considering utilizing this as their option to get tested for a flight to Hawaii. read more
