I'm extremely annoyed at my shopping experience at CVS tonight, because I had to request assistance on four items. A pie, shampoo, conditioner, and shaving cream. The pie? $5. The shampoo and conditioner? $5. The shaving cream? Not even a major brand, but the CVS store brand. $5. Why the hell am I standing around waiting for an associate to open up the case for these items? Do you understand the concept of a CONVENIENCE store? Highlight CONVENIENCE. I don't save as much anymore at your store, and now I have to spend 30 minutes on what should only take 10 minutes. I don't care if you are having trouble with security. I really don't. Maybe it's less expensive than hiring a guard. But you're treating *ME* like a potential criminal. 1. no real savings anymore 2. no convenience in a convenience store 3. made to feel uncomfortable My mom's CVS pharmacy needs were moved from CVS. It's really inconvenient and unprofessional that this location at 500 West 23rd Street has been closing their doors well before the time stated online. The interim manager, who is currently in charge, is also very rude and condescending to customers who have been coming here for years. This CVS location is keeping customers from entering the store as much as 20 minutes before closing. Although they are supposed to close at 12 midnight, at 11:50 pm tonight the doors were locked tight, Customers couldn't get in well before that. At one point at least 9 people were outside confused, including a very sweet lady who just needed to buy diapers for her baby. I wonder why this interim manager thinks it is appropriate to treat customers like this. I recommend you find another store to do your shopping. read more

Perfectly adequate urban CVS that was pretty much the same as any other urban CVS I've seen in Raleigh NC or Boston MA. Tightly packed narrow aisles with merchandise from floor to ceiling. It's almost claustrophobic. They had the coolers with snacks and drinks, lots of candy, lots of greeting cards plus personal care and cosmetics and a pharmacy. All you could possibly need. This location is quintessential NYC. Low ceilings, tight corners, narrow aisles, packed shelves. They have just about everything you need in a corner drug store/convenience store, aside from enough elbow room while moving around. I have never had a prescription filled there, but I have bought lots of diapers, baby wipes, ice cream (a lot of ice cream), etc., etc., you get the idea. It is the go to spot for things needed in a pinch (see above about packed shelves. The staff here is super friendly and quite often there is someone at the door greeting guests....by name. This place is a mess. They NEVER answer their phone. I went to the store to ask that my prescriptions be sent by mail. They said I had to do that over the phone. I have called five times in the past two weeks, all at different times of the day, and was forced to wait over 25 minutes each time. I gave up and hung up. I had such an incredible experience at this CVS on 500 West 23rd street. I needed to take a passport photo and this wonderful gentleman named Andre really helped me. Andre was so kind, helpful and extremely patient while I was stressed out trying to get a decent photo of myself. Andre hung in there with me with humor and patience until I got the shot that I could live with. I really appreciated his kindness and his co-worker Shelema for making me laugh and helping me out. First walking in, everything is nicely lit and openly spaced. You're faced with the food section -- something that really resembles the mini-mart I had back in my college dining hall -- stocked with snacks, microwavable foods, and sugary beverages. Then, there is a refrigerated section with the frozen foods (individual pizzas, hot pockets, lean cuisines, ice cream, etc.) and cold drinks (milk, juices, Arnold Palmer...). The candy section flanks the fridges. For a minute, I thought I had stepped into a 7-Eleven and not a CVS! Wandering further in, taking my first tour, I find the usual aisles I'd see in any other pharmacy - beauty/make-up, hair care, hygiene maintenance, vitamins, first aid, etc. Everything is neatly organized on the shelves. Perhaps this is the case since it just opened... let's see how long it stays this way. I noticed the round aisle markers hanging over particular sections of the shelves, which really helps when searching for something on the fly and not having to walk through the entire length. The plus about this CVS is the photo section, with what I believe are self-serve kiosks. I didn't take a closer look but will definitely come back to develop those long-forgotten vacation photos for my much-delayed album project. This CVS Pharmacy very recently popped up, which is quite odd, considering there is another CVS two avenues down, and there are about 5 other pharmacies in a 3-block radius. But hey, I won't complain since it is now the closest pharmacy to my home. I will surely start to shop here more, and I'm pretty sure it will build up a large customer base, seeing that it is right underneath the High Line and surrounded by new residential high-rises. read more

I am a veterinarian. I attempted to call in a prescription for a feline patient for some eye drops. I faxed over the prescription first and then called to make sure they did not need any additional info from me. The pharmacist was rude! He refused to fill the medication unless the O came in or called them and set up an account. He told me he did not have enough information. When in fact he had the O's name, Pet's name, address, phone, email, breed, DOB, etc. He just didn't read the RX. When I told him that and asked him what more do you need? He said he needed to know how she intended to pay for the eye drops. I have never run into this problem. I have been a practicing veterinarian for 28 years and never had an issue like this. I believe they just did not want to fill the RX or they wanted to make it difficult for the O. My advice, avoid this CVS no matter what. I am now worried they will make a mistake filling the medication. AVOID THEM. read more

Supervisor on Saturday afternoon was even worse - rude and has no clue what they are doing - created me a new CVS account and then told me I can't use my coupon - all because they created me a new acct by mistake!! Do not go to this CVS for money grams. They do not enter the information correctly and will let you leave the store with blank money orders that will return to you because no one accepts money orders with no dollar amount. The manager refuses to be apologetic and will have nothing to do with you. She also will not take the blame for staff because "I didn't do the transaction myself". Really great training CVS. CVS is CVS but what makes this location stand apart from the rest is the people and timeliness of check out. There are 3 automatic checkout machines which makes for a quick check out. When there is a line, the cashiers will hop behind the register to make the line disappear quicker. The CVS employees were kind and upbeat, even thought it was after 9 and they probably wanted to go home. read more

This is by far the best CVS store I've ever been to, it's very organized, clean, and the staff is nice and helpful. The first time I was there I've asked a staff member about a product that was missing and was assisted right away. The staff member (which I found out later on is the manager) took time to check their storage and found what I was looking for. Thank goodness for this CVS. I used to go to the Rite Aid on 22nd and 9th but it was not great. Nice workers but not clean. This CVS is really convenient and it has a big selection.
