My son purchased a gift card for me for Home Depot as a Christmas gift. When I finally went to use the card and scratched of the code, it was determined to be already used. It was impossible for me to have used it as the code was still concealed. CVS researched the claim and refunded 100% of the value of the card. CVS took the loss and not me the customer. Pier Avenue CVS has the nicest employees and pharmacy department! I've been going there at least 8 years, and when I've gone to other CVS nearby I'd a stark difference. They text me when they have my prescriptions ready, or they deliver. They are always happy to see me, and smile. In the store section they have a beautiful, very kind and professional woman to offer me help finding anything! And she always shows me all the sales and coupons I should load up on the CVS APP. The managers are also totally patient with me while I go through finding the store coupons, and have most always tried to save me as much money as possible! I love this CVS. I HIGHLY advise against purchasing gift cards from this location. We bought a Microsoft gift card with intact packaging, but when our family member opened it, the code had already been scratched and redeemed. This left us scammed and out of money. I am absolutely speechless right now after coming here. I'm a Hermosa local and probably come to this CVS 4-5 times a week- I'm a regular. Today, I was in there trying to buy a couple of t shirts, a Red Bull, & a Diet Coke. I was using a reusable shopping bag I got at Vons, and as I walked around the store getting my items I put them in my shopping bag, as I do every time I come in. While walking to the register, I saw some flowers by the door & decided to get them for my girlfriend. As I walk towards them, a large, bald, African American man I've never seen before with no name tag, CVS shirt, or anything else that indicated he worked there( (as every other employee has ) came barreling towards me screaming that I was stealing the items I was shopping for. Before I had a chance to even react, he reached his hand into my shopping bag and violently ripped out everything inside, continually screaming that I was shoplifting. I also had a bag of tide pods I had purchased elsewhere that he took out too and screamed how he was "also taking these as punishment." Keep in mind, I had not exited the store, nor did I have any plans to 'steal' anything, nor did I do anything different than what I do every time I go there with my reusable shopping bag to shop. With everyone in the store looking at me as he yelled, obviously thinking I had done what he was yelling about, I walked out of the store confused and humiliated. I got outside, tried to process what happened, and a few minutes later went back in and spoke to a woman who I see regularly when I go there to explain what happened and that he accused me of stealing when I was not, and how he had taken items of mine that I purchased elsewhere as a "punishment." She said she's so sorry and she would help resolve it, and came back with the same man. He is apparently the manager. I told him I was trying to get flowers at the front and that I wasn't doing that, and that he had taken items that he had no right to, and he laughed in my face, continued yelling that I was stealing, went and grabbed my tide pods he had taken, and without notice threw them at me extremely hard and hit me in the stomach with them. While I don't wish to disclose what it is exactly, I have a medical condition that makes my stomach area extremely sensitive, and it hit me so hard that I now have bruising and am in a lot of pain. This was literally the most disgusting, inappropriate, ridiculous behavior I could ever imagine. The lady who worked there that I had asked for help was repeatedly saying how sorry she was, but would do nothing to help or address what was happening and was clearly scared of this man, her boss. I tried calling CVS after to get his name and as soon as I said what I was calling about they hung up and rejected all my calls when I tried again after. I will make sure someone holds this maniac accountable. Lost for words. UPDATE: the manager who assaulted me and threw merchandise at me completely unwarranted is named "Tunde A." Absolutely disgraceful behavior, and a complete joke of a manager. Every time I come in now he gives me dirty looks and won't help me with anything even though he's the one who assaulted me and threw merchandise at me like a child. Grow up, buddy! read more

Awful. This is a pharmacy where I get (or used to get) my medical suppies. They post that no pets are allowed in the store, but they do nothing to discourage entitled individuals that put their animals ahead of legitimate handicapped individuals. Check out the carpet in this CVS. It is strafed with animal urine spots EVERYWHERE. It is unfair for businesses to expect minimum wage employees to clean up after pets. It's hard to differentiate one CVS from another. The storefronts are all nearly identical. My review pertains to the pharmacy at this CVS. The managing pharmacist at this CVS, Ju, is wonderful. In addition to being extremely knowledgeabl, Jun treats me like a friend. And from what I have seen over the last few years, Jun treats everyone else the same way. Totally fine with that. Came back in 45 min. Nothing had been filled. No sorry, no let me fill that right away. Just an employee full of attitude and a 'well I just got here sooooooo'. Got quoted another 15 min. Left and came back and waited in line for 10 min and got everything I initially came for...three trips and about 90 min later. TL;DR. Rude. Pharmacy robots malfunctioning. I fill my mom's Rx here so I'm here at least once a month. Jun the Pharmacist is so friendly and helpful and he is always smiling!! Service at the Pharmacy counter definitely gets five stars. My overall rating is four stars because their regular line is often times long and they usually have only one cashier so going in to grab something "really quick" takes longer than expected. Plenty of parking and if you sign up for their rewards card, it's always a nice surprise when you get coupons with your receipt! read more

I get that it's COVID, and perhaps pharmacy workers qualify as front line to some extent, as much as grocery store personnel or the food delivery folks, but that does not give them the right to cavalier and rude... I had the extreme displeasure of dealing with a young female pharmacist who was arrogant and dismissive and ultimately got it wrong, not once, but twice. Thank God I was paying attention... It took over an hour, not a lot of traffic, to get two prescriptions filled, correctly and I didn't even get an apology or a thank you. By the time I left I was fuming. Next time I'll drive all the way to Skinners in Rolling Hill Est. before I'll attempt to navigate the circus at CVS. They have no idea of what the term "customer service" means. read more

Only reason I come here is because my insurance prohibits me to use anyone else. Every time I have prescription, it's sent to this place. Every time , I get a call from CVS telling me my prescription is ready, and every time i show up they have me wait 15-20 minutes. Now I know that's not that bad, but half the time, they get the order wrong , and there goes another half hour ! I've used Walgreens before with my past insurance, and it was always a breeze! I literally cannot believe I'm writing a review for a CVS lol, but this one is seriously worth it. I go to a doctor's office in the same block as this CVS and figured it would be a convenient place to pick up a prescription following my appointment. I was completely stunned by how nice this CVS is!!! When I walked in, TWO people greeted me, TWO! And everyone's attitudes were so pleasant and refreshing. The store was immaculate and after I dropped off my prescription, I was browsing around and an employee stopped me and asked me if I needed help finding anything. That's THREE unsolicited offers to help me in the span of probably 15 minutes which is 3 more than I think I've gotten at any other CVS lol. Their pharmacy is also great. I felt they acknowledged me quickly (sometimes I have to wait by the "drop off" window forever waiting for someone to even look my way) and filled my prescription in maybe 10 minutes. I think the pharmacist is named Jun. Jun was pleasant and helpful in the brief consultation he gave me on how to take my medicine. I never felt rushed and everyone had great attitudes. On my way out, the same person who initially greeted me thanked me for my patronage. It's odd that a CVS could actually put me in a better mood than when I arrived lol. I've been to this CVS a second time and had almost the exact same experience with greeters and all. Huge thumbs up to the employees at this location! read more

This is my pharmacy of choice (mainly because it is down the street from my house) but also because of the great customer service I receive from their Pharmacy. It is also kept very clean, well-stocked and use of the digital photo center is pretty easy to use. Upon entry to this drugstore, you are always acknowledged and greeted. I haven't done much shopping here other than picking up my prescriptions and having a few photos printed but I have not encountered a disgruntled or unpleasant staff member yet. Their pharmacy team is great! Especially Jun. He's always so cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable. He always tries to fill your prescriptions as quickly as he (and his team) can if you are waiting. He will always offer to go over your medications with you. They are very diligent in their follow up calls and offering a generic brand for prescriptions to help you out with cost and insurance. If there is a problem or question, they offer to call your doctor for you rather than have you call. They offer automatic refills and will give you automatic reminder calls if requested. Overall great customer service from the Pharmacy. Parking: There is a good sized private lot shared with Vons, Pick-Up Stix, Hallmark, a Beauty Store and a UPS annex. read more

I do not know how I have never been to CVS before. I am sure I have been but I probably never checked in before. Well I was at the Gym this morning (05-07-2013) which is basically a stone's throw away from this CVS when I remember I was almost out of lotion. Spending as much time as I do in the Ocean, at the Beach and being blasted from the sun, I need as much lotion as humanly possible. I actually buzz through an entire bottle of lotion in just about 2 weeks. My food standards are pretty high and so is the lotion in which I choose to use. I have fallen in love with the CVS brand lotion (Aloe cool & fresh) for some reason cool. After I left the gym, I drove into the adjacent parking lot where this CVS is located. This CVS shares its parking lot with a Vons, Wells Fargo, The Counter (burgers) and several other business, parking is never an issue, and this parking lot is huge. I kind of dig shopping in this little shopping center because the parking lot itself is elevated and also sits on top a hill, at the bottom of the hill is the Ocean, so you can actually see the Ocean from anywhere in this parking lot. I walked into this CVS and quite shocked at small it seemed. It is either small or just very open which gives off the vibe that it is small. I walked directly to the lotion aisle only to discover it looks like CVS has discontinued my favorite product and the only reason I shop at CVS. I made sure and searched every lotion bottle in the aisle and nope they did not have what I was looking for. They did have a bottle of lotion that looked similar but it simply wasn't it. I did notice the price before I walked out the door, the price was $4.99. The reason I mention the price is because I will be writing another review for another CVS right down the street and ended up buying the same lotion for a dollar cheaper a bottle/container. I thought all CVS location priced things the same but I guess not. As for the overall cleanliness of this CVS it looked clean, smelled clean, they had a Pharmacy attached and this place looked empty during my visit which was basically right around 9:00am-9:15am. Now that I know this CVS prices their prices a little different than others or so it seems. I will be conducting my business elsewhere. I am giving this location 2-Stars because you can see the Ocean other than that it would be getting 1-Star. read more

I visit this CVS when necessary after my work out across the street. Selection is better than at the one on Rosecrans in MB but not as good as the larger MB location on Sepulveda. I don't like driving extra places so I come here because I can walk over from the gym. It's always clean and decently-stocked. The employees are nice. If I ask them where to find a particular item, they are good about showing me. Some will also ask if I need help finding something. That's always a good sign. I tend to come here in the early afternoon or just before closing time so the lines are never long. I am not sure if it gets busy during peak hours. Given its location in a busy shopping center, I would guess it does. Signing up for their rewards program results in frequent discounts via email. I always try to wait until I have one of those 20 or 25% off coupons before I come in. read more

I love Jun and the regular team at this pharmacy but when they are not in the place goes to sh*t - tonight I tried calling to check on a prescription and have now been holding to music for over 20 minutes, I called from 3 of my phone lines to make sure I didn't just get a random line that wasn't being monitored and no one picked up any on my lines - until I called the CVS general store manager and told him that this was happening. When I finally reached the pharmacy after 22 mins on "hold" and expressed my disbelief that this was the awesome pharmacy I have been going to for over 20 years they informed me "this was the new norm" umm.. This is by far the worst cvs on the planet. Constantly have prescriptions wrong and not ready. I don't know how it stays in business really.

It's what you expect. Skin care, cosmetics, toiletries, snacks, vitamins, health care, pharmacy, and tchotchkes. A great place to browse and pick up essentials. They have a nice selection of as seen on tv products, which always amuse me. There is ample parking and the staff is always helpful. If you are at the pharmacy, to the left of the counter they usually have free product samples like sunscreen. read more

CVS has expanded in to the now-vacant Blockbuster next door to probably more than double in size. It's mainly food, beverage, cosmetics, and chachki stuff that I see got more selection. The Pharmacy in the back is larger but I haven't seen that it is more efficient, probably worse than before. I am chalking it up to that it all just moved and that it will smooth out. read more

On one hand, the service I've received in the pharmacy is very good. When I call in refills they always have my stuff ready when I go pick it up. On the other hand, the rest of the store is not very nice. They routinely run out of some skin care products that I like, and their prices are much higher than at Target. Also, I've had to wait too long in line. There are also some undesirable people who hang around there. read more

Well don't get too excited about taking my prescription order! I can understand why some people felt that they weren't very helpful. The employees, including the pharmacist there, aren't very happy people at work. I called in a prescription for a patient and the person who I got was just very monotone the whole time. She also had a slight rudeness about her... but I somewhat don't blame her. It's probably not the best or most fun job in the world. I agree... what DID happen to, "Hi! I'll be right with you" even if you do end up waiting longer than expected? A little goes a long way. All a patient wants to know is that they have been acknowledged. And then get checked up on again to let them know you haven't forgotten. Basic customer service... where's the training? I'd say... don't expect much. read more
