I have been to many many CVS stores throughout LA & OC, but wowaaa this was the longest pharmacy pick up line I've ever experienced. Granted is was around 5PM so it was a busy time but still. Staff were nice and I know they have so much to do but that line... I have no words. I was there for 45 mins. When you're not feeling well that can feel a lot longer. On July 17 at approximately 8:43 a.m., I visited this CVS, which I have been shopping at for years. One reason I often stop here is that there are very few public restrooms in the area. In the past, the employees have always been kind and have allowed me to use the restroom. This time, however, (a heavy-set woman with shoulder-length gray hair around 40-50 years scheduled this day and time) told me the restroom was "only for clients." I had just made a purchase, so I explained that I was, in fact, a customer. She then changed her explanation and said the restroom was "only for pharmacy customers," even though the pharmacy did not open until 9:00 a.m. I am a 74-year-old woman and have been a loyal CVS customer for decades. Just a few days before this visit, I spent over $50 on vitamins and other items at this same store. I felt disrespected by the way I was treated, especially after making a purchase right in front of the employee. Being given inconsistent explanations was frustrating and unnecessary. I had planned to continue shopping that morning, but because I urgently needed to use a restroom, I had to leave the store and walk a considerable distance to find one elsewhere. At my age, this was especially difficult. I have never been treated this way by any of the other employees at this location, who have always been courteous and helpful. If this CVS were not so close to my home, I would seriously consider shopping elsewhere. Debatable, but it feels like it when I see the "you saved" totals. Experience: * CVS feels like a scavenger hunt - sometimes great deals, sometime not * I never leave empty-handed, even when I plan to * Parking and entry can be tricky if you're not familiar with the area * Inside is typical CVS - not very clean or organized, a bit cramped * There's usually a checkout line; I stick to self-checkout and get out in about 10 minutes * Pharmacy seems to always have complaints and staff never seem happy. That's unfortunate. * I usually grab basics and keep it quick: snacks, drinks, household items, vitamins, self-care essentials Pros: * Coupons and rewards program * Decent prices on vitamins and essentials - love how you can also use coupons for extra savings * Self-checkout is usually quick unless it gives you a hard time. Extremely disappointing experience at this CVS pharmacy. I was in line before 1:30 PM, along with several other customers, when the pharmacy staff abruptly announced they were closing for lunch and would no longer take anyone else--without any prior warning or communication. There was no cutoff mentioned ahead of time--just a cold "it's 1:30, we're closed." After all of us customers in line voiced our complaints, they made exceptions for two people but ignored the rest of us who had also been waiting in line before the cutoff. When I asked to speak to the branch manager, the pharmacy staff claimed they didn't even know who that was. Eventually, they pointed me to the manager on duty, who did nothing helpful except say she would "speak to the pharmacy staff and manager." Do not go here: I informed CVS almost a month ago that I was switching pharmacies. Also, my new pharmacy contacted them in order to obtain my prescription orders. However, CVS continues to fill my prescriptions, but they don't inform me when a prescription is ready. Today I learned that my new pharmacy is currently unable to fill a prescription that I am now out of, because CVS filled the prescription but not inform me that it's ready. And my insurance company will not pay for two prescriptions. Also, without notice or consent, one of my prescriptions was suddenly being filled by a different CVS location. Decided to get a second COVID booster, and checked for appointments on the Internet. CVS at 691 Third Avenue came up, and I made an appointment for 10 AM. I have never been in this store, and found its placement on the lot to be quite interesting. It does not face Third Avenue, instead is perpendicular to it. It would difficult to find this store, but for the signage. Walking up to the pharmacy counter, I was greeted promptly at 10 AM by Aimee Trammell, the registered pharmacist who would administer the injection. She administered it professionally and painlessly. There is a required 15 or 20 minute waiting period, so I cooled my heels in the same chair where the injection was administered. I would have just left early, but Aimee had possession of my vax card, and gave it back to me at the completion of the waiting period. No side effects, just a slightly tender left deltoid. It was a very efficient way to get a booster shot. I may come back here in December when the new protein-based vaccines are released. read more

Val could really work on his customer service skills, specifically if he's working in the pharmacy. I arrived at this location to pick up my Mom's prescription. I wasn't sure how many were ready, while he had one on the counter. He seemed to be looking for more. After 5 minutes I asked if he was looking for more or what was going on. He said "I can't find (medication name), did you want it?" You'd think that's probably such an unnecessary, disrespectful, and stupid question to ask someone if that medication was prescribed to them. My response was "if it was prescribed to her, I'm sure she needs it." He continued to respond with sass and says "im just asking." He looked for a medication in the same spot he had originally looked, just didn't look close enough the first time around. It took him over 10-15 minutes to finally ask for help, even after his coworkers were able to get rid of the long line and were already working on stocking new medication on the shelves. It also wouldn't hurt to smile, everyone there besides the actual pharmacist looked so unhappy. read more

I'm giving 1 star for the actual CVS staff. They're very nice and engaging. The pharmacy staff has the most awful customer service ever! I come to pick up my prescription and the girl (who worked the "pick up" counter today at 10:30am) had a terrible attitude. Wow. Like, cutting me off. So short. Not answering my questions thoroughly. So much so, I need to call the pharmacist over to ask. This is gross. I will also be complaining to their management. Also, will never have my prescriptions sent to this location again. I've been using CVS on 3rd as my pharmacy for several years now. They're generally busy and disorganized, but it's the most convenient from my house. Today I went to fill my prescription and I was quoted 10 min, so I decided to wait. 40 min later I still had not been called! I asked what was going on and they told me "there was an issue so we placed a call to your doctor and have been waiting to hear back." I didn't think they could get any worse, and they proved me wrong. I have requested no auto refills and just found two prescriptions they auto filled, including one for around $240.00. I tried to call them only to find they are no longer answering the phones. You have to leave a message and pray they call you back. I tried to use their app for delivery, but the prescriptions are set up for pickup only. I'm disabled and going to the actual store is difficult for me. I don't understand why they make it so difficult for their customers. I can't change pharmacies because my insurance is tied to this chain. I've called CVS Corporate before and got absolutely no assistance. read more

Haven't shopped here during COVID until today. They have 2 self-scan checkouts which is super convenient, the only downfall is it does not take cash or give cash back. It does not appear to be utilized much at this location... they've had it for a while now and it is always empty with a line for the cashier. I love the concept personally. Don't have an issue with coupons on the CVS app, as it asks if I want to use my ECB and automatically takes off my app coupons. The staff was stocking during the time of my visit, which was nice... they were out of a few items that I had to adjust but overall still a very clean, friendly store to shop at. Just becareful if you are coming in the front off of 3rd Avenue, the entrance dip has gotten worse and it will get you if you are not expecting it. read more

Pharmacy hours and store hours are different. Pharmacy is open 8-8 M-F and closed from 12:30-1 for lunch. Saturday 9-6 closed 12:30-1 for lunch. And Sunday10-6 closed 12:30-1 for lunch. I went in yesterday with my daughter to print some pictures. We were having some trouble with scanner and I couldn't find someone available to help. It was very busy and finally cashier said she'd call someone to help me. My God was it worth the wait! Alex came, so calmly and helped me when I was seriously about to give up. Every early morning, longstanding patronizing customer to CVS's 691 Third Avenue location should expect to be welcomed with EQUANIMITY - which we were not afforded this beautiful morning. Perhaps, Cesar, this morning's manager, actively practices ageism or he simply profiled my friend and I based upon what we look like. Either way, this particular quasi-manager has been unwelcoming and unfriendly since the day he arrived at this location. Cesar would immensely benefit from taking a workshop in customer service etiqutte due to his grievous lack of tactful customer service attributes and skills. Furthermore, what transpired during check-out will illustrate Cesar's blatant lack of respect toward two longstanding paying senior citizen customers. I noticed .19 cents of loose change in front of me on the counter and decided to use .03 cents toward my payment. Cesar said nothing. My friend who was busily engaged in reading her novel, obliged me as she handed .03 cents and then scooped up the remaining .16 cents to which Cesar immediately responded that that change was to be left there for other needy customers, SUCH AS OURSELVES, to use. This appalling retort was maliciously meant by Cesar to humiliate and is not to be tolerated by any CVS employee. After all, it is common knowledge that CVS is not in the practice of displaying "loose change" trays. Incidentally, my friend and I have left loose change many times at this CVS location which has been promptly placed in the register. Consequently, for this purpose, I advised Cesar he might want to invest in a "loose change" tray which he could keep within easy reach of any paying customer as Cesar had so adamantly made clear to us. Truth be told, Cesar did not realize change had been left there until our transaction took place. CVS does not need to alienate customers due to a seemingly disgruntled employee such as Cesar. Hello. As I previously mentioned, this CVS establishment once again has failed to represent it's owners and affiliates well. During my visit today, it suddenly became apparent to me that perhaps the primary problem at this location is a manifest lack of employee leadership and accountability which deleteriously impacts and erodes employee morale. Seemingly, what some of your employees only care about and want is a paycheck. Our clerk today, who happens to be an older woman, whom I have always had good rapport with, failed miserably in courteously informing and reminding loyal customers, many of whom are senior citizens, about CVS's distribution of certified government masks. Have your employees been provided relevant training? Apparently not. How can these specific employees I have referred to knowingly neglect to distribute these government issued masks when they're conspicuously stacked behind the check-out clerks in large boxes? Our community has a right to be kept informed and safe especially since CVS has voluntarily chosen to participate in this vital program due to being located in a highly impacted area by the still uncurtailed pandemic. Therefore, the message conveyed by today's check-out clerk was, ultimately, that if people don't ask for the masks then that means that because you are uninformed, you do not receive one. Where is the logic? I cannot subscribe to the belief that government regulations actually stipulate that masks are not to be distributed to those customers who do not request them and thereby, unfortunately, cannot receive the masks that they are rightfully entitled to due to their own ignorance. This is preponderously inconceivable to me. Again, I was appalled with CVS's customer service at the 691 Third Avenue location and would suggest that these nameless individuals who have been the impetus of my grievances be held accountable and, if necessary, replaced with competent individuals. In closing, CVS employees ought to ensure that everybody entering the store needs to walk out with their set of masks. Come on! CVS should provide a service not a disservice to patrons many of whom are elderly. Seriously, if it had not been for the fact that I witnessed every customer in line ahead of me walk out uninformed about CVS's participation in the government's distribution of masks program and sans masks I would not be having this conversation. Leonardo is the worst at customer service. Even with a full team behind him, he still can't ask for help. This pharmacy was full today with customers as well as staff. No one is communicating. Everyone is running in one direction or another. Leonardo didn't want to take the time to listen to my questions. he just told me to go to drop off. I was trying to explain to him they called my husband from this store and it's ready. He told the trainee, " I guess she doesn't want help." And tried to walk away. I raised my voice, and i got everyone's attention. Once a pharmacist took me to the side and informed me there was nothing they could do, I demanded they check again. You guys from this store called us saying it's ready and time after time I come in same day and no medication. I hear the same thing from them every week. Just don't call or text us saying it's ready if it's not. I have to find parking in a parking lot that is being taken over from the medical building across the street. Then come in and wait in a 30-minute line to be told you guys were wrong. Well, guess what? I got my husbands medication. It was in the back of the fridge. The one they called about. The one they said they didn't have anymore. The one the kid said I didn't want help with. But since I was yelling at this point, I guess the pharmacist decided to let me have the medication to get me out of there. This place is shady keeping medication to the side. Maybe they favor certain customers and let them have it before others since there is a shortage. But that's my opinion, and that's how they made it seem like. read more

Ever since the CVS in the Chula Vista mall closed and the merge happened to this location it has been terrible. They employee unknowledgeable staff that doesn't know what they are doing. On top of that it is always busy, no matter what time of the day you go, it's always a long wait. They are unorganized, and rude. Both my parents are up there in age therefore take a lot of medicines for different health issues. My parents are both Spanish speaking only, therefore I am always the one making phone calls and checking on their prescription status. Pharmacists are always rushing and the pharmacy tech / people at the counter are always rude. It's not just one of the front counter person, it's all of them. If you happen to address their un professionalism they will deliberately give you attitude right back - whether over the phone or in person. I hate this CVS. It's always dirty and messy. I miss the Chula Vista mall location. P.S. make sure you check they give you the correct prescription, or all of it. On multiple occasions I have been given different patients medication as well as not all of the medicine "ready for pickup". read more

My absolute favorite CVS!! All the morning staff and manager are super friendly and helpful.. this is my go to CVS because they are very patient with me when I'm couponing. There's huge lack of respect and professionalism at this Pharmacy. Basically my medicine started to run out so my doctor send a new prescription so that I could get my medicines. I called to pick up my prescription medicines but a person at the Pharmacy, I don't know if it was the Pharmacist started questioning as of why my medicine had run out. I don't think I should be explaining my symptoms to the people that work at CVS , I already explained that to my doctor and that's why he gave me a new prescription. CVS you aren't doctors and you don't know the medical conditions of your costumers.
