Well, I WANTED to make this a good review but felt they skipped an opportunity to make my experience better, but opted not to and instead pushed their systemic issues into my lap. When my CVS was out of a prescription medicine they transferred the RX to this McKinleyville CVS after confirming they had the drug in stock and when I called to confirm they'd received it, they couldn't see it in their system. After an extremely long call with them which included spelling the patient's first and last names at least a dozen times, I was told I should call my CVS again. I did - they instructed me to tell McK CVS to check their queue, and I called McK back and they saw it. I get they're busy and understaffed but feel certain it would have been a more efficient use of their time to call the other CVS themselves and figure out the issue instead of having the customer so involved in their issue(s). Lastly, once they resolved the issue and had the prescription to fill, I was advised it would be ready "after lunch." I went at 4:45 pm and it was not ready, but as it was urgently needed I waited the additional 15 minutes while they expedited the preparation of the RX. I'm giving 3 stars because the people with whom I interacted at pickup were very pleasant and really tried to help me. read more

This CVS is the worst. Ever. They are always out of stock of everything. Literally everything. The entire cold/flu/allergy aisle is completely bare. Every single medicine is out of stock. There was one small package of CVS brand antihistamine but the package was open and tampered with. This place is a disgrace to the CVS brand and should be shut down. This place seems to be having a near death experience. Last time I went in shelves were empty all over the store and I could only partially complete my rather routine shopping list. Recently they have changed their always cumbersome phone system so that callers will never reach an actual person on the first call. Their inability to fill an ongoing prescription on time has been getting worse for months and the final straw was this month when I was informed that the generic medication was backordered and that I should check other pharmacies. So I did and have now transferred all business to Rite Aid in McKinleyville. I called and got a real pharmacist after a short wait who knew what he was talking about and quickly arranged the transfer of my prescription. I hear that CVS and other chains are closing stores. Please, CVS, close this one and put it out of its misery. Maybe then we can get a functioning store of some kind in that location. read more

My husband called in a prescription Wednesday. They said it would be an hour to fill it. He went in on Thursday afternoon to pick it up. It wasn't ready. They said it would take 20 minutes. He was annoyed but we went and grabbed a bite and came back. When we got back they filled the wrong prescription. When he asked where his other one was they said they put it back this morning. He just called it in the day before. They didn't care. They have no sense of urgency or customer care. They are horrible! read more

When there are folks that are in dire need of their prescription medication that could be life-saving and the website says that it's been filled, it's very nice of the location to ensure we are in the know that they are 'closed today due to unforeseen circumstances' with signs on the door. Their customer service and hours have steadily degraded to the point that they are now putting customers health at risk. The surly girl at the window told me that my prescription could not be filled until Saturday. They are closed Saturday. I asked her if the McKinleyville CVS was open on Saturday. She said no. They are open Saturday. She asked me if I could just skip a couple of days. This is a NECESSARY medication. When I said no her final advice was that I could pay out of pocket. Not sure why this isn't called a CVS yet like the other ones, even though the sign on the front has changed. This is a basic CVS, one of the nicest ones in this area actually, since they re-modeled and oddly put carpet in, but it's usually clean, the bums aren't too bad even though it's downtown Arcata, and they have some excellent deals at times. read more

Poorly run pharmacy. They message your Rx is ready, I go there, no Rx. They don't answer the phone. I went this morning to pick up meds, line of people waiting is all the way across the store. Worst customer service ever! The workers name is Jeremy and he claims he is the manager, however a manager does not act the way this man treated me. He was very rude and has the worst attitude problem. All I wanted were my photos and he grabbed them and walked away and I said do I need to go up there and he said well yeah that's were the registers are and I said can I please look at the photos before I purchase them. He got angry that I asked to look at them first and said next time just go straight to the register to pick up photos and I said sorry I didn't know that. He was so rude and said I had an attitude so he withheld my photos from me and told me I needed to leave the store?!?!? I was in pure shock at this persons disgusting behavior. this place sucks monkey balls. i should have gotten my prescription on monday. they told me they were behind so i'd need to come in on tuesday. since the line was so long on monday i decided to call before i headed over. apparently all the pharmacy staff called out sick and the guy tells me to come on wednesday. now i've been on hold for 20 minutes just so i can ask if my prescription is actually going to be ready. thankfully im just waiting for my anxiety medication but i also have a chronic disorder. if i was waiting for my really important meds this would be an entirely different situation. thankfully i get my important meds at safeway in eureka. i recently changed my other meds to this cvs for the first time and im starting to regret it. i understand that shit happens because i've worked in the service/retail industry before but oh my god this is unbelievable. i would highly recommend changing pharmacies which is something i will be doing. would rather waste gas to drive to eureka than not have my meds. edit: after being on hold for 30 minutes someone finally picked up... then immediately hung up on me. bruh read more

This particular CVS is clean, and has everything in stock when I need it. I have the whitest skin ever, and I have to use "translucent" makeup powder. There is also only one shade of one type of foundation that matches my white-ass skin tone. These items are always hard for me to find, but this CVS has them. Also Nate at the register is really sweet, and really cute. He has this adorable little mustache and I wish I could touch his butt. read more

Worst customer service on two occasions with Joseph. I swear this guy doesn't like me and just wants to make my experience hard. The first time I ever had to do a transaction with him, he looked at me like I was a piece of crap and put my card on the counter after he entered it. Mind you, I handed you the card, you could at least hand it back! This time around, I came into contact with him again. He made me aware of a "new law" that says I need to show ID in order to pick up my son's prescription. I asked him when did this law go into effect and why weren't the customers made aware of it. I mean they are so good about sending out emails and calling their clients. Why not this? He stumbled a lot and so I asked for a supervisor who was not there and so I left there with no REAL proof of such a law. Corporate also did not confirm that such a law exists. So bam, I was being targeted and put through the run around just for his pleasure. Long story short, I did show my ID, but at the moment there is no proof that such a law exists. I shop the store on occasion when there are extra care rewards, and whenever I do I get a good experience from the front cashiers. P.S. I've had another rep, (a woman, I don't remember her name) who in the past was very curt and impatient with me and acting all evasive. In that case, they had made an error on my son's name and meds and I called my daughter at home to ask her to read off his info for me so I can correct it and confirm it. This made her uncomfortable and she started acting agitated. For some reason, these people are so threatened by little ole me and can't seem to see me like they see their other customers that they treat so well. I'm not changing pharmacy's, there aren't many options here in this county. I get my prescriptions here and the register staff is always so nice. The dudes that work in cvs though, whether it's the pharmacy or register are just so unhappy with life. Actually, one male pharmacist is pretty nice but the rest are just so unnecessarily rude and unwelcoming. The ladies at this place are super awesome and kind. To the overweight woman working the counter 6/20/22: When someone asks you a simple question, like "Can I ask a quick question?" glaring at them is not a very professional answer. You could've said, "Sure" or "As soon as I'm done with this transaction." I could tell the transaction you were in the midst of was going to take a while, and the item I was looking for (safety razors) is often locked up behind the counter, or locked in a case on the shaving supplies aisle, so I didn't want to waste time searching for a product that I was going to end up needing a worker to retrieve for me anyway. Why are safety razors often locked behind the counter? Because they are an item that is frequently stolen from drug stores, and I honestly regret not just walking out with the last box you had on the shelf. So please wipe that face off your head, and be more professional next time. You are there to serve the customers, even the ones that might aggravate you. If you can't handle that, you are in the wrong line of work. read more

I'm just visiting Arcata for the weekend and forgot to pack a lot of things on my trip. Thankfully there's this very close CVS that had everything I needed. The location doesn't get very busy so it's nice to shop and take my time. The staff was very helpful, knowledgeable as to where products were, and either very nice or polite. Unfortunately I have only had poor service from this location's pharmacy. I have gone in multiple times in a week for a prescription that staff said would be ready by a certain time and wasn't. I also was turned away for shots because the pharmacy was too busy (the women I babysit for works for another cvs and told me that staff aren't aloud to do this...they were just being lazy). Also, every time I go in the person ahead of me seems to have the same issues with their prescriptions. Yesterday the man in front of me got very frustrated and caused a bit of a scene. I've moved around a lot in my life and have been to many pharmacies, but this one is by far the worst. The pharmacy staff have disappointed me many times with not getting prescriptions ready when they tell me they will be, there's a pharmacy tech that works there that seems absolutely miserable and uncaring, and they wait until last minute before contacting doctors for refills, which has left me without my medicine for multiple days. It's not like I take these medications because I want to; I need them, on time with sympathetic workers. There are a few female staff members that are nice, but I recommend the Rite Aid in Eureka. read more

Store AKA the good: The store is fine and I would give it 5 stars for a CVS. The inside condition is what you would expect of a CVS in an urban city. The service is great. The photo department helped me figure I forgot to hit submit on my home computer and took pity on me. They did a rush print job for me and called me right when it was done. There's a cashier who is super excited about life and treats every customer like an old friend. I wish I could remember her name, but you'll know when you meet her. Pharmacy AKA the bad: After going about 14 times, I have decided to take my business somewhere else. I have had at least 3 different cashiers and they had treated other customers and me very poorly. Specifically about me: I'm nice, polite, and I shower - but everytime I go I get treated like I'm a nuance for picking up my prescription. Once I stood there, for at least 5 minutes (no exaggeration). I yelled, "Hi" because I assumed they had not seen me yet. The Pharmacist yelled back, "We'll get to you in a moment!" Apparently he had seen and didn't see the point of acknowledging me and letting me know he had seen me. The cashier, took about 2 more minutes to finish up what she was doing and then came to check me out. I'm not expecting them to praise me for being a customer - but I'm done feeling like I'm bother. Good prices on fishing gear. They also carry a good selection of smoking chips. They have quadrupled their alcohol section in the past years to cater to the college crowd. I like CVS. Some of the Pharmacy clerks aren't co mannerly but meh it's just their job. I like CVS because it's convenient and always has a sale worth going in for - such as detergent shampoo and paper towels. No complaints. I'm absolutely disgusted with this CVS. I was told maybe 2 months ago that for some incident that they could not explain to me,I could not be in the store. No date, no item reference, no proof or anything. The manager, who I do t believe I ever met, claims that I "took something thst wasnt mine" at some point before this and told his employees I wasnt allowed back in. This is absolutely not true.In fact, I had about $300 worth of items in my basket just now. I was stopped at the counter and rudely told I was not allowed to be in the store. They again refused to tell me anything else about this. How absolutely embarrassing... my daughter was with me, and I wouldn't ever steal from this store or any other! I wouldn't go here if I were you...they have no idea what they're doing or who's actually stealing from them or 9how to deal with paying, loyal customers.
