Unfortunately, after a miscommunication about part of the project, which I thought we had resolved amicably (I compensated him for the materials he had already used), he later admitted he was upset and had been purposely avoiding my follow up communication. He left the original job on Friday saying he would return the following week to finish a few remaining items. After that, I spent over a month trying to get a response, with little to no communication and no explanation for this treatment. When I finally expressed my frustration, he admitted he had intentionally been ignoring me because of the earlier misunderstanding and offered to send someone to finish the outstanding tasks, "if that's what I was upset about." That level of unprofessionalism was far more disappointing than the few remaining tasks on the project. Misunderstandings happen, but they shouldn't result in giving a customer the silent treatment and leaving a job unfinished. I cannot recommend someone who responds to conflict by avoiding communication completely.

In fact, on the call he said I could text or email him and I asked specifically which mode he preferred - he said that text would get the fastest response. So I texted. No response. I'm grateful that I didn't spend long on this company but I still wish I could get my time and energy back spent schmoozing this guy who would end up ghosting me Edit: I got a notification 35 minutes after posting this review that he commented and I couldn't be happier that I left one star. No, that's the GC's job. For a ~$100K project, that's extremely unprofessional and I would never hire a GC that starts by de-prioritizing my project and delegating work to me. I have interviewed a dozen GCs for multiple projects over the last year and never had anyone refuse a site visit. The pictures posted by this business give the impression that they do major remodels, but the reviews indicate that they seem to specialize in small handyman-type jobs and do well at those. Most of the Yelp reviews describe minor plumbing repairs like replacing faucets or toilets or small partial room projects.

A former coworker had recommended Roberto on Yelp, so I called him right away. We went through the whole planning process together, got aligned on the design and materials - and then life happened and we just weren't quite ready financially to pull the trigger. Roberto was completely gracious about it. No pressure, no attitude, just patience. When we were finally ready to go, he picked right back up where we left off and his team came in and got it done. That kind of professionalism set the tone for the whole project. When his crew got into the build and found issues - and on a 40-year-old deck, they found a few - Roberto would come find me, show me what they'd discovered, explain what needed to happen, and just handle it. No surprises on the bill, no drama. Straight communication and solid work from start to finish. The finished deck is beautiful. These guys take pride in their work and it shows in every detail. If you're on the fence, just call him. You won't regret it.

Turns out that was a great indication of the communication and care the team put into the project. Could not be happier with the project!

After consulting with a few different teams to deal with some serious leaking at our front stairs and rear door, we decided to go with David and the SF Remodel team. Their proposal was the most reasonable, and we especially appreciated that they specialize in water intrusion and mold remediation, which were our two biggest headaches. David, Saul, Jordan, and the entire crew were fantastic. They didn't just patch the problem; they fixed the root cause. They pulled out the old stairs, rebuilt them with proper flashing and drainage, and sealed everything with an elastomeric membrane. They also replaced all the damaged drywall underneath and added a moisture barrier, cement, and extra drainage as a failsafe. The real test came right after they finished: we had a massive rainstorm, and I'm happy to report we didn't see a single drop of water leak through. Overall, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and, most importantly, extremely responsive and communicative. We're already talking to them about a much bigger project to add a bedroom and bath in our garage. We couldn't recommend them enough!

They handled everything -- planning, architecture, permits, inspections, and construction -- which made a complex project much easier to navigate. The finished space matches what I had envisioned, both functionally and aesthetically. Throughout the process, the team was consistently nice, honest, and flexible. They were easy to work with, willing to accommodate changes, and I never felt pressured or intentionally misled. Their direct employees, in particular, did excellent work and were professional on site. There were a couple of drawbacks that keep this from being a full five stars. First, the project took significantly longer than expected. There didn't seem to be much formal project management, so it was often unclear when work would happen or who would be coming by. If you value tight schedules and proactive communication, you may need to push for updates. Second, the subcontractors they used weren't top-tier. The plumbers and electricians I've worked with independently were faster and more reliable. Again, their in-house crew was great -- the inconsistency mainly came from subs. That said, the final result is excellent, and I would use SF Remodel again -- just with clearer expectations about timeline and subcontractor quality going in.

George's crew helped to side vent the dryer which the big box store was unable to do. George gave valuable input on our bathroom design to optimize the small space. He had suggestions for an in-wall toilet, a corner sink, window ledge niche, and talked us out of a doorless shower (thank you!). He knows small spaces very well and was able to place the fixtures in their best locations. George would give us a heads up on our requests that were going to cost more than ~1k. He had some subcontractors come in to help with varying degrees of quality and cleanliness. We are glad he managed the plumbing contractor who had to come back 3 times. The best part of working with George was that we were expecting our first child, and he worked very hard to complete the project before her due date.
