Brent arrived at the expected arrival time, polite and courteous. Sharpened several kitchen knives and shears, some in pretty bad shape with nicks. He was able to put a new edge on my serrated bread knife that previously wouldn't cut! Haven't tried it yet but it looks brand new. Pricing might be considered a little high but when you consider he comes to you, and you don't have to send your knives out to the manufacturer, and they are ready in minutes, worth it! read more

I only had one knife to be sharpened. I'm one of those people with three levels of Japanese stones and ceramic sharpening rods and the like. But I don't have the tools to sharpen a serrated knife. I didn't want him to have to drive all the way to my house for one knife so I came to his place. It took him about five minutes and I am ridiculously happy. that knife was so dull I could tear bread apart easier than cut it with that knife. I'm glad we did it that way, he lived near someplace I had to go by anyway. Saved him some time saved me some time and he did a fantastic job. Very reasonably priced and a nice guy. read more

Came across his van while grocery shopping. I don't carry my knives around so he offered to stop by my house. Instead, I drove right back with my butcher block of knives for him sharpen. He did a wonderful job with my never before sharpened knives. I even had a chip on one of my serrated knives which is now gone and the edges are still intact. He kindly wrapped them in a towel afterward (instead of the bag I brought them in) and off I went on my ninja way. read more

Do not use this guy for shear sharpening. I'm sure he's great at knives and axes. But hair cutting shears are a def no! He sharpened my brand new shears in November. They never cut the same after. I took them to another guy who I trust, after taking them apart, a crucial ball bearing was replaced with a spring. After contacting the manufacturer was it discíovered why my shears weren't working. He swapped out a very important piece to my shears hoping I wouldn't notice.not very trustworthy. read more

My serrated Henkel bread knife, about 30 or so years old, had reached the point where it was doing more tearing and squashing than slicing on bread. My husband had noticed Brent Evans booth at the Niles Farmers' Market (Fremont), held every Saturday from 9 to 1. I didn't know if bread knives could be sharpened or if I just needed to replace it, but I grabbed it along with three other knives and headed down to the farmers' market. Indeed, Brent sharpened my bread knife along with the three other equally old knives from that set, none of which had been professionally sharpened in their long lives. What a joy to have them all in such great working order. We went to Brent's booth first, then did some other shopping while he worked on our knives. When we picked them up Brent answered all of my husband's questions about how he sharpened the knives and about what we were doing correctly and incorrectly in our knife care. We also purchased a ceramic sharpening rod from Brent and he demonstrated the correct way to use it. We will be back to see him when our knives need more attention. read more

Brent accommodated my schedule request and did a great job. My previous knife sharpener seems to be out of business, so I had to make a change. This was my first time using this service. I use my kitchen knives and pocket knives extensively so I have them sharpened about twice a year. Brent did more than my previous sharpener did. He polished all my knives and even fixed a bolster problem on a couple of old kitchen knives. They came back looking good with a nice edge on them.
