They were quick and efficient. Very Professional. Been a while I need to pay them a visit. read more

Easy drop off, quick and detailed work and quite affordable for the level of quality. Dropped off a standard Wustof chef's knife, two Japanese beauties and a really nice carbon steel Town Cutler chef's knife. All came back in excellent shape. read more

Sharpening knives makes a real difference in using them. It makes using them safer and more pleasant. It couldn't be easier to have Austin sharpen your knives. You book an appt on his website, show up at the appointed time, park in front of his home, and he greets you and picks up your knives. They are ready in less than an hour, and he texts you when they're done. Drive up again, pick up the knives, and you're done. The price is very reasonable. I recommend Sharp Brothers to anyone that enjoys doing cooking. read more

Such a gem for Bay Area sharpening services. I have 4 knives, and only 4 knives. One is very special to me. I took three Shun knives for sharpening; a pearing, a utility, and a santoku. The blades glisten like the edge is new. Cut was a joy when they were dull, greater still with the fresh edgr offered by The Sharp Brothers. I took my 11" sashimi Kikuichi for sharpening. Air trembles at the thought of getting caught on the cutting board. Not only that, but the service is expedient, SUPER reasonable, and the provider is amicable. Thank you so much! I will seek your sharpening services as often as needed. read more

Last year I had Austin come out to my house. I rounded up neighbors who like me are not gonna go down to Kensington Farmers Market to get knives sharpened but liked the idea of dropping off their knives and garden shears to my house. It was a sunny day and it could have been a great block party! Austin is a great guy and everyone was happy! read more

We cook almost every meal at home, so our knives take a beating. After the pandemic quite a few sharpening services around us closed, and one mobile service we tried was terrible and put us off professional sharpening for awhile. But enter the Sharp Brothers! I loved their fast model at farmers markets where you can drop off the knives and mill around while theyre sharpening the knives. They did 7 knives in 30 mins and they're SO so sharp. Will use again thank you! read more

I have a small multi-tool pocket knife that I've been using 2017 and was so blunt it couldn't draw blood. I've tried sharpening it myself using a Victorinox knife sharpener, but that dulled it even more (because of my lack of expertise, no fault of the equipment). I gave up and just dealt with having a blunt pocket knife because, hey, the scissors on the multi-tool could be a knife in a pinch. I decided this past week to get over that hump of inaction and just look for a person with the skills to just sharpen my knife, who, if it were conscious, would agree that it's long past due! A quick Google search and online appointment later, I found myself in a hilly part of Oakland. I noticed a man standing on the sidewalk while I was trying to parallel park on a somewhat crowded street. After I finished, he and I gave each other the look and knew we were on the same page. He chuckled to himself when I showed him the single, small blade I wanted sharpened. He said he'd get it done in 5-10 minutes. I walked around the neighborhood for 12-17 mins before loitering in front of his place. After I checked my phone, I realized he had already finished 8-10 earlier and texted me to return! He came out and the grand total was $5, which I found agreeable and fair. It's very clear that he likes the work because, when I was speaking to him about how to sharpen my pocket knife better in the future, his eyes glowed up as he started to talk shop. I really enjoy the passion people have about their work, especially when they have that glint in their eyes as someone gets them to talk about it. I think my budding career as a knife sharpener has been nipped because I've found a true professional who I'll just take all of my full knives to in the future. Highly recommend! read more

Our knives came back *very* sharp, after a quick turnaround. Nice folks to deal with. Priced below the folks I see at farmers markets etc and they do a better job--likely, because they're more knowledgeable--than I do w my diamond-coated "stone" read more

Great, easy sharpening! I scheduled a 30 minute drop-off and Austin met me out front, took the knives and turned them around in under 15. They're cutting beautifully. I also love the "prescription" card included, that notes a few things to be aware of that can harm your knives (cutting on certain surfaces, leaving submerged in water, etc.) Easy to pay via Venmo and great pricing. Will absolutely be bringing my knives back because I'm hopeless at sharpening myself. Thanks Austin! read more

Great work and timely service! Tuned up my wùstoffs better than new. (I actually kept cutting myself the first couple weeks from the slightest touch, not used to them being THAT sharp!) Awesome job, and a nice guy to boot. read more

Austin came to our house for the $100 minimum. He did 11 high quality knives and an Ax. We cook a ton and have never really known how to properly care for our high end knives. We really destroyed the edges with other crappy sharpeners. We now know what a very high quality even edge looks like. Austin trained under one of the top knife sharpeners in the world and the edge he put on our knives is insane and better than when they were new. He has been doing this for 17 years but doesn't look older than 30. Huge props for young artists like this in Oakland. He was so good and such a nice guy I felt I was robbing him by only giving $100 so gave him $125. I will only use my steel once a week with only two light swipes a sides at a 15 degree angle to keep that edge and probably bring him back once a year. read more

It felt a little odd to take all my Japanese knives to a random house to get them sharpened but they did an awesome job. Super responsive and fast and my knives look better than ever! Will definitely use them again. read more

Awesome service and great value! #Supportlocal I had 3 kitchen and 4 pocket knives sharpen. What intrigued me the most was my vintage Benchmade Mini AFCK 812S which I sent to Benchmade 20+ years ago to get sharpen. Unfortunately, it was beyond saving and socked it in the drawer and forgotten about it. In addition to the Benchmade, I have a Spydeco Michael Walker which was also beat up and the Sharp Brother bought it back to life... Great work and #supportlocal read more

My 15 year old Tramontina knife set was way overdue for a sharpening. I booked an appointment to drop off at their shop through their website with two days notice. A nice fella collected the knives and I waited in the car. Fifteen minutes later, knives are done! GF was so pleased with how sharp the knives were that she cut herself two days later out of excitement. Definitely recommend!! read more

I took my kitchen knives to them and they did a great job sharpening them all! Reasonable prices, fast service, and excellent results. Couldn't ask for more! read more

Very dependable. Very courteous and honest business. Turn around was quick. Efficient drop off and pick up system.

Fast, friendly and SHARP! You can find the Sharp Brothers at local farmers' markets, or make an appointment at their shop. I did the latter, and was met out front by Austin right on time. 15 minutes later, I left with expertly sharpened knives, new cardboard sheaths to replace the paper wraps I'd made for the trip to the shop, and a few tips on knife care. I'd never had my knives professionally sharpened, and it's an entirely different experience than doing it myself (i.e., they actually got sharpened). All of the knives feel brand new. The serrated bread knife - my favorite, but don't tell the other knives - easily cuts through crusty sourdough without destroying the slice in the process. The chef's knife makes quick work of meats and vegetables, and the paring knives cut more precisely than ever. Dull knife = dull life, don't let it happen to you! read more

Affordable, fast and friendly. Austin had all 6 of my knives ready within 30 minutes and even put wood oil on the handles. They weee like brand new. Highly recommend read more

Owners provide excellent, friendly service and offer convenient drop-off and pick-up for perfectly sharpened knives.

Excellent service! I drove over from SF, dropped off my knives and they were done in 1/2 hour. They cut better than when I bought them!

Excellent service at Farmers Market, superior work, and they do a great job with my gardening tools, scissors, etc.

We got our entire kitchen set of knives sharpened and couldn't be happier! Only took about 25 min and they were done. Definitely coming back again next time. read more

Fantastic! Recommended by a friend, a made an appointment, dropped my knives and a pair of kitchen shears, took a walk, and they texted me when they were ready, about 30 minutes later. Great prices and I paid by Venmo. I highly recommend and I will be back when my knives need sharpening again. read more

I took my knives to the Grand Lake farmers market to get sharpened, including my Global and a Shun, and they've all come back duller than they were beforehand. A couple of them somehow have burrs. All of them struggled to cut through an onion without a lot of pressure. It doesn't seem like there was much effort to keep a consistent angle on both sides of the place either. read more

My knives were so dulled that they wouldn't even slice a tomato. Sent a request for an appointment and received a response within a few minutes. Drop them off and in 30 minutes had sharp knives. Great service. read more

Good price, easy drop off process, and the knives are ridiculously sharp. Invest in bandaids!

Handled my tardiness and very rude drunk cousin beautifully. Not to mention my knives (including my great grandfather's chef's knives) are hella sharp now. Very nice guy. read more

Dropped off all my knives, went for a quick walk, and then picked them up. Super easy, fast, and high quality.

Awesome service, dropped off at the end of his driveway, and he brought out beautiful sharp knives 15min later. My knives are so sharp now I can cut a tomato like those knife commercials! Highly recommend read more

I absolutely love the convenience of being able to drop my knives off while I'm shopping at the farmers market. They do an excellent job every time, and they are fast too. I am very picky about who touches my knives and they haven't disappointed me. Their prices are very reasonable too. read more

The Sharp Brothers - Knife Sharpening Near Me

Great knife-sharpening service! Recommended by my daughter who takes her knives to Kensington Farmers Market. I made an appointment to visit their shop and was very happy with the experience. The gentleman had several knives of different sizes sharp and ready in 25 minutes. Will certainly go back to them! read more

I took my Shuns and Miyabis to them. After they were done, my knives were so sharp that they actually dug into cutting boards. I had to be careful to put a wet towel under the board to keep it from sliding away. These guys know how to handle high-end knives. They use a proper wheel and then hone the knife to an atomic-level tip. Three high-end knives didn't even come to $30 and they were done in less than 10 minutes. This is an unheard-of level of service. Highly recommend. read more

Experience was wonderful, and I am totally satisfied. He met me in front of his place, brought me to the workshop, made suggestions, and sharpened 4 knives all in less than half an hour. I'm about to make another appointment for our other knives. read more

Very professional work; on time, convenient house call by Austin. He sharpened dozens of knives, garden tools, etc., in about an hour and 15 minutes (in his truck parked on the street). Would definitely recommend and use this service again. read more

I brought my wonderful Mac knife and a pair of scissors which were in pretty bad shape. Fifteen minutes later, repaired and sharpened like returned and cut better than new. What a team of kind experts. A joy to have people that know how to do something well. read more

Took my dad's Kramer knives here to get them sharpened for his birthday. So happy I was able to get them done the day of, on such a short notice! Really, really pleased with the sharpening of my knifes from the Sharp Brothers. I've had my set for about 10 years now and have had them sharpened once every year and a half or so and this was by far the best they've ever come out. Perfect blades, they got out any light pitting or tiny chips, and were very quick- about 20 minutes or so for 6 blades. Nice, friendly guys at the tent in Jack London too. They're so good they make me want to prepare and cook even more. I've gone to other local shops in Oakland, an expensive specialty Japanese knife shop in NYC, and a few other places that were rated well but none have turned out as well as this round at the Sharp Brothers. The cash-only policy is the only thing I could ding them for, but since they're at a Farmer's Market it gets a pass. read more

Excellent, professional, friendly, punctual...and my knives are sharper than ever! Highly recommend.

Their service was amazing, simply drive up drop off your knives and receive text messages with updates. Once the knives are complete you drive back pay and off you go. read more

Strange, I thought I reviewed these folks a while ago. I've taken knives and other blades to Austin several times and always wind up very very happy. Recently I brought him a blade from a specialized paper cutting machine. He told me he had never sharpened a blade of that type before but didn't think he would have a problem. He polished a few little chips out of the edge and it's now razor sharp. This service is excellent, punctual, polite and reasonably priced. I will be back again and again. read more
