They do an Excellent job and prices are very reasonable. I have been using them for my Cutco knives and garden tools for 35 years. No more saw blades. My dad used them in the 1960's for lawn mower and saw blades, Vito taught Vince well. They also sharpens scissors including very expensive hair cutting shears. Vince can take a cheap Harbor freight machete and make it a very dangerous tool. Also in 60's they did small engine repairs and were they Vespa scooter dealer for Walnut Creek. No they do not have email or a website. They are a CASH only business also.They never took credit cards or ATM. They quit taking checks sometime during COVID I think. read more

I am very impressed with the sharpening service I received. My husband is a long-time chef, and appreciates a sharp blade. I brought in all of our Chef's, Santoku, and paring knives to get the edges refreshed. Vito's sharpened them all for me and I picked them up the very next day. These blades are razor-sharp! They were even able to smooth out the nicks in our old 8" Connoisseur blade, which cuts like new again. They also did a great job with my Kershaw pocket knife, which was badly in need of a refresh. Overall, very happy with the speed, quality, and value of workmanship. Happy to support this family business. I brought in a brand new knife I'd picked up, a Toor knives - Jank Shank. $200 knife. I'd read the reviews and thought it would be a good place to put a razer edge on my knife. Nice lady took it in back, brought it back destroyed. It was a darkened knife and I'd had it engraved all over the blade. Whatever they'd sharpened it with had brought it down to bare metal a full inch from edge of the blade, removing the bevel.... and my fresh engraving, then put in a new bevel by hand, unevenly.... like a wave. I just left. If they wanna reach out to me, I encourage it. They destroyed my knife and I want to warn everyone else that it could happen to them. read more

Wow! Vito's is the absolute best sharpening service around. I have very old, very good, very worn knives (inherited from my 101-year-old mother, the kind that rust if you don't dry them promptly -- Point of Clarification: the knives rust, not my mother!), as well as newer knives. I have had them sharpened elsewhere and was satisfied with the sharpening service, but I moved and had to find a new place. One of the older large kitchen knives had worn very unevenly, and the center of the knife blade was significantly higher than the blade ends. So, on to Vito's. I left the knives at Vito's for pickup the next day (it might have been the grandson working at the counter; he was very pleasant and easy to deal with). When I collected the knives, I noticed that Vito had gone the extra step of straightening the blade edge on the large knife without charge. But the real treat was yet to come. My knives are now sharper than they have been at any time since I owned them. It is actually amazing how easily I can cut through raw chicken or beef; how thinly I can slice cooked chicken, cooked beef, raw vegetables or bread; and how effortless dicing even fresh ginger has become. I dropped off my knife for sharpening and the man behind the counter was not wearing a mask. I asked him if he could put one on and he said he didn't have one, he went in the back and pulled one out. When I came back to pick up my knives two gentlemen were behind the counter, not wearing masks. I asked if they could put on masks and the older gentleman said no, he didn't have to. He walked out of the room and said the other guy could put on a mask. This blatant disregard for my health is very upsetting. It is totally against California's COVID-19 protocols. This type of flippant attitude will keep me from going to this establishment even after the pandemic is over. read more

I don't get my kitchen knives sharpened very much but my pocket knife I use all the time and come in at least once a month to get it sharpened. it's usually done while you wait and takes only 5 minutes for a single pocket knife and the charge is $4 usually!! I was disappointed by this business. First, I was greeted by a young man who was not wearing a mask during COVID Pandemic, and he did not put one on when I mentioned it. I quickly left 4 knives and returned the next day to pick them up. Same young man again not wearing a mask. He got me my knives which were wrapped all together in newspaper. It is a small shop. The price was good. Only $20 for the 4 including one serrated bread knife. When I examined my knives at home is when I became disappointed. The edges had some small pits/irregularities so I don't think they were honed after being sharpened. And they just were better but they weren't that sharp. Full disclosure, I didn't get past a phone call. I just wanted to confirm that they are cash only, and whoever answered the phone had a terrible attitude. Here's how our one minute conversation went: I asked if they take cash only. His response was to laugh at me and say yeah that they always have for 20 years, or whatever (okay boomer). Bro, I just moved here. Sorry that I wasn't aware of the cash only policy at your world renowned knife sharpening shack. I then asked if they do Venmo or Zelle by chance, since y'know, it's 2022, you probably have a smart phone, and a debit transaction is a debit transaction and it's not like they'd have pay a fee to receive my money or anything. He laughed at me again, and said that's not cash so no (maybe not everyone understands how money works, but a debit transaction via Venmo is the same as paying in cash, we're not talking about credit or any borrowing here). Finally, I asked if there was an ATM near I could use otherwise I'd have to find one on my way in, since I haven't paid in cash anywhere in over a decade. Of course he is really enjoying looking down on me for some reason for not keeping my savings in the form of cash stuffed in my mattress, so he laughs again and says he feels bad for me. I was kind of floored at this point, what the hell is this guy's problem? So I asked why do you feel bad for me? His response was that well this is why people don't pay with cash anymore. Sort of a hole in the wall store that I presume has been there for nearly forever, but they have sharpened my electric livestock shears, kitchen knives, everything for, in my opinion, next to nothing! One antique roast knife they sharpened had several nicks in the blade -- they left it looking like new, without the nicks! I highly recommend them! The ladies who work there are very friendly -- they seem to enjoy their work, and anyone who comes in the door! You can usually park directly in front of the store -- no parking meter! I've even brought cheap knives I used for cutting carpet and old Amazon boxes, and even my cheap knives cut extremely well now! read more

No muss, no fuss, and I got my four knives back well sharpened, and for a reasonable price. I didn't have enough cash or my checkbook to pay for everything and they let me take my knives anyway and said that I could mail them a check to pay the balance. I never saw Vito, but was handed my clippers back taken apart. Now I can't put them back together - apparently, I need to buy the entire blade assembly. I gave the nice lady at the counter my cherished Victorinox chef's knife at noon, and picked it up 24 hours later. It was absolutely nicely sharpened. Still sharp two months later. . . . Just before I took it here to Vito's, I had taken this knife to one of those high end gourmet kitchen stores that said they had a knife sharpening service. After several days, I got it back, and it was just as dull as ever, though I could see they did something to it...probably ran it through a machine. What a waste of time and $.
