When I checked out Delta Sharpening, I was pretty skeptical. No reviews, no background, but I liked his responses to my questions and comments, so decided to try him out. Brought him 5 knives of various pedigree, 2 that were at least 40 years old but I use all the time, a favorite pocket knife that I could never get sharp and a couple newer ones. When I picked them up, they were the sharpest I have ever seen! Jeff's pricing is very reasonable, especially for the results, and he's a very amiable guy, which just adds to the experience. I know this is his first review, which would make me skeptical if I were looking, but give him a try. I'm willing to bet you'll be pleased as well.

I had a brand new 8" Amici Wusthof Chef knife. It strangely came to me with something like a micro serrated edge...not smooth like a normal Chef's knife. Peter mentioned it might have been defective from the factory. In about 10 minutes he shaved off the serrations and made my beautiful knife sharp as a razor. I highly recommend Acme Sharpening. Fyi when I was waiting for my knife, I noticed he was taking apart and sharpening all kinds of garden tools. So, it's not just knives he does.

That also saved the trouble of fighting the traffic and crowds at the market (BTW, Peter said he will not be at the San Ramon Farmer's Market going forward). I brought 18 knives of assorted sizes to be sharpened, and they were done within a couple of hours. Peter called me when they were done, and they were nicely sheathed and wrapped when I picked them up. I paid by credit card. I haven't used other knife sharpening services, so I can't comment on whether the prices were good or not, but the 18 knives cost be a little over $140 (the price per knife varies by the length and type). The knives are very sharp (again, I don't have a benchmark for sharpness, but they're definitely a lot sharper than they were). I would definitely recommend Acme Sharpening to anyone wanting convenient, professional knife sharpening.

The knives were wrapped way too tight. It was a challenge to cut through the tape. The owner is a good and decent man and I like the kiosk location. His prices are fair.
