This is my 2nd time getting my schears sharpened from Mr.jack. Right now he is doing business from his home since the farmers market is closed. You can call and set up a meeting time. I brought my a paring, Santorum and cleaver to Mark's residence several weeks ago.He sharpened my knives while I waited in the car. It's still sharp! When he was done, he came out wearing his apron to bring the knives. He even provided me with a bandaid just in case. We brought 4 knives over during the Pleasanton Farmers market. Within 20 minutes, we were done with our shopping and our knives were done. We got a little bandaid with our knives back and I thought to myself "Aw. How cute." Well turns out I used that bandaid later that evening when using one of those knives. Lol. One word- amazing! We made the long trek from Vacaville to Pleasanton. It was so worth it! These people are top notch. We own 5 star Henkle knives and they previously had been mistreated by another so-called knife sharpener. We were so traumatized by the damage to our knives, it had been years since we have comfortable with taking them in for re-sharpening. We were very nervous about it but after reading all the great reviews in Yelp, decided to give it a go. They are literally a mom and pop shop and the nicest people ever. We brought all 12 knives in including shears and they were all perfectly sharpened within a short 30 minute wait. Prices were very reasonable. We also got to enjoy the farmers market while we waited. Quick friendly service with a smile! I was at the Pleasanton Farmers Market over the weekend picking up fresh fruits and veggies when I saw Absolutely Sharp at the end of the market next to the Kettle Corn folks. Just earlier that week I thought to myself, my pocket knife a year and a half old is duller than I prefer and it has never been sharpened. I walked up to their booth and was greeted by a friendly face. I showed the lady my pocket knife. She brought it back for the guy working the machine to do a quick inspection and said $3. I left the knife with them and continued to shop and 10 minutes later, it was ready. He even tightened up all the moving parts on my knife. Mark does a fantastic job at sharpening. He sharpened our gardening tools and lawnmower blade and they work so much better. It is really convenient to either have him sharpen items right there at the Pleasanton Farmers Market or on my bulky item he just took it one Saturday and I picked it up the next Saturday. The rates are great and he sharpens just about anything. I even saw a man bring in a giant sword and he sharpened that too. Excellent service, albeit pricey--but definitely worthwhile if your concern is quality work and care for your knives. If you have forged knives, this is where you should go. For the price of sharpening one set of knives, you can easily purchase a sharpener from Amazon. However, I've found that forged knives, being thicker and far stronger than stamped knives, tend not to fare well with consumer sharpeners. When I took my poor knives here, they sorted and sharpened them to perfection. I'm extremely satisfied and will be visiting again with another set of knives. read more

I went to the Livermore Farmer's Market on 4/7/13 to get some fruits and veggies, but when I saw the knife sharpening stand I went home and came back with 4 knives. That night I used each of those knives and they turned out great. I have had them sharpened in Berkeley before at Sur La Table and although they did a fine job it was not as convenient and nice as Absolutely Sharp's set up. The nice woman at the booth even gave me a lesson on how to correctly use my steel at home in between sharpening services. Today I went back again with my lawn mower blades and WOW not only did the nice man sharpen them with care and precision, he also cleaned them and got all of the rust off. Mark is the nicest guy! I was a little worried because I have never had my hair cutting scissors sharpened. I am new to the hair industry and haven't been cutting hair all that long but I just got my first job doing hair and I decided that I needed to have them sharpened. I didn't see any reviews about him doing any hair cutting scissors or shears so here it goes: He did an amazing job! My scissors came back super sharp and it cost me $25 to have them done (average price for the area) it took him only 30 minutes to do them. He wrapped them up in paper for me so that I wouldn't accidentally cut myself on them. He also reminded me to keep my receipt to use for when I do my taxes because it was a business expense. Since I've never done this before, I didn't even think of that. My texturizing shears didn't need to be sharpened but I asked about pricing for next time.
