This is my second review in a year for this company and I am sure it will not be my last. When we bought the property it came with tons of tree and yes they were beautiful but they were overwhelming to the property and sickly. Most recently we had the notorious pine bark beetles decide they wanted to chomp their way thru the forest. If you have ever experienced these beetles you know how fast they eat and if you have not experienced the beetles let me say this....if you see a pine tree start turning brown for no reason and then it just dies in a matter of 2 weeks, you have beetles and then they start chomping your next tree and your next tree....call a Custom tree surgeons immediately to get those pests out of their. You cannot kill the beetles you must get rid of the trees they are eating and the surrounding trees in order to protect your other pines. The guys come out and never stop working once they hit the ground it's a chain saw symphony. Little Bobcats picking up all the logs and cherry pickers with the guys up in the air cutting down trees. Then there are the guys on the ground raking up the debris. Totally amazing. I really cant say enough wonderful things about the company. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing tree(s) removed. read more

I downgraded my previous review. after 3 weeks and multiple calls, there was no attempt to remedy the situation. my husband and I did this morning did what they said couldn't be done. attached are photos AFTER they trimmed my tree (for $250) then after my husband and I fixed it ourselves. read more

Custom Tree Surgeons is a terrific company. The experience from beginning to end was smooth. It began with a phone call to Steve Baker who set up an appointment to come view our needs. Steve was straight up looked at the trees, gave us advice on our bonsai tree and fixed our pole saw. His $ estimate was equivalent to two previous estimates. The bonsai and the pole saw swayed us to select Custom. Scheduling was easy. The first day Rick, the crew leader explained what would be taking place over the time they would be working on our place.He was really professional, a great worker and a good guy. Along with Rick were Stevie who went way up in the air to cut down the trees and Josh who worked on supporting Stevie and much more. Everyone was skillfull and hard working. On the second day Robert joined them and he was both skillfull and hard working too. Finally David and others came out to take care of the stump grinding. Everyone was careful to clean after themselves and to leave the place better then it was previously. All in all it was an excellent experience and our property benefited from the labor. Agreed to quoted price for tree removal. They showed up at the agreed time although I was not home. When I cam home two hours later they were gone and the trees were still there. I called the sales person and never got a call back. I then called the office and asked for the owner. He didn't return my request. The salesman called back over an hour later and said they couldn't get the crane in so it would now cost an additional $1500. I couldn't get an explanation on why they left without contacting me. (Very unprofessional) I told him that I was a prior customer and had recently referred business to them and under the circumstances I was willing to split the increase. I also mentioned that the owner didn't have the guts to call me. Finally an angry owner called using an insulting religious epitaph and then told me to go find someone else and hung up. They did a great job. I hated getting rid of that beautiful oak tree but it was fighting with my driveway and winning. Custom arrived a few days after I hired them, at a reasonable price, bright and early. They were very professional and worked safely and quickly, grinding a difficult stump caught between the driveway and sidewalk. The driveway finally won. This company is so sleazy. I had an estimate done for removing dead wood and the odd branch off some live oaks on our property. I decided on their 2 hour minimum ( $700 an hr.). They were going to get back to me but to come out and do the job but no one called. Then out of the blue Steve called and left a message that they had an opening but by the time I called him back they were on to another job. He put me on their books for another day. They were to come at 8:00 a.m. I had another appointment to get to and when they hadn't come by 9 I called. Was told they went to and "emergency" that morning and would come by later in the day. No phone call to say they weren't coming! I have no doubt if a bigger job came up after the "emergency", they would have ditched me again. I requested a free estimate, and got a prompt response from the owner, Scott. He came to our home on Monday, looked at four trees in our yard, and recommend the removal of two of them. He gave me a cost estimate, and called me back a couple of hours later to say he could have a crew at our house on Tuesday. The crew arrived at 9:45AM, and by 3:30PM, we had two trees removed, stumps ground, the debris removed, and the yard cleaned up. They were very courteous regarding our property. I got an estimate from Custom Trees. When Steve arrived, he didn't even bother turn off his truck while we looked at the trees in the front and back yard I wanted cut down or trimmed. He gave me an estimate that was 100% higher than the company I chose. Steve wasn't even very nice to me (my impression his voice/manner wasn't very friendly). He didn't bother to even write out an estimate just gave a verbal quote. Maybe my job wasn't large enough for him to be nice and want my business, although his bid was $800. The company I chose, Above and Beyond did a great job at a resonable price. I'd highly recommend Above and Beyond. I would not recommend Custom Tree Surgeons. read more

I am so incredibly happy with my service from this company. I called because I was having some issues with another tree company and I called Steve who stayed on the phone with me for 20-30 explaining the service and answering all of my questions. He came out the next working day to give me an estimate and matched the quote from the company I was struggling with (only reason I was staying with them). Steve came out and quoted a price to remove a very large water oak, hanging over our roof. He explained the process that they would use to remove the tree while protecting my property and my neighbors too. The price included using a crane to remove the tree and stump grinding including the root area. All of the crews were very professional and did a great job of removal. Clean-up was exceptional. These guys are awesome. Really. I had another guy come out and try to rip me off. Little did that guy know that I actually have a bit of a background in forestry - tried to tell me my trees were dead and needed to go or else. I knew they weren't dead. CTS came and were honest, professional and confirmed what I already knew to be true. The trees just needed to be trimmed back and have somethings removed to survive. There is a tree that has to go but not right now. The price was reasonable too. More so, they move all the stuff that would get damaged in the yard - my flamingos, gnomes, bird feeders - and put them back. And tomorrow they are gonna come pick up the waste. They showed up about 8 am and was done in no time. the crew was very professional and polite. They cleaned up the yard leaving no sign they were even there, other than the tree being removed. We had a 50' Oak tree in our front yard. Over the years dead limbs, trimming, feeding could not prevent additional dead limbs and rot in the upper limbs. We received two estimates for the removal of the tree, and requested a third from a company that did not show. We heard about Custom Tree Surgeons on 1010 XL Sports Talk radio. We made the call and received an email estimate from Steve. The Custom Tree estimate was a little less than the two other tree removal estimates we received. We witnessed the work of one of the companies that had done work in the area and was a little concerned as the workers did not have hard hats or safety harnesses. Custom Tree arrived with two trucks and three workers, assessed the tree, located the utilities, and began the work of removing the tree. All workers had hard hats and safety goggles. A lift was used to cut the upper limbs. The worker on the lift used a safety harness with attachment to the lift. When the cutting began, the clean-up began. The two workers on the ground removed the limbs to the edge of the street. An hour and a half into the removal, a third truck with two additional workers arrived. The truck had a boom lift to haul away the debris. Two hours later the tree was gone, the workers raked, picked up and cleaned the area. They also advised the stump grinder would be by the next day to remove the 4' diameter stump. Well, the stump is now gone, the grinder worker located the utilities before beginning the grinding. When he finished , he picked up, and racked, and cleaned the area. Very pleased with the coordination of the work and final result. The work began on 3-19-18 8:30 and was completed by 12:30. The stump was removed on 3-20-18. We also received a follow-up call from Steve, checking to see if there were any problems or areas of concern. There were none. TWO THUMBS UP!!!. After reading all of the 5 star reviews I tried to get an estimate for 3 trees I want removed. The first attempt was several months ago. I had an appointment scheduled with Steve for late afternoon. He called me and said he was running ahead of schedule and wanted to come early. I informed him I was at work and couldn't be home early. Apparently this wasn't a request to reschedule. Steve didn't bother to show for our appointment and then didn't return my calls. The next attempt to get an estimate was over a week ago. I completed their online form and have yet to be contacted.
