I had an 8"-10" diameter limb on a giant pin-oak that had spanned over my roof (also: I have a very tall house). It was a true "widow-maker" of a limb. I had 5 arborists come and bid the job, and they were very nervous, and the price was pretty high. First Choice didn't bat an eye, and their bid was the lowest by several hundred dollars. At first, I was very hesitant to accept such a low offer; but I used some AI tools to analyze comments and reviews across several sites, and the only negative comment found was that they once removed the "wrong" tree. YELP saves again Racking up leaves can be great exercise but it gets old quick when temps from under 60 and it's raining every other day. And I was more then tired of clearly leaves from the car every morning. Time to cut/trim down some trees. Could have tired Angie's list - but I think Yelp's word of mouth works so much better. After creating a list, I start calling around. Most places were OK on the phone. This place was GREAT. Great customer service: Was clueless on what needed to be done. Talked with Brian and he said he would come to the home, look around and leave an itemized typed up list in the mail of things that needed to be addressed, cost, and a time frame for the completion. He initially called late Wednesday morning, and confirmed he'd be out later that same day. He then calls to let me know that he has sent the list out in the mail. Great communication and great cost! Great employees: Sometimes in services industries the face of the company is pleasant but the crews are much less. Not the case, every person worked efficiently and with a pleasant demeanor. Clearly Brian trust his crews and knows he has quality people working under him. There was no harsh words, or smoking, etc. Completely professional staff. Service: Brian and his crew worked beautiful throughout the day Thursday. Arrive before 9 and working through the rain and cold weather. The sun had set but still they continued working. We chose Brian based on Yelp reviews. The first time we hired him, at the end of 2016, he was great. He lived up to the reviews. During that job, he gave us a quote to remove a few trees, including a dead one, and to clean up the backyard, including tearing down an old tin shed. His price was $3300. When we were able to have thr work completed, in August 2017, he came back and requoted $5500, to completely clean up the backyard,a d haul it away. Granted, the backyard was a warzone jungle, probably the worst ever, but he was standing in the backyard, he knew what he was quoting. We also were adamant that the dead tree must come down, above all else. We gave him a $1,000 deposit. He started work. A few days later, he asked my mom for another advance. She gave him $3700, to ensure the mountain of debris piling up in the front yard was hauled away. She held back $800 of the remaining balance just in case he failed to have it hauled away. It was at this point Brian stopped working. No more work was done. My mom went to the property and found two of his men in her front yard unloading debris from the back of Brian's truck, into the massive debris pile. They assured her they would complete the job, they even called Dustin, who is Brian's climber to confirm. Dustin assured my mom that they would be back to finish the job. That didnt happen. The dead tree remains, they butchered the sycamore tree, the back corner, the worst of the yard, is still a jungle, and the tin shed still has two walls standing. Our neighbors also were witness that the men who were unloading debris into the front yard, did not get the debris from the backyard, like mom assumed. They were just driving up and dumping it. Brian had his guys unload debris from his other jobs onto our property. We had to pay for it to be removed, as well as our own debris. If you are going to use Brian, fine, but be warned not to give him cash before the job is completed. Oh, and he also never returned the key to the locks for our gates. read more

Such a relief... I am so glad i called Brian to remove and trim my trees. I just moved to Jacksonville a week ago and while poking around our back yard my wife discovered a tall old oak tree was hollow. She was afraid it would fall on the house and wanted it down immediately. She found a tree service that gave us an estimate that seemed really high, to do it two days, and when they couldn't do it when promised, I started researching other companies online. I found Brian and First Choice Tree Service on Yelp and called. Brian came out the next morning, on Saturday, and gave us a much more reasonable price to take out the dangerous tree, as well as trim some trees that were hitting our house. We also had another tree we asked about that had been struck by lightening and had termite damage... that tree turned out to be hollow as well. Brian gave us a price to take down both trees in the same day, to save on costs. He then came yesterday, on Tuesday morning, on time, as promised, and by the end of the day both trees were down, and my back-yard was thoroughly cleaned up and leaf blown. It was so nice to wake up this morning and see a clean back-yard, and my wife could sleep soundly last night knowing the tree was no longer a threat. Today he had all the trunks and limbs removed, that were piled by the street, and he and his team raked and leaf blew my front yard, and the street, and it looks good as new. Throughout the job Brian made sure my house, patio, and pool were safe, and clean, and made sure his workers were safe as well. Brian is clearly a conscientious person who goes the extra mile to make to sure everything is done safely and properly. No short-cuts. He puts customer satisfaction first. I was nervous moving to a new city and having to find trustworthy services without knowing anyone, and I am so glad I found Brian to do my tree work. I can't say enough about Brian and his team. They cut down & removed a huge sycamore tree in the backyard. They had to climb up close to 60 feet and cut it down in many segments. There was about a 5x5 area safe for the heavy pieces to fall and they fell in exactly the same spot every time, even from 60 feet up. It was amazing to see the skill and care they took in making sure my home was safe. They hauled off the large pieces and neatly stacked the rest at the street where the city picked it all up. They came out again later to grind the huge stump protecting my property from the flying debris and cleaning everything up where you couldn't even tell they were ever there, except for a nice mulching in the yard. They came back and trimmed 4 very tall palm trees that were in severe need of cleaning up making sure the debris was well contained during the process. They made sure nothing was left in the neighbor's yard and again cleaned up the debris stacking it neatly at the street. An amazing job and the most polite, pleasant guys in the world. Brian is very hands on, he makes sure the job is done and his crew have exactly what they need to do it well. His wife Crystal is a sweetheart, she is very personable and takes great care making sure customers are well taken care of. I so appreciate putting my trust in such a great company of people. John came out and gave us an estimate. He was very good about replying to any questions we had. They arrived on the date and time scheduled and worked non stop for 4 hours removing a very large tree which included the use of a crane. I have nothing but good things to say about First Choice Tree Service and its owner Brian Lang. Mr. Lang showed up when he said he would, was polite and clear on his estimate. Both he and his employees were respectful of me, my property, and my concerns regarding possible damage to my house and that of my neighbors. It was evident once they started removing my very large tree that they were skilled and careful in their work. There were several utility lines passing through the tree, including the JEA electric line, and no damage was made to any of these lines. As an added bonus, he promised to come back, whenever I requested him to do so, to move some tree trunk wood to another location. I have been burned in the past by several business firms promising things after payment and was, therefore, a bit skeptical about this promise. I am delighted to say that Mr. Lang took my call immediately, readily confirmed his agreement to move the wood, gave a day convenient to me when he would do so, and followed through on that promise. Brian and his team were the first to pop up on yelp when I searched for a service to trim up a tree over hanging my house. I am so glad I called him first! Aside from being a super nice guy, he was knowledgeable and prompt. They came out the very next morning and quoted an unbeatable price and got to work right then and there! When they were half way through, he noticed I had some branches touching the roof over the garage on the other side of the house. He suggested, since they were already here and set up, that they would be happy to clear that too and limb up the entire backyard tree line!!! Brian and his team did a wonderful job taking out several trees, trimming up some of our neighbors overhanging branches, and cleaning up some hanging vines on our large live oak tree. After the trimming work was done, they ground out all of the stumps for us and made a very neat, clean pile of trimmings and wood for the city yard waste crew to pick up from the curb. They were very polite and conscientious, and when a stray branch took out some latticework on our neighbor's fence, Brian made a quick trip to home depot and had the lattice replaced within an hour or two. He even made sure to check with both the neighbors and myself to ensure we were satisfied with the work before taking any payment for the job. we would definitely call First Choice again for future jobs and we are very happy with the results! read more

I would definitely recommend First Choice Tree Service! They trimmed some oaks and a rain tree that were hanging over the house and driveway. They also trimmed a couple of sabal palms and cut down/stump grinded a 60 foot washingtonia palm in our backyard. The entire job took less than a day; and when they were all finished, the yard looked wonderful! They cleaned up all of the debris that was left from the trimmings/cuttings! Brian and his crew were extremely friendly and polite, and their prices were VERY reasonable! This company is a joke! I was actually referred by someone who recommended this company, biggest mistake ever. I called Brian Lang and instead of calling back, he texted. (first unprofessional mistake) I responded and told him I was only available on Wednesday and Friday of this week. He said he could come Friday. Never heard anything else back. Wednesday comes around and I texted him and asked if he could come today instead. He replied yes and asked the address. I sent him my address and did not hear anything else so I called and he didn't answer. He then proceeded to text me instead of calling back once again stating that GPS says my address doesn't exist. I proceeded to explain to him through text that the reason I called was because he was going to need directions to my home because a lot of GPS will not find it but he did not answer. So I then sent him directions through texts to my home. A few mins later I receive a message from his wife trying to explain how he didn't get a call from me and came on home. At this point, I didn't even want there business so I simply told her. This is becoming too much a hassle but thanks, please disregard. She responded and I quote "HOW RUDE! NOT MANY COMPANIES WILL COME HOME THEN COME BACK OUT TO GIVE YOU A QUOTE LIKE HE WAS GOING TO DO! WE ARE A GOOD AND CHRISTIAN COMPANY YOU'RE THE ONE MISSING OUT YOURE THE ONE WHO CHANGED THE APPOINTMENT." At this point I am baffled!! This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I cannot believe this woman seriously got on her husbands phone and basically started yelling at me through text because I cancelled the appointment for them to come out!!! AMAZING!!! From the first phone call to the finish, Brian and his team have my house looking almost brand new again. I had originally call them to get a quote on yard cleaning and ended up hiring them for roof/ gutter cleaning, pressure washing the house, and yard cleaning.
