I want to be absolutely…read moreclear so nothing gets lost: the communication, customer service, and basic professionalism I received were shockingly poor, and I deeply regret choosing this company. Photon Brothers wasted 6 months of my time and cost me roughly $17,000 due to their negligence. I repeat, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES CHOOSE PHOTON BROTHERS. There are many solar companies out there, take your business elsewhere!! This is a company that puts customer service LAST and will throw you under the bus and leave you hanging the when issues arise and they need to do something that inconveniences them or impacts their bottom line despite contracts, written and verbal promises and basic honorable/professional business norms. Our family moved into our new home in June and immediately began comparing solar proposals. I ultimately chose Photon because Sam Johnson (senior sales rep) appeared knowledgeable. I was explicit with Sam about the type of roof and shingle I had--I even sent him the official documentation from the roofing company detailing the type of roof and shingle. He assured me multiple times that Photon could handle it and told me he had built extra labor costs into the contract for exactly that reason. We signed a contract and approved financing. Then came the site visit with the installation supervisor, Drew Perry. I was on the roof with Drew as he inspected everything. He told me directly that the roof was suitable and we were "good to go." Every step of the way, Photon reassured me the system would be installed before year-end so I would receive substantial expiring federal tax credits. Throughout this process, I repeatedly checked in with the project manager, Kaitlyn Martinez. Responses were rare, slow, and unhelpful--but when she did reply, she also confirmed everything was on track for installation before year end. Install day--November 24--was when it all fell apart. Only that morning did the installation team realize they had completely overlooked the shingle type and couldn't install the system, even though I had disclosed this upfront and even though their own supervisor had inspected the roof in person. The install crew told me they messed up and would make it right and still get it done before year end. Kaitlyn (project manager) called--one of the only times she ever did--and assured me there would be no added cost and they would still complete the project by year end, I was reassured again that they would uphold the contract and their promises. That turned out to be untrue. After several incredibly frustrating conversations with Sam and co-owner John Johnson, where I had to constantly call them for updates, I was finally told that Photon would NOT complete the project at all. They openly admitted they made the mistake but refused to honor the contract or their repeated promises because it would cost them more in labor. John specifically told me that--even though the error was entirely on their side--they were not willing to take the financial hit to fix it and I was just out of luck. They refused any sort of compensation for my lost time and money. John initially tried to blame me because I had a difficult roof, then blamed Drew Perry (instillation supervisor), then blamed his Ops team then just told me verbatim "construction is difficult" and I need to understand that, so too bad for me. As a result, I've lost more than six months of time and a ~$17,000 tax credit, all because Photon Brothers failed to do their job, failed to communicate, and then refused to take responsibility for their own mistake. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering this company. They overpromise, underdeliver, and when their internal failures come to light, they deflect, delay, and ultimately leave the customer holding the bag. I cannot recommend them under any circumstances.

I recently purchased two premium Lennox Signature Series furnaces with matching heat pumps, and the entire experience--from the sales professional, (Forrest) through installation and final punch-list completion--was outstanding. In an industry where you often make a major purchase and then hold your breath, hoping everything goes right, Independent Solar operates on an entirely different level. They are not a typical HVAC contractor. Their workmanship is impeccable. The installation was clean, precise, and extremely detail-oriented. Every member of the team appeared professional, engaged, and genuinely happy in their work--and that culture clearly translates into the quality of the finished product. Reza and Tom worked on our installation and what impressed me most was how they handled an unexpected issue during installation. These are new, high-tech Lennox systems, and when problems arose that could not be resolved immediately, the team spent a full day attempting to troubleshoot. When it became clear the issue could not be corrected on the spot, they removed both units and replaced them outright--no questions asked. No delays, no finger-pointing, no excuses. Just accountability and doing the right thing. This stood in sharp contrast to a prior experience I had a few years ago replacing an air conditioner from another manufacturer. That situation resulted in over a month of delays during the heat of summer while the installer and manufacturer went back and forth, causing significant frustration before a replacement was finally approved. Independent Solar handled a similar challenge with professionalism, decisiveness, and respect for the customer's time and comfort. If you are considering a high-end HVAC system and want absolute confidence in the installation, service, and follow-through, I recommend Independent Solar without reservation. They set a standard that others in the industry should aspire to.

OGS Electric - Symmetrical rooftop array

    OGS Electric

    (13 reviews)

One star is too generous for OGS, Off-Grid Solutions. I wouldn't trust OGS to replace a lightbulb…read more I had to hire an experienced journeyman electrician to do a forensic inspection of OGS' work and the inspection found numerous code and safety violations by OGS that required remediation. Some of the OGS' mistakes could have caused a fire. The inspector commented that the (OGS) work appeared to be done by an inexperienced person. OGS failed at every step and then extorted me to pay them immediately in cash before the work was complete and before the City electrical inspection. The even clumsily FORGED a changed contract long after the "work" was finished, changing the terms; I had never seen that contract version until 6 weeks after the work was supposed to be completed. I have since learned from OGS that an "apprentice" may have been used on the project, mostly unsupervised, which is illegal in Colorado. I believe that the reason they wanted cash before the inspection is that they didn't not expect their work to pass inspection. We had a detailed contract for a straight-forward electrical panel capacity and amp upgrade. The contract specified that two employee electricians were to take one day to complete installation of a detailed list of equipment and get the permits and inspection done. They sent one (not two) freelance "electrician", who appears to be just an apprentice who is not allowed to work without in-person supervision, who had never seen the work order and did not have a copy. The "electrician" brought and started installing a breaker box that was the wrong brand and 1/3 less capacity than the minimum specified. After a 2nd day of work, OGS were still missing parts, but demanded full cash payment; they said it was too much trouble to bring the remaining necessary parts soon. OGS deliberately delayed requesting City inspection for no valid reason--a homeowner was home every day in January. They threatened to sabotage my follow-on project if I did not pay them cash immediately before the contracted work was completed and inspected. And did. The contracted work is still not completed, weeks later. After numerous threats, I may file extortion charges against them and seek a form of restraining order. IMHO, the GUYS AT OGS ARE NUTS and certainly should not be licensed electricians. The OGS reply to this has substantial misrepresentations; no surprise. Deal with them at your own peril.

I had a great experience working with Heartland Construction Services LLC (also known as Rex…read moreRoofing & Restoration, LLC). They were able to get the job done quickly and efficiently, and they were very customer service oriented. I contacted Joe from Heartland in January of 2022 for the first time. He appeared to be very transparent, knowledgeable, and honest. The company also had the right documentation, reviews, and insurance coverage required to finish the job. I feel like they explained the process extremely well from start to finish. They were also very familiar with the process of working with insurance. The company had a few hiccups with the project, but they handled them graciously and with a strong sense of urgency. For example, there was a delay in getting started because they needed to wait for the insurance company to approve the claim. However, once they got started, they were able to complete the roof installation in a day and they got me on the schedule in only a week's time (despite the overall delays in the industry). In other words, another company may have taken a month to get the project scheduled and materials ordered. They had also got some green skid marks on the driveway from moving the OSB boards, but were out in no time to power wash and scrub the driveway clean. Don was out there on his hands and knees. To me, that is a whole new level of dedication to customer service. Another company may have just snubbed its nose at my concerns and ignored them. Don, the project manager was out several times to make sure the job was done right. He even came back days later to finish painting the inside trim around the skylight. Shannon kept me informed and always was on top of addressing any concerns or needed information. Specifically, Shannon was always quick to respond and always had the answers to my questions. She was a great advocate for me as the customer and helped to keep the project on track (despite those delays because of insurance). I really appreciate all her help in getting the job done. Joe has a lot of experience with this kind of work, and he knows that insurance companies and building departments can be tough to deal with. He was really persistent in advocating for me and trying different approaches. His expertise and problem-solving skills were greatly appreciated. Heartland was also able to upgrade my roof with high-quality class 4 shingles and their team was professional, friendly, and courteous throughout the entire project. They also went above and beyond getting the payout I deserved from my insurance company. The fight dragged on for much longer than it should have, but even the lawyers didn't care to take it on. I can only be eternally grateful for going to bat for the customer and doing what's in their best interest through and through. In short, Heartland Construction is top-notch in every way--I highly recommend them!

Stay far away from them if you're not in a reasonable service area. They are an insurance claim chaser company and will step all over you to get at your payout. They sent different people out to inspect and provide quotes (gutter and soffits/fascia was the scope requested). I did not ask for a roof assessment but the gutter guy thought it might be eligible for an insurance replacement, so I said sure send the guy on out and let's see what happens. That's where it got really.... interesting. My first appointment was for a Friday. I asked for a specific time so I could manage my work schedule around the inspection. A time was agreed upon. Nobody showed up. I had to initiate contact to find out that they would not be coming that day due to the time/distance. We rescheduled and on the rescheduled date, I reached out early to confirm the time and was told the inspector would be 30min late. I readjusted my work calendar and was notified it would be an additional 15min. This turned out to very much work in my favor. The inspection was very thorough and took about 1.5hr. At the conclusion of the inspection I was told they can convince the insurance company to replace the roof. They showed me what ended up being a contract, but was not presented as such explicitly by name. I was asked to sign before they revealed the "fine print" on the back page - which involved having the insurance company sign the check over to Rex Roofing rather than me (I have USAA). This didn't sit well after discussing with several people and reviewing the fine print. I voided the contract within the 72 hour grace period so I can get a second opinion, gather additional quotes, and control my own insurance payout (if that happens). Instead of responding to me to confirm they received my email (always document in writing! With time stamps!) they forwarded it to the inspector who started texting me asking to "resolve" the situation. I explained, as I had in the email, that I would be taking my insurance payout myself and I requested a "cash price" quote from them. I was then told there was no way my insurance company would approve it without the inspector present, a number of wild assumptions and insinuations were made, and I was essentially berated by text by the salesman for exercising a legal right to void the contract. I had to block his number because he would not stop texting me to mansplain how I had no idea what I was doing as a homeowner and he was the only person who could convince my insurance adjuster to cover the roof. Turns out he was right - they talked me into opening a claim, the adjuster said the roof is perfectly fine and they would replace only one portion of one downspout that had hail damage. I can't tell you how the "value" of this company compares to others because they said they would do the work "for a price agreed upon with the insurance company" without providing a scope of work or any numbers of any kind in writing - so I guess they're not really interested in much besides doing the job for as much as they can squeeze out of the insurance company. I might not have made a USAA claim myself but everyone else in my family has.
