I am a retired endodontist and a Harvard Fellow. I have spent my life committed to providing the finest care possible in my profession as well as to my avocation as an artist ( check out Joegrenn.com). Marty Barry has worked on my vehicles for many years and his expertise, knowledge, acumen and punctuality never cease to impress me. He definitely raises the bar in the service he provides and could have as well been ( he'll laugh at this one) a top heart surgeon in my mind. Not to mention how many times I tell my wife that he is one of my favorite guys. And I have known a ton through golf, my profession, skiing, etc. As far as his prices, there's an old saying, "Cheap at twice the price". If you're in need of car stereo service, do yourself a favor and give Marty a call. You won't regret it. read more

CME is amazing! If you want an expert that will provide you the best quality solutions based on your budget, while only using quality products, Marty and CME is the right place for you. I brought my new Land Rover Defender in for help trying to get the sound system to perform since the upgraded Meridian system had terrible bass and the center channel was garbage. Marty custom fabricated and mounted a quality 10" sub to the back swing door using the factory bolts (so all completely removable without any marks). He then added a high performance middle channel mid and tweeter along with a 500w amp. He kept to my budget and had me in and out in 2 days just like he promised. I can't speak highly enough about Marty and the quality job he did. I will be back with my wife's car once it arrives. read more

I have known Marty for quite some time now and had recently purchased a new car on which I needed tinting. I contacted Marty see if he could do it for me. Marty quickly provided me with a couple of dates to schedule the work. For those who know the caliber of work and cars CME provides, it's the best. The workshop more resembles an amazing car show, most days. We had a discussion prior to the work on how dark we wanted to go. I wanted something resembling a factory tint, nothing too dark. Marty recommended a 35% tint. It looks amazing. The work was done in a day and the price was reasonable. I assure you, you can likely get your car tinted for less, but you will quickly find, this is a you get what you pay for type job and CME will NOT let you down. Thank you Marty! read more

Marty is great to work with. He had specific solutions in mind for my car (adding Carplay to an older 911), talked me through each one, and then did quality work on the install. He's proactive with communication, and I thought the pricing was fair. Would absolutely recommend and use again. read more

Years after my Escort Radar detector was professionally installed by CME, it suddenly stopped working. Marty expertly detected the culprit, a defect in the wiring harness. He was able to fix it despite its out-of-date, no longer available status, and in a short time. With good reason and this but one example of their superior service, Custom Mobile Electronics remains my go-to shop for all aftermarket electronics! read more

Porsche sold me a pre-owned car. The pioneer Apple Car player died in a month. They recommended Marty. I arrived, he diagnosed it. Gave me some options from low to high. I ended up putting the high option and adding a reverse camera. About 4 hours work he did on the spot to save me having to come back again. Great work and my wife will be happy as it is he car. Great skill and great guy. read more

Custom Mobile Electronics earned my highest possible recommendation. Marty and his installer went above and beyond replacing the communication management system (factory stereo) on my near classic Porsche. I now have bluetooth, Android Auto, reverse camera, and more. The quality of their work and attention to detail were exceptional. Highly recommended for anyone seeking the highest caliber auto electronic work! read more

CME initially did a good job of installing a new stereo and speakers. When my amp blew from water damage, they quickly took care of the problem by removing the damaged amp. When I called the shop shortly afterwards to schedule the installation of a new amp, I received no call back. The second time I called I reached them and was told I was on the list of jobs to be done. After a month or so passed, I left another message and never received a call. I would not return to CME. read more

Marty and Brian at CME are fantastic. I was referred to them by a reputable Porsche mechanic to replace the PCM on my 911. They were patient with my questions, responsive to my calls, and clearly knowledgeable about their product. After weighing a few considerations, they recommended a less expensive option relative to my initial consideration, and their work was done perfectly and ahead of schedule. I highly recommend them. read more

I'm a busy professional so I won't write a long review. That being said, I have very high expectations of the businesses with whom i deal and I cannot say enough good things about Marty and his company. Amazing, top-notch work, done on time and with the quality and level of perfection I was hoping for my precious Ferrari. This is the second of my cars he has worked on, and yet he again exceeded my expectations. I guess that explains why his company is the one the local Ferrari dealer sends it's clients to for custom installations. Thanks again Marty! read more

I drive a long way to have my cars worked on by Custom Mobile Electronics because it's worth it. Marty and his team produce superb results and provide the best service in the business. I just had my new car in for a state-of-the-art radar/lidar system installation and am thrilled with the beauty and (yeah, I'll say it) artistry of their work. Flawless electronics, beautiful ergonomic integration with the vehicle and great training as well. I also had them tint my front windows (using the best product on the market), with results that exceeded my expectations. I will always go out of my way to do business with these great people. read more

Marty came to my rescue yesterday and fixed (e.g. Removed and installed properly) the Valentine One radar detector install the "fools with tools" at Best Buy messed up the day before. I was able to get a same day appointment, the work took about 1.5 hours as estimated and the price was competitive. In hindsight, I should have gone straight to Marty, especially since I have a new BMW X1. The guys at Best Buy were totally clueless and incompetent given how computerized cars are today. In the future, my first and only call will be to Marty. Separately, Marty did a custom stereo install on an audiophile friends Porsche 10+ years ago that was perfect! He has been in the business for a long time and knows his way around cars. His work is so high caliber that's he's recommended by many local car dealers and does a lot of work on Ferrari's, Mercedes, BMWs and other luxury cars. I highly recommend Marty for all your car audio and radar detector work. You won't find a more knowledgeable or trustworthy person to work on your car!! Don't go anywhere else if you want the job done right!! read more

Marty handles all the business for all three Bay Area Mercedes-Benz dealerships. He helped me out by installing MidCity alarm and Street Eagle tracking system. Soon I'll also have him upgrade my audio system. Quite charismatic small business owner. read more

Marty designed a great system upgrade for my Porsche Cayman. I wanted to keep the stock look and functionality, but have audiophile quality sonics. He replaced all my speakers (with Blam) and added a Helix amplifier and most importantly (surprisingly) sound dampening. I could drone on...but read the reviews...believe them. read more

I am a repeat customer; six years ago, based on my Audi dealer's recommendation, Marty installed a back-up camera on my Audi A4c. A few months ago, I brought my new Jeep Wrangler JLU to upgrade the sound system, install an HD LTE dash cam and install a GMRS radio. When the global semiconductor shortage caused delays in getting some of the components, Marty kept me updated. When the parts arrived, he scheduled me right in. I consider myself a perfectionist, but Marty has me beat by a mile, with the highest imaginable standards. Inside his Novato installation facility, always clean and orderly, you will see some amazing exotic cars. Clearly people trust him with their rides. Whatever you need done, whether a small job like a back-up camera, or a big job, like installing an upgraded sound system, dash cam and two-way radio, if you want it done right, Marty Barry at Custom Mobile Electronics is the ONLY PLACE to go. read more

It's not often you find a true craftsman in this era of 'quick 'n dirty' ... especially when it coms to electronics for high-end cars. So it's my pleasure to acknowledge - and thank - Marty Barry at CME. Marty didn't just sell & install a few products and hand me the bill. He spent time talking with me about what I wanted and why, discussing the options, making informed suggestions, expertly installing the products, creatively solving problems as they arose, cleaning up the work of the less-skilled who had worked on the cars before him, and following up with me to make sure I was not only happy with the work, but knew the ins and outs of using them. As a result I'm not just a happy customer, I am thrilled customer! read more

I found Marty on Yelp and he is 100 % awesome. Upgraded my car stereo to a new system and Marty did it perfectly. So glad I found him and he really went out of the way for me. 10/10 would recommend ! read more

I had intended to write this review in May, 2019, but I forgot to do it. I am delighted to give 5 stars to Marty and Custom Mobile Electronics. This shop had been highly recommended to me for a custom V1 install, and I can now pass on that high recommendation. Marty was a pro all the way. His shop is impressive as there was a Porsche, a Ferrari, and a McLaren in there waiting to be worked on. The shop next door was a Ferrari garage. I've had custom V1 installs in my Porsche 911SC and Carrera4s, but my former installer had retired, and I wanted a V1 hard-wired in my BMW X3M. Finding Marty's shop was great. He was fast, professional, answered all my questions, and was truly a pleasure to see in action. I can give a 5-star recommendation to CME without hesitation or any reservations. This is my "go-to" place for custom electronic work on my cars. read more

All I have to say is Marty is The Man!! He installed my sub unit (mind you very low-end compared to what he's used to dealing with - when I dropped off my car there was a Ferrari and brand new 911 Turbo in his shop) at a very reasonable rate and my car sounds just the way I wanted it to! My sound system is in an '08 and was 'premier' as stock, but I felt it needed a sub to round out the low-end, and sure enough this unit does the trick perfectly! Workmanship looks great! Marty and his crew kept my car very clean, etc., and he was very prompt. Highly recommend! (Side note: something tells me Marty doesn't 'need' this review - when I went for my consoltation a few weeks ago his shop was packed with cars then as well as when I dropped off my car last Friday, so something tells me he's getting plenty of business via positive word of mouth and rightfully so, but if you do plan to have your car stereo work done by him, just be forewarned that he 'may' not be the type of shop that will wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am and take you on the spot - you'll likely have to do like I did and schedule a few weeks in advance.) read more

Marty Barry is great to work with - he helped me with two difficult issues that the Mercedes dealer couldn't and he saved me a lot of $$$ and I had a better solution. the first time a CD was jammed in the CD player and couldn't be extracted. the Mercedes dealer wanted $5,000 to replace the entire system and that was their only solution. Marty was able to get the unit re-built and the offending CD removed for at least one "zero" less than Mercedes wanted and I had a new CD player for thousands less. the issue was caused by the way Mercedes installs its entertainment units. at the same time I also wanted something that ws at least close to 2020 in technology and that could use it to access the music on my phone and other devices. Marty was able to find an elegant solution, costing less than $100 that upgraded the 2005 technology in my 2012 MB and allowed instant, automatic access to my own music. Marty is a straight shooter - no BS - just wants to help you solve/fix problems and make your day. I'll always go to CME first to get my mobile electronics issues addressed. read more

Got a wireless aftermarket Apple CarPlay interface installed in my 2015 Audi A3. Integrates rights with my stock media center and works great. You can hardly tell anything was installed. Marty was awesome. Had to book just over a week out but he told me everything that would be entailed up front, how long, details of the unit, etc. Very knowledgeable. He even gave me a quick tutorial when once I picked it up to make sure everything was working right. Pretty impressive. I'd definitely recommend them. Thanks, Marty! read more

I had a glitch in my Pioneer received that Marty installed a few months prior. When I called him, he pretty much dropped what he was doing to assist me. I purchased a 2015 BMW i3 from Hansel BMW in Santa Rosa. I wanted a backup camera installed by an authorized BMW dealer Because the camera had to integrate with the i3's elaborate system. I highly recommend Marty and Bryon over at CME for custom installations of any complicated electronics for today's modern cars. read more

I was referred to Marty from Franzini Bros. Both are awesome. I was a bit scared when I looked at all the high end cars he works on. My 91 Porsche Targa considered vintage now just needed an updated stereo that was updated sometime in the 80's with big rear speaker and huge amp that took up half the cargo. He cleaned it all up and also worked with Franzini Bros to rebuild the whole back deck. It now looks factory and sounds great! It's also Bluetooth and can be hands free in car. He covered up any past holes for all the 80's wiring and put everything tight and concealed. The best part is that he didn't try to up-sell me on anything and just let me know what they did and explained everything about them. He quoted me a price on whole install and take out and then came in under budget! Never really write a lot of reviews but this guy is definitely a 5 Star! Thanks Marty! And don't be afraid of all those Ferrari's he works on too! read more

I have known Marty since he installed cell phone mount and portable navigation mount in my Audi in the mid aughts. Great work then. Recently, I wanted to upgrade the audio in my '05 Jeep Rubicon. I started looking primarily for Bluetooth so we could stream music on a trip. Then I discovered that I could put in a 2DIN module with cameras. Marty looked at the Jeep and recommended a Pioneer which could support 2 cameras, Bluetooth and more. (Why 2 cameras? We off-road and think a low forward view would be good for spotting rocks/obstacles and when all you can see is sky looking over the hood.) The installation is great. He made camera mounts front and rear, and installed 2 USBs for CarPlay, plus of course the Pioneer itself. The rear camera had to be mounted on a swing-out tire carrier. Everything looks great and tidy. As always, Marty does great work tailored to the individual's needs and wants. read more

I had no idea where to start...2008 Truck in great shape, just missing some features like satellite radio, blue tooth and iPlay! Marty and his team took great care of me and we have already taken in the 2nd vehicle for an upgrade. What a great way to bring your older vehicle into this age of technology! Saves me from a new car and a car payment! Work was done on time as quoted and they did and exceptional job making sure the stereo fit in the dash like it was meant to be there. These guys bent over backwards to create the perfect subwoofer situation for my Maserati Quattroporte since the factory system has very little bass. They even worked in a hidden adjustment knob near my audio controls.
