Jonathon & James took great care of us! We needed a new HVAC system. Not knowing much, I was dreading the process: estimates to installation. The new cold weather heat pump technology has had my interest. I currently had oil forced air as our neighborhood didn't have natural gas. Jonathon (the owner) took the time to explain technology and process process. I settled on a hybrid, Trane heat pump with oil backup for heat. Heat pump for AC. The price was ok.Not the cheapest, but I wanted quality over saving a buck. TRANE is made in USA. He offered financing or a cash discount. Installation went with no problem. James took time to explain how it worked and the control board. 2 months later,after a very cold December, we're still very happy with the system. Yes, electric bill is higher but offset by virtually no oil. The only area of improvement might be the cost of the annual service agreement. Seems high. Custom Climates isn't on many people's mind for HVAC, but it should be. read more

Our central A/C unit failed late May and Custom Climates was one of several providers that were recommended thru our town's community FB page. They were prompt in coming out to to review the scope of work in preparation for the quote. After a week and a half passed we called to follow up in the quote. We were told that due to a medical emergency, the individual doing quotes had been hospitalized, but now back home and we would have a quote with in the week. Nothing happened after another week plus. We called an said we would have a quote by noon that day. Nothing. Called again and said we would have a quote by COB the following day. Again Nothing. The quote never came and we moved on. read more

Tom and Daryl were excellent listeners and worked with me to find the right unit, no matter what. They made me feel valued and answered all my questions without being condescending or pushy. We even had to wait to break ground on some related equipment, and there was no pressure from anyone on the staff. The install was super easy and I felt like all the techs involved knew what was up. Custom Climates installed a multi-zone Mitsubishi heat pump heating/cooling system for me last April. I was extremely clear that I wanted all the required permits and inspections to be completed. They were paid in full upon completing the heating installation . To be fair, It was mutually agreed that we could wait a few months to connect up the condensate drains, as they would only be needed for air conditioning. Thus giving me enough time to have my furnace and oil tank removed from the basement and out of the way. In late June, I discovered that no permits had even been pulled (neither mechanical or electrical). It took until late August for Custom Climates to acquire approved permits. They repeated told me that it was a lack of responsiveness from the City of Portsmouth. Nope. Untrue. I personally have pulled (applied and received approval) for several permits myself through the city's online portal. I have found it to be very easy. Again, they refused to go thru the proper channels (the online portal) to have final inspections (mechanical and electrical) scheduled, so that did not occur until early November. It FAILED the mechanical inspection, but one of CC's installers was able to make minor modifications to allow it to pass. It also FAILED the electrical inspection, for reasons that would require a more significant modifications. Specifically, not running wiring that are compliant with current National Electrical Code. Additionally, their electrician had decided to use a fuse (in my fuse box) that was not in accordance with the manufacturers specifications (which I would imagine voids my warrantee). The electrician made 3 separate appointments over the course of this drawn out install, was a MINIMUM of 3 hours late, all the while, texting to state he was "20 minutes away". Without any financial leverage, and losing all faith in CCs electrician, I finally cut ties with Custom Climates. I have hired my own electrician to make the required corrections. I have been informed by Custom Climates that they feel they have "met the obligations outlined in their contract". My contract reads...."All  work  will  be  done  in  a  timely,  professional  manner  and  in  compliance with  all  building  codes  and  other  applicable  laws.    Custom  Climates  HVAC, LLC  shall,  to  the  extent  required  by  law,  have  all  work  performed  by individuals  duly  licensed  and  authorized  by  law  to  perform  said  work." I am giving Custom Climates one star. They work hard, but not smart. There is a lot of communication but they lack attention to detail and net result is poor. read more

I had Custom Climates HVAC helped me spray foam my attic couple of years ago and spray foam the cathedral ceiling in my bedroom recently. They did a marvelous job! Not only did they gave me the most reasonable quotes, their staff are always very courteous and extremely professional. In both occasions, they showed up early and always cleaned up the site before leaving. The owner Jon suggested the most economical solution to the spray foam materials. One of his staff, Matt, is also an extremely nice guy. Custom Climates must be treating him well 'cause he is so enthusiastic about his job! At first I was worry about the smell from the foam in my bedroom because the attic does leave some smell when I go up there. I was surprised to find out that it didn't smell at all this time! I think it was because the attic was so enclosed that the smell had no place to go. It didn't bother me though because I only go up there for storage. I am extremely happy with the job they have done! I highly recommend their service to anyone looking to do spray foaming! read more

Custom Climates installed a Mitsubishi Split-Type Air Conditioner/Heat Pump on March 15, 2019. They returned my inquiry within an hour and came to my house a couple days later to inspect the site and prepared a quote immediately after reviewing the area of the installation. The reason I called Custom Climates was because I had 4 previous quotes that were all different in sizing, cost, efficiency and installation. Custom Climates was the most professional, courteous and knowledgeable of all the providers I dealt with. They did exactly what they said they would do and did it when they promised. They have obtained the position of "Diamond Elite" contractor with Mitsubishi and their performance - from first contact to final testing - showed me why they hold that premier status. And the unit works perfectly! I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone I know. read more

I called Custom Climates, Insul-Kings, and Anderson Insulation for spray foam quotes for my house in Dracut. Custom Climates was the least expensive ($6,300 vs Insul-King's $7,300 and Anderson's ridiculous $10,400), and it was clear from talking to Jon that he knew what he was talking about when it came to spray foam. This work was part of a second-floor renovation of my small, Cape-style house. Two 12' x 12' bedrooms, plus a hallway between them. We had closed cell foam sprayed along the entire roof, mostly so we could have conditioned storage space behind the knee walls and because we had a heating pipe there as well. The work was performed in September, and we definitely noticed the difference this winter. No ice dams, and significantly lower heating bills. Jon was also very accommodating in terms of scheduling and in terms of answering questions and getting some documentation for the building inspector. Their work passed inspection without any issues. His crew showed up on time, sealed the area to keep the rest of my house clean, and finished on time. I have no complaints, and I would definitely hire them again and recommend them to others. read more
