Jay Elston (Owner) came out to quote and see the job. I was doing all the prep work myself (properly) and he made some important suggestions that I had not thought off. He also came in with the highest quote (10 % higher) but we went with him anyhow because his quote was all inclusive. He sent over an experienced plumbing team (Kevin about 11 years exp) and his Journeyman's Assistant Christine (Current local plumbing student and intern). Kevin is super organized and very skilled. The job was broken into two parts as we had to get blue board and plaster done after tub/shower install and copper rough in. They came back today (8-26-23) and took care of everything. He has numerous years of experience and is very knowledgeable. We are long time customers of Sanford and should have called them right off. We believed the dishwasher installer should have made right on a problem they created. We are going to file a claim as the cost of the dishwasher is now over $2000. and it's not an expensive one. So when our washer standpipe started overflowing yet again, I called them out. This was the last time I will ever call them. They did send someone out (I didn't catch his name, he didn't introduce himself), but the 20 minute heads-up call that someone was on their way came as he was literally ringing our doorbell, I showed him down to the area where our main drain is located, he repeatedly asked about our bulkhead doors. Our bulk head is in ill-repair, so we don't use it, and don't really want to be liable for anyone else using it, so I said it was not accessible (he asked 3 more times after that). He asked when our last date of service was, I couldn't remember, it has been over 2 years, so he said he had to "ask his girl", so he trucks outside cell phone in his pocket to do so. I already had a bad feeling from all of the negativity being spewed at me, direct quote: "You guys are killing me." 5 minutes later he rings the door and states that due to a reoccurring knee injury, he can not perform the job, and he is apparently the only tech that works for the company, because he offered no other tech that would be available tomorrow, next day, etc, he did give me 2 names of "buddies" of his that may be able to do the job... Hmmm, to trust his recommendation... ?!? Apparently, they are not to worried about keeping repeat business.

Their fees are very fair -- a fixed hourly rate for the two guys that show up, plus parts. They do a good job. And, they are easy to get along with. I have had them service my radon removal system, fix random leaks, fix shower faucet, fix something that was going wrong with the pumping from the well, and rip out and replace all the pipes under the kitchen sink. When the well was malfunctioning, I was scared they'd have to replace the submersible well pump and charge a huge fee. They arrived prepared to do that, towing behind them a trailer with big spindle to wrap the pipe to the pump around. But, they had a look inside first and found two other things wrong that they promptly fixed, far cheaper than replacing the pump too. I was thrilled. They also make good recommendations for future work I may want to have done. And, they kindly leave some spare water filters behind at cost so I can replace those filters myself every 6 months.

After quickly assessing the damage, he presented me with two options: rebuild and reseal the current trap or outright replace it. Since the former was the cheaper option and had a pretty good chance of ameliorating the leak, I opted for the rebuild and reseal. Total price for the job: $140. All things considered, this business is very affordable and prompt. Their response time is ultimately what led me to elect them for my plumbing repairs. Best of all, they send updates via text to confirm your appointment date and how far out they are before arrival. I also appreciate the fact they're a NH based business. See?
