We ordered a 3-tiered, lightly frosted dulce de leche cake from Custom Cake Design for our wedding in DC a couple weeks ago. It was sooo declious!!! I was so thrilled to discover the top tier of our cake in hotel room following our wedding (placed there by our wedding coordinator). My husband and I want to order a smaller version of our wedding cake every anniversary - it was that good! Many months prior we did a cake tasting on site which was very helpful. There are so many cake, filling, and icing flavors to choose from. I sent a photo of the cake I wanted and it was replicated beautifully. Also, the pricing is very affordable. I would definitely recommend! read more

Tasty and pretty! The ladies at Custom Cake Designs helped me for my wedding by making 4 different types of cupcakes and they were a huge hit. Raquel was great ahead of time too with setting up a taste testing. The team was also a huge help by assembling cupcake wraps around all of the finished products for us. Delivered on time and everyone was a pleasure to work with. read more

We're so happy with the results of the birthday cake Custom Cake Design made for my daughter's 3rd birthday. We had a pool party and Jackie and her team did a great job with a pool themed cake. It looked very creative and festive. Taste was amazing!! I will be using them for my future cake orders!! read more

This place was one of the highlights of my wedding. I was planning my wedding from out of town and nervous that the cake wouldn't be exactly what I wanted simply because it would get "lost in translation" from the distance. I'm also exceptionally picky yet not exactly a cake expert so I can tell you what I don't like but maybe not exactly what I do. The owner was able to ask me some very pointed questions, send me pictures to say "yes" or "no" for specific elements. She ended up creating exactly what I wanted. Her experience in the industry is evident. More than that, she gave me an amazing price. It was the ONE thing in my wedding that came in under budget. The taste was great (Almond was exactly what I had in mind). The only frustration in the whole process was when I attended the open house. Expect that you will have to wait a while for a consultation and that the queue isn't precisely managed. I was more sensitive to that because I had flown from out of town for it. However, when I spoke up everyone quickly accommodated me. The owner was a pleasure to work with. I even saw her slip out after delivering my cake and she happily smiled and waved with her delivery guy (who I assume is her husband?). I could not have had a better experience! read more

I'll admit. The vegan cake was delicious and I was super excited about my wedding cake that I ordered back in October. Fast forward to late May and I get an email that they will not be able to deliver my cake because the venue is too far for them. 100 days before the wedding. REALLY? I provided the venue address TWICE. Before I scheduled the tasting with them, and again at the tasting when we decided to go with them and started designing our cake. Raquel insisted the location was fine BOTH TIMES. I'm highly disappointed. This is super unprofessional and unacceptable treatment. If you're ordering from here, you won't be disappointed by the cake, but maybe TRIPLE check your venue location since double checking is clearly not enough. The wedding cake shouldn't even be a thought at this point in the planning process, but now I have to backtrack and start from scratch. Sigh. Wish me luck. read more

High praise for Custom Cake Design!! Delicious cupcakes and stellar customer service (THANK YOU, JACKIE). We recently used CCD for our wedding dessert and everyone raved. The cupcakes looked terrific -- hot pink flutes and sugar flowers to match our accent color -- and tasted even better. Jackie was helpful, responsive and organized throughout. Our tasting was a lot of fun and the pairings of icing flavors with cake flavors were a hit. I can't say enough about Custom Cake Design. Delicious product, good price point, excellent service -- thank you! read more

Custom Cake Design made the most exquisite wedding cake for my daughter's wedding. It was a beautiful rustic design with flowers cascading down the side. Everyone at the wedding raved at how moist and delicious the cake tasted. The price was extremely reasonable. I have never tasted any cake so delicious. I will order all my cakes from them in the future!! A+++ They had at least 30 flavors to choose from as well. Thank you Custom Cakes for making the day memorable! read more

Amazing job with my wedding cake! For 75 servings, the cake was huge. So many flavors to choose from, it was hard to make a decision that would please everyone. Very happy with the flavor choices we made. I was surprised how responsive the place is. I had a lot of questions regarding my wedding cake after I placed the order months in advance. My husband and I were very please with their work. read more

They did my wedding cake five years ago. It was beautiful and exceptionally delicious.

I ordered 2 dozen "breakfast" themed cookies for my son's 1st birthday party. The ordering process was easy and the cookies looked GREAT, but they were hard as rocks and had no flavor. I was actually kind of embarrassed that I had given them to the guests as favors/thank you gifts. They were horrible :(. read more

This is the second time I've used Custom Cake Design -- and it was jsut as easy and successful this time as well. When you consider I did the arrangements long distance from New York and they got every detail exactly right and delivered at the perfect time, I'd say they rate 5 Stars. Last time was 5 years ago, and I sent a photo of my mom which they reproduced -- in 3-D and full color -- on a splendid cake. This time, all I needed was writing and flowers, and they interpreted my wishes perfectly as well. It was a relief to be able to trust a company when you can't stop in and visit in person. I recommend Custom Cake Design heartily! read more

Custom Cake Design is amazing!!!!! I found them on yelp and saw all of the great reviews do I decided to use them for my best friend's bridal shower cake. I found a picture of a beautiful stiletto sandal on Pinterest, sent the picture and asked if it can be replicated. The owner said yes we can but I didn't realize it would taste just as amazing as it looked!!!! I believe the replica of the cake I found turned out to be greater than I hoped for!!!!! It was raved about in the bakery after it was made and it was more raved about after everyone ate it at the bridal shower!!!! I will definitely be using Custom Cake Design for ALL of my special occasion cakes from now on!!!! read more

This was my first dealings with Custom Cakes. I checked out a lot of reviews on Yelp and decided to give them a shot. I did ask Raquel about the one review about the poor bride who got the wrong cake. She explained that she was not the owner when this happened and tried to clean up the mess but could only do so much damage control. Raquel made a cake for a special celebration in the office. Wow! Everyone in the office was amazed and loved not only how the cake looked but how delicious it was. We will definitely be using Custom Cakes in the future. read more

My first cake from Custom Cake Design was over 3 years ago. They made my grandsons birthday cake. It was exactly what we wanted! It was definitely the hit of the party. It was just incredibly decorated, as well as incredible tasting. Since that first experience, I'm hooked. I have been back for bridal shower cakes, baby shower cakes, and plenty more birthday cakes. I have also ordered cake pops for classroom parties---that was a huge hit! The owner and employees go above and beyond to insure each and every cake is exactly what the customer wants. I know because I have referred many friends, and they too have been ecstatic. I'm happy to have found my favorite bakery read more

I loved our wedding cake!!! We had a very different type of wedding it was a somewhat fall/Halloween theme. Our cake way a topsy turvy style cake with orange and black stripes, and a pumpkin on top! The cake was everything I had pictured and more! It looked and tasted awesome! Everyone loved it! I am so glad I found Custom Cake Design! read more

I had tried the vanilla wedding cake at my sisters wedding. This was the driest piece of cake I had ever had. Food Lion could make a better tasting wedding cake than this. I have definitely have had better. Sorry, your wedding cakes are not that great. More like low end grocery store quality. I was not at all impressed. read more

My wife and I selected Custom Cake Design for our wedding recently and they were great! We are able to give insight into the planning, staff, and the food the day of our event. When we were reviewing vendors, we selected Custom Cake Design after scheduling a free tasting with Raquel (the owner). She let us taste an assortment of cake flavors as well as filling. They were awesome, we could make up our minds so we selected 3 types of cakes as well as macaroons for 180 people. Throughout the planning up to our wedding, we were able to give pictures and describe what we wanted as well as coordinate with the florists for flowers for the cake. Raquel was very polite and professional throughout the year we met with her. The day of our wedding, the cake was beautiful and bigger than we expected. The only drawback we would have is that the staff answering the phone gave us issues but Raquel's service makes up for it. read more

I ordered cake, cupcakes and cookies from Custom Cake Design for a Kate Spade themed bridal shower and it was gorgeous! Everyone was complementing how beautiful it was and few people been asking me for contact info for the bakery. I am so happy and grateful for the work they did; I showed them picture and ask to recreate it and it turned out perfect. read more

2 stars for the design. I ordered a cake for my daughter's baptismal. No doubt the design was impressive, but the taste of the cake itself? It tasted like a dry, plain pound cake, no frosting , no layers, just a block of white cake. If layer frosting was an additional charge, i really hoped that it was discussed or suggested due to the thickness of the cake. Without a doubt i would gladly pay for extra. I spent $140 for a mid size sheet of cake, only 2 slices were eaten, I was planning to use the leftovers into pop cakes, but time didnt permit me. The rest of the barely touched cake was thrown to trash. Waste of money. The guests preferred the other cake. I am looking for a first bday cake this time, not coming back here. Sorry. read more

I loved working with Raquel and she created the most beautiful cake that I have ever seen. When we went into her shop to talk with her initially, she actually had a sample of the cake we would be purchasing for us to taste. The cake had to be dairy free for my son and I worried a little, but Raquel was true to her word and created a cake that my son could eat for his engagement party. I will definitely recommend this to all my friends and I now have a bakery that I can trust for future parties!! read more

Perfection! A three-tiered cake/extravaganza for my daughter's special day. Moist. Beautiful. And, a fair price! Thank you!

I have a Birthday Celebration for my Dad on March 11, 2016. I requested 18 mini cakes. They came in 3 flavors and they were decorated the way I wanted. They were also delivered to the venue. They were absolutely fabulous. Everybody at the venue asked me where I got them from. All my guests thought they were just Delish! Thank you so much! read more

Nothing but good experiences here. Have gone to them for photo cakes many times. They're reasonable, quick and the cakes are delicious.

CCD recently made a smash cake for my daughter's 1st birthday. It was beautiful. Exactly the cute owl design we were looking for based on our discussion with CCD. We selected Chocolate Raspberry for the smash cake and matching strawberry cupcakes with a cream cheese frosting. The cake and cupcakes were phenomenal. Even our photographer was very impressed with the moist and delicious cake. Typically beautiful wedding / photo cakes are horrible tasting but this blew away my expectations. Absolutely delectable! I would highly recommend CCD for special events, weddings, birthday parties, etc. I will be ordering again! read more

What a find! This is great little bakery. The case is so full of goodies that I wanted to take more home than I could handle. My girlfriend and I had breakfast in Renata's and she said that the quiche was the best she have ever tasted. It is a small place but big on flavor. Everything is made fresh every day and if your tired of the "usual breakfast fare" pancakes, waffles, fried eggs, etc. try Renata's for a real treat. read more

Run, don't walk to Custom Cake Design! They made us a very special custom cake, was only $40, and was absolutely delicious and moist! The staff was beyond friendly, very helpful, and the cake was beautiful and amazing (did I already say delicious)! :) THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I orderd a Baby Shower Cake for my sister's baby shower. AlI correspondences with Raquel were done via telephone and email since I live in New York and the shower was taking place in Maryland. I explained to Raquel what flavor cake I wanted as well as the filling and design of the cake and what I asked for is exactly what I received when I picked up the cake. The cake was beautifully decorated as well. Raquel even allowed my sister to come in for a cake tasting prior to ordering the cake. Needless to say, the cake was so moist and the raspberry filling.....yum! Everyone at the shower enjoyed the cake and my sister and I could not stop eating the cake. If I lived in Maryland, I would definately order another cake from Raquel and the satff at Custom Cake Design. Job well done! read more
