I gave this shop great review even though I had to take it back twice for problem with my fuel pumps on my 3500 dodge diesel that they installed,but now im stuck in ithaca mich on my way up north because again im spraying fuel all over the road ,fuel all over the driveway that i had to scrub clean twice and not to forget 25 bucks in diesel fuel all over the gas station grounds ,this is not a shop for diesels I've learned. I have no idea why anyone would give this place less than 5 stars. We started working with Curts back in 2011. They serviced our trucks and vans for my husband's Pest Control company. They were always so efficient and fair. Fast forward to about 2021 the Maintenance company I run decided to add some trucks on the road. We started working with them again as needed and they are still always fair and always quick. No they are not the cheapest but time is valuable. Brought one of our trucks in for a busted exhaust pipe yesterday and they had it done the same day. You don't see that at mechanic shops. I highly recommend them. I was a new customer. I had my car towed in, but had never actually been there myself. The next morning I got a text message with their diagnosis, planned repair, and a few options to choose from. For example, I had 2 tires that needed to be replaced urgently and the other 2 could probably wait a few months. The web form let me choose to approve just the 2, or all 4. The prices quotes included total charges for things like valve seems, balancing, and waste tire disposal. I approved all 4, plus replacing the spare tire hoist which was so rusted the spare tire was stuck in place. Since I knew the spare was 14 years old, I was concerned about tire rot, what I could see of the spare wheel was coated in rust. So I authorized replacing the hoist, spare tire, and the wheel as well. Near the end of the day they told me they'd been able to fix the tire hoist, got the old spare off and cleaned it up. And both the tire and wheel looked in good shape. By then they had already received the new spare tire and wheel, and give me the choice of replacing it anyway, just because the old ones were so old. I declined, and ended up spending less than I'd anticipated. The car drives well, the new tires look good, and I happy with the price. I am especially pleased with their web-based system that could show me what they found, and give me a few options for fixing them. It even had a built-in messaging system, so they and I could type questions back and forth. That was MICH more convenient that a phone call. The icing on the cake! They have little lock boxes for keys. So even though I couldn't get there during business hours, they were able to leave my keys behind a combination lock box pictures here. read more

Check Engine Light on a 2014 Kia Soul. They diagnosed misfire on cylinder 1. and double checked spark plug and coil. Engine check and replacement cost $560. Ouch, but I believe they are honest, and didn't push extra services. I'll go back but will be wary, as my last garage was no longer trustworthy. Sorry to say that's the state of affairs. read more

Zero stars! I took my 2006 Monte Carlo into Curt's back in the summer of 2019 and allowed them to perform in excess of $3,500 worth of work, including installing a "new" alternator, as well as an oil-pan gasket and lower manifold gasket, respectively. Well, when winter came, I was still having trouble starting the car, so I went and got a new Die-Hard battery installed. Well, now, LESS THAN 8,000 MILES LATER, I find that the alternator they installed was not new, but rebuilt, and was bad and needs to be replaced yet again. On top of that, my car is leaking oil even worse than before I took it to them, and come to find out, I never needed a new lower manifold gasket or oil pan gasket after all, but rather a new rear-main seal and timing-chain cover. Of course, my warranty was only for 2 years / 20,000 miles. It's been 3 years but less than 8,000 miles. What a rip-off! read more

These guys deserve WAY more than 3.5 stars. They are 5 stars all the way. I have my Maserati serviced here for brakes and they did an incredible job. If you have a high end car, this is the place to go. The guys up front were very professional from the first phone call right through handing me my keys. The waiting room is the cleanest and nicest of any automotive repair shop I've ever set foot in. Everything about this place is immaculate! Even the garage itself. "Overpriced and Slow turn-around" I drive an American 4-cylinder Sedan. I took my car to Curt's to get some work done (they came HIGHLY recommended). However, after Paying the TAB & driving away.. it couldn't shake the feeling that i just got Ripped Off. On a Hunch, i took my car over to a local Belle Tire (Madison Heights, 12 & Dequindre) and had them give me a Blind Quote for the Same Work. I believe The Numbers speak for themselves: Replace Fuel Pump (Labor): Curts: $157 Bell Tire: $84 Four Wheel Alignment (Labor): Curts: $129. Bell Tire: $74.90 Replace Front Upper Ball Joint & Control Arm (Labor): Curts: $263 Bell Tire: $60 for the ball joint (i had seen enough at this point; didn't bother asking about the control arm.) Level 3 Engine Diagnostic (ie: troubleshoot the problem): Curts: $189. (Fyi: NOT PRO-RATED; Even if you agree to let them do the repairs). Initial Thoughts: These guys are CRAZY Expensive. These guys are also S L O W: I dropped off my Car Thursday (11am). They called later, gave me the diagnosis, and said the job would be done by Friday. The Reality: My car wasn't ready until the following Monday @ 4:45pm. The One Positive: It appears that their "Level 3 Engine Diagnostic" correctly identified my fuel-pump as the source of my issue. My car now starts quickly; So at least the Quality of Work performed by Curt's technicians was Satisfactory. FINAL VERDICT: i will NOT be returning to Curt's; NOR will i recommend them to any of my friends. It should be noted, however, my Decision is NOT due to their Pricey, Hourly Rate. My Primary Reason for the 2-Star review is their "Level 3 Engine Diagnostic". This "$189 diagnostic fee" is Non-Refundable. Curt's does Not Pro-Rate the cost of the Diagnosis; even after you agree to let them make the repairs. I found their policy on this matter to be...... G r e e d y. I understand TIME is MONEY... but even your typical DEALER will pro-Rate the Diagnosis Fee if you let them do the work. Not the Case at this Establishment. Was on a cross country road trip with a Mercedes Sprinter Van that I just bought from a bankruptcy auction. It was showing a engine light and was running rough. I called ahead and asked if they could squeeze me in to have a look as I still had many thousand miles to drive and only a few days to do it in. I dropped the car off and before I got back from grabbing a bit to eat down the road they called and said the car was ready to go. They pulled all the engine codes and reset the computer. I stopped at Curt's and explained that the controls on the steering wheel of my 2014 Sonic were no longer controlling the Bluetooth or radio, and I asked if they could fix it. Joe said that he was "98.3% sure" that they could. So, I made arrangements to drop it off the next day. Well, I should probably play the lottery, because I'm apparently that 1.7% oddity. Joe called and said that they'd have to run the diagnostics and that it would be $200. He made it sound like that would fix it when software was uploaded. Since I believed that it would be fine after that, I agreed. He said not to worry & that the car would be ready later in the day. He then called back and said that the radio was bad (the car is only 3 years old!) and a new one would be $900 -- $1100 altogether! I said no to that, so he said he'd put everything back together within the hour. When I got there, I was then presented with a bill for $200.04. I told him and the young woman who checked me out that I was very disappointed that I was being asked to pay $200 to have the car exactly the same as when I brought it in. Joe then showed me a stack of papers and said that those were the diagnostics and it took a lot of time to run them. Now granted, I don't know anything about running such things, but it seems to me that if it's a computer, you set it, go do something else while it runs, and then come back to it. At least they gave me a copy of it. The other odd thing was that they never asked m to sign anything when I brought the car in, but when I picked it up, the CASHIER signed the agreement about what *I* agreed to. I pointed that out to them as well, and they said that that's just how they do it. So, in essence, I only gave verbal approval for what I thought was going to fix the car, without ANY explanation that I would still be charged if it didn't work. UPDATE: Curt texted me (at 7:30 am!) after reading my Yelp review and asked me to come by and see him. I went after work and we talked for 45 minutes about what he did, what his staff did, the errors that were made, the misunderstandings, etc. He truly cared about making me understand his position but also took responsibility for things that went wrong and the fact that the car appeared exactly the same when I picked up, despite the amount of time he and his mechanic spent on it. I pointed out the facts that 1) I was never given an estimate; 2) I was led to believe that it would be fixed; 3) The cashier signed the agreement that is usually what is given to the customer to sign. Curt wanted to make it right and even said he'd refund the entire amount, if that was what I wanted. After his explanation, while I was still unhappy with the result, I felt that he should receive something for his time and effort, but that I deserved some compensation as well. Therefore, we decided on a 50% refund. I would not dissuade anyone from going to Curt's at this point, but I would also advise that you make sure you get an estimate in writing, a clear explanation of what that will cover, and what the possibilities may be (as far as they can guess) if their first estimation of the problem is incorrect. read more

Ever since Covid it seems more difficult than ever finding good workers and well run businesses. Curt's Service is that exception. Everything was straight forward, the shop was well staffed and the owner's obvious pride in upkeep is welcoming. I was lucky enough this time that the work came in under estimate. "Little" things like a free ride home after a drop off go far for me as I live alone. My last shop out and refused and their "waiting room" was a row of chairs in the same room as the office, write up counter and cashier. Phenomenal service! I brought my car here for a very strange power steering issue. I took it to 2 other shops including the dealer and none of them could fix it. These guys got it taken care of an had amazing communication. They take pictures of your vehicle and report any problems found during their through inspection. They only recommend extra service in your car, they did not try to rack up my bill or sell me stuff I didn't want. They were very respectful and I do not understand why this place only has 3.5 stars. I paid $ 106 for checking my car . Next day they called me and told me that needs only water pump and gas kit. . 2 weeks later car was not working properly . When I took it to their shop to ask them about what happened now . This time he asked me $150 for checking . 2 days later they told me that it needs head gasket which he didn't told me on the first time checking the car . I am still unsatisfied with their work . No one likes the dashboard warning lights flashing in their car, unless it's a friendly Japanese smiley face to tell you everything is good. As far as I know, this is not a standard gauge in North America. Imagine how comforting it might be if your car could give you a friendly sign everything is a-okay? An ongoing adventure with low tire pressure sent me into Curt's Service, in part due to its proximity to home. I knew I had a slow leak somewhere and adding daily air servicing to my already hectic routine was simply a no-go. No one enjoys the prospect of a $600 fix, especially when you have an all-wheel drive vehicle and just sticking two tires on isn't a possibility. Enter a last minute appointment at Curt's for a checkover of my tires to find out whether a nail fatally punctured them or it was simply a byproduct of all the terrible road conditions I drive through on my way to work. A friendly technician listened while I explained what happened, then hoisted the vehicle up to have a closer look. I waited in the spotless guest lobby, thankful for the quiet volume and bright sunshine. Special note, someone here was thinking about families because they have children's colouring books and crayons to take home in addition to magazines, newspapers, and other essential diversions from a possibly substantial repair bill. I don't recall whether coffee and tea were provided. Staff, however, regularly checked in to be sure I wasn't forgotten. The news didn't take long to arrive, and for me, the diagnosis was pretty good: I indeed rolled over a screw, and the tech could patch up the hole lickety split. Cue one long sigh of relief. It wasn't an expensive repair by any means, and the patch job holds up several months later with a minimum of fuss. All in all, the process took about an hour and the shop was full to the brim during that time. I knew going in they would take a bit longer than usual and the service throughout was excellent. Given Curt's is one of the suppliers for Tire Rack, I'll probably use them when it comes time to replace my wheels. read more

I took my 1967 Mustang to Curt's, again, since they have done excellent work in the past. Although I ended up having more done than I originally had in mind, I feel is if I'm driving a brand new car again. Things deteriorate slowly and you done notice them going bad. They did a thorough check and "fixed" a lot of things that needed to be looked. I don't feel they went "fishing", but that inspected the car and let me know what they suggested be done, but my option to do so. At the end I was asked if I wanted the car "detailed". I said no, since I felt I was already putting a lot of money on the table, but my wife said she'd pay for it for "Father's Day", I must say the results are much better than I ever expected. Even our son, who is fanatical about clean vehicles, was taken aback when I pulled into his driveway. He must have circled the car three times taking in the scene. I won't call out specific names names only because I don't want miss anyone. So, thanks to the crew at at Curt's's for a job well done!. You'll be seeing me again. read more

I had purchased two new tires from Wal-Mart and needed someone to install them along with two new lug nuts on my 2002 Ford Explorer. Curt picked up the phone when I called to make an appointment, got me in the same day, and was reasonably priced $55.54 to complete the job. 1st off they were the only local service place I could find to work on a hybrid transmission. They then called me to tell me it was not the transmission. I could have easily said it wasn't taken me for a lot of money but didn't. It turned out to be a cable that needed to be replaced and would be fairly time intensive but half the price of what a transmission would be. I received an excellent online review of all current issues with the vehicle, what should be replaced, what could wait, and what was fine. I then went to pick up the car and it turned out to be half of what they had qouted me. Everybody working there was super friendly and helpful, the customer service area is very clean, and I will be taking all of my vehicles here from now on. read more

Talked with the So called GM and he was suppose to let me know if they would restore some on if money, but he's been dodging my calls. I brought my Prius in because it wouldn't start without jumping--I assumed it had something to do with the battery. However, upon testing the battery, the hybrid specialist said it was perfectly fine, and that what he believed to be the bigger issue was covered under warranty. So he sent me to the dealership (after charging a standard $125 diagnostic fee). Turns out, the issue was not covered under warranty, but it didn't matter because the first thing they did at the dealership was test the battery... and it FAILED immediately! The dealership installed a new battery, and my car is now running perfectly. While I do appreciate the friendly service at Curt's and their good intentions in sending me to the dealership in an effort to save me money, I simply can't give this company more than two stars because their testing equipment was horribly inaccurate. The error cost me the diagnostic fee, plus 5 days over a holiday weekend without my car... all for just a really simple fix. read more

I dropped off a set of wheels to have the tires mounted on, the day before expected tire delivery. Less than 24 hours later I was picking them up. I can't say enough good things about Curt's. I have brought three different vehicles here over the past 3 years and have always driven away satisfied. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and always will call to keep you updated. As far as the service goes I experienced a really quick turnaround on my recent visit. I had my alternator go on my Toyota and I was able to drop it off right after it went out and I had my car back at the same time the next day. I took my car there because I had a free oil change. It was not my intention to wait over an hour for it to be done. When I asked why it was taking so long they came back and asked me if I knew that my automatic starter wasn't working? I told them I was there for an oil change and not for them to check anything else that did not apply to that. When I proceeded to show them that IT DID IN FACT WORK, one of their employees was trying to tell me about it and also told me to RELAX. Worst auto repair I've ever been to. Over priced. Rude. Ignorant. First off I brought two different cars there I gave them a chance to redeem themselves. I brought a vw beetle to them after I had a warning light turn on saying it would overheat they told me I needed a new air filter and oil change and the light was a false warning. So I paid them almost 300 for those services took it home 3 days later since I was not first in line and it caught fire the next day I only drove 6 miles. Then I took it some where else and the cars parts all were melted. I went back and got a refund of some of my money then recently my boyfriends jeep Cherokee was having a similar issue and curts was the only place he was near to drop it at for repair and curts charged almost 2k for a part to be changed out and then told him it was okay to drive. Next day I get a phone call at 4 am my boyfriends car is on fire in a subway parking lot. We go back to curts with it demand money back or them to actually fix it they tell us it was never even broken in the first place and he would have to pay them even more money to fix it this time. It had only been 7 hours after he picked it up from them he drove 2 miles. Worst auto place ever a plumber could fix my car better then those Guys. Not to mention they talk to women like we are too stupid to understand anything about a car. 3 different men in that place talked down to me until I brought my father a mechanic in with me and I have proof thru voicemails and witnesses of all things mentioned trust me if u love your car like I did mine don't go here. Also if the owner wants to pretend none of this happened I have proof and voicemails with the staff being as horrid as I explained maybe before u pretend u know anything about the issue u should make sure they don't have video and audio proof read more

I'm not happy with the service my car received, and I don't think I'm judging harshly at all. Curt's did not fix the problem I took it in for, just diagnosed a bunch of other things they found wrong. I don't like the 3-tier diagnostic/payment system to find the underlying issues, with each higher tier taking a more in-depth look, costing more in turn. After sending out a part to be re-built, two weeks later, and at over $800, the problem I took it in for is still not fixed, and I don't want to nor feel I should pay more just for them to take a "closer look" so they could just begin to guess at what could be wrong. The diagnostic/inspection fees should at least be applied to the repair costs if you agree for them to do it. I feel kind of cheated. read more
