I had my car towed here on December 22,2021 to see why the battery kept dying after it was replaced with a new one the day prior from autozone, told them I thought it could be the alternator. They called me the next day; said that I did in fact need an alternator. I had them replace the alternator and picked it up without a problem. That was $500. Not the mention the $80 it took to tow it there. The very next morning- my car isn't starting at all and it's Christmas Eve so everything is closed until the following week. That left me without a car over the holiday period. In the meantime; I had to go back to auto zone to purchase a portable jump starter just to get it up and going until I was able to bring it back to them. I called them and told them that my car isnt keeping a charge long enough to start and it's been a consistent thing since picking it up from them. Dustin seemed confused and told me when I brought it back that I could very well need another new battery. At this point-I'm pissed. I left it there to go to work and then they call me the next day saying that I have a parasitic draw from 2 fuses that is draining my battery and it's not work that they do-so I would have to take it to the dealership. THIS let me know that they just took a guess and assumed it was the alternator oppose to doing a diagnostic before replacing the alternator the first time. I am out of $500+ , while still having to jump start my car until I can take it to a service appointment at the dealership. This has all been a waste of time and money. And also needed a jumpstart from them to get it out of their lot. read more

I was very pleased with their work, professionalism, and friendliness. They were quick to find the problem the first time, and it was fixed sooner than they said it would be. Something did come up after their initial fix that was related, but I brought it back in and they resolved it at no additional charge. I'm happy to have finally found a mechanic that does it right. read more

******BEWARE LADIES*********todayI spoke with Troy ( I assume the owner) and he said to bring it in and they would look at it so I got there at 10:58 and they started to look at it around 12:15 and casey sad that I needed more than the air conditioning charged so I asked how much and can I get it fixed today and he said they didn't know if they could get all the parts or fix it today and then called Troy in. So Troy continued to look up parts and wanted to explain what was wrong and what parts I needed and I told him what he was telling me wouldn't understand as I don't know cars/car parts so I just said how much and can you fix it today so Troy then told me to take my car and leave!!!!!**********BEWARE******* unless you understand car parts because if you don't listen you can leave!!!! This is zero stars but they make you pick one just to be able to post your review!!!!!!!!!!! ps- I forgot to add on May 26th of 2016 at 9:00 am I called here and spoke with Casey and asked how late they were open and he said 5:00 and said as long as I get it here by 3:00 they could look at it and check the air conditioning which I did and all the guys were eating in the one garage and then tells me they cant look at it today after I got it there by 3:00 like he said......BAD EXPERIENCE MOVE ON**** I have never been treated like this when just trying to get a total and get my car fixed not a story!!!!!!!******************************** #gosomewhereelse read more

I went here for a pre-purchase inspection on a car I was considering. (Consumer Reports recommends getting any used car inspected before buying). I was at a dealership in Southfield and when I called Gary's and asked if they could do the inspection in the next 5-10 minutes, they happily obliged. I am SO glad I found this place. From my initial call to the end of the inspection, Gary and Troy were friendly, thorough, honest and knowledgeable. They asked how the car felt when I drove it to their shop, then Troy walked around the car with me, explaining any dings/scratches and which ones I should be concerned about. He also walked me under the car while it was hoisted to show the rust damage that ultimately helped me decide to pass on the car. At the end of the inspection while I was paying (it was about $80), Gary even gave me negotiating tips for when I went back to the dealership. I would HIGHLY recommend this place! read more

I started taking my Car here when I had an electrical fire in June of '15. Since then, I only return here. They are extremely courteous, offering me a ride to and from work. They are also fast with repairs and fairly priced. I have had a lot of negative experiences with other Mechanics, they are refreshingly professional, honest, and ethical. read more

I had to stop in at Gary's Auto Tech in a pinch when a pipe shield on the underside of my car came loose as I was driving down the highway. Not only was the staff very courteous... They managed to not only take care of my small repair job (in the midst of being backed up with flood repairs!) quickly, but also make additional minor -but essential- repairs. They even took the time to thoroughly explain- and show me!-each repair/area of concern before sending me on my way after paying a more than reasonable price. My overall impression is that these guys are honest in their assessment, fair in their pricing, and take pride in doing their job well. I highly recommend this shop. read more

I was having a gas leak with my car whenever I would fill it up, and due to a bad experience with a past mechanic I decided to go to Gary's Autotech based off of a good review. When I made the initial call to tell them about my issue and ask when they're open and what not, I was greeted with such friendliness that it left me with a great first impression. Later that same day (on a Friday), I took my car in to drop it off and I was telling them the issue with my car. The mechanic pulled out a toy car (yes, it was awesome) and asked me countless questions about the issue, "How much is leaking? Where is the leak? Does the leak stop when you're done filling it up? How long has this been happening?" and so on. It made me feel very good about the work they were about to do because they asked so many questions about the issue to gather as much info they needed. During that weekend they kept me in the loop of things explaining everything to me clearly and to someone who clearly is not a mechanic(me). Everything made sense and I felt comfortable the whole time. They told me that the part I needed for my car was difficult to find in good shape (it's a pretty rare car apparently, 2003 Suzuki Aerio), so they told me they would have to make the part themselves. Before doing any work, they told me they would first do all the research required to get a final estimate. They called me on Tuesday morning (3 days after dropping it off, it was a weekend however and I'm including non-work days), and gave me the estimate. It was very reasonably priced and I was more than willing to pay the cost. They told me they would have the car done by Wednesday (the next day), and I was okay with that. A few hours later, they called me with good news...that they're ahead of schedule and that they'll actually finish within an hour and a half. Unable to make it before closing, I told them that I would pick it up in the morning. But get this...they offered to pick my up from work if I needed a ride and that it was no issue. I didn't need a ride but the fact that they offered me a ride in case I needed it was awesome. The next morning I walked over to the shop to pick up my vehicle. I walked into the door and the mechanic remembered my name from when I dropped my car off (I dropped it off Friday and it was Wednesday at this time). He gave me a whole summary of everything they did for my car. After paying the cost, I simply said, "Thank you." and he responds and says, "Oh, I'm not the one who worked on the car, he (I forget his name...sorry) was the one who fixed up your car. He's a great man and he did a great job, we left you in good hands with him." The amount of honor and respect they give to others there is amazing and not only was I given some of the best customer service I had ever received but I was able to see the respect that they have for each other. I will be going back for any mechanical needs and I was a happy camper based off of the service. Definitely go to Gary's Autotech. read more
