The food wasn't spicy at all, but it was still flavorful thanks to the other spices--though it could have been better. The Death by Tikka Masala was very plain and not as good as it could be. I tried their popular mocktail, the Salt & Sag, and honestly, it was horrible. I'm not a fan of sweet and salty drinks mixed together, especially since it didn't pair well with the food. The whiskey was decent and served with a cap to capture the smoke, which was a nice touch. Service was somewhat slow, and no one really checked in on us. They also use self-service ordering. Why does this place have such a low rating? The food and ambience were amazing! Went on a rainy Sunday afternoon for brunch and the tall windows overlooking the rains made for a perfect atmosphere. Husband got the Kathi roll with paneer filling. It came with a spicy pico and frauds. He said it tasted great and would gladly eat it again. I got the paneer shammi kebab. Its a good low carb dish which came out on a sizzling platter. There were about 4 pieces of melt in your mouth paneer covered by the same pico. This dish was a bit spicy but the paneer was so tender. We also got vada pav for takeout and we'll tasted like the ones we get in Mumbai. You can really tell how excited I was about the food here:) Its going to be in my fav list for sure. read more

I don't understand why reviews are so low in my opinion , I am very picky with my Indian food palate and the flavor here is not rudimentary , there is depth without the overwhelming of aromatics or whole spices , food was hot and ready to demolish haha and not overtly spicy. I would say just as good as some of my close friend's home cooked versions of these dishes . The restaurant itself is a nice base building that has apartments and overhead tenants above it, overall really good and open late I'd come back just for the consistency to their flavor profiles compared to other Indian cuisine eateries I've been to before . I ordered the American Punjabi thali and it was really good except the onion seed naan that was slightly undercooked around the edges. Other than that everything was on point, great packaging and overall quality. The portion was generous and the pav was perfectly soft with a bit of crisp. The bhaji was especially amazing. I also tried the cauliflower rice which was okay. Many places don't consistently maintain their standards but this spot seems to live up to the expectations. I really want to give them a lower amount of stars based on how little I care about the food but the place doesn't deserve a bad rating. The main issue is that the food just isn't that great and I'd only come for the pani puri. Everything else is small in size and not worth it. Really, the only shining star is the mortar and pestle bar that is connected to this restaurant. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, pani puri, and samosas. They need to offer fries or something more filling than those fried crisps. Also the vibe of the bar and the restaurant just don't mesh well. I won't be coming back for the food. We always have a great time eating here and are able to try a fusion of indian food mixed with some traditional dishes. The Pani Puri was a fun street food dish to try, as the novelty of cracking up the sphere, dropping in the mash, and pouring the tarmarind water in made an enjoyable experience in eating. We also tried the Tandoori fried chicken sandwich in extra extra hot! This take on a Nashville hot chicken sandwich was quite delectable. The fryums went well with it! To round it out, the Deconstructed Samosa was quite tasty and different way of having the traditional samosa, and the Naughty Naan was a flavor and spicy pizza that filled us up. The service was prompt and helpful in deciding on what next to eat. The seating is a bit awkwardly shaped between a mix of casual standard tables and lower couch-type seating, but it works. There's always more food items to try, and hitting up the burritos next would be our top choice. read more

Went to Curry Up Now with some coworkers on a Wednesday around 4:30pm. It was not too busy and we just so happened to be there for happy hour which is from 4-6pm. Cocktails were $9 so we ordered the mango sangria and the spicy margarita. Starters/snacks were buy one get one free so we ordered 2 bun samosa, one guac and chips, and one fried ravioli. Then we ordered the naughty naan. Mango sangria (2/5): The waiter put some perfume on it so it smelled good but otherwise it did not taste great. It tasted more like carbonated water and I didn't taste any mango flavor. The cocktail itself was not very strong either Bun samosa (4/5): This was solid. The samosa tasted good and there was a lot of butter on the bun so that tasted good as well. I liked the idea of a samosa burger. The peri peri fries that came with the samosa were alright. Guac and chips (2.5/5): This was average. I did not like the guacamole that much. It could have used more seasoning like salt, pepper, and lime. Ravioli (3.5/5): Simple but tasty. Deep fried cheese ravioli with tikka masala dip. I liked the cheese and the dish was nice and warm. Giving it a 3.5 since it is very straightforward Naughty naan with paneer (3/5): Looked delicious. There was lots of cheese and sauce on it. However, we were not fans of the sauce. It was a little sweet. I would have liked for it to be a little spicier Service was on the slower side and it took time for our food to come out. We waited about 15-20 minutes for our drinks and appetizers. After we placed the order for the naughty naan, that took another 20-25 minutes. Some of the appetizers seem to be frozen and reheated and the happy hour cocktails are not that strong. My coworker also tried the complimentary happy hour chai and he said it did not taste fresh. Some good things were the ambiance and the background music. Our bill came out to be $80 which was not bad for a group of 4 but considering it was happy hour and the food wasn't very fresh, I didn't leave feeling very satisfied. Updating my last review of this location. Nice space to come to for some drinks and food after work as well as a full meal. I came there to pick up a take out order. While I waited for my order to be filled, I went to the bar and had a regular old-fashioned. Served and finished just as the order was delivered to me to take out. Arriving home, the main orders were still hot, but the Perry Perry fries were getting a little cold. However, I will say that even cold they are still good and I ate them with relish. :-) Actually, I ate them with the dipping sauce they come with. And I want to add that their take out packaging is relatively green, which is a very nice thing to discover. The dipping sauce came in a compostable container. The main dish that my wife had came in wax cardboard with a plastic number five liner and the Perry fries also came in wax cardboard. It looks like. Thinking a little hard about it. There may be a little bit of plastic film in that cardboard, but at least it's not all plastic. So come on down! read more

I visited this location two days in a row for takeout. The food itself was solid--definitely on the heavy side. The burrito was even bigger than Chipotle's, so it ended up being my lunch and dinner both days. If you think of it as two meals, the $20+ price (with tax and tip) is actually pretty reasonable. Service was where things got inconsistent. On Saturday, when I arrived at the ETA they gave me online, I was greeted pretty curtly and had to wait another 5 minutes (which is fine), but the staff just slid my bag across the counter instead of handing it to me. Not exactly welcoming. On Sunday, it was the same staff member but they actually handed me the order and were more polite. So it seems hit-or-miss depending on the day. Overall, convenient for big portions and if you want something different, but I'd like to see a little more consistent customer service. read more

One time try place and the schezwan chicken fried rice could have been better, may be the taste was not good because of going at the last hour. Parking might get tricky during busy hours. Drinks: (1) The Mortar & Pestle - 10/10 This is their signature drink and it is so tasty and goes down very smoothly. Will be ordering this again. (2) Electric Lemonade - 6/10 It was a bit bland. We expected there to be a bit more of the lemonade taste. Most disgusting were the fried Punjabi Chicken 69 and Gobi Manchurian (supposed to be crisp cauliflower). There were no vents in the fried dishes so they were mush. The fried chicken were not wings or drums, but little chunks all covered in batter... and the batter was so burnt. I think they refried this a few times and tried to serve it.... The cauliflower was drenched in a sour, salty sauce that was sooo spicy, I hate wasting food, but I had to toss out both of these dishes in the trash. Cute paper boxes and bag...(great paper packaging and compostable sporks over plastic).... It all looks pretty, but all tastes awful. The Ghee Makhni Butter Chicken 16 oz reminds me of a sweet roasted tomato soup. The chicken in it was at least tender. Worst $50 ever. One of my worst meals thus far is South Bay. As Murphy's Law would have it, there was a problem the morning and I got a notification of canceled delivery. There was a moment of panic, but eventually the manager Raj got reached me and fixed the problem. The issue was caused by the delivery service provider and not Raj / Curry Up Now. We sat down, the entire restaurant was beautifully decorated, and our bartender was full of energy.
