I'm slippin'! I thought I gave this place a review already until I realized I hadn't yet. This place is yummy. I love that There is a nice mix of food here. I love Indian food, but I think this like really takes the classics and reinvent them very slightly and they're so delicious like the Naan-bits are so good. It's like small flatbreads and the food is not too spicy but like seasoned really well. In short, I highly recommend checking them out. They're delicious and not too expensive. They list items as being free from allergens that use those allergens as PRIMARY ingredients. Avoid at all costs. Not as a matter of preference, but as a matter of safety. My favorite is the Punjabi By Nature burrito but the Chicken Tikka Masala burrito is the original if you're a newcomer. The Kathi Roll can be delicious but I just don't think it travels well so I recommend not doing that take out. I have a long history with CUN starting when they only had food trucks on the Peninsula (this was decades ago). I used to travel many miles to grab a unique fusion of indian food and burrito. These days they have stores near me so much more convenient but I miss chatting with the owners. What strikes me is they've been doing this a long time, and they've extended the menu quite a bit, but the basic "indian burrito" is still such a delicious experience and I've haven't found many others that do it as well (if at all) read more

We went here recently and tried the El Jefe naan wraps with chicken! It came with peri peri fries. We ordered on Uber Eats for pickup. We asked if we could sit there to eat and they were kind to allow us to. The food was very tasty and flavorful! The chicken in the naan wrap was tender. I ordered my burritos online for pickup at 12:15. Got there at 12:23. Double parked, since I expected to just step in, pick it up and step out. The order was not ready. He said it would be 2 minutes. Eventually, it became clear that they started my order only after I got there. I got my food only at 12:33. He didn't even apologize. I do not appreciate being made to wait 10 minutes while double parked. But more than that I do not appreciate the dishonesty. Let me add that they were not busy at all. Not one person was there eating, or waiting for a pick-up. Not one order was ready to be picked up by someone who hadn't arrived yet. They had just ignored my order till I got there. Plus, our Goan burrito had no saag paneer at all. None whatsoever. However, the burritos *were* tasty. Filled poorly, though. If you share two burritos like we did, one person may get all the meat and the other one nothing but rice. Parking is not easy at all at this location. Given how little business they are doing on a weekday at lunchtime in a business district (gee, I wonder why?), I don't imagine this location will survive very long. read more

I ordered a vegan roll from Curry Up Now through their app, but instead I was sent a paneer roll. I'm lactose intolerant, so this was not only frustrating but completely inedible for me. When I called, thinking they'd fix the mistake, the response was beyond ridiculous. No apology. No refund. Nothing. Instead, I was told I "should've ordered through DoorDash." Seriously? That's their solution? Blame the customer for using their own app? This isn't just bad service -- it's careless and disrespectful. If you can't fulfill an order, you either contact the customer for a substitution or cancel it. What you don't do is randomly send whatever you want and then shrug it off. The lack of accountability here is astonishing. Dietary needs aren't optional or a joke, and treating paying customers this way is flat-out unacceptable. I first tasted Curry Up now at a training I attended a couple weeks ago and thought it was fabulous so I started ordering it through Grubhub. The Chili Chicken is just a burst of flavor, just the right amount of heat and the chicken is tender. It's a very spacious place, but there was literally no one there. The woman at the counter who handed me my food was very nice though. Pav Bhaji: I had this item at a friend's house and it was so good! They said that not a lot of restaurants around here carry it, so when I saw it on the menu here, I was excited to try it. The buns were very toasty and became hard. Difficult to eat, as they were dry. The veggie filling was ok. Chicken Tikka Burrito: Bf got this and said it was very bland. Lol, not much comment from him. Death by Tikka Masala Thali: Includes chicken tikka masala, your choice of lentils, turmeric rice, naan (I upgraded $1 to chili garlic naan), cracklings, and gulab jamun. The tikka masala was soooo greasy! It was just a puddle of grease. After eating it, it made my stomach hurt throughout the day. The rice was dry. The "naan" was not fresh. I ordered sexy fries with paneer tikka masala online for pickup via DoorDash; there are optional boxes you can check for spice level but I left those unchecked. The food was done quickly, it was ready within 8 mins of ordering. It seems the default spice level of the dish is pretty spicy, as I am only able to handle mild and I had a hard time with it. I was disappointed by the paneer tikka masala as it tastes rather odd - not in a good way and this is something I've noticed when I ordered paneer tikka masala from other Curry Up Now locations too - and doesn't really taste like the creamy tomato flavor that I have come to expect. fle fries were soft because of curry on them. I tried DoorDash first, but the fees were unreasonable and astronomical, and I have DashPass on top of that. Instead, I went straight to Curry Up Now's source website and saw that they have their own delivery system, even at $4 or so, I saved $10 ordering directly than on DoorDash. I ordered the butter chicken family style entree, the garlic chili nan, and the riced cauliflower side. Everything exceeded my expectations. The chicken was tender, flavorful, and seasoned to perfection! The nan too was absolutely divine! I was equally impressed with the riced cauliflower. I try to reduce my carb intake, so I was happy to learn that this dish was offered here and how AMAZING it tastes! My company sponsored lunch from Curry Up Now's food truck. I understand the menu was limited for the event, but they had rice bowls or burritos with choice of protein and samosa. I got the chicken tikka rice bowl that came with a garbanzo curry. Service was extremely fast and the portion was large. I enjoyed everything and it wasn't too spicy. The Meat Sweats Thali plate came with kashmiri lamb, butter chicken and kadhai chicken. They also gave me basmati rice and 4 pieces of Naan and a crispy chip like bread to dip. All of them were so delicious. The lamb is ground up with peas and potatoes. The butter chicken was mt favorite because to me its similar to chicken Tikka masala. And the kadhai chicken had bell pepper and had a spicy touch which I loved. The mango lassi was pre made so it was a little watery. I would probably pass next time. Everything else was delicious though and for a good price. The thali plates could serve 2 people for $15 and when you compare that to a regular Indian restaurant I would say this is a better deal. People who know Indian street food, get ready to be thoroughly disappointed. Have ordered twice from here, never doing it again. I came to Curry Up Now in Oakland as part of a food collaboration, and the team was so kind to let me try as many items as I wanted. Here were my favorites: -Hella Vegan Bowl -Naughty Naan with Chicken -Dahi Puri -Fried Tandoori Chicken Sandwich All the items came out very hot and delicious! The hella vegan bowl was great, because it's high in protein and kept me full for most of the day. The Naughty Naan was a rich treat that my boyfriend and I got to share, as well as the Dahi Puri. The Dahi Puri was so fun to eat, and reminded me of the puris you actually get in India! The staff told me the Fried Tandoori Chicken Sandwich was one of their most popular items, and I could see why. It was crisped to perfection and had a pineapple chutney in the center! I first had this at a food truck as Off The Grid a couple of years ago. Now this is one of it's brick and mortar locations and they have a much wider selection. The restaurant is pretty spacey and has a pretty modern lounge/coffee shop atmosphere. There is a huge menu over the register, but there are also plenty of menus to look over while you're in line. I personally had the Meat Sweats Thali Platter. There is a lot of food on this dish alone. 3 different meat/sauces, couple of fluffy naan slices, rice, and a big crispy chip that can be broken up for the pico. Some meats I liked more than the others, but it depends on your taste. They were all good, but I definitely liked the chicken ones better. The chip had the texture of those Taco Bell cinnamon twists. The rice was rice. We also got an order of Chicken Tika Sexy Fries and Chicken Tika Naughty Naan. These are huge, so maybe just order one, depending on your group. Smothered and covered sweet potato waffle fries with Chicken Tika. A big fluffy Naan bread smothered in similar stuff. All delicious. I guess there was also a salad that came with the Naughty Naan, but we were all too stuffed already. Whether you're new to the cuisine or, a seasoned vet, there's something for everyone here.
