Now I do not fault them for me not getting the car, I fault them on how it was all presented to me. Staff member Alyssa Rodriguez finance manager made a mistake by putting JPMorgan Chase Bank on my extended car warranty. It made me look like I have lender and owe banks money even though I paid everything in cash. She was not being helpful and kept delaying my request. She was always busy and never liked to respond to her customer's call. I mean if she can't manage, send someone else or team to help her with her job or something. I feel like she doesn't want to help her customer at all after I purchased the car. I have tried to resolve the issue directly by contacting her via phone, voice mail, and messages. I was unable to reach a satisfactory resolution from her. I've been calling her for more than 5 days. I had horrible experience with this purchase. This is my first time purchasing car with this company, and I am not happy about the service she provided me. My time doesn't value anything? She gave me wrong information about certain warranty details and promised she would help me if I wanted to cancel the warranty when I needed it, but she refused or delayed my request. My goal with this post is to say my experience at this dealership and that's it. My wife and I were excited to buy our first Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle from Subaru. We have a 2006 Forester and we love it! We found the car we wanted, a Green 2021 Forester Limited that had 36,000, at Curry and drove up from Brooklyn to see it. The reviews that I have seen of this dealership have mostly been stellar which gave me confidence in our decision. I mentioned on the phone that we were very interested in purchasing this car. When we arrived yesterday we were met by Emilio, the sales rep who we happened to be connected to when we called the dealership. He escorted us out to the car and encouraged us to look it over, jump inside, start it up, and take it for a test drive. We both stopped on the driver side when seeing several large, deep scratches in the car. All were roughly 4-6" long and way deeper than the top layer of paint. I called Emilio over and said "There are major scratches here," to which he replied, "The driver probably parked to close to a tree and scratched the car." I went to the other side of the car and there were light scratches the entire length of the passenger side. I really wish I would have taken video or pictures because I wouldn't have believed it if you were telling me this story. When I pointed those out, Emilio said, "Used cars are bound to have some scratches from previous owners, you can't expect a perfect car." He was so nonchalant about it I started to think, "Am I being unreasonable?" My wife and I took the car on the road with our dog in the back (have to love Subaru and their love for dogs!). It drove like a dream. Smooth, beautifully quiet, great acceleration and breaking, awesome sound system. But I just had a bad feeling about the external marks. I decided to stop at a body shop and went to Ultimate Auto Body. I told the man working there I had an unorthodox question, told him that we were interested in buying this car, and asked if he would look at the damage. He pointed out several dents that he believed had been pulled out from the outside with a tool that left marks in the car and that they had all been painted over. He said, "Whoa! Wait did you already buy this car?" when he saw the deep scratches on the drivers side. I said, "No. Could you give me an eyeball estimate if you were going to fix all of this how much it would cost?" He said, "I don't want to tell you." After more prodding he said, "$6,000-8,000." We were floored. It also felt validating that we weren't crazy in thinking that a Certified Pre Owned car from a dealership should not have that much damage. We returned to the dealership and I asked to see the other 2021 Forester Limiteds available. We saw two, neither had any significant damage. Only a small scratch or two on the bumpers. We told Emilio our experience with the body shop and he doubled down on his statement about used cars having damage, especially around that dealership because there were so many trees. He went so far as to say that even their brand new cars have scratches on them. Finally, he said, it should be more about how the car drives than how it looks. I laughed and said, "If I'm about to spend $27,000 on a car I would expect it to look nice to. The car should look normal enough that we aren't even having this conversation." We asked if they could do anything about the price given the amount of the damaged and were told, "No, there is nothing we can do. Any used car you find will have damage." This may be true, but I don't believe it should be the amount we encountered. As it says on the SUBARU CERTIFIED PREOWNED CHECKLIST - No Scratches that Exceed 1" - there were many of these, which makes me surprised that it is being sold as a CPO Vehicle. We left, went to Stamford Subaru who also have the car we are looking for and told them our experience. The sales rep there was shocked, saying "CPO used ehicles really shouldn't have any exterior damage." That is the complete opposite of what Emilio was trying to sell us. read more

Sept 2022, Nancy the Service Rep was wonderful. I was told I needed new rear break pads and rotors cut, so I asked to see for myself. Willy who was working on my car showed me the breaks and explained how worn there were. Fronts did not need to be changed. Since I am traveling to Florida next month I was advised not to wait. So I gave them the go ahead to do the brake job. Then when the car was done I asked Willy to show me the new break pads and cut rotors which he gladly did. Honestly, with my coupon the whole cost of the job with an oil change was not that bad in price. All and all, I would come back here again but only ask for Willy to work on my car since he was very knowledgeable and explained the work on my 2018 Crosstrek. read more

The finance manager included an extended warranty in my contract, even after I explicitly mentioned I did not want a warranty. I did not realize there was a warranty in my contract, I signed it and then a few days later I noticed my balance was $3k higher than expected. It has now been a 4 month battle just to get this warranty that I did not even want cancelled and refunded. read more

Bad experiences, from purchase to service. The purchase was unpleasant bc we were shuffled into the business manager's office where we were given 10 or 15 minutes to decide on buying a whole range of expensive add ons, like warranties, etc. We were given no information about any of these before the tiny pressured meeting in which we were encouraged to buy everything. We bought nothing. We figured if any of it had been worthwhile they would have been upfront about all of it and given us time to consider it. Very sketchy feel all around. Unfortunately my first time experience at Curry Subaru, will also be my last. I went into this dealership, with the expectations of being sold a vehicle. I did my research and honestly if I would have received better service, I probably would've bought on the spot. So I entered the dealership over the weekend with my family. As soon as we entered the dealership there were a bunch of associates/reps at the counter just staring at us, with No one approaching.A few seconds later I guess because of how me and my family looked, mind you no one had spoken to us yet, we hear an associate yell "SPANISH, SPANISH".. I'm assuming to try to get a Spanish speaking agent, which would've been granted if someone actually spoke to us and we had asked for a Spanish speaking rep but No one did so we were just judged on how we looked. 2nd, we were introduced to Philip that you can immediately just by his body language and how he spoke to us he didn't want to deal with us. First words out of his mouth were like I have a client coming in a few min pretty much just rushing us from the beginning. I advised Him what I was looking for and the price range I wanted but it felt like he kept telling us things to push us away instead of actually make the sale. There were deals online that I had done research on already and he didn't mention them once. When I showed interest in a specific model, he spoke about the car in a negative tone than positive. Referencing several times I needed to make a large down payment when online it never referenced that. He didn't want to quote or even really give us an estimate because he said that the rates might change when I decide to actually purchase it. Mind you, I was ready then and there but just wanted to verbally hear what can be done and the services the dealership has. I havent bought / leased a new car in over 10 years and just wanted great service and overall great experience to gain more knowledge on the process of purchasing/ leasing and instead my family and I just got pretty much kicked out the door by not just Phil but all the associates as soon as my family and I entered the building. Used Car Sales - 4 stars Service - 1 star I can't get with the description "A-OK" for this dealership. Had a good experience buying a 2011 Subaru Legacy (this is for Hyundai/Subaru). Good price, reasonable cost for initial repairs and an overall pleasant experience with little hassle. Service on the other hand - I just had my first experience and it was not good at all. Brought the car in for an inspection and for a brake pulsation. I expected the car would need new rotors and pads on one axle. $503 per axle. They said I had to do "both" axles. Very fishy as the car is only 10,000 miles in since we bought it and the brake inspection passed from both Subaru and my mechanic. Took the car over to Mavis who said only the front axle needed replacing and the cost was 60% of Subaru's. They also exchanged the brake fluid for a small incremental cost. Curry, your service reps clearly work on commission or get performance reviews based on dollar volume. Either way, this is not in the customer's best interest and will drive business away from you. If that isn't the case, then your mechanics didn't actually inspect my brakes (the rears were at over 80%). Time to change your ways, Curry Subaru Service. Very, very disappointed. First, I selected Curry Subaru because of their over all ratings online (outside of Yelp). They were not the closest dealer to my location. I also did things a little backwards and went through finance (Klitos) before I found my car. Truthfully, I didn't want to work with a sales associate because I don't like being "sold." I worked with Peter Howard and Peter (sales manager). Everyone was very professional and no one pushed. Ultimately, I had found my used car online (around midnight) at the Curry Toyota dealership next door. It was an exact match of the car I wanted, only second color choice. I was waiting for Peter H. to arrive in the morning before I called to see if they could bring it over or if I had to work a new deal through Toyota. Before I called, Peter called me and said, "I think we have your car at Toyota!" What can I say... great minds think alike! He was patient and he listened to what I wanted. You know how us women like to get everything we want! ;) Deal was done and I picked up my car a few days later! Thank you Peter! With such a great review, you might ask, "Why not 5 stars?" Well, I had a luxury vehicle and never thought I trade it in for any other make (If I didn't need an AWD vehicle with good gas mileage on a mid range budget, I wouldn't have switched). I haven't had my first servicing yet and I'm very nervous! I was used to getting a loaner car so I could continue running my errands (I'm a busy single mom) and this will NOT be the case at Subaru. In their defense, it's probably only luxury dealers who offer loaners. Instead, I'll be waiting in the lounge area catching up on work emails (on my day off) or reading a book. Time is precious with my family, so we'll see how it pans out. PS - The cute sign was a bonus! Lol! Purchased my car June 2017 with 8k mikes on it and here we are Dec 2019 and I'm about to rollover to 70k. I drive a lot and most of it is momming!!! I did receive a loaner once, but that was it and trying to get into a service appointment during my busy single mom/work schedule has been frustrating! The man who helped me today said, "I understand," after I told him I work not close to home or their location and I'm a single mom. Really dude? You know what it's like to be a single mom?! SMH... even more frustrating! It's been a good car so far. Bonus, it goes anywhere! Downside, it's super uncomfortable to commute in, but that's not where my stars come in at. I gave Curry four stars and not five because of the final sales When I bought the car. My sales person was courteous, attentive , and helpful with some decisions. We came upon a good price. The final sales where we sit down and pay was almost a disaster. They renegged on a promised loan rate. I had to fight and hold my ground and things worked out fairly in the end. Just didn't like to do battle. But so it goes with buying a car or home for that matter. Just didn't expect the last minute shifts. Rude Staff Bad Service Took 2015 Subaru here with only 12k miles for a recall in otherwise perfect condition. One hour after leaving my check engine light came on. When I returned to the service department the service rep and manager started blaming me for check engine light being on. They accused me of purchasing bad gas, riding around with an empty tank and not filling up my take when I refuel. Do yourself a favor and don't come here for any servicing on your car (Unless you request Akeem work on your car). You're better off doing it yourself. They'll always tighten bolts too tight, or too loose (it's happened before, and I heard stories from someone who worked there). When I finally got to my oil pan (after 45 minutes of struggling), I saw THEY USED THE SAME OIL DRAIN PLUG THAT THEY OVER-TIGHTENED LAST TIME AND CROSS THREADED IT!!! I took it there after my first courtesy oil change because it was impossible to take off, and they didn't care enough to replace it. They'll always screw something up and it makes it impossible to work on your car. Customer service is decent (depending on the day and your luck), and the Service Writers are great. That's the only reason I gave it 2 starts. Unfortunately for me, I have a warranty with them and have to get work done there if something breaks on my car. Just avoid this place unless you have money to waste. Avoid this place at all costs, they will do anything to get you to come back and spend more money; even if that means fucking up your car. read more

We recently brought our car in because the engine light was on. They gave us an estimate of 10K, saying we needed to replace the transmission. The oil they saw on it was from a spill while being filled up. We brought it to Ruge's Subaru in Rhinebeck, New York, for a 2nd opinion. It did need a transmission valve body and then they noticed it needed a new catalytic converter. Guess how much they charged - 0$$$$$. All these repairs were still under warranty! When we tried to get our money back for the $140 diagnosis at Curry, they wouldn't give it back to us. They suggested the corporate office, which didn't help us either - we were very disappointed in them and the corporate offices. I do not suggest this dealership - at least not for repairs! read more

Great car buying experience. I was not absolutely sure what car I was going to get to replace my current vehicle. On my first visit, Kurt Glass in sales was very helpful explaining everything about the Legacy. We took a fairly long test drive and learned more about the car. A few weeks later, I went back for a quick visit, as I was going around to see how my car seat fit in the various cars that I was debating on. Carmine was working and was very helpful in getting me a car to test out. No questions asked and they were more than happy to help. A few weeks later I went back and put a deposit down on this car. They found me the exact car that I wanted within a few days. The "paper work" portion when I picked up the car took about 20-30 minutes. I was very happy about that! Everything was in order and I was at the dealership about 1 hour from start to finish when I picked up my new Legacy. Kurt showed me all of the ins and outs of the car. I would DEFINITELY recommend you stay away from Curry Subaru. I used the TrueCar buying service and went to Curry even though their price was $1,000 higher than other dealers, because I wanted to stay local. What a mistake! When I got there, the car was muddy, which seemed odd, but it had been raining, so I did not think much of it. I test drove it, went in, got paperwork that matched pretty close to the quote from TrueCar, signed and gave a check for the deposit. That night, I received a call from my insurer about covering the car prior to picking up next day. When they asked me for the odometer mileage, I pulled out the paperwork, and surprise, it was not filled in, and I had not thought to look during the test drive. Then I remembered that the sticker had been removed from the car window as well. Next morning we went to pick up the car with our bank check in hand hoping it would be ok, but the salesperson was not ready for us--thought it was scheduled for 11, but it had been scheduled for 10. When he finally came over to us he was in a big rush, but I stopped him and asked for confirmation on the mileage before doing anything else. He blustered about how cars could have a few hundred miles on them because of "testing at Subaru." Well, it turned out that this "new car" had more than 380 miles on it! I stopped him there, told him we were not buying a used car and wanted our deposit back. Then he told me he had the same model car with very low miles and could sell us that. As if we would do business with them after that con job! The manager came out with the same line. When it became clear that we were not going to do business with them after being conned, they first they said they'd have to mail a check to us because our deposit had been cashed, but after pushing it suddenly appeared. Bought a 2018 Outback at Curry in Cortlandt Manor in June. Took it in for complimentary first service in November. Later that week, I thought the front left wheel was making a thumping sound. I looked at it and the tire wasn't flat or bubbled. I kept thinking it was my imagination because I usually listen to music pretty loud and the noise would come and go. Then it came and stayed, and then it started making a different, irregular thumping noise. Finally pulled over and I thought, maybe a lug nut is missing. They were all there, BUT THEY WERE ***LOOSE***. The service tech hadn't tightened them down properly after the service. So loose in fact that I was able to spin two with my hand. Thank the gods I figured it out on a side road where the speed limit was 30 rather than losing the wheel at 80 mph on I-684. I called Curry and talked to Tony, who apologized profusely, said all the right things and promised that the next service would be free. All well and good, and everyone makes mistakes, but christ almighty, if you're going to make a mistake, don't make a mistake with potentially catastrophic consequences. read more

Did not buy a car here, and never will. Why? I'm shopping around for cars in the northern Westchester area, which means a lot of research on the internet to understand options and pricing. One thing I did is to configure a car on Truecar, which I understood would result in me getting contacted by dealers. Truecar forwarded my configuration to three dealers in the area, and two of them sent me an email thanking me for reaching out, provided some information, and that was it. Curry Subaru called me the next day while I was at work. I told the lady who was calling me that I would be in contact if I wanted to work with them. I also told her that I preferred being contacted by email, and asked her flag me as a "do not call" contact in their records. Fast forward two weeks later, when I configured another Subaru model on Truecar. Again, Truecar contacted the same three dealers, and two of them got in touch by email. Curry Subaru, on the other hand, called me the next day, again while in the office. This time I didn't pick up, thinking that they might have made a mistake and overlooked the "do not call" flag in their system. They called again a couple hours later. This time, slightly annoyed, I pushed the call away, thinking they might get the hint. No such luck. Over the next couple of days, Curry Subaru called me 7 or 8 times, left voice messages, and sent emails (including a couple of canned emails with a "I hope we did not do anything wrong" message ). I finally answered one of the calls, gave the lady a piece of my mind on what I consider aggressive sales tactics, and asked her - once more - to never call me again. At this point I want to apologize to the lady on the other end of the line: I know that sales calls are hard work and I understand you were just doing what your management is asking of you. I am sorry that you were on the receiving end of me voicing my frustration with your employer. To the managers at Curry Subaru: How many calls do you think it takes to get people annoyed? A ringing phone in my pocket several times per day - why not just blow a bullhorn into my ear? It's 2018. Send a text message or an email. Let me make up my mind on my own time and come back to you if I'm interested. Respect a request to not being called. If you feel that your offering is so weak that you need to resort to pushy sales tactics, how am I to trust that you cannot let your product and service speak for themselves? What shitty customer service. Seriously? When I brought my mother's car in for an oil change, and asked if they would top off the fluids -- like they were supposed to -- the service manager looked me and told me not to count on it. The second time I brought the car in for an oil change the same thing happened. Another snide remark from the service manager. Not only that, but when we purchased the vehicle, the sales manager spoke to us like we were children. My mother has a degree in finance and she was treated like an idiot. I can pretty much guarantee that they treat everybody like a child. If you want to be treated with respect, go somewhere else. read more

If you're looking for a Subaru get yourself to Curry Subaru in Cortlandt, NY. Even if it means driving an extra hour or so do it because this is the nicest group of people you'll ever meet. Ask for Marc DeBenetictus. He wants nothing more than to make you happy in the car that's right for you and never makes you feel rushed in the process. He takes the time to get to know you a little and helps you make the right choice regardless of whether it's a basic compact or a fancy high-end model with all the bells and whistles. We were buying a pre-certified model and he couldn't have been more helpful. When we came back to pick up the car he had it waiting for us in front and took as much time as we needed to explain all the features, of which there are tons even in the less expensive models. I must admit, when it comes to software I'm not the sharpest tack in the box and it takes me awhile to understand what's in front of me. I especially appreciated Marc's patience in helping me through! We've bought a lot of cars over the years and I can say without question it was the best experience we've ever had.
