My ex-g/f lives close to here, and we were fortunate enough to try this as our last meal of 2017! (Relationship end in April; it was mutual.) On December 31, 2017, we were planning on going somewhere else, but they had closed early. So, we ended up here. The owner was very friendly helping us with the menu. We took the food to go, and it was very tasty. The best part was that the owner said we could try the buffet while we were waiting. I sampled various foods, and everything I tried was delectable. Unfortunately, we didn't go back here before the break-up as there were so many other restaurants to try in Germantown (& elsewhere). Although I did bring up Curry Place to her a couple of times in 2018, but for some reason it didn't happen. I would come back here if I'm in Germantown looking for excellent Indian food. read more

We have been ordering here for the past two years and I only just realized I have never reviewed it! This is hands down our favorite spot for indian carry out. Our favorites: lamb rogan josh, lamb korma, navratan korma, chole, malai kofta, chicken and vegetable biryanis, samosa, samosa chaat, veg momos, chicken tikka masala, and chicken vindaloo. Really just about every dish is fantastic and service is fast -- food comes piping hot in generous portions. We always recommend this place to new neighbors looking for good, solid indian carry out and will continue to do so. read more

We ordered take out of the goat curry, lamb kebob, and garlic naan. Goat curry was excellent. Goat was tender. The curry was surprisingly on the sweeter side. Lamb kebob was tender and had a spicy kick. Highly recommend it. I wish we had ordered more garlic naan. Everyone loved it. The delivery was scheduled to come by 5:30pm. This is a nothing little hole-in-the-wall, next to a liquor store in a strip mall in Germantown. We came here on a whim. We had a very delicious meal! The vegetable korma was delightful, with pops of sweet fruits and savory veggies in every bite. The paneer tikka masala was in a tangy tomato cream sauce that was perfect for sopping up with the naan. The vegetable samosas had a nice light batter, and we're not greasy at all. I'm just writing a review for their momos, because they're honestly the best momos i've had in the DMV area. I tried both the fried & steamed momos for the first time on Friday & I had to go back for more on Monday. The aachar (sauce) is amazing & the momos are decently priced at $5! Ended up in this restaurant instead of another in the shopping center. Very fortuitous! The buffet was excellent. The goat and chicken curries were wonderful and the right level of heat for devoted Westerners. My only complaint is that goat curry is made with maybe backbone or some other bony, inexpensive cut. Very little meat that is hard to find. The tandoori chicken was also excellent. Well done just as I like it. So I was looking for some spicy Indian curry. Most places I've been to, the curry has been pretty mild. I craved more kick. I was searching high and low and something caught my eye on the menu here. Yeah the menu calls it Ghost Curry. And the menu says made with Ghost Peppers. But really... is it? It's got to be a gimmick... Right? Even if it is made with Ghost Peppers, would they really make it that spicy. They have to cater to the general public... Right? Heck. I'm Korean and laugh in the face of spicy. I've tried the spiciest jjigaes, ddukboki, jjambbongs, and all the spicy goodness that Korean cuisine has to offer. Super 2x spicy ramen challenge? Ha! No match for me. So I put in my grubhub order for lamb ghost curry and walked into the restaurant with not a care in the world. First thing I noticed was there was no one in the restaurant. And it was 6pm. Peak dinner hours. Maybe that should have been my first clue. So I bring it home. By then the curry wasn't too hot. It had cooled just enough where I could shovel large heaping spoons into my mouth without worry of burning myself. So I thought.. You know how some spicy foods don't hit you right away? And it takes a few bites before you're like "oh okay. That's kinda spicy." Well this ain't that. The first bite definitely hits you right away like a Sagat tiger uppercut to your tongue. But its still okay. I can handle it. I keep at it. Large spoon filled bites at a time. It hurt. But it hurt so good. After all that was said and done. I won. I had destroyed the Lamb Ghost Curry. But it wasn't easy. It took a lot sweat. Some tears. Literally. And there may have been a few snotty napkins as well. But anyways. Came here for the weekend lunch buffet. The place was pretty empty so we got seated right away. The ambiance isn't anything special and they could definitely do something to make it more welcoming and less like they throw some tables down. The food itself was really good. I prefer vegetarian food, especially when it comes to Indian, and they had such a good Variety! I think I tried everything that was out and didn't find a single thing I didn't like. I liked how they have a mixed rice with nuts which was different than I've had at other Indian buffets, but I really enjoyed it. Whao! This place lives up to the hype. There clearly is a valid reason why this is the highest Yelp rated restaurant in Germantown. I'm stunned by how good this place is. It's located in the strip-mall space, between Sugarloaf Beer & Wine & Pelican Pete's, in a space that was partially occupied by Chicken Basket for a long time. WOW, what an improvement! A great restaurant in a small bad location. This place is, perhaps, the new best restaurant in Germantown? It's that good. I dragged someone, who doesn't know anything about Indian food, here for the $9 lunch buffet and they were hooked. They even have Ghost Pepper Chicken Curry... I'm scurred to try that. "It is an upscale curry place specializing in a traditional and different flavored curry, plus house kabobs, specific recipes focusing on the North Indian cuisine, Indo-Chinese and Nepalese." ~say's their website. - And they cater too. This is not your typical Indian Cuisine it's Himalayan/Nepalese/Northern Indian food. So, they have Mo:mo's, Fried Rice, Hakka Noodles, and their spices are a little different than what you'd expect. I've ordered several items from the menu and enjoyed their lunch buffet. I can say that I've absolutely loved everything that I've tried, except for, maybe, the Vegetable Mo:mo's - Pretty sure those were store bought w/some homemade dipping sauce. They were still good, but nothing special. One of their outstanding dishes is the "Chicken 65' appetizer - from their Indochinese Menu. It's basically fried chicken chunks tossed in a special hot sauce. It's fantastic! Their Naan is solid too. Overall, their Curries are uniquely spiced and outstanding in their own right. They don't Americanize their food, and they have their own special spice combinations. They also have several dishes that you just don't find at your average Indian restaurant. I usually take Biryani from Eastern Kabob ( Nextdoor ) But today they were super busy ( 45 minutes or more ) so I tried Curry palace [ Bad Decision ]. The Biryani I ordered had very little quantity of chicken and that too, only breast pieces, which were as dry as the Mohave desert. My kids could not eat it. I really enjoy Indian food, so when I tried this place one night when I was coming home from work late, it came as a pleasant surprise! The ghost pepper chicken that I ordered was fresh, flavorful, and just plain delicious. I give Curry Place a 4 just to round up the numbers. Curry Place was a nice little discovery that my brother and I tried about 2 weekends ago. It's located right in the shopping center where the Lotte is on Wisteria Drive. When we went on Saturday at about noon, we were actually their second customer of the day. We thought it was weird that there's so few people since this place got such great reviews on yelp. However, about 30 minutes after we sat down, the place was PACKED! My brother and I waved a sigh of relief that we came early and claimed a table before the crowd. The service was pretty typical of a buffet place. Our server was pretty nice and friendly. He brought us water, and refilled it before the glass gets empty. He took our trays promptly. Nothing distinguishing from other buffets in the neighborhood. The food was great! Now, I am by no means an Indian/Himalayan/Nepalese/Etc food connoisseur, and I don't eat it frequently enough to know if it's authentic or not, but this place had some nice food. The buffet is pretty small, but for $9.95 weekend lunch buffet, I thought the number of choices was reasonable. My favorites were the chickpeas with samosas, their chicken curry (I forgot the name....) and their mango dessert (again, forgot the name...). All the dishes were nice and spiced up. Nothing in the buffet line was dull or bland. And they give out a basket of hot Naan for the table, too! Overall, it was a great eating experience at Curry Place (Again, not taking authenticity into the equation). Not a bad place to try if you're ever in the area and in the mood for some Indian/Himalayan/Nepalese/Etc food. I definitely recommend trying the lunch buffet if you're a newbie to this type of food (like me) and see what you like and what you don't like. Im giving this place 5 stars because of the value for money and the uniqueness of catering to your needs. It's great food, fairly priced, unlike most indian restaurants these days. We go here about once a month. The facility is always clean, the service is always good and the food is always outstanding. I have my favorite, Ghost Chicken with Garlic Naan. Spicy and flavorful with plenty of large chunks of chicken. Really enough for two meals but it is so good I cannot stop eating it. The Naan is soft and an excellent vehicle for getting the last of the fiery sauce. My words cannot do this place justice. read more

This is an updated review. I've been a customer since 2015. It's definitely improved since my initial review from 2015 and I've really enjoyed their food the past couple years. We love their curry goat and goat vindaloo. Unfortunately takeout has been disappointing. First two, three times we ordered it was perfect. This last time our goat vindaloo was mostly bone :/ We order at 8pm on a weeknight. The sauce was still delicious but thicker, reduced down. Safe to assume it was the day's leftovers. I hope they read this review. I would have preferred being told they ran out, item not on the menu that evening. I would have ordered something else. I'm definitely going to give them another try but will have to be more conscious of what time I order so I can return the food if not satisfied. read more

3.5 Stars This review is for a la carte dining. We ordered lamb biriyani and butter chicken (plus naan), which was enough for the two of us. The biriyani was tasty and had a little heat--definitely need some raita to go along with it! The butter chicken was extremely sweet! My sister and I never had a butter chicken dish that was so sweet before. We did attempt to temper the sweetness with the leftovers with lemon juice and yogurt, but that only took it so far. We don't get to eat Indian food very often and were hyped up, only to be let down by the butter chicken. Entrees do not come with naan. Order naan separately. Service was adequate. This restaurant was one of the worst I ever been to. The manager is rude and incompetent. Driver had no common sense to ring the doorbell as I was sleeping and they make me drive in the snow to pick my food up. And when I got there the manager was arguing with me saying that it was my fault. Horrible customer service. If I were you I would stay away from that place as far as possible.
