Delicious Indian food in Albuquerque, NM! I ordered the lamb korma (spicy), and it was exactly what I was craving - creamy, flavorful, & very filling. The lamb was very tender. My boyfriend chose the goat curry leaf (spicy), and while it was rich and also had a great flavor, it was way too spicy for me. If you are worried about the spice, I would definitely recommend trying this one at the medium level first. We also tried the onion kulcha and chicken tikka naan, which were so good. My favorite was probably the onion kulcha! I would say that the prices here are fairly expensive given the portion sizes. We also only got one container of rice for both curries, which didn't seem like enough given that we ordered 2 entrees. Overall, Curry Leaf definitely satisfied my Indian food craving. I plan to come back the next time we're in Albuquerque and order the lamb korma & onion kulcha again! read more

Literally one of the only places open at 8:45 pm in Albuquerque, NM on a Wednesday night! I thought Albuquerque was a city? I manically drove around all of Albuquerque, stopping at 10-12 places and calling countless more... every single one had the wrong hours posted and they were all closed or closing. I thought I was going to have to show up hangry to pick up my friend at the airport but luckily Curry Leaf was open and willing to feed me. I got the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. It was super quick, warm and felt nourishing on a cool fall night. The ambiance was comfortable and the murals on the walls were beautiful. Went for date night a few weeks ago! First experience eating Indian food out. Service was excellent, fast, and very attentive. There was a little bit of a line to be seated when we arrived, but it did not take long for us to be shown to a table. We ordered veggie samosa that were very good and not to spicy. The samosa came with 2 dipping sauces one that was sweet and really balanced the bit of spice that the samosa had. We also shared a mango lassie that was excellent, great flavor and consistency!!! Then we got two different dishes that I will have to add the name of later because I cannot remember how to spell them correctly... sorry... One had veggies and had a bit of a Smokey flavor not my favorite and my husband was not impressed either. The second was a lentil garlic dish that was very good and my favorite the flavor was great!! Rice came with our dishes. We also ordered garlic naan and it was amazing!!! Sooooo good!! We decided to get desert and got mango custard. It was very sweet I'm not a big sweets person but even my husband who is agreed it was over sweet. It came with fruit and slivered almonds on top. Loved the fruit and almonds added a nice crunch and I would have loved more slivered almonds and less sweetness and it would be prefect. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. It is in between two establishments and easy to miss. But, if you walk in, you will be rewarded! One thing I am a lover of is the Indian restaurant buffet. They are usually lunch only, but this is available here for dinner! You can order off the menu, or hit the buffet. One thing I love is hand sanitizer is available right on the table and at the buffet table. The buffet selection was delectable! With sag paneer, goat curry, vegetarian korma, and many others. Also, you are given a choice of assorted dosa (a thin pancake) and assorted naan. With a cheese soda and garlic naan, we dig in. With a mango yogurt for a flavorful end. The service is top notch, with frequent naan, refills and plate removal. The atmosphere is very nice and everyone was polite with Indian music as a compliment to the experience. It's so flavorful and warming, but isn't too heavy!! The perfect vegetarian dish! All entrees come with rice, but you MUST get garlic naan. It's the best naan I've ever had. So light and soft, but crispy at the same time. Incredible!! The owner came up and talked to me for a little bit too (as I was flying solo) and he made sure I felt welcome and taken care of. ABQ restaurant reviews time!! You know when three different people recommend the same place you HAVE to try it ;-). We were craving something different for a change after class so I jumped at the chance for a lunch buffet at Curry Leaf #curryleafrestaurant (a restaurant featuring dishes from both northern and southern India... several of which I've never heard of!). The staff was super friendly, making sure we had plenty of naan (both plain and garlic - which was delicious!). The food was highly spicy but delightful as I found myself eating more in between tears and giggles, especially because the layers of flavor within the spice were so intense in their own right! The mango lassi definitely helped cleanse the palate! I finished it up with fruit custard and these date cakes that looked like meatballs. I love the ambiance as well!! Our food and service was amazing. Very attentive service, warm and gracious staff, and they even turned on the patio lights for us without asking. They had very coordinated service with good communication and we felt very well taken care of. Wish we would have had room for desert! The food is expertly crafted. Much better than any other of our favorite places in ABQ so far, not too salty or greasy, immense complexity of flavor and feels energizing to eat. You can tell that everything is thoughtfully prepared and handled- even the way the to go containers are shaped is very conscientious. The food tastes great, but they only give you a small scoop of rice, 4oz at most. It's not enough to eat a curry with! I ordered take out, then had to go home and make rice. I don't know about you, but The Blip made me a heftier tipper than ever before. I've always been generous -- I used to live on tips, especially in college -- but during The Blip, especially the dark months, pretty much everyone got a few extra bucks. I might accidentally drop a fiver near the counter of a grocery store cashier. I'd throw in a nice extra on the receipt for takeout. Even the folks who dropped our groceries on the front step received an extra extra, on top of the mandatory delivery fee we paid to avoid a trip to the store. Anyone I deemed "essential" earned additional bucks out of my wallet, and that continues to be the case. I note this because this Indian restaurant, Curry Leaf, just resumed their lunch buffet, and in order to keep things Covid safe, they've instituted a system I've never encountered previously: your server accompanies you to the buffet, preparing your tray as you wish, keeping your hands off everything. Then, they double-down, offering servings of naan and roti, keeping your water glass filled throughout. The expansive outdoor patio provides a super safe environment to relish the goods, which are especially good, if unfortunately American-safe. Curry Leaf remains my favorite Indian fare in Albuquerque, thanks in large part to their emphasis on vegetarian options (easily two-thirds of the buffet dishes), a delightful tour of flavors and textures you won't find elsewhere. All of this is to note that when the final bill arrives, if you're a sucker for tipping, like me, you'll be more than compelled to over-compensate. This is service on another level, every need fulfilled, friendly, conversational. Before The Blip, there were four businesses operating in this center. Like a blackout hangover, I returned today to find that half of them didn't survive the night -- er, year -- before. I'm thrilled Curry Leaf is still with us, and I urge you to fill your belly over here, and drop a few extra bucks in the end, to keep 'em alive. read more

Amazingly delicious Indian food with a bright modern decor and polite efficient staff. The interior of this place is beautiful. As we were seated I admired the decor, including the tea light holder on the table. I enjoyed the masala tea while my daughter enjoyed a mango lassi. My daughter ordered her favorite dish, Chicken Tikka Masala. Fortunately it was on point and to her liking. Interestingly enough, they have a stuffed Chicken Tikka Naan, which turned out to be amazing; even better than it sounds. I ordered the Chilli Paneer to start. It was surprisingly good. The flavors are as vibrant as the colors. I tried the Onion Masala Dosa as my friend has been raving about the dosas here for months. It did not disappoint in the least. When they brought it to the table, I was astounded at the size. After starting to make my way through it, I realized that only 1/3 of it is stuffed, so the rest can be eaten separately, but I just used it to double wrap the stuffing. The sauces that came with it are both great, but I love the warm brown sauce and quickly made my way through the entire dosa. I'm definitely going to make my way back here again soon, with other friends in tow. read more

Was a the scent from the bread was intoxicating and not only was that good but the rest was all good food, and portions were a bit bigger than the togo we had ordered during last year. We stopped by this Indian restaurant on our way to the airport on Easter Sunday. They had a buffet with a great mix of South Indian and North Indian dishes. The goat curry was delicious...perfectly balanced spices and tender meat. The malai methi mutter was oily, but tasty. Naan was alright, but the freshly made dosas were wonderful! My family tried the chicken curry and other vegetarian dishes and only had good things to say about the food! The only downer was the tandoori chicken which seemed bland and dry. The service was great. The owner was personally making sure patrons were being looked after. The owner was friendly and kind and even gave us a bowl of fruits to-go for my toddler to eat on the plane! We had a wonderful last meal before leaving Albuquerque...thank you, Curry Leaf! read more

3.5 stars. I got take out from here as I don't have south Indian food in the city I live in and ABQ does. I ordered over the phone as the website didn't seem to work for me. I got the Chettinad dosa (cauliflower masala), a plate of idli -sambar and a plate of medu vada chutney. The Chettinad dosa came cut in pieces (like a cut dosa), which I wasn't expecting. Not sure why that disappointed me, having a cut dosa over the full one despite it being easier to eat in a hotel room. The dosa itself was decent. Not as spicy as I expected considering my experience with Chettinad cuisine has been on the side of spicy. The idli was fluffy and decent and actually lasted 24 hours. The medu vada was just ok. They are very big in size therefore got a little dry I think. One was filling enough for me for a small breakfast. The chutney was good, the sambar was delicious. read more

I have had many variations of Indian cuisine and BY FAR - Curry Leaf exceeds all expectations! Their signature dish is wonderful and any version of Vindaloo is an addiction my husband cannot shake. If you are anywhere near Curry Leaf- this is a must for any local or any one visiting. The menu accommodates all dietary needs. Service is kind, quick, and extremely focused in the customer experience. Lighting, seating, space between diners is calm and comfortable. Also had chicken Tikka masala super creamy in tomato sauce, exotic herbs, ground nuts and spice which was super delicious and creamy and had a good amount of heat and it did come with plant basmati rice. Trying to find somewhere to satisfy my indian food craving I found Curry Leaf. Let me tell you- I enjoyed a wonderful dinner here! Started with the appetizer of Paneer Pakora- it is served with 2 sauces to dip- never have tried this anywhere before but it was delicious! Crispy batter on the outside with yummy cheese inside. For my meal I had the Chicken Makhani (butter chicken) and WOW! So beyond delicious! Melt in your mouth chicken with the perfect amount of spice. It is served with rice and I ordered the garlic naan so that I wouldn't miss a drop of the sauce. I WILL be going back to Curry Leaf! My craving was blown away with this meal! For both dine in and takeout options, the food is delicious and consistent. They have many vegetarian options and everything I have tried has been excellent. I... don't much like the food in abq. Your choices are generally Mexican, New Mexican, (I don't know the difference), and fast. Pretty bleak. Curry Leaf, otoh, is a fine example of Indian cuisine. Completely competent. I know that's not saying much but for abq, it kinda is. The food is good. The menu covers some of my Indian favorites, (I haven't yet asked for my others. They might make them. I don't yet know). Service is pleasant although unhurried. Food or service generally arrives not too long after I'm expecting it although I often need to interrupt someone to ask. That said and given the other options in the town, we end up here fairly often. I think the diplomatic phrase would be "local favorite". read more

Came here to get the chicken curry with the chai for a drink. Extremely nice people. The person at the pickup counter was named PJ I think and he was very nice and welcoming. We really love Curry Leaf, and when it's good it's really really good. Unfortunately, the quality has been inconsistent recently. Our chicken has been dry, and the sauces overly reduced and salty. We've felt when getting carry out, that we're getting leftovers, it doesn't taste fresh.
