    Cheese Dosa

Yet another amazing Indian restaurant in Albuquerque with friendly caring staff, delicious spicy food, and a clean welcoming environment. Like some of the other places with dosas, their food tends to be more spicy than others, and it is delicious. They have a big selection of dishes to order and are pretty quick at serving it up once they take your order. I don't believe they offer a buffet at all.

Got takeout butter chicken. $16 for 7 small pieces of chicken and a cup of sauce. Pathetic and ridiculous. If this is normal for them I will not be returning.

Indian soda, unique and satisfying flavor!

This place is absolutely fantastic, the food was phenomenal, truly authentic South Indian cuisine! Bursting with robust and spicy dishes that will make you think about them even when you're not hungry! Great service and very roomy inside, I highly encourage everyone to try it. Also loved the Indian soda, very unique taste!

Went here with my family for a special occasion dinner...my birthday. I love Indian food and I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. I'm glad we chose it and it is now my favorite Indian cuisine restaurant in town. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Kababs which were served on a hot skillet of sizzling onions, with a lime section, green chutney, seasoned yogurt and side of rice. So good! The garlic naan arrived hot to the touch, just right. I dipped a piece into the sauce of the Chicken Tikka Masala across the table from me and it was delicious. Also got to sample the Spring Dosa which I'd never tried and I loved it. The Dal Tadka was also good but even at a mild level, it was a bit spicy for me. I'll try a different type of dal next time. The ambience was pleasant and the server was quietly attentive. A special thing that happen was at the end of the meal, just before walking out. I didn't say anything to the staff about it being my birthday until we were getting ready to leave. Then I told the woman who seated us that it had turned out to be a great choice for my birthday dinner. As were were about to walk out the door, she handed me a mango smoothie to take with me as a birthday treat. That was so kind of her! I will definitely be back for so many reasons!

Overall: Royal Hyderabad is so good that I went there twice in 1 week. It's more of a 4.5 because the dishes that are good are GOOD but some specific dishes aren't good. Food: 4 In terms of spice level, the medium was tolerable for a spice wimp like me. Gobi Manchurian: This is a sweet and sour deep fried cauliflower. It comes out super crispy and coated in a flavorful sauce. Dosa: We've gotten multiple different ones and they were all good! My favorite is the masala dosa. Butter Chicken: Although it's super basic, I always order this because this is the BEST butter chicken that I've ever had. Other great dishes that I would recommend: Gutti Vankaya (eggplant cooked in a peanut curry), chicken tikka masala, and palak paneer The only dishes that I would not recommend are the cashew based curries like the mughlai and korma. They are always too salty when I get them. Service: 5 The servers are always very polite and friendly. They're patient when we ask questions or order more. Ambiance: 5 The restaurant has booths and normal tables. It's well lit and clean. The only downside is the parking lot has trees that aren't well trimmed so can scratch your car.

    Cheese dosa! Yum!

YES! YES! YES! How can we get so many flavors into one dish? They know what they are doing! Dosa that is as big as the table - yep, I love Dosa. I ordered the cheese dosa. It came out with 3 dips that had enough spice to let you know it was there, but not enough to make you uncomfortable! I ate about 75% there and took the rest home which still traveled well! Chicken Lollypops were next and YES please! They came with little aluminum foil booties, which made eating these a bit easier! These had so much pop of flavor! Since I wanted to try it all, I did get some Hakka noodles to go. I did like these, but I didn't find the flavor what I wanted. That's okay, I'll try something different next time!

We had a group of 6 that came here Saturday for lunch. We received a table almost immediately and were provided 2 carafes of water. Our server was able to grab our orders and all of us ordered dosas and two appetizers - Chili Gobi and Stuffed Mirchi Bhaji. Being South Indian, the bhaji was something I haven't had in a while. It tasted authentic. I wish there were some lemon slices rather than just the amchur (dried mango) powder on there. I was surprised to get my Rava Dosa first as it usually takes longer to make than a regular dosa. The sambar was spicy and good. The coconut chutney was okay, and the tomato chutney was sweet. I wasn't a fan of the tomato chutney.

    Palak paneer

We were looking for some nearby Indian and decided we'd give this place a try. I got the palak paneer, the garlic naan, and a chai. This has been a few different restaurants over the years and I was glad to see the new place had updated the decor. The food was quite good though the service was a bit on the slow side. I wasn't aware that the chai did not come with refills and they didn't tell me when I asked for more. So I was a bit surprised when I saw the bill. So just a bit of caution on the drinks, I'm not sure what the policy is on any other beverages. The portions are a bit smaller than other restaurants in town and it was a bit light on the rice for the number of people we had in the party. All in all though it was good so definitely worth a try.

Father's Day, 2024. Lunch. Located on Comanche and Juan Tabo, this restaurant is right by the O'Niells pub. They greeted us and sat us quickly. Unfortunately, the service slowed down considerably after that. It took about 15 minutes to take our order. This was my wife's first time trying Indian food. I wanted her to enjoy the experience. The waiter asked if she wanted it spicy. So she ordered it spicy. She ordered the Amaravati goat curry ($19.99), which came with Tender goat with spicy Indian spices made with a Royal spicy sauce and hint of coconut. I ordered the fish biryani ($19.99). This was listed as a layered, multi-colored rice dish made with fish, basmati rice, spices and herbs. I ordered mine hot as well. Mine came with the hot, spicy sauce in a separate dish as well as some white yogurt sauce. My fish had been fried and although there were a lot of pieces buried beneath the colorful rice, they were on the dry side. My wife's dish tasted like it had scorpion peppers in it. She only ate a little. This could have all been avoided by a fair warning from our waiter. If he told us how truly hot these dishes were. She liked my dish better because I could control the amount of hot sauce I added. This would have been a much more enjoyable lunch. As it was, my wife had a literal bad taste in her mouth on her first try at Indian food. I'm hopeful she will want to try it again at some point.

Finally got around to trying this newish Indian spot on Juan Tabo. Perfect meal for a cold, windy evening. I got the butter chicken with garlic naan. The naan was perfect, and the butter chicken was pretty darn good. Service was on the slower side, definitely a meal you'll want to sit back and enjoy. If you're feeling more of a rush, they seemed to do a good amount of take out.

Stuffed Mirchi Bajji.... Very spicy!!!! Got me sweating! So good. Everything I got was good.

Got my food to go... delicious! The stuffed Mirchi Bajji is very spicy! Had my nose running and lip sweating Food was hot and quickly ready, waited less than 5 minutes... Flavors are very good!

The food was really good and very authentic. It was the right amount of spice and we were all full afterwards. We had a good amount of leftovers after 6 of us each ordered a dish to share plus appetizers. Even though there weren't many people in the restaurant the service seemed a bit slow. We had to flag people down a few times to request things. I would like to go back again sometime and try more things on the menu.

This location, was in a grocery store (several of which we reviewed before) and initially we were the only customers. The owner was the only one working in the store so there were boxes of groceries that were in the middle of being stocked, plus he also cooked for us and others that had ordered takeout, so that more than made up for the slower service time and lack of offer for water (that someone else had previously mentioned) in a small, but beautiful dining room with a TV that was set to an arab channel (currently a work in progress, but again, considering he's the only employee in the store, we give him a LOT of credit!) This was our first time eating anything Afghan, so I was really excited. I ordered a flatbread appetizer and my husband ordered a chicken kebab, plus we had this yogurt drink with mint, similar to kefir (which my husband felt was sour then enjoyed it as I explained how to drink it (If you focus on the flavor of the mint and contrast it to the yogurt, you'll see how well it works together!). Plus, the tart of the yogurt dissipated the longer it sat on the table. The food was equally delicious. The chutney that came with my appetizer was moderately spicy (which I prefer ) and the yogurt drink served as a complementary offset. Unfortunately we didn't stay for dessert this time because we needed to run to the store before it closed, but were grateful to have enjoyed the meal we ordered! Sadly it wasn't on the menu on the tablet. When I called the employee for help I basically got the vibe he didn't want to be there and he was hesitant to approach. When he did come to the counter I asked about the burger even showed him the email to get told it's not out yet and it was coming soon. The room is pretty but overly warm and reeks of grease. And there were some additional cleanliness issues. I want to return for the food, but if the other issues aren't addressed it may be the last time. Tons of grease smoke hanging in the air (the kitchen needs more serious ventilation - I texted and warned a friend not to come, as she hates the smell of cooking grease in her hair) when we came in at the early end of lunch (the place filled up pretty well behind us - it's Tuesday). It's a nice enough room (loved the painting of Bolívar and the Venezuelan tchotchkes in the case by the door) with plenty of seating - grab and read a menu, order at the front - it prompts you for a tip (went on the heavier side even with the counter ordering because I want El Chamo Arabe to stay around) and the counterwoman (not the friendliest person, but not rude) delivers everything to your table when it's ready (which will be a minute - but you're not here for _fast_ food). The room is pleasantly decorated but overly warm and - well, there's that grease smell issue: it was bad enough that we had to change clothes after eating here. Okay, prices seem reasonable. But when the food comes, prices seem downright _good_ - these folks give you a LOT of food. We got a $5 dolmas appetizer to start (juicier than what one usually finds; quite good) which came with the grape leaf rolls sitting on a pretty tasty dressed salad. We sure didn't need it, though: our mains (a shwarma plate with gyro meat and an arepa picada with one of chicken and one of beef) were really large. Really large. And it's tasty food. Enormous salads with both $14 plates: dressed well with great, fresh romaine leaves cut just right for easy eating. I'd note with some surprise that both the shredded chicken and beef on the arepas were pretty tasty, but was surprised to find the chicken grabbed me more. There is habañero salsa (albeit in a greasy bottle) on the tables if you need piquancy (why not? we're in New Mexico), and that was great. I'm not sure that the plentiful quantity of the mustard/ketchup (or was it Russian dressing?)/mayo sauce drowning of the arepa picada salad was a good thing. It was pretty, but it got to be a bit much for my taste down toward the bottom of it all - I'd ask for it lighter next time. The lunchmeat turkey and American-type cheese slice and perfectly cooked round fried egg certainly added to the salad, and the arepas themselves were a delight. My wife liked the rice and gyro meat and salad of her shwarma plate. Here's the thing: in addition to the grease-in-the-air situation, there were some cleanliness issues. The table where we sat (it was dead when we arrived, except for some waiting DoorDash drivers) hadn't been properly wiped and there were some old rice grains on it. The bottles of habañero and other salsas on the table were grimy and needed to have been wiped. The tray on which the silverware was brought to our table was greasy - repositioning it on the table to make room for our food made me want to wash my hands. And there was a hair (not ours) in the salad under my dolmas: I didn't mention to my wife because she would have stopped eating and I also didn't bring it up with the counterperson since the small restaurant was at that time full of lunching customers who didn't need to be troubled by hearing about it. And I know mistakes happen and I was not interested in a refund or apology; things happen. But I hope El Chamo Arabe customarily pays more attention to keeping things sanitary - the food is good enough that I want to come back and see. Food - 5 Service - 3 Atmosphere - 2 (lose the grease, fix the temperature and it's a 4) Cleanliness: 2 Value - ?

We sat down in the communal dining area for all the other mini restaurants there and waited over 20 minutes. I had gone back to see where the take out was. Finally I saw her bring it through the door from another location outside the food court. The chicken shawarma bowl was in the tray, but instead of the beef shawarma was a chicken shawarma wrap and cold French Fries. I told her she brought me the wrong order and begrudgingly she took it back outside to where she had brought it and 20 minutes later I got it. The bowl was 1/2 yellow rice, 1/2 romaine lettuce with almost no dressing and 3 of the skinniest sliced tomatoes I have ever seen and some cooked beef, very sparingly scattered on only the rice side of the bowl with a drizzle of a nondescript white dressing. My daughter was mostly done with hers when I got mine. I also orders the fried plantain side. It was 4 pieces, equivalent of one small plantain on one side of the cardboard serving boat and some shredded mozzarella on the other side! Now that is a bizarre combination! With almost no meat on either of our shawarma bowls, it was such a huge disappointment. The girl kept rolling her eyes with her mistake and then giving me dirty looks from behind the counter. So I got into Albuquerque early, and wanted lunch even though it was a little before 11am (having come from the east cost). I got there about 10:55, they open at 11, and knew what I wanted to eat about two minutes prior to that. I approached the counter... and well... was told not to for two more minutes, pretty curtly. OK fine, i can respect that, and the fact your day must not be off to a good start. So I come back at 11:01 and place my order for the El Burqueno burger with fries. That's a double smash cheeseburger with fried onions, green chiles, and a garlic ailoi on a grilled buttered bun. I grab a seat nearby to wait, and can see a commotion forming around the kitchen. Apparently, their frier would not turn on, so basically fries were taken to another restaurant in the food hall, brought back, and served to me. In fact, the burger was one of the most on-point smashburgers I have had in recent memory. A wonderful brown crust on both smashed patties, and skirted with lots of melty cheese. The bun definitely had a rich buttery flavor, and it all came together nicely.
