Gulab jamun (fried donuts in a sweet syrup)

4.5 stars My parents tried this place years ago and thought it was good, so now it was my turn. We got there shortly after 5 on Thursday and the place started filling up quickly. The owner (my friend knew the owner and he told the story of how he split off from Curry Leaf) and staff were friendly. It took a little while to wait in between each course. I started off with a mango lassi ($3.99 - sweet and thick like a smoothie). We started off with the vada pav appetizer ($5.99 - a fried potato that you could taste a lot of saffron, stuffed in a roll, and served with several chutneys. We went with the garlic naan (4 pieces for $3.99) and split the butter chicken (savory and not too spicy). It came in a silver bowl with a side of rice. Even with splitting some of the butter chicken, I still had enough for 3 more lunches after that. We got two paper dosas $14.99), so the owner had to bring up another table to put it on. It was served with a sambar (a red lentil based soup), a coconut mint chutney, tomato chutney (that tasted like ketchup, and my favorite - the potato masala. The dosa was light and not too filling after a lot of food already. We each got a gulab jamun for dessert (4.99), which came out quickly and had two little donut holes served with a sweet syrup. 2025 #41

the service was great and kind . everything came out hot and fresh . i will say we went on a sunday so i don't know if it was just due to that day but i didn't see a dinner buffet. i will say if your a naan person order about double the servings because one order dosnt give many it is cut up in multiple pieces but the they are small portions about size of my hand . The food was good and great as left overs . Only con is that it is ofc americanized . and compared to other indian food places in town i will say i wish it had more flavor . not necessary spice but actual flavor . i went with friends and it was about $25 each so not bad prices . they all said 5/5 stars . i will say personally as someone who has eaten indian food their whole lives and have eaten at multiple places and states ill give it a 3/5 . but overall would go again .

An assortment from their buffet. Fish, chicken tandoori, butter chicken, rice, Sag Paneer. Tomato soup!

Our favorite Indian restaurant in Albuquerque. Late in making reservations for Valentine's Day, we could have ended up at Tacobell instead. Not dissing TB, it's another of my faves especially when traveling. I know what I'm going to get. Anyways, N&D set up their buffet for the night because last year, folks ordered from the menu and had to wait 1 1/2 hr for their meals. The buffet was a brilliant idea! Kudos! I loved the music that played in the background that was not intrusive, as music in a restaurant should be. Dessert was a sampling. (Sorry, not pictured) PS there was a line of folks waiting for takeout. Very popular as well.

Another Indian cuisine restaurant that came highly recommended. So here we are - in time for the buffet. It's busy for past lunch time. We were seated quickly and buffet explained. They had a large selection of vegan & gluten free entrees. But we are carnivores so we got the meat. Goat Curry, Butter Chicken & Tandoori Chicken atop basmati rice. Naan is served separately - regular or garlic . Each dish came nicely seasoned, not overpowering. The Goat Curry was tender - cut with a butter knife. The Butter Chicken came shredded and was equally tender. The Tandoori was not as dry as other places we've tried - it's always some level of dry. Service was good - dirty plates removed in a timely manner and drinks refilled. Quality of the food matched the cost.

The new entrance remodel gave it a bit more class, with the interior being quite casual, spacious, ordered, and pristine. The service has consistently been great. Every single one of the staff members has been nice, attentive, timely, and quite forgiving when we make a mess spilling water. And the food is always flavorful, delicious, delightful, and comforting. The spice level can be specified and they deliver with the right amount of spice. This time we ordered the chicken vindaloo and the lamb mango curry with basmati rice and both bullet naan and garlic naan. The chicken vindaloo was at a hot level that gave some considerable and delicious heat with harmonizing spices. The lamb mango curry had very tender lamb chunks, with a sweet curry that has no equal. It was mild so I could have the full sweetness with a bit of spice. The basmati rice is always a nice break from spice. The bullet naan is fully topped with Serrano peppers in case you want even more heat. The garlic naan is equally full of garlic, fragrant, and neutral to find a break from the heat. Overall, this is a favorite of ours to get nice heat, comforting flavors, and a cozy and friendly place to spend some time.

Hubs and kids were out of town, so my mama and I went on an adventure. I thought it would be best to try an Indian food buffet so I could try bites of everything and not be stuck with something I might not have liked. We were seated right away, given a pitcher of water, and told we could help ourselves to the buffet. I got a spoonful of everything between 2 plates. There wasn't anything I didn't like on the buffet, so that was a huge plus. I really enjoyed a slightly sweet carrot dish--and of course I don't remember what it was called. I really REALLY enjoyed the saag paneer and the navrattan korma. I went back and got two bowls of each. Upon entering, I was a little confused about the clothing on display for sale right at the door. I worried that I went into the wrong place, but the smell of spices let me know I was at the right place. The "restaurant side" seemed to be a little more fancy than the buffet side of the dining area, but that didn't matter to us.

The host and servers were very attentive, a bit on the shy side but very nice. The options for lunch included multiple vegetarian and non vegetarian options, with all the naan you could wish for! I had some butter chicken, tandoori chicken, goat, a stuffed pastry, breaded vegetables, and rice, with mango creme custard for desert. My favorite was the butter chicken because it was smooth and tasty. The tandoori chicken had good flavor but was a bit dry. The goat was too oily for my taste but was tender, with good flavor. The stuffed pastry was interesting; I think the stuffing was filled with minced tandoori chicken and pickled carrots. The mango custard was liquid but the flavor was a glorious ending to the meal. Overall, this was a decent experience with multiple options. Even though the non-vegetarian dishes were a bit oily, they had good flavor. I'm still interested in à la carte menu for another time.

I had the butter chicken which came with basmati rice, with a side of garlic naan and bullet naan. The butter chicken was very tasty and I had no complaints. Server accidentally dropped a spoon from the goat curry, which was fine- but the Second Gentleman who came to clean it up, used a pink/orange cleaning rag on the floor. All of clean plates were stacked on a shelf, which people walk by, and the bottom level had visible dust bunnies popping on there. The somosas favor was out of this world good. Which is devastating since I can't picture ever returning. There was also a 30 minute wait after the somosas were delivered until the curry arrived. We had been the only customer for most of that time, but somehow a table of 3 that got there after our somasas were delivered, got their entire meal delivered before we did? Our server was trying.
