One of the best meals I've had in a while! There was definite nothing left over. I can't wait to eat here again.

Yesterday we popped in on a whim and found it was one of the evenings that Curry Leaf does a buffet. One of the things that's really wonderful about this restaurant is - not only is the food wonderfully flavorful and of top quality; these folks can COOK - you find many dishes here you don't run across in most of the "cater to the lowest common denominator" Indian restaurants. At Curry Leaf, you'll find both northern and southern dishes. And if you go when there's a buffet, you'll find the dishes actually _change_ - and there are a variety of them, and they're cerebral. (Ever see aamrakhand on a buffet before? I never have - and this mango/saffron pudding is haunting my taste buds' memory this morning.) Yes, you'll find the classics well represented, but I've never seen goat chettinad on a buffet anywhere else in the US. I'm past the age of eat-until-I-can't-move, but the buffet at Curry Leaf was so good that it's the next morning and I already have a hankering to return. Oh! And I forgot to add that the tiny fried green chile for the sandwiches was the tastiest green chile this New Mexican has had so far this year! Ah, and the dosas are just wonderful - quite a variety - and included with the buffet (so are the naan). Curry Leaf also has a good variety of beers and some wines. Service is polite and friendly and omnipresent without being intrusive in a comfortable room where a group, a couple or a few friends can always find seating. If you've not tried Curry Leaf, you're missing out.

I've tried several other dishes that have wonderful depth to them and are extremely well made. You can tell the dishes are made with passion for the craft. The service is fantastic. I really appreciate the care that is shown for every table that comes in, by every employee. I've had a few people taking care of me at each of my visits and all of them have made me feel welcome and taken care of. I always leave with leftovers, extremely satisfied with my meal, and feel valued as a customer. What any dining experience should be.

If you have been reading my other reviews on yelp or Google you know my philosophy is that…read moresometimes you go to a restaurant and the food isn't that great or maybe it's awful. It a situation like that, barring getting ill or having the meal be too expensive, I always say, give it another try. Cooks and Chefs have bad days/nights just like all of us. So if you can, try giving the place a second chance. However, if the wait staff is bad. They ignore you, they're rude, or if they are mean there's really no reason to go back. Those people represent the customer facing side of business and if they don't care, what does that say about the rest of the place? I can already hear some of you saying hey, they have bad days too. You're right but in sales (I've been there) you have to work it out one way or another. It can suck but whether you feel it or not you are an extremely important cog in that machine. Well, let me tell you at Royal Hyderabad on Juan Tabo, every single time I go there they care about the food and experience. They are fantastic start to end. The last time I went I got there very early to pick up my food. They offered me a seat, brought me tea, and the woman at the front struck up a conversation with me. It was friendly, nice, and in my experience of the wonderful culture. About 15 minutes later my food was ready. The woman handed me the bag. She looked at her watch, then the bag. I took the bag thanked her and wished her a good evening. I walked out the door smiling to the other customers. I was outside when it hit me that I was WAY too early pick up my food and there were several other people in line. How could they finish my food so quickly? I stopped turned around, and the woman came running outside and asked me if I could just come with her inside and wait. She noticed my name remembered who I was on. The phone asked me if I was told my food was going to take a while and she said she wanted to check my bag just to be on the safe side. She didn't think the kitchen was running that fast. Well, she was right. I had a different order and the people in the back had just made a mistake. It was just a simple miscommunication, but instead of letting me leave, she came all the way outside as I was walking to the parking lot she stopped me, asked me to come back in and helped me. She then immediately went to the back, explained what it happened and one of the chef said he would make it right and he did he had my food out in just a couple of minutes. Was recognized the person there cared enough to come get me they thanked me. They admitted to a simple mistake. They fixed the problem. Everybody was smiling at the end, and all the other customers got to see it and quite frankly, they looked impressed because they all probably know how many times they've walked out of a restaurant with an incomplete or incorrect order and nobody cared. As I have likely said before, try Royal Hyderabad on Juan Tabo. Remember that if you can't handle hot food and I mean well beyond New Mexico hot food try medium or mild. The food is delicious and I've never ever not enjoyed anything that I've tried. And the people who work there seem to really care about their clientele and treat them so nice.

The tandoori chicken especially had an amazing smoky flavor and looked awesome coming out still sizzling at the table. The portions were generous and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The menu has a lot of authentic South Indian options, and you can tell they put a lot of care into the food. Albuquerque definitely needed a spot like this, and I can see why so many people recommend it for Indian food in town. A couple small things I think could make the experience even better: the drink selection was pretty limited since they only offered Coke, water, and juice. It would be nice to see more variety. Also, they had music playing in the restaurant, but it was so low you could barely hear it, so the atmosphere could feel a little more lively with the volume turned up. If that changed I'd give them a five star. Overall though, the food and service were both great and I'd definitely come back!

My dad grabbed the classic smash with a chicharron. My brother went with the 505 green chili burque smash. When I saw the other sandwiches on separate posters by the order window I was torn between the 505 or the Al Gueye Lucy. I asked the cashier which one they thought was better and they suggested the Al Guey Lucy smash. I said orale! Let's do it! We sat at the tables under the tent. It was nice shade for such a hot afternoon. The burgers were out hot n fresh! The Lucy was juicy with just the right amount of spice! It had a zesty kick you just can't forget. I absolutely loved it! My dad and brother enjoyed theirs as well. The fries reminded me of the fries at Bob's Burgers. They were really good! Overall it was a great experience! I'll definitely be returning! No mames! Si! I must say, it was significantly better to my taste The pickles were gone, but there was still this unusual taste that I really couldn't place. It tasted almost like pickles in the background, but I'm not sure what it was. Suffice to say, the burger was very good. Was it the best burger I've ever had? No. Sadly, that honor goes to Pete's Frites, and he hung it up after ruining all of us who got to try his burger masterpieces before disappearing. But I digress. No Mames treated me like I mattered. They took my opinions and wishes seriously. I am very impressed. The owner and his wife genuinely wanted me to enjoy my experience with their food, and I must say I did. Their tireless efforts to make me a happy customer are very rare, and they should be commended. I had fries this time, and they are the thin, more crispy variety, which are my favorite. I also received a Serrano sauce and a flavored oil "sauce," which I was told they serve with their chicharrones, I believe. I kinda liked it with the fries. I'm upping the rating to 5 stars, because for me, the food is a very strong 4 stars, but their customer service and care for their craft makes it an easy 5 stars. Go pay this place a visit and let them know what you think of their food. They actually listen and will make adjustments. That's a customer's dream.
