Garlic Naan

We've ordered from this location several times. We've ordered a variety of their dishes in the past but tonight we ordered the Garlic Naan Bread, Chana Masala, Palak Paneer, Butter Chicken and Tikka Masala. It was all flavorful, but I feel like the containers were not as full as they have been in the past. The Butter Chicken had small sized diced chicken and the Tikka Masala had bigger chunks of chicken. We are a family of 4 and I normally get 2 servings for each of us out of their meals but tonight we had hardly any left from the order we placed. The sauces are delicious! I can eat that alone with the Basmati Rice. I was a bit disappointed on the lack of chicken in the main dishes as there was an abundance more of the sauce than the protein. Overall, it was a good dinner for our family.

Curry Gate 2 on South Blvd, Charlotte

Tasty and delicious, we are slowly eating our way through Charlotte's South Asian restaurants. Curry Gate 2 was a hit. This time, we're eating at dinner time so with my chicken curry and my wife's vegetarian curry, we were able to enjoy the garlic and chilli naan. Good sized portions and the spice levels worked well here. For us 2 and 3 were just right for some burn but enough that we could still taste the flavor. Of course, half of it went home in containers because there's quite a lot. Friendly service, clean restaurant, good food. It's five stars. This place has been on my bucket list for a while now so I'm so glad I was finally able to give it a try and I was not disappointed! They have both Indian and Nepalese dishes, but for our visit, my friends and I got the Indian dishes (chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, and chana masala) with some garlic and butter naan on the side. Two side portions of rice were brought out for us to share as well. Everything was super delicious and flavorful. I like how you can customize the spice levels and it'll definitely add some heat so proceed with caution. I also thought that everything was decently portioned. I only finished about half of my tikka masala dish and had the other half to take home. Our server was Puja, and she was super sweet! Very attentive and efficient as well. She thoroughly explained the spice levels and answered any questions that we had. She made sure we were well taken care of! If you're looking for Indian or Nepalese food in the area, definitely give Curry Gate a try as you will not be disappointed. I can't wait to return to try other dishes!

Tikka Masala & Butter/Makhani Chicken

This was my first time eating at this location and it didn't disappoint! I typically get the Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken as my top choices for Indian food. The mango lassi was good if you like yogurt and mango. This will taste a bit sour. The service was fast and the staff were friendly. Ambiance is chill and causal. If you're in the south blvd area check them out!

Food is AMAZING!!! Stumbled across this place while killing time and stopped in for a bit. My favorite is the chicken tikka masala with rice and a side of garlic naan. Everything came out in a timely manner, hot and well prepared. The service was ok, wasn't too busy today. The ambiance is also pretty decent, nothing spectacular to really tell about. It is clean inside and plenty seating.

We found this gem, and let me tell you--it was amazing! As empty nesters, we love trying top-rated restaurants, and Curry Gate 2 did not disappoint. We didn't feel like cooking, so we decided to check it out, and we're so glad we did. If you're a lover of curry and spicy food, this is your spot! We went in person to order takeout and were immediately greeted by the most delicious aroma. The gentleman at the register was incredibly helpful, making sure we got the perfect spice level--not too much, not too light. We ordered the Vindaloo, Korma, Chili Garlic Naan, and Tandoori Chicken--everything was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. Even though the place was packed, the service was great, and everything ran smoothly. Next time, we'll definitely be dining in because this place deserves to be fully enjoyed! Curry Gate 2 is a gem that should not be overlooked.

Food was amazing! Everything was cooked well and was perfectly spiced. It was really disappointing that you had to purchase bottled water. The food is spicy and like to have lots of water. I didn't want to have to purchase multiple bottles. I think they would greatly benefit by adding fountain drinks. The service was standard, nothing special. The restaurant was clean and inviting. Next time I will definitely order take out.

THE FOOD WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! I had the lamb curry and I loved it, food was full of flavor. The place is spotless clean and our server was very friendly and helpful when we placed our order. We are definitely going back

Bhindi Masala

Compared to the original, the second Curry Gate is a bit more of a restaurant with traditional table service. It's nothing fancy; it looks like a repurposed Pizza Hut, but the food they're producing is vastly better than the Hut, and the smell wafts over to the train station nearby. My mulligatawny soup had some delightful green peas to liven it up. My okra, however, was really lively due to me getting 8/10 on the spice scale. I like chili peppers as much as the next guy, but I didn't want to go any spicier than that, as an 8/10 was plenty enough to clear my sinuses. An abundance of vegan options are available, as are some Nepali specialties. Drink options are limited, and they're bringing out a bottled water for free for some reason, but you'll not likely find better food of this sort in this area.

Can we bring our own beer & wine? Do they take reservations?

We tried a couple of their appetizers (chicken was recommended by the staff), and we loved it. Flavorful and well cooked. They custom made fried rice for my kids (if you've been following my reviews you'd know my kids love their rice at the restaurants), and fried rice was so tasty - my husband and I couldn't help ourselves from eating their rice. Chicken curry was delicious too - well balanced spices. My husband asked for high spice level on Dal and they delivered, it was yummy! My toddler loved the garlic naan and downed a good portion of it - yay! Their tamarind whisky sour was yum yum! My only complain is the service of appetizers. We requested papad for a quick bite and they didn't deliver until the brought rest of the appetizers. On our second order of papad again, they came so late we had to turn it down. But manager at duty took note of it and acknowledged the delay (that's a sign of a great service, hence a 5 star). Overall a good find for us - we will be back.

The last couple of times I've been was with my work group. We ordered several items for our table and then we also ordered entrées. Each time I visited this location everything is very nice and clean and the food as spicy as it is is very well seasoned and tasty. All of the sauces and curry creams were cooked to perfection hot in temperature not too hot to enjoy. Our servers were very kind and patient and courteous to us as we made our decisions. They also made perfect combination for our selections. And the best selections for drinks and desserts. Since then, I've even ordered on Uber eats and my food came just as perfect. This is a great go to place for good Indian food. If you're in the uptown area it's located below the Green parking lot, which is across from the Knight theater. The menu offers a variety of options. We started with fried broccoli as appetizers- the sweetness driven by honey was good. Butter chicken was recommended and we also had a chef's lamb. Both were pretty tasty but I would go with butter chicken if I had to choose. Mango lassi has cream and cherry - can tell it's fusion, nice for photos but really unnecessary. Spicy level is very mild. Range 1-5, I cannot taste any spicy when we ordered a 3. Recommend to go with higher levels if you want a real spicy dish. Also, T-mobile has barely any signal in the restaurant. AT&T and Verizon work fine.

We asked for off the menu item for our kids - that was fried rice, and chef accommodated our request. That's nice of them. Fried rice was actually tasty and our kids enjoyed picking all the veggies and eating them first! Chicken 65 was tasty. Chicken chettinadu wasn't the best we had. I feel they have customized the menu to suit American pallet more, which is fair for the location it sits in. Service was fast and server was polite too. Wasn't really busy when we went - we were the first table to be occupied and by the time we left there were 2 more tables occupied. So plenty of space if you are looking to try a new restaurant without the wait in south end!
