Food was ready under 10 minutes and it was absolutely delicious. The potato salad, mac and cheese, the pork with the sauce was all 5/5. Usually I'm picky with cornbread but this was yummy! Very moist and flavorful. Outdoor area was adorable, plenty of seating area, and staff were very friendly. Best BBQ in the obx!!!

I don't know if it was her guidance or my wife decisions, but we ordered way too much food. At any rate, we had chicken, ribs and pork, with coleslaw, potato salad beans, and mac&cheese for sides.. All it was very good, particularly the mac & cheese. We had a lot left over, but managed to clean it up over the next couple of days. This is an outdoor walk up, with outdoor tables only. The line can be fairly long, so keep that in mind if you haven't ordered ahead.

The lemonade was made on the spot to ensure freshness. I got the fried fish of the day, which happened to be flounder. It came with two side, I got the cucumber salad and pasta salad. Also ordered the BBQ Platter with fries and coleslaw. Both plates came with cornbread. They were great! Wanted to try as many sides as possible and was not disappointed. Got a brownie to go because their dessert case is strategically by the register to pay out. I was already entirely too full because the flounder was the size of my head, but everything in the dessert case looked way too enticing! There were so many pies... pecan, coconut, peanut butter. I would've got a pie if I wasn't headed to the beach. Brownie is being saved for later after a big ole nap in the sun.

The food was an OK. My pulled pork had a smoky taste but was definitely dry. In a state known for pork BBQ, this was average at best. The slaw, however, tasted very fresh and was not mayonnaisey ; I liked it. The hand-cut fries were OK, but would have been excellent if they had been hot. My dining companion's burger was cooked as requested and she thought it was very good. Service was OK, but definitely not overly attentive. Compared to prices down the road in Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head, the restaurant is a good value. Based on our experience, BJ's Carolina Cafe mainly caters to a local crowd. All in all, it's fine, especially if it's nearby or on your way to/from Outer Banks.

It felt like it was authentic Carolina BBQ. I wasn't a fan of the "yankee BBQ" sauce, but the Carolina BBQ was very delicious. Only down falls: - sitting inside is all open windows so there was no escape from the heat (but survivable) - bathrooms didn't have a changing table.

I ordered the Baja Burrito, and my fiancé got the Blackened Bleu Bacon Burger. Unfortunately, we both felt our meals were lacking in flavor. My burrito wasn't bad, but it definitely needed more salt (ironic for a place called Pass the Salt!) and some kind of sauce. It just felt a little bland and like it was missing something. The chips and salsa were tasty, although I wish we had been given more salsa. The burger was also underwhelming. The fries were good, but nothing particularly special. The service was friendly, which we appreciated. However, we felt the prices were too high for the quality of the food. The atmosphere is charming, but overall, we left feeling like the meal wasn't worth the price.

Dave's is one of those establishments that you order your food at the counter, the jalapeño sausages were my favorite on the 757 sandwich. Their dining area is perfect for a quick bite, they sell merchandise and home made desserts, in fact most of their food is homemade. Only reason for not giving 5 stars was I thought the pulled pork was dry and unseasoned. They have a variety of sauces at the table to try. Dave's is definitely a solid choice if looking for BBQ close to the beach.

BLUF: Great seafood and even better entertainment provided by the ICW…read more Coinjock Marina never disappoints. Pro tip - sit at the bar outside and have a front row seat to action on the Intracoastal Waterway. The outside tables have an obstructed view due to the high top bar. The food at Coinjock Marina is always good. On my most recent visit I got the blackened grouper sandwich which was tasty. It's a thin filet on a hoagie roll so I cut half the roll off and folded the grouper over to increase my fish to bread ratio. Service was attentive and friendly. The highlight for me is always seeing the boats parade through the ICW. I don't know if I've just been lucky but on my visits I've been fortunate enough to see super yachts there. Most recently it was the 110' Morningstar yacht and watching it hold position in the canal before surging forward to move to the bulkhead was fascinating. It was already high tide and this vessel single-handedly sloshed water out of the ICW. It reminded me of when I do a cannonball in the pool. For those not wanting to sit outside, there is an indoor dining room and full bar. As far as I know, the marina still offers other services like fuel and laundry. During the height of the busy beach season the market is crowded and can be a bit overwhelming. But on the bright side, they are reliable for having clean, well appointed bathrooms.
