We called the old company that we worked with before ( Bob Oliver) when we called we instead got the company that bought him out. We were pleasantly surprised!! The owner himself came out right away. He quickly ordered a part for our furnace and installed it the next day. He was knowledgeable, polite, personable and professional. He didnt price gouge like sooooo many companies do. Our experience with Bob was so bad that I have to come on here and add more...I wish I would have done more homework on this guy. He's ended up costing us hundreds more (possibly thousands - we'll find out tomorrow). He's a "friend of a friend" and he installed a new AC and Heater in a rental unit my brother and I own. I paid in full, immediately. But like previous reviews Bob did not complete the MidAmerican rebate paperwork in a timely fashion. Over the course of MONTHS I called him and emailed him - to no avail. Finally, we called him every 5 minutes until he picked up...took about 5 attempts. He promised he would fill out the paperwork and send it in, but after another month we had nothing and no communication from Bob. Finally, after about a total of 4 months I connected with a newly hired admin. She said that they had the paperwork completed (and apologized, to her credit), but they just hadn't submitted it. After 6 months we finally got our rebate. But it gets better...we started having issues with our brand new heater. So we called Bob to let him know and he scheduled a time with the tenant to come out. He never called us back or returned our phone calls to let us know what he did to the heater. Our tenants let us know that they were still having an issue so we called Bob again. Again he went out and "did something," but did not tell us what he did. The 3rd time the tenants let us know that the heater was still not working properly we called Bob and he said, "I don't do business with you." I let him know that he cashed a check with our names on it and we've been talking to him the entire time. He said, "I don't know about that. But I don't do business with you." Totally fine with us. We ended up calling Holt (GREAT COMPANY!) and within 4 hours they provided me with more information than Bob did in months. The short version - Holt let us know that replacing parts was just a waste of time - the unit was fine. That particular unit probably should have never been installed given our house's exhaust system (which Bob should have been well aware of). So in the end, it's costing us more (a lot more) to get the house heated properly and we will never use Bob Oliver again. read more

I hired this company to replace a dehumidifier on my furnace last year. Ended up costing me more than I had planned, but not a bad experience. Called Bob recently to replace a leek from the bottom of a toilet. Employee showed up, did the job in 20 - 25 minutes by replacing water supply to toilet with new tubing. Stopped leaking. Then he gave me the bill - $330!!!! Doing the math, $10 for the tubing, $90 trip charge leaves $400 an hour to do the job!!!! I called Bob Oliver Heating and AC and told them I will never do business with them again. I don't have a problem paying a fair price for good service, but this charge is ludicrous. T. E. They were scheduled to be at our apartment at 2pm, and called at 1:30 to say they were running late. Sounds promising, right? At least we were informed. We were told they'd be here between 3-5. By 5:15 with no calls and no HVAC guy, we called them. Then began the "who is this?" game with us being passed around via phone and no answers or repairs. Not sure what happened, but I certainly didn't plan on taking an afternoon off work and missing an evening meeting because Bob Oliver can't get his act together. read more

Hired bob for some hvac work.. he started tues the 4th 2017. He did a really great job and walked me through every step. Always returned my calls and was very professional. I wouldn't recommend this company though because he is not consistent and doesn't diagnose problems correctly. Go else where for hvac needs or go with him and have a continuous headache. read more

One of our worst experiences occurred with Bob Oliver Heating and Cooling. We used them back in April to fix our air conditioner $600 later our air conditioner was still making the same noise. Had them come back last Thursday, it wasn't cooling. The technician was on the phone with someone else telling him what to do the entire time. Took our air conditioner apart and then told us our compressor was bad, $150-$200 fix. He also told is that their would likely be something else wrong that would need to be fixed and would need a full Freon charge and would end up costing us a minimum total of around $500. From this statement I think he knew their was a leak and was just trying to get extra money from us by saying compressor was bad. We didn't have this guy do anything with the air conditioner and got a second opinion from Bell Brothers. They came out and looked at it the same day, three hours later. Informed us that the guy from Bob Oliver's put only 2 screws back that holds the cover on to the compressor and left the screws all over the ground. He also informed us that Bob Oliver's technician wired it wrong when he put it back together and the guy from Bell Brothers was Shocked that he did this. We also found a cap to what holds the Freon thrown on the top of our garage, this is all very scary due to the fact that we have kids and one of them could have been hurt form the neglect. The Diagnostic from Bell Brother was actually a leak in the tube where the Freon runs and was fixed that night. The compressor was fine. Our air conditioner is running now. Bob Oliver, either gave us the wrong diagnoses because they wanted our money or didn't know what they were doing. Also when you call around and compare their prices they are a lot more than other company's. Lastly, when you call about a concern the receptionist Crystal will argue with you and not listen to what you say and says, "I stand behind my guys work". Therefore even if they mess up they will not take responsibility for it. DO NOT GO THROUGH BOB OLIVER THEY ARE THEY WORST AND THEY ALSO DON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK. read more

Bob and the team do excellent work on all my properties. Not only to they install excellent equipment, their service calls are quick and affordable. Bob has also done work on my commercial building. I have worked with many other contractors and bob ranks at the top for reliability. read more

They were the only company out of 5 that was actually able to diagnose the issue with my rheem a/c unit. Part was still under warranty with Rheem so he got the part directly from them and installed it in less time than i was originally told it would take. After two seasons arguing with other repair men and hundreds of dollars having other companies come tell me there is nothing wrong because of Bob i can now turn my a/c on and leave it on. :) read more

I can't understand how a company with so many negative and even scary local reviews can be rated A+. People are probably not aware of BBB ratings. Too bad. Bob Oliver should be out of this business long time ago. In my story, I needed to replace a fireplace leaking gas valve. I started to shop around for a fixer. I only chose companies that provide free estimate. My first estimate was $450. It was high because the fireplace manufacturer was out of business for a long time. I looked for more opinions and called couple of other companies from our homeowners association vendors preferred list, including Calvert Heating and Cooling, which was known to me from my previous fireplace repair experience. So I called Calvert HVAC and the lady who answered said that the previous guy retired and the company was bought by Bob Oliver. My first and usual question was if they provided free estimates and she said "yes". It is important for the further story. I would not have gone with them without free estimate. So she said "yes" and we set an appointment. Sometime later after looking at the valve Bob Oliver called me and said that the cost of valve and labor would be around $650 and that he was ready to do the work. Obviously, I said that I have a better estimate and I would go with the other company. At this point he became aggressive and said that he already ordered the valve and that no one else can do the job right except him. I said no. He was very mad and was yelling that I would come back to him anyway. When I called back the first company (Fireplace and BBQ center), they said that they didn't have that estimate anymore (2 or 3 months since the first estimate) and needed to take a look at the fireplace again. When their technician came to look at it, he found out that the valve and surrounding parts were missing and the gas hose was just laying down. He was literally in shock and said that it was very inappropriate and unprofessional to leave the gas line like this. He said he needed the valve itself and other parts to do the estimate and order a new one. I started to call Bob Oliver but he wouldn't return my calls. I gave him 5 or 6 calls and left numerous messages to call me back. Every time I spoke with one of two ladies (who were very nice BTW) and explained the situation. Finally I told one of them that he could not take the valve without letting me know and that he should bring the valve back to where he took it from, otherwise I would consider it stealing. After that he called me immediately and started yelling at me. I calmly said that I didn't even know that he took my valve and that I needed him to return it. He said that he knew I would call back and that I owed him for diagnostics (what diagnostics if the valve should be simply replaced?), so I needed to come to his place and pick up the valve. I told him that according to his receptionist, the estimate was free and that he needed to bring the valve back. He was disagreeing and was very rude during all conversation. Meanwhile, I asked Fireplace and BBQ center to come again (this time not for free, of course) and look at my other unit's fireplace valve (which is the same as the other one) to figure out if they can order it without getting the valve stolen by Bob Oliver. The technician said that he now saw the valve but he would need some other parts that were taken by Bob Oliver along with the valve. I explained the whole situation to them and they suggested to call Bob Oliver themselves and request the valve (I really appreciated that). They called Bob Oliver and Bob Oliver said they could come and pick up the valve at his place. But when the technician came to his place, Bob Oliver said that he would return the valve only after he's paid for his estimate. So, not only Bob Oliver has a bad professional record, but he is destroying the reputation of a good company (Calvert HVAC) and should be known to everybody as a dishonest and not recommended. As for Bob Oliver himself, I don't understand how such a person with very aggressive and rude mentality can work in the service sector. On my part, I will do everything to let people know about him and his attitude towards customer (even if they are only potential customers). I already talked to some of my friends handymen and landlords about Bob Oliver and at least two of them knew him and had similar experience with him. I think, BBB should check Bob Oliver's local reviews (e.mg. Yelp) and reconsider Bob Oliver's rating. read more

We have used them twice. They installed a new AC and fixed an issue with the drain line (from the AC) for us. Both times they were prompt and provided excellent service. They came out in a matter of hours and fixed the problems with minimal delay. read more

Do not hire this guy. I paid him thousands to install a commercial HVAC system on my building. Not only was it installed wrong (wired backwards) and nearly caused a fire, he did not install the system I paid for, he installed a cheaper unit. read more
