He gave us his best price right up front and No hard-sell! On install day, Curtis & Brody & Drae were very professional, took all precautions to keep the house clean and did excellent work. They made sure we knew everything about our new system before they left. We love our new Amana furnace and AC and our new Rheem water heater! At our request they also installed an Ecobee Smart thermostat, an iWave R 4900-20 air purification system and Aprilaire 700 Humidifier. I definitely recommend this family owned business! My one & only critique was that I think the guy could have notified me of the price for the job a little earlier before he did too much work. The price was really fair though, $318 after tax to replace capacitor & no extra charge to come out. I looked online and they run around $60-$300. My unit is 21 years old so that price is on the low-end, but still seems very fair too me. Highly recommend!

Corbin who initially came and talked to us was the most knowledgeable of the people we spoke with. Daren, Josh, and Thomas who came on the installation day were on time, polite, and efficient. They explained what they did and explained the system. Our home was left spotless. I was also thankful they were very good about did not harming my plants with the installation.     Signed up for their maintenance plan last fall. They checked my furnace, all good. This spring I…read morescheduled a maintenance call for my air conditioner. I told the repairman that I had turned it on once and I had no cooling. He checked inside, no problem. Went outside, took the cover off surrounding the air conditioner and immediately could see the problem. My dog had urinated on the corner repeatedly which ate away at everything and corroded the pipes that hold the refrigerant. He said he had to order the parts and it would be $3000 to fix. After 8 days I called and was scheduled for the repair. I never received a written estimate for the repair. Was never told the maintenance call was now a diagnostic call or that I would be charged. Never received a bill for this either. The repairman said it could take up to 4 hours to get it fixed. It took 2.5 hours. I paid and asked for a receipt, was told it would be emailed to me. After 4 days, I called as I had not gotten my receipt. It was promptly sent over. I was charged for 4 hours of work when it only took him 2.5 hours. I immediately called back and explained the overcharge. I was put on hold for over 15 minutes. Then I was told yes, the repair took 2.5 hours, but the additional time charged was from the earlier maintenance calll. I said that was already paid for as I was on their plan. Was told no, since it turned out to be a diagnostic call, not a maintenance call, I was being charged. I said he didnt diagnose anything, once the cover was taken off it was obvious what the problem was. She doubled down on her explanation. I had never been told this, never received a bill for this. I feel i was overcharged for the repair and they were simply making an excuse for the overcharge. I promptly cancelled any further maintenance from this company and will never use them again. ​

    We moved to Des Moines and bought a new home. Our A/C was having trouble cooling our home from the…read morebeginning. It was getting worse so we needed to get a company out to look at our Unit. We liked the name, "Golden Rule". We thought we a name like that they would be a Good company to deal with. We had them to come out and fix our 4 treat old A/C. The builder went cheap and put in a 3.5 ton unit when it should have been a 4 ton. It was being server over worked to cool our house. I knew it needed a Freon charge. That sometimes means you have an A-coil or line leak. I get it. The two tech's that came out said they would not recharge the system because we needed an entire new unit. They said it would run over $7,000.00 and they would work up an exact estimate for me. I asked them how much I owed them right now for the service call. They told me $100. I said I thought that was a might steep for them to come out and not really do anything but tell me I needed to pay approximately $7,000 for a new until. I gave them a check and I told them to get out. I called another company that came out and done what I wanted them to do. Recharge my unit. They did it and my unit ran another 3 years before I had to have it replaced. I called them again when I could afford a new unit. They came out and installed a proper 4.5 ton unit and charged me $4,500. No problems since. Golden Ruke is good at training their tech's at extracting as much money as possible from the clients and not at repairing the problems. I called the company and complained after the giving the two tech's my $100.00 check for basically doing nothing to fix our problem on a very hot day. They apologized and refunded our money. To be fair this was my only experience with this company and it was a number of years ago. They may have changed management or owners since then. All I can recommend is buyer beware. Good luck with any repairs you need and get other opinions and quotes before getting worked done.
