    Margherita pizza blechh

Granted I was using the bar side of restaurant...it was pretty terrible. Ordered Margherita pizza and garlic shrimp. Not sure which was worse. Flavorless and pricey. Desperately needed food since I was staying at W. Never again.

I had three meals here while staying at the W Hotel Lakeshore Breakfast: granola & yogurt $7 I'm pretty sure this was some regular brand of store bought granola with nothing but oats (plain & sugary) Thick Greek yogurt was okay. Lunch: grilled chicken sandwich with grain salad $12/$13? The sandwich lacked flavor (not even salt), good amount of avocado. I asked for extra harissa Grain salad was flavorless, quinoa, arugula Dinner: scallops with cauliflower $24/$27? The scallops were undercooked lacking a crust. The cauliflower however was delicious. Bar: $11 Malbec was nice, TV's for sports Staff was great & attentive. Clean dining areas but cold & drafty.

This restaurant in located inside the W lakeshore hotel . When making my reservation I assumed the restaurant would be at the very top floor of the hotel ..in the circular restaurant . Anyway the rooftop space is only available for events . The actual restaurant is on the main floor of the hotel facing Lake Michigan . There was a dj playing and later a live band ... and just a few of us having dinner . The hostess and wait staff were super friendly and helpful . Our server said they had a new chef and recommended some items that weren't on the menu yet : we ended up choosing an octopus dust for me friend and spaetzle for me as my vegetarian entree . Both were delicious and full of flavor .

Staying here for work and had the breakfast buffet here. The food was good quality, but nothing really wowed me about the food, at least at the breakfast buffet. Had the typical eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, oatmeal. They did have smoked salmon, which was a plus, but nothing that an elaborate breakfast buffet would feature.

    Spaghetti and Meatballs

Easily the worst food i've ever had in Chicago. The alfredo tasted like butter mixed with cream. No flavor at all except the mushrooms that tasted like dirt. Everything was very bland. The spaghetti looked good, but had very little flavor. The margarita pizza had big soggy tomatoes on it. $10 for the tiniest side salad i've ever seen. Do not recommend.

The food after I ate it. Sorry--it was that good!!!

I'm staying at the hotel attached to the Current in the midst of this pandemic, and was starving so just came down for a snack and a drink. Staff was so so sweet--admitted they'd JUST reopened and were still familiarizing themselves with the new menu but friendly and talkative and made recommendations and even people-watched with me with things were slow.. Katie was my server. They also laughed at my jokes, which I'm pretty sure they felt obligated to do, but nonetheless this also made me happy. So I ordered the cheese and charcuterie board--and let me tell you, I will dream about this for the rest of my life. I wish I thought to take a picture before I consumed everything, but too late. The attached picture is just the remnants. A small toasted loaf, dates, small dill pickles hung out on one plate. The main plate had two different thin cuts of meat rolled up and three distinct types of cheeses. Also don't ask me what kind they were, because I couldn't tell you, but they were amazing and one was sharp and one was creamy and one was a little sweet and they all made me very happy! And then it came with three different toppings. An actual piece of honeycomb, which was amazing and probably pissed off a lot of bees, and two types of spicy/savory sweet jellies. So I just started exploring and mixing the sharp cheese with the sweet honey and the soft bread with a slice of the thin cut meat...The people walking by looked at me weird when they heard me moaning, but it was totally worth it. My drink was refilled before I even needed to ask, Katie came by several times to check on me and I tried to share a piece of the meat with a miniature dachshund wandering past but he wisely looked askance of the strange lady trying to bribe him with meat in exchange for pets (hey--it works for my husband--dont judge. You should see what he'd do for beef jerky. My husband. Not the dog) All in all, a perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon in Chicago with a great staff and fantastic food!!

Current omelet with egg whites and sliced tomatoes

Oh the weather outside was frightful But the hotel was so delightful And since we had no place to go To Current we went for breakfast and Joe! Sorry guys, I couldn't resist ;) My husband and I stayed at the W Lakeshore last weekend and were very pleased with our experience. The weather outside really was a bit frightful... not snow but cold and rain, so we decided to stay in and dine at Current (located in our hotel) for brunch on Saturday. My sister and bro-in-law met us there. David Anthony was our server, and he was also delightful. He was very attentive and had a fun personality. I went with the Current omelet with egg whites and tomato, but also tried my husband's Power smoothie. With all of the eating we were doing that weekend, it felt great to eat some light and healthy food! The others had a kale omelet and a breakfast sandwich... everyone was pleased with their food, which fueled us all up to go out into the cold and the rest of the day! The bar and dinner menu also looked pretty good, especially for it being a hotel restaurant. There are unlimited places to eat and drink in Chicago, but I wouldn't hesitate to return to Current, especially if I am lucky enough to stay at the W Lakeshore again!

10 out of 10 I would highly recommend this place. The food is great. I had a Portabella mushroom burger with fries. The staff are amazing as well

    Filet Minon - don't order

This restaurant is located inside the spacious, nicely decorated W Lakeshore. I am a SPG fan, so I often stay at their hotel. However, their food is never particularly good. I ended up eating here because I was sick and too lazy to go elsewhere. I sat at the bar which had waitresses who are half interested in amending to your needs. It took her 5 minutes to give me a menu. The waitress was nice to other people, though. Chit chat all the way, too chitty chatty she forgot that there are other customers who needs to put in their order. I ordered the following: 1) Corn soup (10/10) - although it is very small and pricy, I really enjoyed this warm, creamy soup. There are 2 pieces of avocado in it and some sour tasting sauce on top which gives it a particular taste that wasn't took bad. I'de recommend this dish. 2) Filet Mignon (4/10) - Medium rare- came out medium, steak was very tough, over cooked, and too salty. I couldn't taste anything else other than salt. There were 5 big pieces of asparagus. I wouldn't recommend this dish. Over all, the experience was alright but the service was just nasty. Ambience - it was around 5:40-6 and it was SOOO noisy, generally because of the consultants/business men that were there trying to network. Gave me a headache. Maybe I'm not a bar type of person, that's probably why.

    Belgium Waffle - delicious.

Great service! Great food. Everyone else leaving poor reviews is drunk. Server was very kind and attentive. The Belgium waffle was light, warm and fluffy. Eggs made to perfection! Fresh food atop was unexpected and sweet and ripe.

I came to Chicago to attend a conference and stayed at the W. my first night here had to eat at their restaurant (Current) I like the convenience of having dinner a few steps away from the hotel room, so decided to give it a try. Had the scallops with a side of mash potato and lemongrass drink. The food was delicious, the drink not so much. Bartender was ok. Not sure if I would recommend as a must do, but it was very convenient.

We were so happy with everything! Our server was wonderful! The entire staff was so friendly and on top of their game! We never waited for anything. They were immediately refilling our waters, offering more bread, removing dirty plates, replacing silverware, and offering the next course. It was perfect! The views!!! I think there's not a table in NoMi that doesn't have an amazing view. The main, large window faces the lake (East). Arriving just at 7, you get the full affect of the city, and lake, and then the sunset and lights of the buildings. It was absolutely magical. I couldn't get enough of it. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and clean, but honestly it could have been a pit and I wouldn't have noticed. You'll be focused on the views for the entire evening. The food!!! Everything is very fresh. It's all well-prepared. Everything was delicious. There's a good variety of dishes to choose from. Plenty of healthy, low-carb options. We each ordered our own appetizers. I had the crispy Maitake mushrooms and my husband had the mussels. We both loved our food and left nothing on our plates. Excellent choices, that we highly recommend. As our main course we shared the sushi platter. The seafood was fresh and the sushi didn't have too much rice. It was the perfect amount of food with our appetizers. They have an extensive wine and drink menu. For drinks I had a glass of the Sauvignon blanc and my husband had a red blend. For dessert we weren't really hungry enough to eat anything else but my husband wanted a pallet cleanser. They have a few sorbets. My husband settled on the cherry cola sorbet. They brought it out with a little chocolate that said "Happy Anniversary" in French. They did not add it to our bill. Very sweet of them. It was probably one of the best anniversaries we've ever had. The bill was about $230 before tip. We highly recommend coming here for any special occasion.

That said, this place just completely disappointed. The food was just not good. I had the burger sliders and for $9 a piece you expect them to be something special. They were not. Overcooked with a little sauce and two pickles slapped on the bun with a tiny little dab of fake cheese - it was like a bad and way more expensive version of McDonald's. The onion rings were the frozen crumbly kind not the fresh beer battered kind and so that's a big "no!" for me. The dipping sauce was okay. Service was friendly and I think the guy was new but it wasn't good enough for a place like that at the top of the building. There were two servers so I'm guessing one was training maybe. They didn't make it to my table to check to see if everything was okay while I was eating and it even took them a while to notice that I was done eating. It's was slow so I don't think they were stressing with too many tables. That kind of place should knock your socks off - but it was on the low end of mediocre. I wouldn't go there again for food. We loved meeting the owner who was chatting with and checking on guests in the dining room. The menu was really creative and sounded amazing, totally up my alley, so was super excited to try Ila's out for the first time. Unfortunately, and it pains me to say this, but the food itself was a miss for me, and the prices felt steep for the portions. We ordered the empanada duo, grilled scallops, birria lamb pierogis, and sweet corn agnolotti, then the Japanese cheesecake and drip coffee. The positives were that everything tasted fresh, and the flavors of the dishes were good ~ especially the empanadas, scallops, and agnolotti. The main issue was the texture of some of the foods. Other than the empanada (which had a great texture and flavor), the agnolotti and pierogi dough were not right ~ thick, rubbery, and dry, which was exacerbated by not having enough consommé for the pierogis. And the coffee - it honestly tasted like Folgers (though I'll give them the benefit of the doubt) - which took me aback as it was a $7 drip coffee. I'm not discounting Ila's and I truly wish them success. But I think there's some work to be done in terms of execution.
