You did not schedule another appointment. You offered and I did not want the times you had available. I texted you within 24hrs to request a date I wanted you simply said"No". This is the first time I've ever given someone 1 star. I moved to North County and was looking for a curly hair stylist close to my new home. I've had so much trouble getting scheduled with Qiana. The first time in January I was sent an email saying my haircut was cancelled. This was a few weeks after booking. I emailed back and was told this was a system error and tried to book again within an hour of getting that email and that date and time were taken. They also told me I needed to send a deposit. This was not something stated in the booking system when I made my appointment. I wrote back and was told to call Qiana directly. I left two messages and never heard back so I booked and drive 45 mins to get my haircut by my previous stylist. I tried again in June to book my haircut for August. I got the Zelle information and instructed to pay a deposit within 24 hours of scheduling. I sent my deposit and felt good to finally get a local curly hair stylist and booked well in advance. A few weeks before my appointment I got a text saying I needed to be rescheduled due to salon maintenance and a couple days later offered another appointment. The morning of my appointment I was sent instructions at 8:30am about texting when I arrive so I can be escorted in and a new address. My appointment was for 10am. At 9:48 as I was about 5 mins away I received a text from Qiana telling me there was an unavoidable delay and to come at 11:30. I told her I had just arrived and would try but wasn't able to. She was apologetic through text and saying it was an issue with electricity in the building. I would have preferred a phone call or to meet in person to be told what was going on. I couldn't be rescheduled because I wasn't able to arrange for child care in the day and time she offered. The reason for the one star is due to multiple failed attempts to get scheduled, not having my calls returned and being told to come back another time instead of asking if I was able to. I luckily found a curly stylist, Victoria, at Salon at the Vinyard in RB and had a very easy experience and excellent haircut. She was able to book me right away and I was able to just call, make an appointment and get it done. Very different from what I experienced with Curl Salon- multiple emails, cancelled/rescheduled appointments, lots of texts, no return phone calls and being left to figure out when I could get fit into my previous hairstylist who is far or look again for another local curly hair stylist. Qiana did immediately return my deposit so I considered 2 stars but the way the communication is handled plus being left without an appointment after booking far in advance two times and pulling into the parking lot for my appointment after driving 20 mins to get there and being told via text to come back a later time instead of being asked or called to explain what's happening is really unprofessional. read more

I even received a reminder text tonight for an appointment with her that doesn't even exist because I refused to pay another $50 to MAYBE have an appointment with her. But apparently I'm still on her schedule? Get it together girl. I understand having a deposit policy because people are flaky and stylist's time equals money but when a possible customer gives you TWO weeks notice that they need to change their appointment because of unforeseen events at work, you would think they would be REASONABLE and work with you to reschedule your appointment and not take advantage of you and try to get another $50 out of you. My 15 year old son has very curly hair and he and I have struggled with it for the last few years. The drama around his hair has been a point of contention between the two of us for a few years now. Qiana is a hair genius! I have curly hair and had heard of the deva curl cut, but never wanted to pay for it, as it was a bit more expensive than what I was used to paying for. After years of going to different hairstylists, I finally decided to "bite the bullet" and pay extra for this "special" cut. Qiana surpassed my expectations and I was beyond satisfied. We talked at length about what look I wanted and what my daily routine was. She cut my hair, curl by curl, and made sure that it looked the way I wanted it to. My hair was short at the time and I seriously looked like a poodle! She shaped my hair and helped me look like a human again. Qiana is very sweet and truly has a talent for cutting curly hair. I've been going to her for about a year now, and as long as she is in town, I will continue to get my haircut with her. Currently my hair has been falling out a lot and has thinned out tremendously. Showed up to the second attempt and as I was pulling into the parking lot got another text asking to reschedule again, same reason. It's one of those salon conglomerates so Curl Salon and Qiana's name aren't anywhere on the building. I started to wonder if it was a real thing or a scam. Qiana said she had just arrived. I asked if we could speak through the window of the car. Nope. I asked if she could wave from a distance on her way out the door so I would know it was her and that she really worked there. Nope. To be fair, my deposit *was* refunded. Just seemed really dodgy and I'm still not sure why she wouldn't just be willing to show her face. Worst case, she's a scammer. My hair was uneven so I needed to get it fixed , so I made a appointment and got my hair fixed and all beautified up by the stylist/owner! She's so sweet, gorgeous and the salon is so nice to be in (colors , space and cleanliness) . The prices are reasonable especially for stylist that know what they are doing. She explained to me how she's going to cut my hair instead of just cutting it . She will educate you ! Wanted to get a wash, deep condition, & straighten for my daughter. Tried to schedule with the owner--she passed me off to Aneeka. The owner quoted me $75 for my daughters hair, however after speaking with Aneeka, she quoted me $65 and later changed it after speaking with her friend. After evaluation, she said my daughters hair was very damaged and needed quite a few inches to be taken off. I trusted her as this is supposed to be a "CURL EXPERT"... My daughter is multi-cultural (African American/white) and has thick curly hair. Her hair was trimmed maybe 9mo ago. Her hair was previously cut into a tapered "V" and had about an inch of dried ends that needed to be trimmed. Aneeka recommended that 3-4inches be trimmed off. I agreed to cut the dead ends if that was her professional opinion on my daughters hair. When I looked up, she had cut off 3-4 inches in a STRAIGHT line across and at no angle on a dry straightened cut. I was on a business call and was horrified when I saw this. First, we all know that curly hair should NOT be cut like this. Second, when it dries it is going to look horrible. Even straight it didn't look good. Aneeka also reccomended that I bring her in once every 2-3 weeks for additional trimming to keep up with her hair damage. (What?!)--- Ive gotten at least 3 other professional opinions that deal with her hair for braiding, trimming or deep condition treatments. And all 3 said that much cut wasnt necessary and her hair is very healthy and taken care of. As far as the deep condition and blow/straighten went she did a good job. She was really sweet. But after adding a trim that I REGRET...it was $100 total plus a $20 tip and I left VERY unhappy. Quite a few people asked "who cut her hair? Why did they cut it so short and straight"--- and I know it is because it looks bad. Needless to say also, her straight-ish hair lasted all of 4hrs before it was frizzy and curling up again. As a DEVA Curl recommended salon...I am very disappointed. I will not be coming back for any cut or trim and DO NOT recommend this salon unless its for a deep condition. read more
