Great salon I highly recommend they take there time and want to be sure your hair is how you want it.

When I used to live in the area I would always go to Mark Young to cut/color/highlight my hair. I'm pretty selective when it comes to having my bangs cut how the way I like it, and he never fails! I'm always so happy when I have him cut them, I can either part my hair to the right or left, and that how the way I love it! I live in LA now, so it's harder for me to schedule to see him. But when I do find time, I would drive all the way down in this area to have Mark cut my hair. That's to show how much I love his work and trust him with my hair. I was tired of my long damaged dry hair, so I really wanted to cut my hair a lot shorter, I showed him some photos of how I wanted my bob cut. He was like you got it girl, I'll make you into a 'moving star' and I was just like alright, I trust you! My neck length angle bob cut as you can see in some of the photos I've posted on here. It turned out fabulous, I was so happy with my haircut, I've gotten tons of compliments with my new shorter hair. Thank you Mark Young! He is one of the best and a very funny man! read more

Got my hair cut and colored by Tommy, who was recommended by my good friend. I was definitely nervous because the last time I got my hair colored, the girl that did it messed it up. When I got to my appointment, Tommy could automatically tell I was nervous about getting my hair done. He definitely made me feel at ease. He asked me what I was going for and I told him I wanted a subtly ombré look and told him to cut my hair any way he thought would look good for my face. After asking me about my daily routine he gave me an opinion that would be suitable for me. I am extremely low maintenance. I am a mother of two so I don't have time to curl my hair all the time. He cut and colored my hair in a way that looks wonderful without fussing with it and looks absolutely beautiful if I had the time to curl it. Definitely ask for Tommy if you want someone that will make you feel comfortable and will recommend with confidence what will look good on you. You will leave the salon feeling like a million bucks! read more

I have been going to Moda for about 10 years now and have always had a wonderful experience. Although all of the stylists are talented, Charmie is my go to gal and she delivers the best results ever. I play around with lots of colors and she always executes exactly what I want, but she is so on top of her game, she will guide you and offer suggestions as to what will look best. I love my hair and would never go anywhere else. She is a true artisan. The salon is comfy and staff is friendly - book an appointment now - you will not be disappointed ! read more

I had the day off and was frantically trying to find a place to get my hair cut at. As a mom of a 1 year old, a wife and working professional I don't have much time for ME. Also. I had so many bad experiences with hair cuts that either looked like they took a machete to my hair or it looked like they didn't do anything to it at all. So when I went to Moda I was very nervous. I even told the gal who did my hair how nervous I was! Haha. Let me tell you, Charmie did such a great job! She not only made me feel comfortable by sympathizing with my fears, she also listened to exactly what I wanted. Also...she was honest! I was thinking of doing a color but because of my damage she advised against it. I left with a gorgeous new do and I recommend her to anyone! Thank you Charmie for helping this tired Mama feel beautiful Grazie! Ciao! read more

I posted a picture. It speaks for itself. Do not go here!! Worst hair cut I have ever received! I had to pay someone else to fix this mess! read more

I love this place! I have been going to Charmie for years, but I had to write this after she colored my hair yesterday. It is AMAZING! My natural hair color is red but it's a lot more white these days. Charmie added several colors of red, and left streaks of my white hair so that it looks totally natural. She likes long hair, unlike so many stylists, and she knows how to work with it. I THINK THE PICTURE SAYS IT ALL! read more

I LOVE this place. I'll rate each service individually: Facial Threading -- Terri is ABSOLUTELY brilliant. I have sensitive skin, so waxing is out. Terri has mad skills with the thread, and it really doesn't hurt, her technique is SO good. Bikini Wax -- again, I go to Terri -- great technique, quick, thorough. This lady is an expert at hair removal and worth EVERY penny. She also has a wonderful bedside manner, and is very calm. Nails, manicure/pedicure -- FANTASTIC! Both Sari and Thuy (pronounce "Twee") are the best manicurists I have ever known. Their cleanliness is above and beyond. They actually line their pedicure basins with plastic bags so it's like a "one-time use" deal. You can rest assured you are NEVER sharing in someone elses toe-funk, fo' sho'!! The price for a mani/pedi cannot be beat. I was spoiled by Sari and Thuy that when I moved to La Jolla, I had to pay twice as much for comparable service and technique (that still didn't match their skills). [TIP: call to make an appointment, even though they try to accommodate walk-ins. These ladies are booked! they have dozens of clients that have been going to them for more than 10 years (some for 20) and keep coming back like clockwork! So an appointment is always best since it's a very personal/individual service. This is not a "mani/pedi mill" if you know what I mean.] I'm just sad I live so far away; but if I ever have a reason to go to north county -- I make a side trip to MODA to see one of these 3 wonderful ladies!!! They are hidden gems in this salon. (oh, and the stylists are very nice, I just don't frequent their services as much; but their clients always seem to love coming into this salon. very nice family/community feeling. Almost like a sanctuary for pampering -- old school "beauty shop" style; which is rare today.) read more

I've been going here to see Charmie for the last few years. She always fits me in and is very quick and always does a wonderful job. I usually get a cut/ color every other month when I can and her prices are reasonable. Highly recommend!! read more

After over a year of pedicures from other places- I came back to see Thuy for a wedding bc she does the best! $16 for a pedicure now. Which is totally okay with me. I traveled 40 mins to see her specifically. Still the best in my book! She also remembered me! That's great service. Also works with your schedule. Very polite and nice. Note* It isn't a typical nail salon. She has a bucket and no massage chair. But, I don't care about that bc her work is great. Very thorough and my feeds are so pretty afterwards!! And I hate my feet! I love them after I go to her! read more

By far the best place ever. Clean and very knowledgable. I had my nails done by Twee who is excellent. I had my hair highlighted and styled by Ellie who was absolutely great. I have very thick hair and very long. Ellie was friendly and took her time. I won't go any place else, ever. They have a customer for life. I recommend this salon to anyone. read more

If you're looking to get your eyebrows threaded- go to Charmie! I've tried other places around oceanside and the results don't come close to being as good as what Charmie can do for you. I paid $18 to get it done. Its a huge jump from the $5.99 you can pay at Kaya or 8-10 you can pay at the mall. But you get what you pay for. If you value the appearance of your eyebrows, its an $18 well spent. Remember this: eyebrows make or break your face. So book with Charmie! read more

Charmie did an awesome job with my hair today. I was a little worried about cutting so much off but something had to be done with damage I did to my own hair by over-dying it. I love my hair, it feels and looks 100% better....I'll be back for sure :) read more

I absolutely love my hair! Thanks to Charmie! I have found my person and will definitely be back! She was so fast and knows exactly what she was as doing, I knew she wouldn't disappoint! CHARMIE IS AMAZING! I went in for a trim on my layered/long hair and she gave me the best quality cut ever!! Only $35! A few days later I went to her again for a balayage and Charmie did not disappoint!! I had a grown out balayage that was done incorrectly the first time. Charmie just blew my mind with how well my hair came out after she worked her magic on it! I definitely recommend this place and especially Charmie, such a sweetie. If only there were more stars, Charmie gets them all. Thank God for her! I made the mistake of walking into a chain salon on a whim and ended up with what looked like the tip of a paint brush in orange paint. I've been going to Charmie for over 10 years and is the only person I trust with my hair. She creates the most natural color for my hair that looks stunning up or down. Her honest recommendation is always pristine from a certain hair cut, bouncy layers, to hi lights or lowlights she picks the best for your face shape and complexion. I feel so relaxed in her gorgeous Salon I always end up dozing off mid treatment. I've followed her to her new location and she always has a clean and modern taste. Thank you Charmie for always making me feel and look amazing. read more

My hair stylist was out of the country and I needed a cut , touch up , and highlights for a last minute fiesta. It was my first visit with Charmie . She had excellent reviews on yelp and was local too. That morning I made an appointment and she fit me in for the late afternoon. I was very impressed with her knowledge and efficiency ! In less than two hours my hair was perfect! Many compliments on my highlights and style . Thank you Charmie!! read more

Moda is a great salon and Charmie is a terrific stylist. She is expert at color, cut and eyebrows design. The best thing about the color is that the ones she picks blend with my own color so well that it looks natural as it grows. No ugly roots! I recommend Charmie and Moda. read more

This is a review only for the manicurist Thuy, I have not used any other services at Moda Salon. I turned to yelp to help me find a good nail tech. I don't get artificial nails, I keep my natural nails short, with no polish because of my job. I do get polish on my toes. I had a very bad experience & got a nail fungus from one of the places that claim to be Happy. I was the furthest thing from happy when I got that fungus & it takes forever to get rid of them! Plus they look gross. Ick. Also, I've had bad experiences with getting my cuticles cut too short, I bled & was sore til it healed. Not cool. Thuy is VERY clean. She uses a new plastic cover for each person, so you aren't touching the same foot bath her other clients are. That was the most important thing to me. I didn't care if she's good at applying polish or not, I just wanted clean nails & cuticles, without being nipped, cut or bleeding. It's just a bonus that she's great at painting nails too lol. I highly recommend Thuy. She does speak great english, which helps if I need to communicate anything about my nails. But it was also nice visiting & getting to know her. Thanks Thuy! read more

MODA BEAUTY SALON gets 5 stars from me! I think I may have found a happy place for my pedicures:-) I do not get my nails done very often at all, pretty much because it usually ends up being a little less then satisfying. I get home and think, Hmppfffff I can do this myself and save a buck. But sometimes we all need some extra attention and care and pedicures and manicures can be such a treat. So I'm very glad I found this Nail Salon. I have not been in for any hair care yet. So this review is about a pedicure I received. My experience was with Thuy and she was wonderful. I was not sitting in a fancy massage chair or anything like that but a regular comfortable salon chair, and my foot bath was lined with a plastic bag, thus clean and it was comfortable and the water temperature just right. She was wonderful, patient and attentive and her hands were firm on my feet to where I did not squirm, and I am very ticklish when it comes to my feet. I never felt like any moment I was going to get a cut, or possibly get burned (my fears from previous other places) so it was all a positive experience. She took her time and my toes/feet were getting great care. I loved LOVED the foot massage she gave me, including my legs a bit too. It was heavenly. What a treat! My toes look pretty again. I will definitely come back and gladly pay to have my feet and toes taken care of. The prices here are great even with my small budget. I will be back ! Thank you Thuy :-) read more

I lived in San Diego and made the commute to Moda to get my hair done because I loved my stylist so much. I am very particular about my blonde and Carola is the absolute best. Before I met her, I went to a few stylists by my place and none of them could get my color right--it was too brassy and/or just not blonde enough. Carola got mine right in my first visit so I never saw anyone else after that. Everyone is super nice at the salon, too! read more

I was looking for a new place to get my hair cut and finally came here . I made an appointment same day and was booked with Elle. (Don't remember correct spelling). Anyways.. I had a great experience.. I truly felt comfortable my hair was really dry and wavy I had tons of split ends . She moisturized my hair with some Argan oil and cut away, I can truly say I got what I paid for.. she took her time she spent a whole hour on my cut. After that she began to blow dry my hair it came out looking great it felt healthy again had a nice bounce to it and no longer felt dry and icky ! read more

I forgot the lady's name (an Iranian lady) who did my hair but she is just as good as Kym from Stockton who's been doing my hair for 13 years. She did an amazing job, couldn't be more happier.
