After trying to call three times during the day at different times; It is 3:37 pm and the place is closed when their hours are 9am to 5 pm for a Saturday. I'm standing outside the door: One man has his back turned away from the door, another lady is washing hair. I knocked as a courtesy to make sure they are actually closed since there are people in there and the lady was screaming at me from the hair washing station, as the man continues with his back facing towards me doesn't even flinch. I actually found this place through one of their advertisements so I was a little sceptical, but I was needing to get an appointment right away and I also didn't want to break the bank. Amanda did my color and she honored the coupon special they were running that week. Not only did she do an amazing job on my hair with the color, but also used products leaving it shiny and soft. My hair is generally very dry. I looked like I had a complete new look when I left the salon. I was extremely pleased! I had a coupon for this salon so I took a chance on a cut and color. The owner Amanda was a true delight and very skilled. I was so pleased with every aspect of my service, and my hair looked amazing when she was done. Ive gone back 3 times and have always been happy. The salon is clean and pretty and prices are very reasonable, not off the charts like some salons. One thing I like to note is Amanda was very perceptive about my moods. I went to see Amanda for a cut and color and was amazed. My hair was very dry and damaged but she managed to bring it back to life. While I was there, my son needed a haircut. I was a bit leary to have her cut it because he's very picky and I usually take him to one of those expensive hipster barbershops and we hadn't had much success at other salons. Amanda was not in a very good mood today. I was a new client. No greeting, no smile, stone-faced the entire time. She snapped at a sweet handyman fixing a ceiling tile, saying she didn't have time for him to use up two minutes putting the ceiling tile back in place, that she had a client in 30 minutes. She asked me if I needed a shampoo-- uh Yeah, my hair hadn't been washed in two days. Borderline uncivil. Haircut was adequate. Salon itself kinda crappy. There are better places. read more

But now she has an amazing shop in Oceanside and I make the drive. She always does amazing highlights. I use to wear my hair super short and she was always so wonderful about cutting it. I tried to go from brown and purple to blond at home. I had gone from brown to blond before so I didn't expect a problem. I didn't take into account the purple. My roots turned blond but the rest of my hair turned this ugly olive green color. I was freaking out. I made it worse by applying an ash color which made my hair greener. It was Sunday night so I had to wait until Monday to call salons. I called several after looking at some reviews on yelp and most salons were closed on Monday. I called Shear Creations and they answered! They were able to schedule me for Tuesday morning! Thanh looked at my hair, showed me colors (really I would have been happy with anything none green) and went to work. She worked for 3 hours on my hair. My hair is porous and dry from years of dying my hair. She had to use 3 different mixtures to fix different portions of my hair. She is very detailed oriented and patient. I felt so embarrassed about what I had done to my hair but she made me feel comfortable. I really liked the color I ended up with. She wasn't 100% satisfied (I was) but she didn't want to further damage my hair. She also cut my hair, my ends were frayed. The length was a bit shorter than I would have liked but I'm sure it was necessary. I would have paid twice as much and spent twice the amount of time anywhere else. She did a great job! When I first walk in this beuty shop for a haircut! I never expected it to be now "one of my favorite salon shop in town. I first saw and read Yelp'* according to reviews, there I come and check 1 day, BOY! It is very true. The shop is very clean lots of parking as well.
