The doughtnuts are awesome, but the breakfast sandwich is out of this world... if you like mortadella like I do! I doesn't have the saltiness of bacon, sausage or pork roll so if saltiness is your thing this might not be the thing for you. Atmosphere has the creative/artist studio kind of vibe, which based on the artwork seems to be exactly what they are going for. So why only 4 stars... 1. the doughnuts are not labeled. I get they rotate, but how hard is it clip a little plastic sign on the front of the rack. So now they have to explain every doughnut to every customer and then you need to remember or they have to explain them again. It's very inefficient as the line grows. Also, there are tons of kids so parents need to then re-explain the choices to their kids. Nothing against kids, but just magnifies the inefficiency. 2. The coffee was TERRIBLE.. undrinkable. It was very weak/watery and they added so much half & half, that it was practically white! What goes better with a doughnut than coffee? I had planned to eat right there, but took my food to go because I needed better coffee. Sorry, but invest in a real coffee machine and possibly a trained barista because no matter how good the doughnuts are, they cannot make up for terrible coffee. From my perspective, the standouts are the cloud line (ie, light and ethereal composition) and anything with fruit - blood orange, mango, lemon, raspberry etc. If your definition of a donut is Dunkin Donuts - you won't like these. Once again went to Curiosity Doughnuts. They never disappoint. Got there by 9:00 so there was a great variety. Since it was Hanukkah, wanted to celebrate with Sufganiyot (traditionally fried and filled doughnuts). The strawberry doughnut was crazy good. I love that they do not skimp on the delicious, high-quality strawberry jelly. The triple chocolate babka doughnut was also fantastic. Owner and people working there are terrific. Logistically this place was a bit of a nightmare but the food quality is undeniable The staff were very friendly and helpful but there was no real rhyme or reason to the ordering process or cooked foods pickup process. They don't request names or give order numbers for breakfast sandwich orders and rather walk up to the counter and simply announce "1 sandwich" "two sandwiches" etc. so multiple people were skipped while waiting when other people went up to grab the sandwiches as they came out not knowing who they were actually for. They also just say "next" when they are ready to take another order and there isn't an organized line or ticket number system so there was a good deal of confusion from the people hanging around the counter as to whose turn to order it was. They really need to implement some sort of system for this as it ended up being a pretty chaotic mess waiting for the MTO foods and placing orders Every doughnut and item we tried was delicious, but not a single item in the case was labeled with a name, basic description, allergens etc. so for every single item in the case they had to explain one by one what they were. There was plenty of room for signage on the walls and in the cases for item names at the bare minimum that would have helped the ordering experience tremendously and really sped up the process. We couldn't even find descriptions of the weekly or daily items on their instagram or website to try and help narrow down our choices ahead of time We will definitely be back for the food quality alone which was a 10/10 and again the staff were very helpful and friendly but they really need to iron out the rest of the process. After learning the history of the team behind Curiosity Doughnuts and trying them for myself this weekend, I'm very surprised to see only 35 reviews for the best doughnut shop I've ever been to. My husband is a huge fanboy of the owners who created the blog Ideas in Food, which was one of the first and early blogs that focused on science backed explanations of cooking methods. In his words, culinary royalty opened a doughnut shop in Furlong, PA. Knowing the background, I expected nothing short of amazing doughnuts..... and they truly lived up to the hype. Each and every doughnut we tried was amazing. The dough was moist, pillowy, perfectly fried and chewy. The frostings had incredible depth of flavor, rich and saturated berry glazes topped many of the offerings. Really, these doughnuts are nothing short of incredible. We went on a Saturday around 11am. It's about a 1.5 hour drive from NYC and I HIGHLY suggest making it a day trip. Come pick up a bakers dozen and do some antique shopping in New Hope. Worth every penny, this is doughnut artistry. You don't know what you don't know. This donut shop is almost hidden--I have passed by so many times without stopping. My mistake! I have found a new standard for a donut shop--very gourmet, deeply satisfying, and creative. Pull up and stay awhile-with a dozen--the atmosphere is easy like a Sunday morning. It is more about the dough and lovely glazes--not heavy, overly sweet toppings or dry bread. I had one version that was like a Southern biscuit dough but softer--angel pillow-like-- with an amazing glaze on top, also a Blood Orange donut that was a subtle, soft, tangy perfection...oh... and there may have been a NOT too sweet, dark chocolate creation that left me speechless. I just needed a tall glass of cold milk. The layered versions are my husband's favorite along with the original glazed that is anything but a normal glazed donut by normal definitions. You simply must try this friendly treasure. The owner has every reason to be proud of his creations--he Is like an instant friend who wants you to live your best donut life! The quality is so unexpected and instantly became something we will drive 30-40 minutes to share with staff, friends, and family. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays unfortunately. read more

These doughnuts donuts are different from your normal ones. The yeast tastes more like a sourdough starter as opposed to the normal instant yeast. The cake texture is more chewy, make mixed longer or fermented a bit longer as it proofs. I enjoyed these doughnuts and my buddy drove 45 miles to gift these to us. Truly a treat! I liked the standard glaze the most but the others like raspberry. I would love to try these fresh off the fryer. read more

We only came here because a friend told us we had to. We were in Philly for work and this place is kind of out of the way, but it's worth it! My husband and I shared: - Blueberry Doughnut - Panettone Doughnut - Doughnut Crumb Cake I wouldn't get the crumb cake again, but the doughnuts were phenomenal. I love doughnuts and these are the second best doughnuts I've ever had. They were moist and had the perfect texture. We got there around 12 and several things were sold out, but they still had a decent amount left. I'd get there earlier if you want the full selection. These are one of my favorite donuts. I visited their Tyson's Virginia location so many times when they were here and I was sad they closed a few years ago. I missed them so much that my family and I made a trip last year and special ordered a dozen ahead of time and picked them up. They are very moist and love their different flavors and textures. My friend has been following the owners for many years when they started as food bloggers. The donuts here are unique and delicious. I also love their egg cream. (Flavored sparking water with condense milk?) Their spin on the classic donut is mind blowing. You'll find your original yeast donuts, cake donuts, French crullers, all the way to ones like churro donuts, babka donuts, hot cakes (inspired by the fluffy Japanese pancake) and more. The choices are limitless and the amount of creativity and thoughts put into creating these magical donuts is insane! However, they did open recently so the availability and menu options are limited for now. They are still trying to figure out how to scale their selections and also introduce more savory items. They currently have chicken sandwich and onigiri. You can only purchase whichever type of donut they choose to bake on the day of. Owner did mention best time to come is around 9am so you can get a good selection of donuts. When we were here on a Saturday they sold out around 11:30am. I also love how they don't use any artificial food coloring and strive to use natural ingredients on their donuts. They also recycle the donut oil to make into soaps. (Which you can purchase) A shop that sells delicious food and is ECO-FRIENDLY? I'm so impressed. We drove all the way from Philly to try this place. I would definitely say it's worth it if you're a big donut fan. Definitely get your amount worth of donuts too if you're making a trip out of this. I was debating between giving this place either 4 or 5 stars, but ultimately decided on 5 stars. I will preface this by saying I loved this place when there was a location in Northern Virginia, and it was definitely my favorite doughnut shop. I would say that is the main thing driving this 5 star review, because this particular experience was closer to 3 or 4 stars, mostly because of one of the doughnuts we were given. We aren't from the Pennsylvania area, but we made a detour on our longer trip to pick up some of the doughnuts here. We ordered for pickup, and upon arrival, we were greeted very warmly by the owner (I think) of the shop. He was super friendly and kind, and he was very happy to help us pick out more doughnuts. The doughnuts are probably the prettiest doughnuts I have ever seen. And the flavors are super creative, along with the types of doughnuts they sell. While I really liked some of the doughnuts we were given, like the clusters and the cruller, there was one doughnut in particular that was very disappointing (in the picture, it is the doughnut in the box to the right, bottom left). I am not even sure what flavor it was, but it had a weird fermented taste to it, like I was drinking straight up alcohol. I am not sure if that was how it was supposed to taste, but it wasn't very good at all. The rest of the doughnuts were solid though. I would definitely come back here because of how much I loved these doughnuts in the past, but I would have to steer away from that one doughnut in particular. read more

Zero signage on the probably 20+ variety of doughnuts and with none of them being easily identified, you're forced to request the employee walk you through the entire case describing each donut. Paid 65 bucks for a dozen doughnuts, cinnamon roll and coffee (exorbitant, but I never complain if the quality is there) and ended up throwing over half in the trash. The donuts are deliberately not labeled - the owner likes having the staff recite the flavors - but it is hard to hear when the shop is crowded. I feel sorry for the staff having to repeatedly list the flavors! There is no way to order by phone or online, and they often run out of donuts early (the case was mostly empty by 11 AM last Sunday). Holy Toledo, Batman! That was the best doughnut I've ever eaten! Expensive, but glad they're not sold by weight because each is much more substantial than anticipated when lifted from the box. Moist, perfect cake-like texture and so flavorful that first bite made me slow down to acknowledge just how fruity sweet it was. Astoundingly delicious! All natural ingredients. All natural flavors and colors as a result. Each chomp an explosion of taste with blasts of flavor and subtle undertones from the variety of toppings sprinkled on the glaze and icing. Even the dough itself creating the round body of the d.nut seemed to possess a hidden secret that transposed into more creamy tantalizing taste. True. @$4+ per rounder, they better be exceptional, and I confess to being skeptical that Curiosity Doughnuts were anything more than that - a curiosity. Discovered when visiting my sister in Buckingham, PA. Greeted with a friendly hello. Asked if & how to freeze them & he answered that some customers said they did, but he didn't recommended it. They were very light & airy, sweet, though not cloyingly so, with a delightfully mild, yeasty finish that isn't what you get from packaged donuts. Expensive at $3.95 each, but worth a special treat. I have enjoyed curiosity donuts for awhile - they used to be at the spring house Whole Foods and then I'd pick them up at Native Cafe in doylestown as well! They had stopped doing donut drops which was upsetting (at first) until I realized they were finally opening their own shop ! They're in furlong right off of York Rd at the old back to the 50s diner. Decent parking although on a Thursday morning at 8am , they were already packed! Grant it, this is only the second week but I was surprised by how many people were waiting on a Thursday. The staff was very efficient and once we were inside got our donuts with ease ! My only suggestion - to make it easier for the staff and customers- would be to put little plaques or sticker or some identifier of donuts so the staff doesn't have to go through them all with each customer. I was trying to listen to the guests ahead of me so the poor staff didn't have to repeat themselves again. Although they were all super happy and had great attitudes ! I'll definitely be back and honestly I'm very happy this is much closer to me now. I can't wait for weekend donut drops. Currently open Thurs-Sun 8-2 or until they sell out, which it seems like is inevitable. Woke up at 7am on a Sunday to drive an hour for these donuts and can't say I regret it. My friends and I got there a little after 9am and it was PACKED- as in line fully out the door. Parking was easy, though. While we waited in line, the staff handed out small cups of coffee for free which was a really nice gesture. The owner also came out and spoke to everyone in line- again, super nice gesture. You can tell how appreciative he was and how passionate he is about his business. Once it was time to order, we were sad to see they were out of a lot of their classics and all they had left were fruity flavors. I'm not a huge fruity donut person but at this point we were committed. We got half a dozen- I can't remember all the flavors but we definitely got passionfruit, lychee strawberry, yuzu strawberry, cherry chocolate, and butterscotch. The two strawberry flavors were my favorites. Even though I would normally not order fruity donuts, I was really impressed with these flavors. I do wish we got to try more types of donuts- their crullers, potato donuts, and sourdough donuts looked so good online. I guess I'll just have to go earlier next time. read more

Idk why we haven't come here sooner?! Like typical fashion, I like to wait til the hype goes down a bit. First impression, cute little doughnut spot. Very clean, sterile. My only gripe is that there aren't signs or posting about what the doughnut flavors are that are available, but no biggie. The customer service was phenomenal and she walked us through all the different flavors, but again signage might not take as much time as having the employees going over all the flavors. There were some interesting flavors that I am certainly excited to try. My friends have raved about this place esp since they know I prefer more natural foods/ingredients. Very happy to have stopped in this morning & looking forward to another trip back in. I want to try all of them. The hefty price is well worth it for these wonderful doughnuts. Unique and creative different doughs and flavors and combinations of flavors! Not every flavor is to everyone's taste but I bet they'll have something that's guaranteed to blow your mind. Yes they are more expensive than Dunkin or supermarket doughnuts but... Is there any wonder why? They use far better ingredients and that costs more. I'll pay the extra to avoid the weird chemicals and additives in other places doughnuts any day. When you see a color is because it came from a fruit purée, not a laboratory. These are substantial doughnuts made with cars and premium ingredients. Quite frankly they probably should cost more. As to people complaining that they ran out? They make them fresh daily and they only have so much space to do it in because they can't stockpile them in advance and the product is in demand. People come in and buy multiple dozens. Is frankly amazing they keep stock as long as they do. Making thousands of doughnuts with two dozen different doughs and dozens of glazes, purées, crumbs, etc. is no easy feat. The owners and staff are delightful people who care to an incredible degree about the food they are serving and the people they are serving it to. They are one of a kind and we are blessed to have them here. And I haven't gotten into the savory foods they have served! The Americanized onigiri, the pretzel crusted fried chicken...! Trust. With all the buzz about this new place, I thought I'd better give it a try. Ordered 6 donuts - $24 (same cost for a couple of 3-egg omelettes at our local breakfast haunt). The doughnuts were good. Not great in our assessment, at least great enough that we couldn't get any better anywhere else, and great enough to justify the pricey order. We decided to try Curiosity Doughnuts because there were raving fans AND raving critics. The donuts are definitely the "deep fried" variety and experience (flash forward to the same evening when our extra donuts had saturated the bag with the oil / fat they were fried in)... I understand why there are fans and critics - "to each his own" - so I cannot condemn their doughnut style just because I'm not a fan of funnel cakes or other fried dough products either. The two star rating is for the chaotic, disorganized, and completely unlabeled display of donuts. You have to point to everything that looks "choclatey" to find out what it is and what it isn't... add a couple of families with screaming kids (making it difficult to hear the lengthy description of doughnuts) and you basically just say "yeah I'll take 2 of those and 2 of these" just to get out of there. Is it really that difficult to write the type of doughnut on an index card and stand it up in the tray in the display? After passing Curiosity Doughnuts many times, I finally decided to give them a try. The shop was crowded and I was overwhelmed with what looked like hundreds of donuts looking at me. There are no signs in front of the donuts, so you have to ask what is what. With all the noise, not an easy thing to do. I found an employee to help me and decided on the strawberry jelly donut. At $4.00 a donut, I thought, this better be the best donut I have ever eaten. It was OK. The donut itself tasted like fried dough you'd get at a feast or fair, i.e. zeppole, but overfried. The strawberry "jelly" was more of a homemade jam. It tasted good, but there was way too much of it. Instead of being inside the donut, it was poured on top. When you picked up the donut, it literally fell apart because of all the jam. Also, there was some kind of fruit rind in the jam (lemon, I'm guessing) that was hard to chew and had an unpleasent feel in my mouth, which I had to spit out. The donut was covered in some type of sugary crumb, which in my opinion, was not needed. The donut was sugary sweet enough. After eating the donut, I had a bitter, overfried taste in my mouth, even after drinking coffee. The donut's taste was too overpowering. Edit...My husband had lemon powder sugar and we split triple chocolate since I wrote the above review. My husband said the lemon was bitter and greasy. The triple chocolate was very rich, but not sweet. It almost had an alcoholic taste to it, kind of like beer. I was craving chocolate and this one didn't cut it. Would I ever eat a donut from here again? Maybe I'd try other flavors, I don't know. Again, in my opinion, this particular donut was not worth $4.00. For $15 a dozen, I can go to Yum-Yum Donut Shop and get delicious, melt in your mouth, homemade donuts that don't leave an upleasent aftertaste in my mouth. read more
