We drove an hour out to this location hoping this was better than another mochi ring that we usually frequent. For some reason, every mochi ring location we visit never has any variety regardless of the time of day, so we have been trying around different mochi business. We purposely drove an hour hoping this business had more than one flavor available (which is our usual problem), and we actually went a bit later in the day. This location had all of the flavors available in, so we were stuck getting a box of the same donut. The person who served us was extremely polite. He heard us talking about our hour drive as we walked out and actually came while we were about to drive off just to thank us for coming that far for 6 mochi rings. If you've never had a mochi ring donut, it's deep fried like a regular yeast donut, but made with tapioca/rice flour, which gives them a more springy consistency and slightly different flavor. (That description doesn't feel quite right... you just have to try them to understand). The icings are also better than average donut shops because they have things like yuzu, black sesame, and taro. They also have more traditional icings like strawberry or Nutella, but super-flavorful. To add icing to all of the icing you'll already have, they serve really great bubble tea. Oh emmm gee, this place is delicious. I never had donuts quite like this before. The donuts had this chewy texture to it that can't quite be described in words. We ordered a half dozen of different flavors (matcha, strawberry, black sugar, black sesame, taro, and cookies n cream). I really enjoyed them all. I ordered a dozen donuts since there was a dozen flavors to try from. Me and my mom ordered a half dozen box of donuts to try various flavors: matcha, citron, ube, blueberry, Oreo, and the 6th I can't really remember but I believe it was Nutella. I also got a matcha latte with jelly. The citron flavor was my favorite. It was sweet but not too overwhelming, and the citrus flavor was refreshing. I could probably eat 6 of those alone. The Oreo, blueberry, and Nutella were extremely sweet. I don't think I could eat them again unless I had a huge sweet tooth. The ube and matcha were just ok to me. The ube flavor was a little weak compared to the other donuts. The other donuts, I could probably blindfold myself and know what flavor it was, but I can't say the same for ube. Came back for Korean hot dogs and some bubble tea to see if they lived up to the mochi donuts... anddddd they certainly did! We got the original, mozzarella ramen, mozzarella potato hot dog and it was sooooooo good! They all had a amazing crispy outside crust and the mozzarella cheese was perfect temperature for a insane cheese pull. I'm so glad we finally have a mochi donut place in the area! I'm from SoCal where these are crazy popular, but have never seen anything similar this far east. You owe it to yourself to try it - it'll blow your mind! Mochi donuts are lightly sweetened and a little sticky, but it's the texture that makes them unique. They're puffy and chewy simultaneously - difficult to describe, but again, you'll have to try it for yourself. The shop employees are super friendly and the service is fast. The parking can be hard to get, and navigating the in-and-out of the tight plaza is tricky, but totally worth the hassle. All the donuts look amazing, my hubby's favorite is the Taro and Brown sugar Milk Tea (the donut). Mine is the plain glazed - just to savor the perfection of a mochi donut ring. So saw this place on Fox News in the morning when they have local businesses promoting there business and saw that it was in Jenkintown and being familiar with the area and wanting to try these mochi donuts it was a no brainer to come by. The inside is very clean and pretty much a pick up joint being it's pretty small. The place was super busy with people waiting and they ran out of many of the donuts so was only able to pick up a 1/2 dozen and they were super delicious! Overall, the place was great, I just think they are short-staffed and being so busy it was unfortunate that we could not try more mochi donut flavors. The donuts taste like any other typical donut except for the fact it's made with mochi which is a Japanese rice cake making the donuts a bit more chewy in a good way! Flavor is good and so is the service :) my only problem is that the mochi donuts are a bit stale/dry due to the way they are stored - which affects the texture because mochi donuts are supposed to be soft and chewy to bite... not dry and dense from staling. They were also a bit cold but that doesn't bother me as much as the texture. My recommendation is change the way the mochi donuts are stored so the dough can retain its moisture and chewiness.
