Typically I have always loved Cupid's hot dogs (at the old Northridge location). I ordered an original with chili, mustard & onions. I was truly so disappointed when I took my first bite. It was lukewarm/cool in temperature, the chili was quite bland and the hot dog bun was dry. It was packed in a to go box and I literally opened it right when I got inside the car. Needless to say I wasted $7 for a hot dog that I didn't eat. One bite and threw it in the trash. I didn't want to say anything to the woman working since they were closing in 30 minutes. read more

I should've known something wasn't quite "right" when,I saw fries and burgers on the menu. Now, as a hotdog place, it's a 3 out of 5. As a "Cupid's", it's a 2 out of 5. Chicago Dog was a good frank, but wasn't the usual (snap) and it had regular relish, no tomatoes. Original dog was decent, had the snappy frank. If I'm craving a true Cupid's, I'll stick to the two original locations left. If I want a regular dog, I'll visit this place. I'm gonna give this three stars please know that this is extreme generous and I'm only doing it because it appears to be a family own business with a couple working and it looks like for what it is instead of rough area to make money. With that said the hotdog was oddly stiff not sure if it's how they cooked it or a sign of how old it was. The chili had an odd flavor to it. We've tried this place a couple of times, and unfortunately if you are expecting the Cupid's experience you get in Winnetka or Simi, this place is going to disappoint. It feels like it is very understaffed, service is slow and the food is not up to the bar set by the other two locations. I did recently discover in a conversation with the owners of the other Cupid locations that his location is not owned by the same family, so maybe that's why the experience is so different. The menu here contains some additional items outside the normal hot dogs, including burgers, fries, onion rings, fried mozzarella, tamales, sausages, and corn dogs. And it's all OK, but for the money and how long it takes, it's just not worth it. The chili tasted overcooked and not fresh, the bun was mush and sticky, and my son who usually devours any kind of burger ate half and said he didn't want the rest. If they would up the quality and the service just a bit I think I'd be on board, but as it stands there's better options nearby. The Cupid Dog is by far my favorite! The chili, onions, cheese it's perfect! The Cupid dog still has a snap, however it's slightly less of a snap than a Carneys dog for comparison. This is more of a order and leave location, although it has beautiful murals on the walls and you could stay and sit, but it's directly connected to a busy parking lot and sometime homeless wonder the area and of course are attracted to outside seating that Cupid's offers. Everything about this place is old and tired. The service was slow because there was only one person taking orders, cooking the food, and serving. Corndogs tasted like they were frozen grocery store corndogs. We asked for mayo and received this loose liquid substance. About the only good were the onion rings. They tasted like they were freshly breaded. The atmosphere is very very sad. So many dents, dings, repairs with tape and touch up paint. It was just not pleasant experience. Of course, you need to include with any of their meals the Chili Fries, which have a good kick and juiciness to them. I was going to ask if the place was a franchise, because it didn't feel like the other Cupids, and it definitely did not taste like the other Cupids.
