Recently, we were experiencing problem with our 2015 CRV we were getting Parasitic Battery Drain. We were so frustrated cause after a day without driving, the battery would loss all power and not able to start the car. Hubby brought to the Honda dealer and another autoshop and they didn't find the problem. Hubby suspected the car door as he walks close to the car, the car would auto unlock. We are sure is not like that. But the other places say is a feature. One of them had us replace the battery. Then the car would last a few more days, then during Winter again more than a day without driving, won't be able to start the car again. So, we brought to Al when their shop re-opened. Al first test the more Security system known for parasite leak for Honda's. It was not that. Then he started disconnecting different connection and one of the them is the Door unlock system. And that was it. The fix was almost 1K as need to get the part from Honda also. Al say we don't have to fix, but then cannot use fob and use key. Since the car has low mileage and we are still keep it for some time, we went ahead with the fix. The other great thing with Al is he did my smog test for my other car, a Honda Accord. That car recently changed car battery also and, a pure smog test shop charged me 70 and didn't pass me cause the car hasn't driven long enough. I had driven about 200 miles. He still charged me for the certificate price and said if I bring back, he'll need to charge me, but will do me a favor and charge me a smaller fee. That doesn't seat well. Since Al reopened, we just had him do the smog test as we have driven another 200 miles since. It was still not enough. So Al had us leave the car with him, his mechanic drove for us for the needed miles and we passed. Cheaper than the pure smog shop on El Camino, which is a rip off. read more

So thankful for their exceptional customer service and top notch technical expertise! Due to a tricky problem, my car needed jump start before fixing last year. Cameron quickly came to my home to jump start it and Al found the problem shortly in the shop. They were diligent and thorough doing tests to make sure the problem get solved for good. They fixed it and replaced my broken AC panel at a very competitive price. Recently we took the car there again for a different issue. Al took the time to check and let me know that it's still under the car's lifetime warranty even though many years have passed, so we're getting it fixed by the dealer free of charge. Really wish I had known them sooner - I could have saved myself so much hassle getting the car jump started multiple times by AAA and wasting time with an incompetent auto shop who not only failed to find the problem but also tried to sell useless stuff as a solution. On a Friday afternoon, I was driving thru Cupertino and decided to stop here for some gas and snacks. I don't usually buy off brand gas, but I thought I'd take a chance seeing the low gas prices. It's a clean station with wide driveways. The pump # 3 didn't look too good, so I went inside to pay by credit card. The clerk assured me the pump was fine, and they only sell good quality fuel. While I was there, I grabbed a bag of pork rinds for $3. I pumped Midgrade at $3.83/gal. I drove around 75-100 miles, and my vehicle ran smoothly with good power. My usual smog place had a broken machine which wouldn't be fixed for a month. I occasionally get gas here when I'm in the neighborhood and recalled seeing a smog shop onsite. Although they have a good price for smog check, and the front guy was really kind and nice and made me feel welcome. There was an older man in that shop who seems to be the head mechanic and was completely rude. He kept asking me what was plugged into a wire harness he found under the dash board and I told him I didn't know. He then took me to my truck and showed me the plug and was constantly asking me what it was, and I kept telling him I didn't know. Then he told me that in the state of California this is illegal and started accusing me of criminal activity when I had no clue what he was talking about. I mentioned to him that it could be the brake controller that was installed by a dealership, to which he then started lecturing me again how in the state of California it's illegal and he can't believe I would allow something like that to happen. He was condescending and talking down to me rather than talking with me. Then when I looked under the dash where the computer plug is where other auto shops plug their sensors into and I asked him what that was and he would not answer me. I asked him twice what that plug was and he just kept saying the other plug is illegal. Finally, after I asked him to stop yelling and to answer the question for me about the other plug he said it plugs into the trucks computer. I asked why they couldn't use that and he said the other one is illegal and nothing should be plugged into it. When I was done and left, I called two auto shops and they said it is legal, which is why that plug is there, and this shop was looking to scam me out of a lot of money to fix something that didn't need to be fixed. My AC stopped working so I looked for a place close to my apartment to get it fixed. I recently moved to the area so I relied on yelp reviews and close proximity to my place to decide where to take it. I called in and they were able to take me right away, so I dropped off my car and walked back home. I paid around $230 for an AC service, but 9-10 days later my AC stopped working again. I took my car back in today and left it with them to diagnose. According to the man I spoke with, my condenser is cracked so fluid and oil is leaking which is why my AC won't get cold. The fix will be around $550. He says I must've hit something or maybe a rock hit it and cracked it. I only drive my car around 2-3 days a week so I find it hard to believe that suddenly 10 days after I took my car in for AC service, I caused the issue to escalate. I definitely believe that my condenser needs to be replaced, however I believe that the condenser was the issue the entire time. I opted to pick up my car so I can take it to the dealer's service center instead. If it was properly diagnosed the first time, I wouldn't mind spending $500+ on the fix. But I'd rather wait two weeks for the dealer to complete the repair because I believe that I wasted $230, time, and energy at Cupertino Auto Care. They're really nice people so I'm not going to give them a super low rating but I don't see myself coming back here again. read more

Dropped my vehicle off to get Smog certificate, owner tech called later that day saying I had some problems that need to be rectified and wanted to keep the vehicle so he could test and drive and supply a quote, that took a week, and he then supplied a quote for 1800.00 for work that must be done in order to get it smog certified, I decided to pick up the vehicle took it to another service center in Cupertino, this facility Smogged and certified the vehicle within 20 minutes,I then presented them with the service quote previously supplied, and the service technician told me everything on the quote was false , none of this was needed or required in order to get the car certificate.. The owner of Cupertino Auto care also called harassing me stating I owed him , people like this give auto service a black eye ! read more

The attendant was racist and unprofessional, the bitter bald old caucasian male made me jump through hoops just for gas, and to top it off, the bastard tried to short-change. When confronted, I got assaulted with racial epithets and expletives. The worst part was I was with my elderly mother that day. I can't say enough about the kindness of the people at this garage. I was busy running errands and the tire pressure light came on. I went to fill up the air from another garage's self-service and the gauge said I had reached the right PSI. Nope. The light was still on. I went back and tried again. Nope. Light still on and now it's flashing. I had to be somewhere and I started panicking, worrying that I would get a flat on my way. I was frustrated and more than halfway to distraught when I pulled in to Cupertino Auto Care for help. It was half hour to closing but these guys (I don't even know their names) took the time to check my tires, fill them up properly, and send me on my way. More than the fact that they didn't make fun of what was clearly human error, they were able to quickly and easily reassure me that my tires were fine. I felt confident in their ability and their matter-of-fact manner brought my stress levels down with just a few kind words and instructions on what to do next time. (Namely, buy a better tire gauge.) I would give this place a zero if I could. I had been doing some construction on my home and I didn't realize that it was clogging up my engine. My car started running rough and I took it to Cupertino Auto because they were close to my house. On the phone, they told me that they could hook it up to the computer for free and see what was going on. However, when I was there, I was told it was $65 which would be refunded later if they did the work. They gave me a long list of things wrong but couldn't tell me what the computer said. Additionally, they accused me of not changing my oil which I have never missed doing. I went home so mad that I looked under the hood and cleaned the engine. Since then, I haven't had a problem after they gave me a $2500 quote. I refuse to do business with dishonest people. read more

I cannot say enough good about Cupertino Auto Repair. They have taken care of five of our cars (BMW, Mercedes, Honda, 2 GMs) over the last six years. They are always fair, knowledgeable, helpful, responsive and very reasonably priced. In the rare situation where they could not handle a problem (bodywork, strange engine codes) they directed us to someone who could. Once when I had a problem they told me that they thought that it might have been covered by a recall and recommended that I check with the dealer before having them do the work because the dealer might do the work for free. I had a different experience with this shop recently. I took my car there for service which they performed well, I also asked them to check about a sqeak in the back of the car. At the end of the service they recommended I replace rear struts to take care of the squeak.....long story short....after spending a few hundred dollars it turns out the car did NOT need new struts...apparently they made recommendation that costs several hundred dollars without even cursory checking.... their callousness in making recommendation without checking the facts cost me a lot of money. Without any warning found my car completely dead in the garage. Because I live in the area of Cupertino Auto Care and many years ago had one of my cars serviced by Al I gave him a call. Without any hesitation they came within minutes to jump start my car, but the next morning, even running and driving the car, found it dead again. Cupertino Auto Care again came within 15 minutes, jump started my car again, drove it to their shop, replaced the battery, and delivered the car to me within a couple of hours without charging me extra for the additional time.
