I went on a summer afternoon so the line was pretty long, but moved quickly so I didn't stand in line for longer than 15 minutes. There were so many interesting flavors and the staff working there said I could sample as many as I wanted before deciding. I really appreciated that as they're pretty busy but still gave me a chance to try some before choosing one I liked. I ended up selecting the Lemon Curd as it was so tart and creamy and the yogurt paired with the lemon made it taste like the yoplait key lime pie yogurt I loved as a kid. I also really liked the Mango, Marionberry, and Seattle Fog so I'll come back for those next time. Ube was highly recommended to me as well but the coconut flavor felt overpowering to me. Regular sized single scoop is called a "walk around the park". If you want two flavors, you have to pay an additional amount for a split scoop. Really enjoyed the gelato and it was the perfect summer afternoon treat!

The latte itself was decent and had a strong espresso flavor, but the mocha syrup was way too sweet for my taste. I think it would have been much better if it had been about half as sweet. The price was also pretty high for a 12 oz latte. The customer service was disappointing. The young woman who helped me came across as rude and seemed like she didn't want to be there. That's especially unfortunate for a business located in the middle of a major tourist area. As for the drink, I'm not sure how a hot latte ends up being served cold, but it definitely shouldn't happen. I also sampled the tiramisu gelato, which was overly sweet and didn't taste very authentic. Overall, I regret spending the time, money, and calories here. Cupcake Royale. I've heard so much about their goodwill and focus on the community from, well, everywhere. But, at what cost? It seems, on my recent visit that they have to sacrifice decent treatment of their employees to achieve those other things. I was super stoked to go in there, since I had never been, but I left feeling really dirty and disgusted. I came into the West Seattle location around noon on monday. I walk in to find a line of about 12 people standing impatiently while a frazzled looking barista runs around making coffee AND serving cupcakes. By herself! She is even visibly sweating (!) from where I am standing by the door. I even notice the customers giving her crap for taking so long, as if she should sweat a little more cause they're not getting their cupcakes fast enough! She was very apologetic, minus the one guy who told her to "make it snappy". I wanted to punch that guy. Anyway, after about 10 minutes I am next in line and she still manages to give me a smile and a hello, what I can get for you. I order my coffee, and as she is making it, I asked her if she was by herself. She said no, and gestured to a lady sitting comfortably in the lobby on a laptop, totally ignoring all the hooplah, (!) and said that the manager was here, but was busy. The poor girl looked like she was about to cry. I was appalled! I work in the customer service industry as a store manager, and I have never EVER been subjected to such slave-like labor, nor would I EVER do that to my employees. To make matters worse, I walked out of the bathroom later (after getting my coffee) and saw that the so-called MANAGER was on FACEBOOK! That poor girl. I gave her my most sincere thank you, tipped her a fiver, and left. No wonder other yelpers are saying the customer service is so bad, how could a literal SLAVE even dream of a smile with management like that? They're probably on the edge of death. Sorry if it seems like an overreaction, but that just shows how appalled I really was. Now: to the coffee and cupcakes. I had a latte that was pretty great. I know it's Stumptown, but it tasted like candy! Also, she drew a little heart in my foam for me which made me smile. I also had a Raspberry Lemonade (to the strong suggestion from the barista, she said it was her favorite) and I was floored. It was dang good...there was a little bit too much frosting, however. I could taste the lemonade frosting only...there was very little flavor from the raspberry cake. But, I'd eat another any day. Next time I go, if I do, I'm going to say something to that manager. Maybe even an email to the owner, but who knows if it would even help? read more

This would be a 5 Star rating, if they took the cakes out of the oven 2 minutes earlier than they do because the cakes are always on the dry side. I've had the cakes a few times where someone in the bakery was doing something right and the cakes were so moist and wonderful I wanted to eat a 6-pack. I don't want my cupcake to crumble in to a million pieces when I try to take a bite. PLEASE take your cupcakes out a little earlier so they are moist and stay together when you bite in to them! Coffee is always really great, I mean it's Stumptown so how can you go wrong. Service is always awesome too. Sometimes the place gets SLAMMED and things can get a little slow, especially if there is only one person working, but then you have to keep in mind that each cup of coffee is being hand made for you... it's not a freaking Drip-O-Matic. I have to LMFAO at a couple of the reviews - like getting a toothache eating a cupcake... seriously? IT'S A CUPCAKE. Umm... maybe take better care of your teeth and try not taking out your tooth pain on your local bakery's goods. Or whining because you show up with a huge group of people a couple minutes before an establishment closes and crying about a last call before closing - apparently you've never been to a bar at last call. Last call is a courtesy to the customer, not a bother. Reviews like those need to be on "Real Actors Read Yelp" for the hilarity. Every time I have had an issue with an order, I have brought it up in the shop and the staff there have always been more than willing to fix any issues. One of the few places left in the junction where people are personable and I look forward to going in to get a cup of coffee. And sometimes to torture my aching teeth (I kid I kid... I brush and floss, so my teeth can handle it) with a Cupcake. Please... less time in the oven with those cupcakes and this would be a 5 star review all the way. read more

I came in this last tuesday afternoon for some delicious baked good after having lunch at Jak's Grill. I ordered a four pack to share with my friend: a salted caramel, a red velvet, a lavender, and the lemon marscapone. We both tried a bit of all four, and we both agreed that they were the driest, crustiest, cupcakes we'd ever had. Plus as the lady was pulling them out of the case, we noticed there were fruit flies ALL over them. I like knowing that a bug may or may not be laying eggs in my food all day. Disgusting. The service was horrible, the foreign lady behind the counter was rude and completely ignored me when I asked how her day had been going. The coffee was terrible, too. I don't know if it the coffee (I doubt it since they serve Stumptown) or the barista, but she made the worst latte I'd ever let pass my lips. Bad customer service, fly-infested sand-like cupcakes, gross coffee: I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. read more
