Daron helped me select my clothing and gave me ideas about putting together colors. The store carries Habitat, one of my favorite brands, but she found for me other brands I like just as well. Here's a tip: I can figure out if something doesn't fit me all by myself. I don't need your insulting judgments to help me feel bad about myself. And what if I was there to buy a gift? Guess what, I won't be. Note: I did not purchase anything here. So I cannot speak to the quality of their goods. I'm only providing my experience with their salespeople. I have to say, it can be very hit or miss. There is a whole room, albeit a small one, filled with shoes but sometimes it's all a bunch of stuff I don't like. That doesn't mean you won't find a gem or two. Also, with the clothes, to be honest the selection is usually more suitable to my mom's taste than mine, but they get some quality young people designers in there too. Now retired, and the PDX outpost is gone, this location gives me my fix. Mapel's has lots of basics and layering pieces, which is perfect for me and our PNW weather. I tend to wear solid colors, so their styles work for me. They also have some prints, but I prefer solids. During my last visit, they had some very pretty sweaters, but this year's style is boxy, which doesn't work for my shape. They have a variety of jeans, a nice selection of winter coats and vests, plus there were holiday dresses and pieces on sale. Make sure to check out the clearance in the far back corner. Sprinkled amongst the clothing is some fashion jewelry and gift items. Always worth a stop, as you never know what you will find.

I had a great experience at Joy's last month while shopping for a dress for my daughter's wedding…read more She had a terrific selection and my biggest problem was making up my mind which one to choose. I ended up with a lovely sky-blue crepe tank dress with flounced, rhinestone-adorned tiers. When I walked in and saw how much formalwear she had in there, my first thought was, "Oh, no, there's going to be nothing but conservative, matronly, stiff, MOB dresses." That was clearly not the case. When I told Joy what I was looking for (formal but fun and sort of sassy) she immediately pulled out a fantastic selection of dresses and I had the best time trying them on. She even brought out shoes so I could get the full effect. It turned out to be a really fun experience and Joy was terrific. In response to another reviewer who felt the level of service was determined by how the shoppers are dressed -- I was in a T-shirt and capris when I went in, and I got terrific service from Joy herself, so thumbs up from me on that score, for sure.
