The sauce was too sweet and the rice could have been cooked longer. The place was clean.

KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot

I've been coming to K-Pot in Taylorsville since 2023, and I'll start by saying the food itself is…read moregenuinely great. It's easily one of the better hot pot and Korean BBQ spots in Utah. The quality, variety, and overall experience of the food is what keeps me coming back. That said, the service has consistently been hit or miss and unfortunately, this most recent visit really highlighted the "miss" side. We came in as a group of 6 (originally 10, but some couldn't make it) and paid for the hot pot and BBQ dinner, which is about $37 per person. At the beginning, everything was solid. Our server, Jose Rafael R, explained the process, helped with the soup base, and got us set up on the tablet for ordering. No complaints there. But after that, it felt like we were completely forgotten. We had to repeatedly try to flag down not just our server, but other staff as well, and most of the time we were ignored. Getting something as simple as a drink refill turned into a whole mission. I ordered a brisk raspberry tea and didn't get a single refill the entire night not because I didn't want one, but because it was nearly impossible to get our server's attention. I understand restaurants get busy, and I try to be patient and empathetic, especially knowing servers have multiple tables. But the issue wasn't just that he was busy it was the lack of basic check-ins. When we finally were able to get him, he seemed rushed and hard to keep around long enough to communicate everything we needed. We had to ask for the grill to be changed, and even that took effort. Toward the end of the meal, it just felt frustrating instead of enjoyable. What really stood out was how the check was handled. He didn't ask if we were splitting the bill (which we were planning to do), and before we even had a chance to say anything, he dropped the receipt and said something along the lines of "here you go, you can pay when you're ready," and walked away immediately. That was pretty much the tone of every interaction quick, dismissive, and gone. Again, the food is great, and that's the only reason I'd consider coming back. But for the price you're paying, the level of service just doesn't match. I don't expect perfection, but I do expect some level of attentiveness, especially when it comes to things like refills, check-ins, and basic communication. Overall: amazing food, but the service really needs improvement. Follow-up to owner response: I appreciate the response and the acknowledgment. I want to emphasize that this wasn't just a one-time issue the service has been inconsistent across multiple visits, which is why I felt the need to mention it. I completely understand busy shifts, but basic check-ins and communication make a big difference, especially at this price point. I do enjoy the food and would like to continue coming back, so I'm hoping to see some improvement in overall attentiveness next time.

In this nonchalant location, there is a clean, delightfully decorated space with delicious food. Even at 7 o'clock on a Memorial Day Monday evening, there were more people inside than the cars of the parking lot would have you think, and more people strolled in after me. Service was attentive and prompt. Menus, napkins, and chopsticks were already on the table. Water quickly followed. The food was out so fast. So good. The side dishes were colorful and tasty. Good seasons oil in at least one. The bibimbap was full of all the favorites with crackling veggies on the edges and rice when it arrived. I wasn't a huge fan of the mushrooms. I usually like mushrooms, but these were spongy/chewy. And there was awesome, jiving music on the speakers giving off a hipster vibe.

They have a really nice vegetarian/vegan menu as well as meat dishes. We shared the Veggie potstickers, which were crisp and delicious! Might try the spicy ones next time for extra flavor! We both got Hot Stone Vegetarian dishes. I did mine with egg and kimchi and my husband did his with tofu. I've been wanting to try a hot stone dish for a while. It was so good!! Very flavorful and the sides they brought out added a nice bonus to the dish! Service was great!! The waitress took great care of us! The decor is beautiful and we had an enjoyable time. Can't wait to come back!!
