Felt like I needed to give Teriyaki Grill in Layton a major SHOUT-OUT for always having amazing food that is FRESH and NEVER disappointing. Honestly, if it was my very last day on this Earth, my last meal would come from here. I haven't tried everything on their menu as I'm very partial to my beloved steak and shrimp, but there are other dishes that I have tried that I also highly recommend. First being their side dishes. Side of steak (generous portions that can be used to create other meals or eat raw on lunch which is what I do at work and have zero time to cook). Side of shrimp is the same, though less portions (probably because it's more expensive being seafood). The Super Bowl is a MUST TRY! Hearty filling protein of edamame, two poached eggs (I think they are poached?), side of pineapple, and avacodos. Speaking of pineapple, I've ordered it on the side and have also added it to my combo meals. It's grilled to perfection and is NEVER a disappointment! Kid's Meal Steak is an excellent value for the price and gives you the vegetable/rice/noodle options with their delicious teriyaki sauce but at a less pricetag; however, it is still very filling. The exact same goes for their "Little Combo" which I love to have when I don't want leftovers. Their Combo Salad is beyond delicious! Broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cucumber, edamame, peppers, and mixed greens like Romaine lettuce to keep you very full and satisfied along with their two offerings of protein choices (you can also take off whichever veggies you don't want). Comes with two salad dressings or (if you're like me), it's so flavorful, you can eat it raw! The sushi here is just as good as any Japanese/Asian restaurant. Tried their "Half & Half Sushi", which is 4 very LARGE pieces of spicy crab roll, and 4 very LARGE pieces of California roll. Also comes with soy sauce, ginger & wasabi, and complimentary chopsticks. I've tried their Little Spicy Chicken and the chicken is very moist and tender. Spiced just right for those that don't want too much heat. Once again you can add Death Crier, Hot, Mid, or Mild to suit your preferences to the meal. I've fluctuated with all their spice levels and haven't been disappointed once! Hot and Mid are just as good (if not milder) than my favorite Death Crier. Try this place for yourself at least once! I promise you won't be disappointed!! Plus your scale at home will thank you when you weigh yourself and see that you haven't gained a pound ;+)! read more

This place was AMAZING!!! Came here for a work lunch to meet with my leader. We were originally going to go to Mo Betta's but when I saw the sign say grill we detoured. First thing I noticed when I walked in was there was a good amount of people there but the place was clean. Then I waited in line and saw all the food items and realized on my animal based diet I can find something to eat here. When I told the cashier that I only eat animal products and fruit she made sure she helped me customize a meal to my eating plan. I was impressed. She told me I could order a side of meat that was 6oz and add the add on with two eggs, avocado & pineapple. I was very grateful she shared options with me that i wasn't aware of. I am not sure what happened since my last review here. But we came last week and got food, and it was not good at all, the rice was dry and watery, the sushi we got tasted terrible, we thought maybe it was a bad day. No... Today 06/07/2023 we stopped in and got food, I was very disappointed, the rice was again dry, the chicken I got tasted dry and had min flavor, my friend said the sushi made her stomach hurt. I'm at seriously disappointed in this place, I am not sure what happened since my review last year, but we definitely will not be coming back here again. The food is fantastic! One of my favorite places to eat in all of Utah! The service is friendly and fast. The ambience is a fun environment.

I love this place for a quick healthy meal that helps you feel good. The teriyaki steak HOT is my favorite go to. Sometimes I just do veggies to keep the calories down. My wife and I stopped at a Teriyaki Grill for a weekday lunch date. The food quality is good and it tastes good. Their portion sizes are to the American standard. The sauces are really good. The Teriyaki sauce was a bit too sweet for me. The sauce with the Tiff salad is really good. If you are in the area for lunch, then I recommend anybody to give it a try. read more

The food might be good but I wouldn't know. According to Google, Yelp and the sign on their door they're open until 9PM but when I stopped by at 8:15 PM on 3/26/2022 the door was locked. The employees were inside, they saw me try the door and look at my watch to check the time but nobody responded. From what I understand, the restaraunt business is hard enough to make a living without locking up and turning business away almost an hour early on a Saturday night. Went in for dinner around 6:20pm. Took over 25 mins to get food - I believe we were waiting for meat to cook. Then we were told they were out of rice - switched to noodles without veggies, not my first choice but okay. Guess what our meals had? Tons of veggies. When I asked about it, they had the nerve to say you didn't say it. 2 of 3 meals I ordered, I specifically said no veggies. They did offer me a free Monster drink for having to wait an excessive amount of time, but ummm I didn't want that. They had 3 people working but said they didn't have enough help. Like meat and rice are what you serve ALL THE TIME, it seems fairly obvious you need to be more prepared for a dinner rush. Negatives were no mask or gloves by the person cooking the food - COVID19 or not, people preparing food should take better precautions. I was happy to see at least the other two people wearing masks. Saw the cashier close someone else's food lid that had food hanging over the edge without gloves I tried time after time to give them another chance, but you won't catch me in there again. read more

This place is conveniently located right off the Layton Parkway exit. It's in the same area where WinCo Foods is located. My family was hungry so I ordered the Ginger Salmon with white rice and a grilled pineapple add-on. And for my husband, I got the teriyaki steak & chicken combo with white rice and the "super bowl" add-on upgrade which is 2 poached eggs, grilled pineapple, and sliced avocado. He wanted the mild spice level on this one. Both my husband and daughter thought that their food was delicious. The salmon was grilled to perfection and the chicken and steak were tender and juicy. The add-ons just compliments the dishes really well. The place has a nice casual atmosphere. The owner can be seen grilling and he did come out to talk to customers and wipe tables down. 2 salmon bowls, a combo, and a steak bowl (pic not taken) ... for about $45. That's a fantastic deal!! The breakdown: -food was delicious and was a nice healthy alternative to the burgers and pizza joints nearby -the atmosphere of the place is casual dining, trendy looking, and very warm and inviting. -customer service from their owner and staff was great. Delicious teriyaki steak - thick and tender, very flavorful, served with yummy noodles and "meh" steamed vegetables. In Seattle, teriyaki is usually served with rice and salad and you can get potstickers/gyoza on the side. I so wish that was an option here, but since teriyaki restaurants are few and far between here, this will suffice. The steak truly is delicious though. read more

Tasty and customizable, I have a high tolerance for spicy so I had them as extra death crier spice which had amazing flavor and the heat was buildable, my husband wanted some nostalgia from his Seattle teriyaki days and said the teriyaki over the rice reminded him of it. The food was ok. Nothing spectacular but it was clean and don't taste bad. Prices are outrageous for what you get. Also I was charged a "convenience fee". When I asked what it was for nobody knew. Finally some kid in the back said it was because they are charged by credit card companies. I understand that but I paid cash!! Also the fee was 20% of my bill. Being familiar with credit card processing I know the fees are generally 3-6%. 20%!?!? Unbelievable. I am not against helping to offset bank fees a business is charged but at lease advertise it at the register so I am prepared. Also there are disrespectful notes on the counter regarding water cups and hot sauce shortages. Be more professional! Will not be back! read more

What an awesome restaurant!!! The staff was super helpful and eager to answer questions and give a sample. The chicken had a lot of flavor- not just grilled like some other places. The teriyaki sauce has spice levels- I got a medium and it was just enough heat; my husband got the hot and enjoyed it too. I love that you can add fresh toppings - like grilled pineapple. I have been going to this chain since the first day they opened in Taylorsville back in '98 or '99. While the price has increased the food is still delicious to me in every way. I would chose their teriyaki chicken over almost any other meal I could have. It is simple and perfectly tasty every time. Never change. They easily make my "Haunt" list. Favorite place to eat! The food is something I legit could eat every day. The one thing that is a con about the place is the staff only because i feel like they are not properly trained which is understandable they are young and this is probably a first job for them. So I don't hold that against them. The cooks are amazing and overall this place is great the staff is friendly just not knowledgeable on catering or the meal preparation program. So glad that these guys moved into Layton next to Winco. I have tried a lot of their menu items and they are all good. Build your bowl or salad with freshly grilled chicken, streak, shrimp or combo it. The regular size will definitely fill you up and the price is just right. Besides great food, the service is always fast and friendly. If you are watching what you eat or tracking macros, most dishes have 30+ grams of protein and you can adjust the fat/carbs based on your selections. read more
