This is my favorite place to get my lunch for work. During the winter I love to get the soup and the rest of the year I love the rice/noodle bowls. It's an easy way to get fast food that actually has veggies and protein in it. The prices and reasonable. The place is clean and the workers are always very kind. read more

This is my favorite fast casual restaurant. It's like chipotle but with Asian fusion: their bowls are probably the most popular dishes. You can start with a rice bowl or noodle bowl, pick your protein, add veggies, and finish with the sauce and toppings like crushed peanuts. I'm docking one star because employees have seemed overwhelmed at this location and to clarify this is not fine dining, and the food is not amazing - it is amazing considering this is a fast casual restaurant. read more

Just walked into this place. Was asked to wait. And was left waiting. She even looked at me with the look of "he's still waiting?" So I walked out. A lone behold. Not a care in the world. Awful awful straight garbage service. That's enough for me to say to hell with this place. read more

My friend and i came here to meet another friend - one is gluten-free, one is vegetarian and this restaurant had something for all of us. We were passing through SLC on our way to Montana and we absolutely loved this restaurant so much that we stopped back in on our way back home again! I had the tofu Bahn Mi wrap, my friend had the chicken with rice noodles and another friend tried the chicken curry - we all really enjoyed our meals. This may be "fast food" but it is really good! Had a Brown Rice Bowl with grilled chicken and it was so good! My husband had the Banh Mi Tacos with meatballs and he would have them again! The food here is so fresh and flavorful. I got the tofu Bahn Mi and it was so full of a curry flavor that I just couldn't get enough! I also had the side soup with rice noodles and it's truly delicious. The guacamole seemed a little less than fresh, more like a dolled-up version of store bought guacamole. Not terrible, not great. So, as far as local chain restaurants go, this place is awesome. You won't get 5 star service, or even 5 star food, but for fast casual it is close to the top on my list as you can get with only being 4 stars. No matter what way you order, the tacos, the salad, the sandwich (personal favorite), or the noodles/rice bowls... it is all good. I am a huge fan of the yellow curry! I will be back! First time trying this chain and I'm happy to have them open near me. Service was friendly and helpful since this was my first time. I got the salad with chicken and modified a few of the toppings. It was prepared promptly in front of my eyes and the portion is quite good. Price is on par with other places where you order items as you move down the line. Flavor was great! Love this place. Love getting the super sauce with lemongrass dressing. YUM. flavorful to the max. I usually get a brown rice bowl. The chips and guacamole are also super good. I love their chips - perfectly salted. The staff practiced great social distancing and have a really detailed cleaning system for every table inside. read more

It's been a couple months since I went to zao. It tastes great. However, I was unpleasantly surprised at the amount of food they provided in my entree. Portion sizes have shrunk for sure. The food is super tasty.... Not bland like other places that claim to be ethnic. The chicken pork meatballs are really REALLY good. The yakisoba is cooked to perfection, not over, not under. The agua frescas are not too sweet and not too meh. Try them all, each is a really nice discovery. The curry sauce was good, mild ... The other curry had cilantro, and well, cilantro: take it or leave it. I left it. I'm genetically predisposed to hate cilantro. ... The team serving us was very nice, helpful and attentive.... We stopped in for lunch and were treated by the employees. The vibe is casual and relaxed. The tacos are good, the chili spice makes the taco. The banh mi sandwich is below expectation because the vegetables are not pickles and the sandwich bread is very plain. The bowls are very good. My kids love the noodles. Did an online order, the order was completely wrong. Called the manager and he argued with us saying it was our fault because it was entered in wrong but was willing to remake it, however he was rude about it and told us several times it was our mistake not theirs at which point I didn't feel comfortable going back to have it replaced. This is not the first time I've had issues at this store but the first review I decided to write about it. Customer service sucks here and now I know why... the manager on duty has set the example to his staff. read more

The food here is really pretty good. But it is painful to watch the workers try to put as few ingredients in your bowl as possible. To watch them use their tongs to pull out maybe one or two pieces of broccoli, and no more, is very aggravating. If they were more generous with their toppings I would be much happier with this restaurant. Just charge me a dollar more And not skimp on the ingredients. read more

I saw a comment about the restaurant being dark, but the lighting seems great. Anything much brighter would probably upset my eyes, especially early in the morning (as that's when we typically go). Someone also mentioned the wait is long. The restaurant isn't huge, and if you go at a time when everyone else is also going, usually any time after 9, then of course it'll be busy. I got the vegan ramen and asked for it to be made spicy. It looked spicy -- it was a deep red -- but it honestly just tasted like water and corn. Or corn water. It was very bland. Edible, but not good. I carry pepper and crushed red pepper packets with me everywhere, and even after dumping a bunch in, it still had no flavor. Also, it wasn't filling. I had to go home and eat another meal. I wouldn't recommend this place for vegan meals unless you live next door.

This location will be dearly missed and we are hoping for a new location to open soon. The favorite was the walnut shrimp, crispy and in a cozy savory sweet sauce. I loved the eggplant vegetable dish and the sauce was flavorful and garlicky. The staff are very nice and gave us plenty of extra rice to go with the dishes. Thank you Joy Luck!

And I'm really puzzled by the high ratings of this place here on Yelp. I had the sautéed beef, which is listed as "Sa Ti" on the menu, so when it was brought out and announced as "sautéed beef," I was a bit confused. While the vegetables were decent, the beef was tough and from the flavor was a cheap cut. The hoisin sauce was not thick enough and a bit too runny like maybe water added.(?) This also made the flavor weak. After the first disappointing bite of beef, I only picked at the vegetables. I didn't finish it nor did I ask for a take home box. In my opinion, looking over at the people at my table (I was at a club meeting), everything looked on the cheap side. They all seemed to enjoy their meals, though. The portions are huge, so you'll get a lot of mediocre food. The service was OK. We were a large party of about 45. They knew beforehand we were coming. We noticed that even though our table was first to order, we were one of the last to get our food. One person at our table got her food significantly later than we did. There was one table that still didn't have their food when we got our checks. Water refills were never checked and neither was my soda. The Dr. Pepper was good... 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience.
